Very nice desert resort. It was bigger than expected with plenty of bars and restaurants. Clean pools. Cons were some restaurants don't open early enough and close too early. But the pool is open late. Nice staff.

WATCH YOUR INVOICE CHARGES!

WATCH YOUR INVOICE CHARGES!

I am disappointed that I have to leave a 2 star review on a hotel that provides themselves on being a 5 star resort but my experience was not 5 star and when you pay 5 star resort prices for your getaway you hope to receive that type of experience.

After months of homeschooling and being on stay at home orders we were nothing more than excited to get away for a little bit even if it was just down the street from where we live so after much research we decided to book 2 rooms for 2 nights at this resort.

Excited about getting away and the even more excited about the relaxing experience with this resort was something we were all looking forward to even though there were some modifications to the amenities and the experience due to COVID-19 which we understood but we didn't understand the overwhelming experience and customer service that we received during out stay.

For starters I booked a cabana at the splash/slide pool about 10 days in advance to ensure that they would have one reserved for us.

We arrived at the resort and was never greeted or anything as we entered the lobby to check in. During check in the employee handed me a map to show us where our rooms were located but never explained or provided any additional information on how we can utilize the available amenities on the property so we simply didn't use any of them on the property.

Our rooms were nice but there's nothing in the rooms other than mini bar items and no way to purchase food or beverages after 4pm at the pool bar.

No clear way of contacting the front desk or reservation services to ask a question.

Housekeeping never came to our rooms during our stay.

On the first day we went to the Sunset Beach Pool about 7:45pm and stayed until closing with no food or beverage service options and a no outside drink/food policy.

On the second day we went to the splash/slide pool for our cabana we had reserved to find out that they didn't have a reservation for us but the staff was able to make it happen so that we could have a cabana like we expected.

Of course since the cabana wasn't on the reservation list the cabana wasn't ready for guest.
No Towels.
No Fruit Tray. The server did order one from the kitchen which took the kitchen about 2.5 hrs to get it over to us so that was a total waste of money.
No Remote.
Nothing ready but I will say that the bar and server of our cabana was amazing and so attentive that we were impressed especially since they displayed the experience we paid for and expected.

About 2.5 - 3 hrs into our visit at this pool it became sooooo overran with people that we decided to cut our cabana time short and head back to our room.

We had children with us that were overly bored and we had nothing else to entertain them with and no way to use their devices to distract them for a little bit while we tried to figure it out because we had no way of figuring out how to access the in room wifi.

That's when we decided to check out early at about 5:15pm rather than staying the last night we paid for at the resort.

It wasn't 2 mins after we checked out that I received an email with our invoice which showed a $33.00 charge to one of our rooms from the Sunset Beach Pool.

I emailed the resort to ask what this charge was for since the charge was placed on the room our children were staying in and about 24hrs later they emailed me back saying for drinks we had on the first night at the pool.

Without any additional details the no name agent completely dismissed any further communication by saying... "Thanks for staying. Have a good evening" in the email.

These charges are not mine and the $33 is not a big deal if we were the ones to have drank them but we didn't bc there was no way to access drinks at that pool and we were all dying of thirst when we returned to the room so I will not pay for someone elses drinks.

I am still in the process of trying to get these charges removed but waiting on a call.

We do "staycations" every summer so it afforda us the opportunity to see the hotels here in Az. My wife was very excited about coming. We arrived on a Tuesday afternoon Driving onto the property was a bit confusing. We drove up to a security shack where a person was standing waving. He looked like a manican just kinda weird. My fault for not asking where we check in. I assumed I would see. I don't recall seeing any welcome signs directing us to the lobby. We actually turned in to the golf course. After turning around, we drove back to the entrance and asked the manican and he directed us. There was option to park far from the complex on your own for $11. The valet was $24. We had no choice but to valet because of our 2 year old. The lobby was really high class, not my preference, but whatever. The desk help was very nice. He gave us a map of the complex. We needed a golf cart to take us to the building. Again, no access to parking lot other than the front of the hotel. He was nice and we had to tip him as well.
Our room was on the third floor. Only one elevator for the building and our room was completely on the opposite side of the building a very long walk. The hallway air conditioning was freezing. Too cold. We got to the room which was very large. No refrigerator, no microwave, no free coffee or water. Room service good. Prices very high. We will not be returning. As wife said, it is not "guest friendly".

