Tom Lee arrived promptly at our home to evaluate an air conditioning problem. He resolved that issue efficiently and inspected two other units at no charge while giving us some very good advice on maintenance going forward. About the tech, Mr. John Cantu: Argumentative!
An obnoxious person who was the main reason I did not hire John Moore for the job. When I asked for an explanation about the 3-times the fair market price quoted, Mr. Cantu said that anybody with one truck can do the job but John Moore has newer trucks and higher overhead therefore the cost to hire John Moore was.. well, More! During the conversation Mr. Cantu also said, sir, you don t know how a business is run . I must mention that I own three business but Mr. Cantu just guessed that I was unaware of the business basics.
About the company, John Moore: Price structure is extremely high. Their prices start with a trip cost plus a minimum basic service cost. In my case $69.00 trip charge + minimum starting point of the plumbing quote was $340 then the rest is billed above that. In other words, if we take Mr. Cantu s remarks into account, $69 trip charge + $340 overhead recovery + cost of the actual work done.

I ended up hiring ELL-DEE plumbing, a local family owned operation. Good, honest, courteous, professional guys and reasonably priced quality work.
Actually this was an unnecessary trip per our fault. At the time I was speaking to the dispatcher I should have stayed on longer and told her that my husband had discovered he had installed a faucet cartridge incorrectly and when he went to take a shower realized if he turned it the opposite direction we had plenty of hot water. We did not know John Moore was coming but thankfully I met him right as he pulled up to the door and everything seems to be okay now thank you.
Roman did a great job. He performed some roof repair and installed 2 rooftop solar attic fans. He is very knowledgeable and personable.

Great fast upfront service. No charge until the diagnosis is complete. Then i find out it's covered under 10yr warranty so the service and repair WAS FREE! Talk about a win. Very satisfied. Now i will be singing with the John Moore commercial instead of being frustrated by another jingle.

William Brooks, HVAC senior technician, did a great job. I had a new unit installed and the heat kept tripping the breaker. As soon as the problem was explained to him he stated that he was pretty sure he knew what the problem was. He was correct and had it fixed in a very short period of time! I have used John Moore Services several times and will never hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Father (80 yrs old) purchased and had John Moore install a brand new A/C & Heat System ($10,000) in 8/2013. John Moore took total advantage of my Father! Technicians arrived @ 3 pm and were here until 2 am b/c they couldn't get it to work once installed. They refused to leave and return the next day. Were supposed to provide portable A/C units to get us through the night; did not have them on truck. Reinforcements called, it took six monkeys to screw in a light bulb. Called Customer Care to report and request for someone to come out an re-inspect system to make sure all was correct; never heard back from them. Father passed 4/1/16; home flooded 4/18/16; as his daughter I'm still recovering. Today, 7/7/16, I scheduled a $69 service call and the Technician immediately pointed out all the flaws from installation; algae on the inside; etc., he wanted to nickel & dime me for everything that should have been done by John Moore upon installation instead of "free" as a corrective courtesy. And, he made excuses for why he couldn't go under my house to reconnect the transfer lines to my converter box (e.g., too old, didn't have coveralls, flat out didn't want to go under house). Called John Moore to address service call, technician and the fact that NOTHING was fixed and he didn't even put my system back together as he found it (left undone). I got referred to Customer Care, which can and will do NOTHING for you. Technician wants payment for NOTHING! I will never use John Moore again and I will tell everyone I know that they are a RIP OFF!!! Oh, my favorite part, Customer Care calls after-the-fact and puts everything on my Dad for lack of maintenance of system over the three years he was alive!!! REALLY!!!

Horrible!!!! I don't recommend John Moore to anyone... customers service gave me and my wife the run around promising call backs that we never got. We purchased a A/C unit for $6000 in 2013 from JM and thought we would get great service and unit fixed for a reasonable price, not so the price to fix the unit was way more than we expected even with the warranty. Very disappointed with the way we where treated...we also asked for refund and we still have not received the money into our account. I work in the hospitality business and JM customer service could learn a thing or two from us....

Russell detected the hot water heater problem immediately and corrected it. He gave his recommendations for regular servicing to prevent future problems. He showed me and explained it in a way that I can check for myself. He helped with other issues while in the attic such as rodents and air filters. I felt that he was knowledgeable but was not a pushy sales guy. I will call him directly for any other home problems.

Yes! AC work can be expensive. What's worse is the dishonesty amongst some HVAC workers. If you don't know...sometimes can fall prey to it. Refreshing to run into a company with professionals like Jaime who lays out the good and bad while providing multiple choices. Thanks John Moore!!

