DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE THEY WILL SCAM YOU! I purchased an electric bike online from this store. I do not live in the area but the price was right and the shipping was free. After I purchased the bike online I received an email stating that they could not honor the purchase price and that I would need to pay $200.00 more to get the same product that I just ordered online! I called the store and asked to speak to the manager. What a customer service fail! Adam the gentleman who answered the phone told me that the manager was busy because its the holidays. But, Adam told me I could run things by him instead. I asked Adam if the manager would ever be available to take a call and he said no. Im done. Thank goodness for Paypal!

Small like most LBSes in the city but they got the goods. There's a nice restroom here, too! (Just one, though.) Genuinely friendly staff; get a neat tee-shirt with your bike purchase!
Fantastic shop for folding bike enthusiasts. Highly knowledgeable, approachable and engaging staff. Adam is great and made us feel welcome, taking the time to educate us and went above and beyond to ensure that our Brompton was in great working order even though we had originally purchased the bike at another shop. Adam has helped earn NYCe Wheels new customers. Great bike shop and also a good range of scooters.
I was there on Saturday 6/30/18 And i was talking with Adam and i had his ear for over 15 mins and he did not try and rush me away he even printed me out all the information on the bikes we talked about. He even offered me to come test ride any bicycle that i wanted. He told me the difference of the bikes that i pointed out. Didnt push any bike on me. And didnt push me away.
I stopped in here today on my Brompton. They took care of it while a waited and they were quick. The staff and janee. is so friendly and helpful. I will be coming back here for anything bike related.
I have entered the store to request information about a product and, despite knowing that I am a tourist and that I will hardly buy an electric kit for my bicycle, kindly it has been almost half an hour to orient me correctly. If I lived in New York, I would know which store to go to!
Great staff... very informative. Couldn t decide over which bike i wanted. They helped me choose the right bike according to my needs. Very happy with the bike. Will continue to do more business with them.
Because like she said I bought a scooter for $1087.66 in September 9/2016 by November 27/2016 I took it out to a bank by my house and I turned the switch off and on my way back,I turns it on but no acceleration so I took it there and Michelle Cardona who sold me the u-scooter was there I felt so relieved because of the way she talked to me the first time encouraged me into buying the scooter unlike her she gave a work order reciet and promised to call me and continue to tell me since the insurance is still active i will have to pay for the repair which usually take an hour or 45minutes and I told her how can this be I brought it less then 3 months and it already brakedown and I have to pay a fee and she said yeah but we will call you tomorrow which was Monday 28 ,never heard from them soI call tuesday a voicemail pick up all 5 time and put me on hold and hang up so I call again Wednesday 30th I called she picked up the phone I said I never received a call from you so what's going on ok she gave me some nonesense excuse and promised to call me the same day and today is December 4 still yet I have not heard from them.the sales lady Michelle Cardona she is very manipulative she got an excused for everything and one more thing all the smile changes after I finish paid for the scooter that day it's like I had a filling something was about to go down.I sold my soul to the devil I will never buy anything from this company anymore And I was gonna buy 2 scooters and I said to myself let me try 1 first And thank God I did But now I am placing my report with the city right now because I really need my scooter I have knee problem it help me a lot getting around in the cold but Nycewheel took it from me and my $1087.66.
This place is a scam!!! My boyfriend went there to fix his electric scooter that cost $1,300. He walked in and asked for a cost to fix his scooter. The guy who worked there didn't give him a price but said everything as in the parts are cheap, Also said his scooter will be ready by that evening because we went at 11am and he will be receiving a call. The guy just took his name and phone number, not even a receipt or a ticket. 4days pass and no call. My boyfriend decides to call them to see what's going on. The guy on the phone said the scooter wasn't even put in the repair order system. The past 4 days it's just been collecting dust. During the conversation with the guy on the phone he assumes that the battery is damaged with out even asking the technication. Knowing the battery cost the most to fix. The battery cost $370 plus a $41 maitence fee and an additional $25 to put the battery in. My boyfriend calls again because getting to their store takes about an hour and half. We get there and the guy asked us for a receipt he told him you didn't give him one he says oh yeah that's right!. My boyfriend asked what did they do as in digonasis to the scooter and he just said they did things. Basically wanted us to spend $436 on everything. Now my boyfriend also emailed the company Ecco recco and they are also saying that they didn't check the throttle, fuses and most likely the battery wasn't an issue. Overall they just wanted to bang you out. Their (nyce whatever) just tries to fix the problem with the most expensive solution. I get it it's a business but to just over charge and not have any other solution is a total scam!!! Also no one is really fixing electrical scooters at this time so just bang some one out is just absurd!.
