The customer service I received was terrible. Never had a call out so cant comment on this, so this review is just about the service I personally received.
I received my renewal, called as the price went up, despite having a no call out discount, to see if they could help, they couldn't. I said fine leave it as it is to auto renew and they then said that they couldn't do this anymore because the advisor had been into my policy account (didn't tell me this before doing it). I asked if there was anything else he could do to help and he said no....ridiculous. Common sense to the rescue? Absolutely not. I'm happy to accept no discount can be offered, I just want the policy to renew and now it cant.

I will be cancelling my policy with Green Flag after waiting over 3 hours for a tow vehicle on this extremely hot day. The number of calls and text messages sent from your garage (richford motor services) giving me false information regarding the expected response time was unacceptable and almost insulting.
After they eventually towed me home i called them to try and discuss my complaint with a manager and was met with the most rude and obnoxious call handler who refused to even discuss my complaint or put me though to a senior member of staff

Purchased a month ago to start cover 10 days ago. Impossible to add my policy to their app despite repeated attempts. Nobody answers the phone. on constant hold. Answering repeated "Security/Money Laundering" questions, after questions. DEEPLY regret using these people. I'm not covered and just spend endless time on the phone and internet trying to set up my account. Thank heavens i didn't break down!!!!!! Still on hold.
Update. After spending another 30 minutes nearly, on the phone was answered by Wilson. He talked me through deleting the app, reinstalling the app. Putting my policy number in again, with and without the GF. Over and over. "Your policy cannot be traced" again and again. Solution = Wilson said "It will probably sort itself out in the next two or three weeks!!!!". Since I wasn't born yesterday I asked Wilson to cancel the policy and issue a full refund. Silence, asked him if he was doing it, "Yes". more silence. Said I would receive refund in up to 14 days. Asked him if I would receive an email confirming cancellation as i has requested. "Yes", more silence. Asked him when I would receive email. he replied "two to three hours!"

Two completely different experiences with the greenflag rescue service. First was great from Macadams rescue' in summer 2019 who arrived promptly and was able to fix my car (albeit temporary) so I could still use it. Fab!
The second experience was completely different with a difference company called Richfords Garage, who not only took over 4 hours to arrive, but was unable repair, or even fully diagnose the fault on my Citroen. He was also not equipped to tow me as he attended in small van. I then spent a further 90 minutes waiting their towtruck to collect me and take me to my garage. From start to finish this saga took over 7 hours to be recovered just 9 miles. Very Frustrating ! I made an official complaint to greenflag and although she expressed sympathy, the adviser seemed accepting as if this is normal occurrence.

I have always used either the AA or RAC but decided to give green flag a go. I have never had to use a call out service before but yesterday I had to. So from the call in via their 800 number I was dealt with by this polite English speaking lady who was quick and very professional. She quickly found my details and dispatched a van. 35 mins later they arrived and I live in a remote part of Cornwall. The guy got right down to business and within 20 mins find it was a fault with my immobilizer and fixed it on the spot. Tell you what I was pretty darn happy and definitely can give green flag the thumbs up.

He fixed the car there and then and we were soon on our way back home. We were so relieved as it was late Saturday night and we was in a hurry to get home too. I called out green Flag on Friday 6th July 2018 - as My car had a issue , I pulled in to the lay by and called them straight away, it was 17:25, when i got off the phone I got a message someone will be with me at 19:00, i had no choice but to wait, As it got closer to 19:00 , i got a message saying the recovery will now be at 19:25, I got a call at 19:35 and they informed me that the recovery was running behind as ' they were stuck in traffic''. Then i got another message saying that recovery was delayed until 20:00pm, as it got closer i got a message firstly saying it would now be 20:25, simultaneously i got a phone call saying the recovery was delayed because the recovery was stuck at a previous job.. i lost faith at this time after waiting 2.30 hours! so i tried starting my car, it started, still and engine light on, so i drove home taking a risk, i asked GF to cancel my call out.
so my question is why so many delays, was anyone coming? where they stuck in traffic or stuck in another job? i felt like they were just lying to me and raising my hopes.

After my partner broken down in Sheffield (Friday 1st nov 19) she used the Green Flag App to request assistance. This was straight forward, and she had a text message with a time of 90 minutes.
The van (from Richford Motors) arrived over 5 hours later. She had a number of text messages and a further 9 telephone calls constantly advising of delays with the driver as he was busy . Their whole process seemed unorganised and very amateur.
Several calls she made to Green Flag took over 20 minutes to get through.
Our joint Green Flag policy will now be cancelled as we have rejoined The AA, which is more expensive, but they do have the man power to deliver when you call them. Lesson learned with Green Flag.

