We love this place! We were returning guests and just really enjoy our stay. The weather was miserable however we did manage to swim inside this time and my kids loved kid care. We also stopped at the stables and they were kind enough to let my 2 year old and 6year old pet some of the horses! They were over the moon. Really like vacations here.

The property is historic and beautiful. Just the right amount of restoration so as not to lose the charm. All the staff are the best I have ever experienced. We joked that the interview process must include a personality screening. Highly recommend this hotel.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Homestead, have always enjoyed the golf course and the activities but that being said, I don't mind vintage rooms but I do mind not having a clean room. My room was very dog eared and not clean at all, in fact the carpet was bunched up and dirty. One of the chairs was all torn up. I don't have a problem with the $300 per night fee, but I do when the room is in the condition it was in.

Overelaborate rest home. The room was equal to a budget hotel. Nine pillows per bed doesn't change a mediocre room. Food is overpriced. Activities are the only break in the grinding boredom but expect to pay 150+ per person.

It's a beautiful resort with a good amount to do around the campus. My biggest gripe is that parts of the resort were really chilly when it was cold out, because of open doors and possibly poor insulation, and you have to walk a ways outdoors to get to the pools, hot tubs, and restaurant.

All that said, it's still a lovely place to go around Christmastime, and I suspect it would be an even more gorgeous experience in the summer, when the setup of the resort encourages you to go outside.

I was expecting 5 stars, but unfortunately this place is far from it. The room we had was nice and large and the majestic appeal didn t disappoint. However when it came to service, food and caring about customer experience it all fell apart. Short notes ... daily maid service failed to replace towels and glasses, activity desk was all too happy to cancel activities when only 1 family was reserved (I don t care if it was a weekday), the bowling and kids facility was closed for our entire stay for technical difficulties which then also excluded the only other eating option and lastly, there were not enough eating options for a destination resort (one tiny restaurant or room service).

We loved our room with the balcony. We had a fun, relaxing three days at the Homestead. We did the Cascade Falls hike and saw 12 waterfalls and learned a lot about local trees and plants from our guide. We enjoyed a delicious dinner and danced to a live band in the main dining room. The trout almondine was wonderful! Horseback riding with our trail guide Mike was enjoyable and we learned about the history of the Homestead. We really enjoyed the mineral springs in the Serenity Garden. I had a fantastic haircut and style at the spa. The staff was friendly and helpful. We went there to celebrate my husband's birthday and will definitely return.

The building is absolutely beautiful! It was built in 1892 and it still captures the charm of that age. The indoor pool was one of our favorite places to visit aside from the octagon pool in the Serenity Garden. The natural hot spring fed pool was so relaxing! They are a tad bit pricey but that is to be expected at a resort.

Beautiful historic place. It's ginormous with many activities available. Only real qualm is that the air conditioning in the room and a few of the banquet spaces were outdated and didn't work well.

Great staff and neat historic building.

However, insanely expensive for what is offered. The food is mediocre at best and priced as if 4 star chef is preparing it. Every activity costs if booked via resort.... besides the indoor pool. The staff is very kind and deserve tips, however the resort charges a large service fee for anything, so that's the tip and not advertised as such until the bill arrives morning of checkout.

Neat place to checkout, however I wouldn't go again even with a Living Social deal (as we did this initial visit). Just way too cost prohibitive for what's offered.

I had a wonderful time at the Homestead. The grounds are breathtaking, the food is delicious (and plentiful) and the staff is welcoming. I would recommend this place with all of the amenities for families, business or romantic get-a-ways!

The Omni Homestead Resort is my little piece of Heaven on Earth. I always wished it would snow while we were there and IT DID during our last visit. It was as beautiful as I imagined it would be.

Very high priced with every little item being an additional charge. Also didn't realize the number of children that would be at such a prestigious resort. We were unable to do most of our desired activities due to over booking. This trip was sort of last minute being booked only a month in advance but we didn't realize that meant that we would find ourselves out of luck in booking stuff.

Beautiful structure with a lot of history. However our room was nothing special with stained carpet and furniture. The property grounds are nice but the gardens were unkept with weeds. I'm hoping this is just a result of Covid and maybe they are short handed. We were there Aug. 14-17, 2020. We also had the opportunity to visit the Spa for massages and that was awesome and highly recommended. If you looking to relax you will like this resort. Other than the resort there is nothing else to do in the area.

I attended the resort for work purposes. My 2 night stay had been prepaid by the agency that I work for. I was VERY DISAPPOINTED at check in. I was asked to provide a credit card or debit card and I provided my debit card. After walking away from the desk I received an alert
from my bank stating my account was OVERDRAWN! I quickly stepped back to the desk and asked why was my card charged? The
Desk attendant stated that $100 per night stay is HELD and released at checkout! I was furious as the first attendant did not tell me this. On that debit card was the money that was to be used for my meals. I was fortunate, unlike some of the others at the conference, and had additional funds to cover my meals. Again, I was VERY DISAPPOINTED with the check in process as were MANY others as they were not made unaware at check in either and were told to "check you account" and that's how they found out. Needless to say, as with any funds that must be refunded to your account is not immediate and takes several days! So I must wait for my money to be returned to my account.