Pros - Staff were amazing. The food at our conference was amazing. Conference facilities were good. Evening at Copper Canyon was great. I enjoyed the princess pool.

Cons - The 18+ pool was so dirty I didn't stay in it. Weird white styrofoam balls floating in it. (The princess pool was lovely though) Rooms are a bit dated. Bed uncomfortable. (Loved the pillows though). Wished there were more casual places to dine in the evening. Poolside service ended at 5pm. Lastly, I couldn't believe the waste happening from an environmental sustainability standpoint. Every time I left my room with all lights off I would come back to every single light turned back on by the housekeeping staff. The food for our conference often had an unbelievable amount of waste associated. Breakfast was individually wrapped sandwiches, individually wrapped breakfast bars, individual bottles of hot sauce and ketchup, plastic cutlery - all with a plastic container to put it all in that was then all promptly thrown away. 5 star shouldn't have to mean you're killing the planet. You can do better Fairmont.

Overall this is a nice place but there are some areas that needs to be addressed and visitors should know about. First and foremost I was quite stunned that my $129/night for 5 nights reservation required a $1340 hold on my credit card upon check-in! I assume it is to place a hold for possible daily room charges. Everything is expensive. I normally run to the store and stock my room with soda/beer. That isn t possible because the in-room mini fridge was fully stocked with overpriced beverages. $4 for a can of Diet Coke for example. The first night I went to the pool bar and had 3 domestic beers and a Burrito for $42. The next morning I had breakfast at one of the onsite restaurants, Ironwood American Kitchen. Service was very slow. I had to wait 40 mins for my grits. There were also numerous birds flying around inside the restaurant. I commented on them and was told they knew how to get in and thought it was cute. No. If you have any healthcare/medical knowledge you would know that bird s secretions and droppings can cause some serious diseases. Some life threatening. I was not impressed and did not return for the remainder of my trip.

I m not sure how this is rated a 5-Diamond resort to be completely honest. The bed was uncomfortable, many things were worn and outdated. Brown Astroturf is used as rugs to the entrance of the buildings. Some were folded up blocking the closing of the automatic doors so the hall stayed hot. It was corrected within a day. A cookie laid in the hallway for the first 4 days of my stay without being cleaned. The elevators smelled. Smoking is permitted basically anywhere except 4 feet from the pool. Seriously. So if you re trying to enjoy a beverage on your balcony and hangout with your kids at the pool, please be aware you could be surrounded by smoke the entire time.

I was here for a work conference. The Ballroom and meeting rooms were very nice and all of the food provided during our conference was excellent. Like I mentioned, over all it s nice but definitely not somewhere I would stay again.

We loved the hotel and were pleasantly surprised at how much. We had research a ton of hotels and chose this because of the Fairmont gold lounge package. The Fairmont Gold lounge was great, wonderful selections, especially breakfast! Our room was great - huge bathroom for 3 women to get ready. Loved all the fire pit areas around the hotel. Only small negative was the spa. We went on a Saturday and it was way too crowded. There were 22 people in small "relaxation" room waiting for services at 10. That's ridiculous. I'm not even sure the 4 people lounging in the 4 recliners could be relaxed when it's so overcrowded. Not exactly relaxing with standing room only. And it's annoying to be presented the bill to pay with 20% gratuity already added when you check in - and be told you can come back within an hour and reduce it if you want - that's silly considering people might have multiple services or want to enjoy the facilities. If you want a 20% tip then included it in the price of the services and be done. It already puts a negative damper on the experience to think I've just paid $200 for a 50 minute massage so I sure hope its good. Not the right mind set. In the end it was an excellent massage. They are clearly set up to anticipate high volume given the # of lockers so there is not enough seating in hot tub/steam room area, let alone the spa pool. I guess you'd have to get up there at 6am to get a seat. But the spa lunch was great and a nice treat.

