Great staff. Love the help from the people who work there. I had an issue w/my Brompton bike - defective gear switch knob. No questions asked. They've given me a loaner while they're fixing it! Quality service for quality bikes. Thanks guys!

When I purchased a new bike online, they sent me one that had been gently used. There was obvious touch up work near the hinges and there were clear signs of wear where the front fork hooks over the frame when folded. It was minor enough that I did not pursue any action (also I am not in NYC). Mostly I am disappointed they weren't up front about this. I would purchase elsewhere in the future. Other minor online purchases have been fine, and I appreciate their large online presence. While I love the bike, I am not satisfied with their transparency of the state of the bike during the purchase.
Purchased a Xootr Scooter, Dahon and ultimately a Brompton s type. I have had nothing but great experienced with NYCewheels ever since my first purchase. They are professional, knowledgeable and will change the way you view personal transport. They are HIGHLY recommended!
Great looking store and friendly staff. Their website gave me a lot of informations upfront, but I wanted to test ride the bikes before making any decision. I test rode all the models I looked at and the staff was patient with me and explained all the different models. After I made my decisions they tuned up the bike immediately and I was able to ride my favorite bike home. Love my Dahon! Thanks guys
We are thrilled with our Bromptons and with NYCe Wheels! They had exactly what we wanted in stock and shipped it out immediately. The bikes were doubled boxed for safety which was amazing! Both bikes arrived perfectly. We strongly recommend NYCe Wheels! Thanks Team!
A very good bike shop. Really nice guys. They are very busy there, so some patience is required, but I went there multiple times to try different bikes and to make a purchase. I was happy with the way I was treated. Many bike shops are hotbeds of arrogance and condescension, but not here. Everyone was very friendly and genuinely seemed interested in helping me make the right purchase, which I did.
The new shop is set up beautifully, the staff are very friendly but their service is Lousy. I bought my bike in for repairs, got it back a couple of weeks later. Bike didn't function right so I bring it back to them. I dropped it off Friday, they said they couldn't look at it until monday. I waited until Wednesday and called them since no one got back with me about it. Whoever I spoke to said they were too busy and will look at it next week. I waited the following week and mark said it will be sometime this week But couldn't give me a timeline since they only have one mechanic. It Wouldve be nice if they would keep you updated on the status of the repairs. I would not go here for repairs unless you don't mind waiting a couple of weeks for them to look at your bike.
Great shop with a wide selection of bicycles, electric bikes, folding bikes, scooters and parts. Excellent service, too. I recently took my scooter in for a fairly significant repair, asked what day I could pick it up, and was told, "Oh, about half an hour from now." Went for coffee around the corner, and it was ready when I got back.
Although I live on the West Coast, I contacted these guys online with regards to getting an extra part for my Currie e-bike (specifically an extra battery), and they were Johnny-on-the-spot. I had this battery within a week. The guys at NYCeWheels seem to really care about the needs of their customers even if you didn t purchase a bike from them. They are not just there to sell things, but to service them as well to the best of their capacity.
The staff was amazingly helpful and friendly. I left the store with exactly what I was looking for in a fold-up bike. I give them and NYCeWheels the highest recommendation!
Called, got info, very nice on the pho....answered pho quickly...will go down to check out bikes, but I like not to be bothered when im shopping so if they are busy,,I wont feel ignored, thats fine with me..and if I like what I c...ill buy.
Just got my first kick scooter today!! I love their service! The guy was so nice and he helped me set up and ready to go out and ride my scooter! Amazing!!!!
I bought a KickPed scooter from NYCeWheels online. I had searched online for a while to find the scooter I wanted, mainly for scooting around with my kids, with some moderate level commutes (couple miles each way), but on a machine that felt like it was built for adults, not just a slightly scaled kids scooter.