What fantastic service during our stay last week! ...

What fantastic service during our stay last week! With the resort adjusting to COVID-19 regulations and guidelines (e.g., wearing masks and social distancing), there were individual staff members that went above and beyond during our stay.

Mila (Front Desk): Upon arrival, Mila informed us about the pool reservations and reserved a time block for us for one of the days we were at the resort. She assured us that there was also some free time blocks for the pool, and informed us of the COVID-19 guidelines that the hotel was adhering to.

Travis (Outdoor Adventures): Because we didn't book anything before coming to the resort, we immediately went to Travis. He gave us fantastic recommendations about the available activities on the weekend we were in Hot Springs, VA. He helped us create our itinerary for the weekend.

Jennifer (Jefferson's): When we went to Jefferson's, there were always many resort patrons attempting to order. Jennifer, who was at the bar, ever made sure to take our order when we entered, which meant that we didn't have to wait too long to receive our food and drinks.

Ava and Colleen (Jefferson's on the fourth of July): On the fourth of July, there were many resort patrons at Jefferson's. While it was takeout only, Ava and Colleen promptly took our takeout order, ensured that we obtained proper seating outside for the fireworks, and followed up with us throughout the night, even though they didn't need to.

Krystal and Sean (Woody's): With a revised menu at Woody's, and a large number of guests interested in the pizzas, Krystal and Sean were very gracious whenever we or others had questions and provided us with exact estimates of when we would receive our food.

Brian (Cascade Gorge hike): Brian was hilarious, witty, and kind! Everyone who comes to the Homestead needs to go on the Cascade Gorge hike with him because you will be laughing throughout while learning about the flora, waterfalls, and American history.

Linda (Falconry Academy): We loved taking the Falconry class with Linda. She taught us much about the work that goes into training the hawks, falcons, and owl at the Homestead. She chose Remington (Harris hawk) to go out during our class, and it was a fantastic experience seeing her hunt and fly around parts of the property.

Love the Omni Homestead. It s old style Virginia grace and style. The spa and the serenity garden are a MUST. The zip line tour is super fun. The guided hikes and/or the self directed hikes are worth every moment. Whether you are sitting in the grand lobby listening to their pianist while drinking your favorite beverage or playing pool or eating a speculator meal in the main dining room, you will love this place. The breakfast buffet should not be missed.

Beautiful property which is a bit out of the way. If you are a golfer, you will love it! If you are not a golfer, there are a lot of other activities are available on property. The arcade was great for our 5 yr old grandson, but a bit pricey at $2.00 per game.

My wife reported that Suzy at the spa gave her a wonderful facial. The spa is really clean and the indoor pool was great (it rained almost our entire visit).

The meals are ok, but we, and our guests, found most of the food over-salted, especially the fried food.

This is such a beautiful property and so worth the mountain drive to get there. The spa and serenity garden is absolutely amazing. After my spa day, I had dinner in the Jefferson's lounge followed by a glass of wine in the grand lobby while enjoying the piano. Disappointed that it rained and I missed out on exploring more of the property. I will definitely go back!

The Homestead is tired. The paint is chipped, the rugs are BADLY worn , and dirty. I have visited 20 times over 25 years, and the hotel has lost its' luster.
Faucets turn in the opposite direction, windows and doors fit badly , with air and light leaks around the sills.
The service and food were very good, the location superb, but the whole physical plant needs a huge ( and expensive ) overhaul if they want to keep up in the ultra-competitive resort hotel market.

The Homestead was absolutely beautiful. The beds are comfortable and the room was well appointed. There were times when I felt transported back in time. I LOVED the afternoon tea. You must participate if you have the chance. It felt so good to sit, listen to the pianist, and sip hot tea. It was an amazing break from my day-to-day craziness. I highly recommend the Homestead to anyone wanting peaceful luxury and a break from it all.

Disapointing for such a classy place. Dead flies in the window frame of our room, Stale sandwiches in the Market Place. Broken window in the library. The old building can clearly do with some maintenance. Friendly staff, although I can do without the 'The God bless America' from our waiter.

Beautiful resort with wonderful landscaping. Don't come here for luxury, come here to relax and smell the mountain air. Though the rooms are not the best, and some parts of the hotel could use some attending to, it still is worth visiting. It is definitely a VA gem that should be visited.

This place is why the word RESORT was invented! The grandeur of the entire place is breath taking! Opulent without making you feel uncomfortable, always someone available to assist you and very respectful. The outdoor commonplace has everything any family or couple could ask for. Worth the drive, which is also beautiful and a must do for at least once in a lifetime!

A FABULOUS place for vacation! Beautiful resort, fantastic service, wonderful spa and so many activities from zip lining to snowboarding, hiking, horseback riding and my favorite, sporting clays. If you decide to do the shooting range, ask for Frady as your guide! He was great with beginners and experienced shooters alike. Can't wait to go back in April.