TOO BAD YOU CANNOT GIVE LESS THAN A STAR. THESE GUYS "BRUCE" AND BART ARE EXTREMELY RUDE AND WILL OVERCHARGE YOU AT ANY RATE. AVOID THEM. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!
Staff is earnest, but not the place to bring your high-end bike. I brought my racing bike in for a cleaning and lubrication of the chain. They didn't have bar tape to replace the wrapping on the handlebars. The bike came back with the grime "powerwashed" off, but the frame was covered with grease marks. They caught some loose spokes, which was great. This is more the place to buy your electronic bike or get it worked on.. not your usual LBS (local bike shop.) Best to head down to Conrads in Tudor City if you are looking for an LBS in Midtown East
These guys are great! I bought a Dahon Mariner and it is perfect. After delivery I had some questions and Dennis came over to answer them and and show me how to fold/unfold my new bike. High quality product + service.
Bought a brompton here. Between the selection of bikes, the level of service and the sales staff knowledge, it was a great experience. Their service department is also one of the best I've encountered in the city.
I recommend this store! I went looking for a helmet and I was well treated and received the support of Janee. She was very helpful and nice. Even I won a bag my purchase ;)
Terrible service. I have purchased the e-twow scooter for $978 (with discount because it was my second purchase) with them on April 15, 2016 and detected a clicking noise on the back wheel since the day one. I went back the next day 04/16/16 and requested a replacement, exchange, or some kind of service to fix the problem and they told me they cannot see the problem and asked me to give it a week to see if the problem consists. And it did!!! I went back the week after 04/29/16 to request that the problem to be fixed, they said to leave it with them. I went back the next day 4/30/16 to retrieve my scooter in hopes the problem is fixed, and they said they cannot detect the problem and all they will have to do is to replace the wheel so they put an order for the replacement part. So I waited patiently, even though they said they have a one month warranty for the purchase with any problem they will replace the equipment, I waited. Yesterday, I called back to ask if the replacement part has arrived, and they told me that they are no longer making parts from the company, and they cannot assist with my problem any longer. So just like that, they delayed my warranty due date and now dropped my problem like trash. Really disappointed in the way they handled the issue with a customer who purchased a pricey equipment with them twice within few months.
I just recently purchased two foldable bikes from NYCeWheels, a Tern Verge P10 and a Dahon Vybe D7. Within 1 business day, these bikes were hand delivered by one of their nice employees, due to my proximity to their storage facility in NJ. I was utterly shocked with how fast these bikes came, and fully tuned up at that. Both sets of wheels ride perfectly, and my girlfriend and I are very happy with these bikes.
I used to race for a junior cycling team, and have dealt with many bike shops over the past 15 years. I honestly can say this shop has been #1 with customer service, and I would gladly do business with them again.
Got my KickPed and love it!! I use it to get around in the city and have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. The one thing is super important is that it actually holds me and i'm a person that weighs in the low 300's and i ridge it without a hitch. Great workmanship on the aluminum.
It can be tough to get a hold of someone and to get a returned call but aside from that they're nice once you get there and they are quite knowledgeable with bikes as well.
Dennis brought my bike right to my home and showed me all the features of the bike etc. He answered all my questions and gave me some extra tips on how to use it safely and efficiently. Highly recommended.
I bought the cheapest tern bicycle but they showed me the same attention they were providing to other customers buying much more expensive items. They tune up the bicycle and put the part on it I asked for. They were knowlegable and polite
Great staff and excellent service. It is refreshing to find a shop that is genuinely helpful, without the obnoxiousness that seems to have become fashionable at so many NYC bike shops. Fast turnaround on repairs so far, too.
Very pleased with my online experience. Following my in person visit where I got to test drive a few of their bikes, my family purchased two through the website. Their customer service was excellent throughout and was contacted immediately to arrange a delivery to my home. They were very responsive, flexible and accommodating to my scheduling constraints to ensure my delivery arrived as requested. Loving our new rides!!