NYCeWheels get this scooter custom designed/built for them and overall it's awesome! Super robust. Looks good. Rides smooth. Grown-man scooter. (ummm, yeah, maybe that's not a thing...). I'm 200lbs and 6'1" and the large version is perfect.
Only gripes: (1) You have to order direct from NYCeWheels website and they charged an extra $40 shipping to California (on top of what's already a fairly expensive scooter). Means it also took ~a week to arrive. Amazon has ruined me. If it's longer than 2 days I get feisty. I'd prefer if it NYCeWheels just sold it on Amazon and used their distribution network. And eBay also has some good shipping deals for sellers. (2) Wish wheels had a larger diameter for more speed. Fine for mucking around but once you're using as a commuter you want a bit more speed. (3) Foot board has carve outs for nimble turning (i.e. it's narrow) which is cool, but I feel like for me it's a bit too aggressively thin and no real way to cruise with two feet side by side.
But overall these are minor. It's a great scooter and I can tell will last a long time.
I live in Houston, and I found the store's website while searching for a folding bicycle online. I was in NYC over the Labor Day Weekend and took the opportunity to visit the store. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered the bike online and it arrived the same week. I am very happy with the bike and the shopping experience!
Great bicycle guys! They know their stuff and will answer any question you have. I bought my Dahon Mariner D7 from them and I am very happy with it. The only problem is that their service department is always busy. However, when I called to ask about brake pads, Peter told me they were pretty backed up, but told me exactly what part I needed and referred me to another shop. That is not something you find in most places. Most places will just tell you to bring it in and we will get to it when we can. That is confidence in your business.
I mail-ordered a Brompton folding bike, a limited-edition paint job that I couldn't get locally. I had a couple of special requests which they handled very well, and everything went fine until the bike arrived with a gouge in the paint because of inadequate packing. I emailed and didn't hear back for a few days, finally phoned, and they dug out my email and agreed that the damage was their fault. We discussed a couple of options and finally decided I should mail back the damaged bike. Meanwhile they dug around and were able to get another copy of this limited edition that by then was pretty much sold-out elsewhere. That one arrived in good order. So everything was great except for that one goof in packing, and sometimes the communication stops and then it starts up again. I've dealt with NYCEWheels in the past (could never get there in person) and they're a solid outfit.
I DONT KNOW IF THESE GUYS KNOW THEIR "STUFF" OR THERE JUST STUFFED. I BOUGHT A $3000 IF REACH ELECTRIC A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO. I NEEDED A BATTERY AND WHEN I CAME IN THEY WEREN'T EVEN CERTAIN THEY SOLD ME THE BIKE. IT LOOKED LIKE THE GUY WAS LOOKING AT A AILEAN MADE BICYCLE. YES I BOUGHT IT HERE. THEY TOOK MY NUMBER, WE WILL GET BACK TO YOU.
Terrific experience. Adam and Conner were a huge help. The transaction was handled by phone within minutes. Bike shipped (free) the same day. Will gladly do more business with NYCeWheels.
I found them extremely competent. Very helpful, especially Janee McLean. Answered all my questions, NYCe Wheels very professional. Note I came from New Jersey to use this store. Good experience, everyone I dealt with very professional.
As a person who loves electrics this place was a huge let down. They are very quick to dismiss you if you haven't purchased anything from them. I asked if they could receive a mostly assembled bike. Just needed the handle bars and pedals. I was told we don't know what kind of bike it is so no. Their store is very small and frankly a little on the hole in the wall side for a place that sells $5000 dollar bikes.
Update: I see they have updated their store. I would really like to visit but from reading some the comments it seems they are still the same old Selfish, Self Centered Company they have always been. Very unfortunate that they appear to be thriving with such poor customer service. You should treat all customers with equal amount of respect and desire to help. Rather than just the folks who buy your products. Which in some cases it seems the poor service spills over to paying customers as well.
Consistently the best shop to buy Brompton parts. My preferred shop for parts and advice. I always buy through NYCeWheels rather than the local shop because they always have the part I need when I need it.
