You can DEF tell that the hotel had a makeover! Yo...
You can DEF tell that the hotel had a makeover! You smell the new carpet and paint. Also great decor throughout the hotel. The check-in process is kind of slow. Make sure you tell the person checking you in that you want your credit card tied in to the wristband. This will make purchases throughout the resort SO much easier. Unfortunately I didn't find this out until I got to the room. So I called the front desk and was told I had to wait in the LONG line to have it done! NO Thanks...Everyone must get a wristband. This will also be your room key (nice touch) and entrance to waterpark. My room was in tower 1. I had asked to be next to my car so I could come and go easier. They put me in the opposite side of the parking LOT. There is NO parking by tower one. Be prepared to lug your stuff halfway around the resort before you get to your room (they do offer carts. I suggest you grab one as soon as you get there). The room size was perfect for 2 adults and 2 kids. Was very clean and all the towels and sheets all NEW. Would have been nice to get a patio walkout being we were on the 1st floor. Again the front desk didn't offer it. I would have gladly paid the difference. The bathroom door is a slide door and doesn't lock (smh). Waterpark- was 99% indoors. They offer towels in the waterpark. No need to bring any or bring the towels from the room. There is a small pool outside with a chairs and nice bar set up. I would think this would be perfect for the adults to get away from the noise from inside. There were lifeguards all over the place. Mostly teens and college students. I felt safe letting the kids do their thing. The wave pool is small and does not create many big waves. Mostly geared to kids I would say 5-12. The wave pool goes from zero depth to 5 ft. They had a GREAT area for kids 2-6. This is there bread and butter area. The other slides for the older kids were just OK. Plenty of bathrooms, tables, chairs throughout the waterpark. Also, there is a couple of restaurants inside of the waterpark. Again everything was cleaned and well organized. There are a few cabanas inside the waterpark that you can purchase. Those were nice and had tv's inside. Plenty of activities for the kids to do other than stay in the waterpark also. Climbing wall, mini gold, arcade, small mining area, bowling (2 or 3 lanes). Keep in mind you have to pay extra for these things. The Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream shop and Dunkin Donuts inside the hotel is a nice touch. Just wish the Dunkin Donuts was open longer hours and there toaster wasn't broken (SMH). Of course the food and other stuff are overpriced, but I've come to expect this by now. Also, being a block away from Great America and Gurnee Mills mall is GREAT. If visiting from out of state your only about 40-45 mins or so to Downtown Chicago. To wrap it up I would say this would be a GREAT place to come to during the winter time since it's close by and can solve that cabin fever., but if you want a waterpark resort you have to go to Wisconsin Dells.