Can somebody explain why these people (their business office) won't call me back to confirm and take my order? I placed an order for well over $1,200 last Friday afternoon, having spoken to a knowledgeable guy named "Adam" about my needs. Over four days, I've sent multiple emails, three voicemails, and nobody calls back. I need to see the invoice; make a payment and get my order shipped ... and I can't reach anyone by phone nor by email. What gives??!! Is this company for real and just sloppy & understaffed .... or is it a more serious issue?
Great selection of bikes, got my Populo Sport there because it was what I could afford. Still received great after sale service even though I bought one of their cheapest bikes. They might take longer for service than some other regular bike shops, but keep in mind they're also service the whole country out of that shop with all their online sales. These people know what they're doing, so it's worth the wait if you want your bike fixed properly.
Very knowledgeable staff. Shipping manager, Janee, was amazing. She opened the store early Sunday morning so my husband and I could pick up our foldable bikes...TRUE CUSTOMER SERVICE!
Connor the guy whom answers the phone is rude and doesn't seem to care about anything / miserable person! We for the shop!! Dropped off my bike 2 days ago the said it will be looked at in the next 24 hours and still can't get: The bike looked at A time frame as to when it will be looked A manager on the phone & or a time in which i can speak to a manager! I already know what's wrong but need conformation and they don't even know when the part will come in ! i thought moving to a bigger location would be helpful for them! I guess it's just a storage facility to hold backed up bike repairs!
I bought a Brompton M6L online from their website. When I picked it up, they installed all the extra accessories that purchased. However when I took it home, I noticed that they overcharged me $500+ and I had to double check the math on the receipt. I politely argued with their email support that they overcharged the NYC state tax. They eventually corrected it and refunded the overcharge. When you buy from here, make sure that you double check your order and that you received everything you purchased, and the tax is correct. Their new store is much bigger and nicer than their old store. They also repaired my EcoReco M5 scooter fast!
Bottom line, you have to double check the order and receipt to be sure you get exactly what you paid for and at the correct price!
Disappointing customer service. I waited two+ weeks for a bike I ordered. When the packages arrived they had sent the wrong bike. I called to inquire when the bike I ordered would arrive they informed me that it hadn't yet been shipped and that I would have to pay for any expedited shipping. 1 month+ shipping time is ridiculous. They might be fine if you order in person but I wouldn't trust them with any on-line orders.
An heaven for brompton Bike enthusiastic! I counted probably 30+ brompton on display, they have other folding bike like tern, but they are mainly selling brompton. I went there specifically to purchase some accessories for my brompton that are impossible to find in Italy. The magnetic clamps are a blast. I believe they focus vertically on few products, so they don't have thousands of bikes. But again if you've a brompton this is the place for you
Despite what their website say about store hours. they are close at 5PM on Sunday. I wasted 30+ mins traveling time just so they could tell me the store is closed and to come back tomorrow but it did look like they had a nice selection of foldable bikes. it was partially my fault since I should have called to confirm what time they close on Sundays.
Placed an order online. Received no updates. Called multiple times. Left a message. No response. Finally just went in and picked up my purchase. Had to get attention of staff to get info on how to use product. Once I had their attention they were helpful. In the end, I feel that if you don't come in to buy something, it's really hard to get help, especially with online orders.
My original order from NYCEwheels was damaged by UPS. I contacted them and notified them of the damage and refusal of the order. NYCEwheels sent me a new BionX system to me within 2 days. There service was and is outstanding. After a few days I had a problem with the wheel. I called NYCEwheels and again had outstanding service with them especially Peter. After some diagnostics, Peter sent me a new wheel. The BionX works great now. There was no hassle and Peter main concern was to have me happy and back on the road. I could of not ask for any better service. It is refreshing to work with honest and honorable shop. My thanks to Peter and the staff at NYCEwheels.
This review is based on a recent service related visit to Nycewheels concerning my E-twow electric scooter.
My scooter was turning off on its own without my consent or permission. I could ride for a mile, it would shut down, I would turn it on and it would go for another long distance before repeating the process.