The best hospitality and world class service there is. Every time my wife and I stay there they treat us as special guests. They will take care of anything you need and arrange for your activities to fit your time there. Rooms are bright, cozy, relaxing, and always get great sleep. Food is top of the line and I could drive there just for their cooking.

My wife and I decided we wanted to check out the Homestead for our honeymoon because the idea of a quiet spa weekend in the mountains sounded perfect. It ended up being a huge disappointment.

When we arrived, we were greeted by the bellhop (who was excellent and kind) but upon entering we found the carpet in the lobby was noticeably stained and dirty. I gave it a pass for it being a historic hotel, but when we arrived in the room the "historic charm" continued -- wine stains on the carpets, dirty towels, and a cockroach on the bed. We're usually very easy going people so we decided to stick it out and explore... but it never got better. With only one restaurant open for lunch and dinner, we had to eat at Jefferson's more times than we cared for (the service, again, was fine but the ambiance was lacking as we were frequently the only people inside). Additionally, we were excited about a reservation we made for the Dining Room on Wednesday night, but learned from the hotel brochure that they weren't even open on that night for dinner even though the website still let us confirm the reservation! After talking with the concierge, we were told it was actually OPEN because they ended up having enough reservations but it was usually closed -- it was confusing to say the least. While planning this trip, months in advance, our "personal trip planner" failed to mention that a week-long stay isn't ideal, as nothing is open until Thursday, and we'd have better luck visiting over the weekend. The best time we had was off the resort grounds at the local brewery and French restaurant.

For the price of the stay, we were expecting a lot more, a resort experience that would show us hospitality at every turn. But honestly, we felt the level of care was on par with an airport hotel (but even they have more dining options). A place to stop and wait. We decided to cut our trip early and head home. It we could have been fully refunded, I would have eagerly welcomed our money back. I will say, the staff was at the very least helpful in making sure we weren't charged for the remaining days of our stay or the our cancelled Spa services.

Dress code: I was told I couldn't Eat at either place since all I brought was Jeans and a T, I found out I could have went to the wine bar and ordered from both places. But we found good restaurants outside so maybe it was a blessing lol.

AC was out in our room a guy came out that night to fit is he opened the door and the compressor came on and he said fixed. well it went out right after he left, next morning I told the front desk it was still broke and we were leaving came back and found a note saying it was fixed yet it wasn't, then had to move rooms. I was really nice about this issue and only got 1/2 the first night room rate, I feel that wasn't enough for all my troubles.

The second room's TV was way smaller and the picture kept freezing

I booked the 180 a night deal when to check in and they tried to bait me into paying more almost 1500 bucks for 4 night.

OH, and your fees, outrageous! almost 300 bucks in fees.

Hotels was nice and the staff.

The staff is ok, bartenders need help. The room..well, frankly a huge disappointment. Reserved upgraded king view with terrace, got a run down room with DIRTY windows, dirty carpet, and a bathroom that looks like it last had maintenance when Sam Snead stayed there in 1959. The terrace is a shared astroturfed rooftop. All over the property, the carpets are dirty, floors sticky. Grounds are nice, staff hit and miss. Some helpful, some pushy (waiters). There is nothing exceptional about this property, we are disappointed.

We had lunch at the Jefferson on Thanksgiving day ordered a chicken sandwich it was so tuff and so spicy and a terrible meal the waitress finally came and only brought us the bill we paid and left. It took a long time for the sandwich it was about 230 to 3 in the afternoon. Was not a good experience

Stayed here with family and was not at all disappointed! The pool is lovely, the golf courses (I'm told) are fantastic, staff is accommodating and friendly, and the grounds are absolutely gorgeous! Plenty of kids here seemed happy, as did adults, so it's fun for all ages! Would highly recommend, I had an absolutely lovely time here. There were even fireworks for Fiesta Friday!

Spent the weekend at the Homestead. We had the most wonderful time there. If you have an opportunity to stay there it will be the best decision you can make. There is so much history - it is like you stepped back in time. I would recommend taking the tour at 10 am. You will learn alot about the hotel and the presidents that have stayed there.

The staff is wonderful!! Helpful, informative and very friendly. Make you feel so at home. Do not miss the breakfast in the dining room! A HUGE shout out to Arthur and Kenroy in the dining room. We are so glad to have met such distinguished and funny men. They are A++++. They really added to our stay. Can't say enough about them.

The Homestead Resort is one of my family's favorite places to visit! The staff is ALWAYS friendly and attentive! There are so many activities for the family to enjoy! We also love all the places we can sit and read or people watch or enjoy a snack or beverage. Our kids love exploring the property and have so much fun. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is we visited between Christmas and New Year and it was so very crowded. We were not able to get dinner reservations any of the nights we were there until 8:30pm or later. That was a little too late for our kids. Other than that, it was a wonderful visit!!