My ac stopped worked so I called John Moore and a technician was scheduled for the next day. The technician arrived, took the panel off the outside ac unit and said that the compressor was overheating causing the cut off to activate. He said I needed a whole new unit (he checked nothing else apart from putting a meter on). He then went into my attic, checked around and said I had 2 choices, a complete replacement (unit, ducts, collars, furnace @ over $16000 or the same without changing the furnace @ over $13000. He immediately had his financial person call me but my credit wasn't good enough so he left. Before he left though he told me that if the unit overheats it will take several hours for it to cool down before I can reset it.
Sure enough, that afternoon it tripped again but within 10 minutes I had it running again so I called in a second opinion.
Another AC guy came over late that evening and found that the only problem was that the outside unit was so dirty that it was stopping airflow causing the unit to seriously overheat. He also said that the cutoff switch wasn't directly connected to the compressor so the compressor heat would not cause the cutoff to trip. He said that the John Moore guys was talking BS.
He spent 20 minutes with a hose cleaning the side vents on the unit and immediately the unit cooled down and inside the house the temperature difference was almost immediate.
He then checked the rest of the unit and found that the dirt was the only problem.
So he charged me $134 for a 8pm Friday night callout and fix.
He asked me if the John Moore technician had said about the dirt and I said no, as he had not even mentioned it.
He said that he came across John Moore doing the same scam all the time and while we were speaking he received a call from a 70 yr old woman who had just been told the same thing from John moore.
With all their adverts they come across as a company who had high moral values when in reality they want to get as much money from you as possible regardless of what you actually need.
Outcome of this story, get a second opinion after getting a quote from John Moore (or don't even use them) plus wash all the dirt from the sides of your unit 2 or 3 times per year (the sides are like a car radiator and you want those metal fins as clean as possible).
To say I'm disappointed with John Moore is an understatement and I will tell everyone from now on to avoid them like the plague.

Hired an electrician (see John Moore salesperson) came in to fix two special z-wave switches and one timer switch that we were having some trouble installing. $1,000 and three days later I no longer had z-wave switches or motion installed and the guy basically disappeared. Called John Moore to complain to be told I would have a quality control specialist calling me to set up an appointment. This never happened and when I called 45 days later and after getting it fixed by another company later to check in on this John Moore informed me it was my fault for not checking in on the visit and there was nothing further they could do. The other electrician cost only a couple hundred dollars.
Long story short find a local guy that won't try to rip you off and actually cares about the work they do, not some big company with 500 technicians out there trying to upcharge the customer

The WORST customer service I have experienced in a long time. I contacted John Moore because I know they have serviced Houston for many years. I made an appointment weeks ago to have my Ac unit inspected and tuned up. I took off work today for my appointment that was supposed to be between 10 am and 2 pm. At 10, they called to confirm my appointment, I had to correct them on the time. At 2 they called to say they were running behind and asked if I would like to reschedule. I told them no because I took off work, I would wait. At 4 I called to check in and they said my appointment was cancelled because I didn't answer their calls at 10 and 2. I informed him that was incorrect and I did answer. He told me he couldn't help me so I asked to speak to a manager. Roderick got on the phone and said they would "squeeze" me in. When I called back at 6 pm to check in, they told me I wasn't scheduled until October. Once again, I got a manager and they promised to be out tonight. I called at 8 pm to make sure they were still coming, the man that answered had no idea what I was talking about so he gave me to Michelle at dispatch. She said no one was coming because several of their vehicles were broken down and there service technicians were all too sick from the heat. Was she even going to call and tell me no one was coming? Not once did anyone apologize to me. Roderick was rude and unhelpful and the same can be said about Michelle. When I called at 4 the guy on the phone told me there were still 83 appointments on the board and most wouldn't be seen today. What a crappy company , I'll never call them again. What a wasted day!

David Lawrence with John Moore managed the team and took care of my home during the complete repiping of my home. He treated my home with loving care, and responded to me so quickly. He recognized problems, and contacted me in regards to issues as he discovered me, and texted me every day when he arrived and when he left. He showed up on a Saturday when I was freaking out, and he took care of all the small issues that arise when you have a contractor lead. It cost me more to use John Moore, but the team with David Lawrence was the best. and I would highly recommend them again.

All my bathroom drains were stopped up. I got them draining again, but I suspected they were only partially open, so I called for an estimate. John Moore only does in-person estimates, but it's no charge. I was able to get an appointment quickly, and I really liked that they sent the name and picture of the plumber. It made me feel safer. He arrived on time and was very professional and knowledgeable. He gave me full answers on my options and the costs of each option, and he answered all my questions. I balked at the price, and he offered a very reasonable financing option. I think the prices were a little high (which I expected because John Moore seems to be a top tier company), so I took off one star. When I declined their services I appreciated very much that he did not pressure me on it.