After a few phone calls to Nycewheels and speaking with two different employees, I was told that it wouldn't be a difficult fix and may take an hour and that I could even wait while it was being repaired. Figures of $50 and $120 were given as possible charges.
I dropped my scooter off on a Tuesday when they opened at 11a. I was told that the service tech would be late but that he would give me an estimate before any work was done. I called at 4p to check on my scooter and was told it hadn't been looked at yet. I knew I made the right decision not to wait there for it to be repaired. Just before 6p, I was called and told that my scooter was fixed and what the final charge would be. When I was told how long it took to repair, I said, "What?" I was told it only took 10 minutes. When I was told how much it cost, I responded by asking him to repeat that. It sounded like English but I wasn't sure. He said, "$13."
They took 1/6 of an hour to repair and charged 1/6 of an hour rate. That made too much sense. There was no gouging or pillaging. I was almost disappointed that I wouldn't have the chance to complain and argue. Just kidding.
An honest business in NYC, who knew. Finding a reputable repair location is as rare as spotting a unicorn that speaks French and defecates fluffy white marshmallows.
I was prepared to give an underwhelming review because of the wait and the expected high cost but now I have no choice but to give 7 stars and my heartfelt appreciation.
I have been doing a lot of research, and the videos on line by Peter have been extremely helpful. They were the main reason for me taking the train from Stamford, CT to Grand Central Station and then walking 2.7 miles to the shop.
Sure it was a Saturday and it was busy. But the guys all took turns helping everyone. They set me out on a bunch test rides. I tried all variations of Bromptons I was interested in seeing. I was having lots of fun.
I wound up buying (and taking home with me that day) an M6L and added a few accessories. I rode around NYC and Central Park before heading home. It was amazing how fast the bike was. Either that or the guys on high end road bikes in the park were just super slow?
I am extremely happy with my purchase and the service from NYCeWheels. The guys were all pro's and answered all my questions as well as make sure I was comfortable. I can't wait to take them up on the guided tours.
Great reviews on YouTube. Ordered a bike and received the next day, well packed and ready to go. Great experience, will definitely shop with them again.
I bought a Brompton from them when my commute changed and I needed to do about 5m on a bike each way. I ordered it online, but they had it ready the next day. They guy I worked with (unfortunately I don't remember his name) walked me through everything, had me practice the folding mechanism and do a few tests before leaving with mine. Super nice and great service. Would definitely recommend them!
After carefully researching the Brompton folding bicycle it was time to find a retailer.
The local retailer in my area, out of state from NYCeWheels, was clueless about the bike and its following. In fact, the local shop employee promised to call me back about several questions I had and never did. So I took my business elsewhere to NYCeWheels.
Found NYCeWheels was a premier Brompton dealer and contacted them via email as well as follow up phone call. Dealt with Adam, who was wonderful, so I'm not sure about the negative reviews of this business.
The Bromptons we ordered required modification to add a few upgrades, along with adding bags. Everything went smoothly.
The bikes were safely packaged and arrived intact. One item did not make it in the box and was immediately dispatched separately.
The staff is very knowledgeable about Bromptons and other folding bicycles, more so than the Brompton Junction store in NYC I visited.
Dealt with the shop online and in-person. Both the experiences were excellent. Adam in the shop is particularly knowledgeable about Bromptons. I would say that this is the best Brompton store in the US. Thanks to all the wonderful staff.
STAY AWAY FROM NYCeWHEELS. I took my bike there to assembly and install a generic ebike kit 3 weeks ago. Then they said the price was $75, a week later someone called me saying was going to be $200 because of customization and I agreed to pay it. Then after 15 days the bike still not ready for pickup. I went there very mad and they fixed my bike in 2 days, and charged me $720. It was rip off! They never called me to give this new price and they didn't do the service on time! They are unprofessional and disorganized! STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE!!! They will steal your money and no warranty for nothing they do.
This place has come a long way. Some ups and downs since founder Beth's passing but now again the staple of Brompton and other folding bikes in Manhattan.
Great staff - helpful and knowledgeable. Did not end up buying the folding bike I came in looking for., got something better suited to my needs. My decision was helped by taking the bike out for a test ride. Great selection of accessories too. Will be going back during riding season!