I always have a great stay at the Fairmont Scottsdale princess. The consistency of Fairmont hotels make it a first choice when visiting. Great pools, good restaurants, and the winter themed activities around Christmas are amazing.

The Resort is amazing however the valet services are not to be trusted. They are parking cars without insurance as I was informed by Chris Cantrel after they forced my key to come out in the ACC position and busted it completely. They paid for the new ignition but refused to pay for the Tow, Installation or Programming of the new keys. Not to mention when they drained my battery to Zero that it will not hold a charge any longer and I also have to buy a new battery. So in short, it may COST you much more than expected to use their Valet Services. They cost me $490.00!

What a great place to get away for the weekend with the family! The is our third summer in a row visiting and the kids are already looking forward to next year. The pool area is perfect for kids. The slides, the fun crew, the foam parties etc. We also dined at both La Hacienda and Bourbon Steak. I would highly recommend both, but you can t go wrong with either if you only have time for one.
Finally, we stayed in the Gold rooms and we can t recommend this section enough. Tom and the rest of the team over there are just terrific. They really pride themselves on being on top of things. Every summer there is a theme and this year, it s super heroes. Even the housekeepers got into it by dressing up our kid s stuffed animals! Thanks for the fun!

TERRIFYING Business Trip by Female Professional. I...

TERRIFYING Business Trip by Female Professional. I stayed at the Fairmont Princess for 2 nights for a business conference.
I am a 47-year-old female executive who travels to 4- and 5-star hotels for corporate business about 1-2 times per month. I am a wife and mother of two young children.
On the final evening of the conference, there was an early evening reception that I attended for an hour. Afterwards 12 of us went to the hotel restaurant, Bourbon Steak. Our server, Stephanie, was very nice but was overwhelmed because the restaurant was understaffed (I observed this throughout the hotel, at lunch and dinner the day before, at check-in, etc.). We waited a frustratingly long time for every little order. Our tab was well-over $2,000 and we still left above a 20% tip.

We attended an after-dinner reception at the hotel. We ordered a nice bottle of red wine at the bar since we were having nice wine at dinner and didn t want to downgrade the wine. While waiting, a glass fell off the bar a little ways from where I was standing. I actually didn t pay much mine to it as I had run into a colleague and was engrossed in conversation . I felt liquid and a something harder hit my foot as I was wearing an open shoe. Someone from the hotel came over to clean up the spilled drink and glass. I stood in place, near the broken glass I suppose, since I thought I had something in my shoe and it was too dark to see how close the glass broke to my foot. Someone directed me to move out of the way so the mess could be cleaned up. I moved, it was cleaned up, and I didn t have glass in my shoe. All good.

Then a man told me that he worked at the hotel and that I was no longer going to be served by the bar. I was befuddled. He said I was doe eyed when I was asked to move out of the way for the clean-up of the spilled drink and broken glass. I asked him if he might have me confused with someone else. Nope, not the case.

I walked to another bar, admittedly on the hotel premises and ordered a glass of wine. I was not served and the same hotel employee said I was cut off from being served at all bars in the hotel and that I now needed to go to my room. I asked for the person s name: Errol Turner. He said that taking his name would not do a damn thing for me and I had to leave immediately or else I would be escorted back to my room by security. I felt very threatened, terrified in fact. I felt wrongly accused and that I had no rights of my own. Threatened and angry, I called him a few choice names. I told him that he was acting as if I was a criminal, or worse, some kind of terrorist making a bomb threat. He said to me that I was now making bomb threats against the hotel. I said that was ridiculous and that those where his words not mine but he was the low-life type who would surely try using it against me how right I was.