Outstanding product from Brompton. I brought the Nickel Black Edition. Service was definitely on point. Some of the best response times and transparency that you will ever get. Which is really important especially when purchasing a product this expensive. Will buy my next Brompton for the wife from them as well even though there are dealers closer to me. I would rather have them ship it to me assembled, tuned and ready to go.
After spending a lot of time researching the best bike for me needs I came across couple of nycewheels videos. I finally decided to go there since I live close by, the store is very well organized and friendly looking - their huge central park wall art looks fantastic! Michelle spend a good amount of time with me and let me try out all the different models on the street. Finally decided to go with the Tern Link D8 - I love this bike!
I searched the web for the best price on a particular scooter and NYCEWHEELS had it. They then packaged and shipped the next day and it arrived the day they promised. Could not be happier.
Customer service used to be so good and friendly at this place. What happened?! Now I gotta deal with a BS attitude from an employee who clearly has no idea how to talk to customers? I don't think so. Brompton Junction is more convenient for me anyway, so I'll be headed there instead.
Traveled a long way to go to this place, as the pictures show a vast array of bikes....not so when you get there, oh they can order you a bike, but not a lot on display. Not to mention after standing there for nearly 40 minutes and barely got a look, I finally had enough and walked out. I suppose if you don't "look" like you will spend the $$$ you don't command any attention. I found another place downtown that I'm ordering my Tern Verge 18 from. Thanks for nothing and wasting my time.
I was looking for a full size bicycle that folds , I also just wanted a single speed. I wound up purchasing a Montague Boston. I love this bicycle, although it is not quite as compact as I would like when folded, it still fits well in my camper. My salesman Adam was great, and very helpful! It was missing the reflector in the front wheel and I m trying to find one that matches the rear one. The grips are hard on my hands, I think I m going to wrap them in leather grip wraps. Overall a very positive experience, I would buy it again!
In short, I have been going back several times and it seems like I've received a better experience here. It still helps to research yourself first before going. Within NYC, they do have the most display and selection of Bromptons and Brompton related products. So I'd update my overall rating to four.
Last visit was due to a recall on the Brompton.
First off, I wasn't notify by them of the recall, my brother who knew I had a Brompton found out for me... otherwise, I would have still been in the dark.
I'd called them up and they seem to know about the recall and they just told me to bring it in. Worked it out to come in the morning as they couldn't tell me over the phone on how long it'll take. Due to changes with work, I had missed the time and instead brought it in around 3pm. Luckily, they weren't too busy and the person was much more helpful.
It was very unsettling at first as they did not have any of my info, like there database was erase (that explains why they didn't notify me of the recall). I thought to myself, oh here we go again, but fortunately, it only took him a few minutes and I was back on track. Took the bike in and told me 1 to 1.5 hrs. Finish earlier than expected and I received my bike without any hiccups.
April 2016 Would like to like them, but can't...
So long story short, do your research before coming here, tell them exactly what you need down to the tire type. Call them beforehand to make sure they have the accessories in stock to save you multiple trips. Grab someone from the back office if you have a serious questions.
Bought a Brompton from them over a month ago and sales person was really nice (multiple times by different employees) but unfortunately, little of them have any knowledge of the Brompton. From not knowing the gear change of a 6 speed to not knowing the accessories and their usage (they didn't know that the Brompton T bag rain cover is located inside the side pocket). Luckily I had watch all their YouTube videos from them to know mostly what I wanted and needed.
You might get lucky and get a guy from the back office, and those are the one that can help you efficiently. Also they don't seem to have all the accessories in stock. Don't bother leaving your name or a callback, they never called me back...I waited over a month with no callback, and only found out they had restock weeks ago when I called.
Great service, great bike. The staff were extremely patient and knowledgeable, and spent a huge amount of time talking with me and other customers about our options. They helped me pick the perfect bike and answered all my questions.