A third bike from NYCeWheels has just been welcomed to our collection (two belong to me, one is my son's). Although we may never have the chance to visit the shop in person, we have enjoyed being virtual visitors by means of great advice and email conversations with Adam Fisher as well as many informative video links. The wonderful end result is a big box with a beautiful new bike arriving at the door in Florida. It is always a pleasure, NYCeWheels, thank you.
It's been a while since I've been here. I was last here when I bought my bike and their shop was on York. Im a terrible bike owner and never got it tuned up. Three years later, my Dahon needs new tires (probably) and a lot of work. The workers were courteous, listened to my plebe problems and repeated back everything they were going to do. Professional and very not-awkward. Which I appreciate. It remains to be seen if they'll actually be able to fix my bike. ETA 4-5 days for what I think is a full overhaul, maybe it doesn't need that much. But I had been dreading bringing the bike in cuz it's a trek from Brooklyn. But it was quick and easy and in NYC, what more can you ask for? [[Update:: 6/21/18:: I've had my bike back for a few weeks now and it's so perfect. All my joints are secure and my brakes are so much better than they were even when I first bought the bike. I also got a new back light that rocks and just everything about it now makes me feel safe. I bike everywhere now thank you guys]]
People either write reviews if the service is excellent or horrible. So I wanted to give an honest review for my experience today. After buying a Oyama e-bike I started having power issues a few months into ownership, shortly after, I got into a bike accident which caused damage to the grip and the left pedal, so I dropped it off at NYCeWheels. I dropped the bike off middle of August. Got a call a few weeks later that bike was repaired. I asked if power system, pedal and grip were all fixed. He said no. Just power system. What left a bad taste in my mouth was him replying with well they are still on the bike and seem to be functioning . That s not how you respond to a customer wishing for those to be repaired. A dent in a car door doesn t stop the door from working, but people have dents removed all the time, and I wanted my bike back in not only working order, but looking back to like new, how it was before. So the guy on the phone said he would order the parts and call me back. Another 2 weeks go by. I call to check up. I was greeted by a man I believe was named Steve, he told me the bike was repaired and ready for pickup. I asked specifically if the power system, grip and pedal were fixed. He said yes. I wanted to be 100% sure so I said so all three parts requested have been fixed he reassured me and said I could pick it up. Today I took a long train ride to the city to pick up my bike. He wheels the bike out and it looks great...except the original damaged pedal and grip were still there. Untouched. Just like day one. I was furious. At this point it was over a month after I gave them the bike and it seemed like a very cut and dry repair. I was upset that I had to call several times and basically ask for the work to be done, work I wanted done since the first day. Now here I am a month later and it still wasn t fixed. I was handed over to Adam. Adam was very empathetic to my concerns and he took the bike back in for an hour to have both of my issues resolved. I have worked customer service for years. I understand mistakes and accidents do happen. What makes GOOD customer service stand out from the rest is how a business handles a mistake. NYCeWheels was swift in remedying my issue and I left a happy customer. I do plan on going back to have any future repairs or purchases here because they went above and beyond today to fix their mistake. I greatly respect that. Which is why even after this repair mixup, they still get a 5 star review in my book.
Everything is as organized as I have imagined them to be. They have the nicest place, they even have that nicest bicycle experts to guide you in your ever assembled bike. Thanks guys, my son is now enjoying the top quality bike we bought to you. Even though we are in a tight budget, we still bought that nice looking bike. Thanks NYCeWheels.
Purchased my scooter from NyceWheels, thanks to Michelle, who was very helpful in assisting me in making my decision. I am glad I purchased from them because I live in NYC and prefer to support local dealers whenever I can. NyceWheels has a great new location, knowledgeable and friendly staff, and service what they sell. I am glad they are in the area, and I have been very happy with the attention and service that I have received.
This company is a big joke, they don't care about the client after they have ur money they don't mind already if u need ur item they let you wait for along time even they promise the date don't trust them. For me it's ok if it is a free delivery but the thing is not free then they will promise you they don't delivery what they promise there are full of BS!
Ordered this item on 5/10/2015 for store pickup, after various delay, and having to call them up 3 times over the course of an entire month, i was finally able to pick it up on 6/10/2015. When i got there The stock guy named "Eric" also tried to pull a fast one on me and tried to give me a used one. Luckily, i went back to the store when i noticed i was missing some screws and went straight to the clerk to ask him where were the screws that came with this item. The clerk told me i was given a used one and gave me a new one. If you're a person who loves to call the store and extremely attentive then i might recommend this store. If you're just a typical customer who wants to just get what they paid for, avoid this place for the love of God.