Greenflag use local garages - so you know that help is not far away - where ever you break down. You are kept up to date via texts or 'phone calls - so you know when and more importantly who will be arriving to help. One star knocked off because their renewal price is always more than the price you can obtain direct from their website as a 'new' customer. I've been with them for a fair few years now - and I regularly shop around for the best price for all sorts of things - so they must be doing something right.

For the 2nd year running I received a renewal from Green Flag that was 28% higher than I was quoted online for exactly the same cover. Now, this is a policy that auto-renews unless you take the time to call them to cancel. Imagine how many people allow it to auto-renew and pay a 28% premium for the privilege! Yes, the premium for renewing automatically was 28% both years and I don't believe in coincidences, this appears to be a policy rather than an error.
Last year I had to go through a long-winded charade of is it the same vehicle, same address, same cover etc? Only to be told that the online price was subject to a promotion, which is why it was cheaper. They really must think we are all fools. This process wasted around 30 minus of my time.
To their credit, this time round they immediately stated that the price online was an introductory price (yeah right!) but they wouldn't want to penalise "loyal" customers so they would match the price I gave them. Interestingly, the agent did not check online to ensure the information I was providing her was accurate. A sceptic may think she already knew from what was on screen that the price I was providing was accurate.
It would appear that this is a bit of a game for Green Flag. Charge loyal customers a large premium in the hope that they won't check anything online and/or just allow it to auto-renew. I am sure this is very profitable process...but we should shame them into removing this shameful practice and/or check online for a price before allowing anything to renew.
There are many examples of successful organisations failing after customers got wise to some questionable practices. Let's hope that Green Flag come to their senses before they find customers voting with their feet.
There is nothing illegal in what Green Flag are doing, but you must question their ethics when they routinely charge a premium for loyalty.

After numerous years with Green Flag, this is only the second time I called them for help, and clearly them contacting Richford Motor Services was no help at all.
Monthly payment policy now cancelled! Having no breakdown cover is better than having a Green Flag policy who seem to think it is acceptable to use a virtual recovery company that seems to have no trucks or drivers available!

Keep well clear of this awful company! You only find out how meagre the service is when you breakdown. We ll only move you 10 miles! Call centre is totally disorganised and not capable of providing any sort of service. Use RAC or AA. If you are running low on funds, try GEM. My relatives came to visit from Oldham. They treated them like something you would scrape off your shoes.

I had cause to ring Green Flag today, Saturday 21 April 2018) and spoke to a lovely lady named Andrea on the phone. She dealt with my call quickly and efficiently and arranged for a service agent to come out to my home. Within 15 minutes I had received three text messages updating me on the progress of my call, including the name of the service agent who would attend. They promised to attend within 1 hour 15 of my call.
However, 45 minutes later a lovely man named Pal from Mansfields arrived and had my car fixed within 5 minutes. He also took it for a short test to make sure it was ok. He was very pleasant and helpful.
I was extremely impressed by the service all round. Well done Green Flag!

My wife's car failed to start after she finished work, 2 days after it had been serviced. So after meeting with her as it was late at night.I called Green Flag.
Shortly after I got a text saying it would take 60 minutes for someone to arrive. 10 minutes later I get a call from the person coming to fix the car -- Paul Mort, he says he will be with us in 10 minutes time. He arrives very friendly chap. Jumps straight to the problem gets the car started up.
Then with the backstory in mind tells me that the car had likely had the power switched on without the engine while being serviced then jump started off the ramp with the hope that it being ran would charge up the rest. He even gave me the print outs from his diagnostic tools to take to Vauxhall to show the battery and alternator were in a good state and that they had put us in that situation.
Very happy and gives me confidence to renew my membership when it comes time to doing so.

Whilst on a short break in Matlock we suffered a puncture due to a pot hole in Matlock. We had no spare so called Green Flag for help. We was given a 90 minute response time estimate by green flag, this became 2 hours, which became 3 hours and after just over 4 hour the local garage (Richford Motoring) finally arrived. With a total of 6 text message, 3 phone calls and a whole world of excuses as to why they were late. The recovery driver was nice and recovered me to a local tyre garage without any issue. Next time I renew breakdown cover it will be back with RAC. I have only called green flag once since I joined them, after they wasted a whole afternoon of my Holiday, never again!

I think you forgot me. It took over 3 hours for Richford Motor Services to arrive, after first being told 60 minutes by Green Flag. I think you both need to review your estimate times when people call you for help. Your incompetence severely disrupted my day.