I left the bar area after that. 15 minutes later, there was a knock at my door. Two armed police officers and hotel security were there and demanded that I LEAVE THE HOTEL because I had made a bomb threat against the hotel. Not only did he twist my words, he escalated the situation so that I would be removed from the hotel by the police! I cried, begged and pleaded with the police and hotel security not to have me leave and that I was leaving in the AM. Before I was escorted from my room, I asked what if I refused to leave. An officer said that I would be arrested for trespassing. Completely terrified, I left. A sedan was waiting for me arranged by the hotel. In the back seat was my hotel receipt with my dinner, along with 2 night s charge with room tax/ fees. I was dropped off at a Marriott and was charged another night for the room. Two nights in Scottsdale, 3 nights charged. I was sobbing, terrified, confused. I cried myself to sleep.
It s not the money; it s how I was treated. I am terrified to travel on business bc of this experience. No recourse, no rights, just men with guns, forcing my actions. The hotel emailed to ask me to rate my experience today so I decided to share.

We have an annual tradition of staying at the Fairmont during the Christmas season. We absolutely love our time there. We have a 12 and 10 year old who love the ice skating, train rides, Ferris wheel, open pit s'mores, and many other activities. The rooms are very nice and the staff is incredible. I would definitely recommend the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess.

Went for the Christmas at the Princess event. The quality of the event blew me and my family away. Priced by the car, so it was more affordable than some of the other Christmas type events around the valley. Best part was just about everything was included instead of the typical nickel and dime. Kids could go on the ferries wheel, carosel, ice slide as much as they wanted. They sold smores kits and plenty of fire pits to cook them and stay warm. In addition to this, the event is at the gorgeous Princess Resort.

Well, it seems that every time my family and I visit this resort, we have issues. I called down to inquire about reserving a day to visit for the Princess Christmas City. We will be visiting the area for my sons birthday. We would stay at the Princess, but the indoor water park at Great Wolf is more fun in the cooler months. I talked to a pleasant employee about purchasing wristbands for the Christmas event. During our conversation, I told the employee that we would be making reservations at La Hacienda, one of the restaurants on property for my sons birthday dinner. My main reason for this call was to pay for the wristbands to enter the festivities, at no point did the employee inform me that if we have a reservation, we can purchase the valet parking and wristbands at a discount. My wife found this additional information on the website. So I called to ask if they would help with cancelling the purchase for the wristbands and place it on the restaurant reservation. Now, this would not have saved me much, but for a returning guest that has spent a dozen nights and a few bucks at the resort, you would think I would be greeted with something better than "all sales are final" answer. If the establishment would present this info in a user friendly manner on their website, they might have fewer issues. It took a phone call and a 10 minute conversation just to complete my purchase, and I have a degree in Network Engineering. I hope that one day I can have a great experience with this resort! Until then, I hope that my son enjoys his birthday at the Princess.

Absolutely wonderful. I received a complimentary upgrade when I arrived too early for check in; the staff was attentive, accommodating, and genuinely engaging; every detail was impeccably addressed; and everything we ate and drank was perfect. Last but not least, the facilities were beautiful and well-maintained.

Had my birthday at the Princess in August and it was incredible! This is the best Arizona resort I have ever stayed at, and the restaurants are something else. I have been to La Hacienda many times, and had my birthday dinner there (because it's the best). I have tried most of the menu and can't really decide which dish is my favorite because anything you order on the menu is delicious. Toro was awesome. I loved their salmon dish and la bomba desert was a flavor explosion (great for sharing). Every staff member we encountered were friendly and fun, even with some of my obnoxious friends. The rooms were beautiful and spacious. My jaw dropped when I saw the bathroom, since it was literally the size of a normal hotel room. Did some shopping at the resort and there is TONS of cool things. I bought a tequila shirt at Maverick, swimsuit at Reflections, and there is a starbucks with the most bomb cookies ever. The princess is something else, and is hands down the best resort in Arizona.

Well & Being spa at the Princess is the most premiere spa I have visited in the North Phoenix/Scottsdale area. Many amenities to refresh your mind, body and soul. Everything is exceptional. Locals can have all day access to all the amenities including fitness classes when purchasing one of their many services. I take a friend and enjoy!!