If you're looking for a folding bike or electric scooter, this is a right place! You can do a test drive of any bike in the shop! So go and check that out!
Strictly my opinion here based on two visits and waiting in line hearing multiple customer reactions and a direct comparison to the old shop: Unfortunately NYC e wheels has sold out. The new shop is big and fancy and that comes with lost individual attention and exuberant labor costs attached to all repairs. At the old small shop maybe you needed a small bit of work and they'd shake your hand and say 10 bucks. No more. Don't expect loyal customer benefits either. Expect official processes, rigorous rules, lots of "No we can't do that" and pocket skimming. This was my last trip to the east side :(.
Michelle did a great job making my decision much easier buying Dahon Vitesse. Dennis tuned the bike and has been always available on the phone helping to get to be advanced user. Great place! Highly recommend!
Amazing customer service. Have been communicating with them from Jersey and was able to set something up. Came and got the job done and in the time they said they would. It was well worth the trip and I will be doing more business with them in the nearest future for sure!!!
I had a very good experience trying out and ultimately buying a Tern Link D8 bike and related equipment from NYCeCycles last week Adam Fisher, my sales representative, worked patiently with me figuring out what type of folding bike made sense for me and encouraged me to try out several options. He was courteous, knowledgeable, and calm in the middle of a busy day at the shop. The bicycle was set up, carefully packed and sent on to me in Massachusetts, arriving in perfect shape in a few days. After the sale I contacted Adam regarding two other matters. His responses, once again, were gracious and helpful. I highly recommend NYCeWheels if you are considering the purchase of a bike.
Knowledgeable friendly thoughtful confident I can't really ask for anything more in a bike shop. Plus they sell Brompton so they're already at a distinct advantage.
My order cavalierly cancelled with a "sorry it didn't work out" email. No explanation, accommodation--nothing. Yes it's was a sale, but I ordered immediately, confirmation received and money immediately debited. Then 3 days later, this dumb quoted note emailed to me. Apparently, they have too much business to care about treating customers decently. I hope you signed a long-term lease on your new shop. This type of miserable service will bite you in the ass inevitably! Shop elsewhere, where the store cares a crap!
Every bike shop i've been share the same atmosphere and most of all, The employees that manage, The owners, their behavior..If it doesn't wake you, it does hurt you when you got too personal with their actions. But I always remember one thing, business is business. I got along with any of them. it's bec. I know what i want when i need it...I hate to be approach inside the store with them saying " may i help you"..I don't even look at them. Since I don't get to encounter something i wanted around my city, I venture to other cites from time to time. Thanks to the internet. I've seen NYCEWHEELS so many times and whatever I google search within my bikes need will eventually prompted me to their website. Its just in time the IF MODE came within my grasp....Listen people! I gave them 5 stars its bec. I got what i wanted, it wasn't perfect but nycewheels got nothing to do with the bike's shortfall if I were to discuss any. And i can opt to return it but instead, i always manage to imagine a solution to a minor flaw. I just wished they will drop UPS as their shipping services and go FEDEX for good. that's all!.....
So far so bad, I ordered a bike on their website on July the 19, 2018. The site says it ships same day. I just got off the phone with Max today, Saturday the 21st 2018, He could not give me any information on my order, he offered no explanation on why after 3 days I received no info on whether it will be shipped or might be shipped. I will keep this review open, and update it ASAP as conditions unfold. As of this moment I wish I had read other reviews before making an order for a new Brompton bike from them.
On Monday I called spoke to an employee, Gary, he was cordial and tried to help out on my order, I ask for a refund if they could not deliver. I later received a refund so I guess they could not deliver on a bike deal they have on their website. You would think they would have someone assigned to save deals and talk to dissatisfied customers. I would not recommend ordering over the internet from this company, no matter how cheap the prices are. They have zero customer service skills and ZERO integrity. Please read the other dissatisfied customer reviews. There are still places left to do business in truth and with integrity that know how to treat a customer, but you won't find that here. Don't give them a penny of your hard earned money, they don't deserve it.
