Beautiful chateau n the serene garden showcase the opulence of French architecture
One of the most beautiful places in the whole of Europe! Highly recommend this popular attraction. Although quite busy, there is plenty of open space in the gardens which are atleast 2.5km long, beautiful and very well maintained. You get a real sense of peace and awe here. Highly recommend a visit to Versailles as the palace and gardens beats every sights in Paris.
Very beautiful Chateau with wide landscape of neat french garden. Exceptional fountain created of all time and I like its musical fountain show. Everything was perfect except that entrance fee is a little expensive.
Wonderful place to visit, despite the long queues. Staff extremely helpful. We were just sorry we didn't have two day passes!
Amazing palace with marvelous Garden dont forget your camera wnever u want to go.
You can reserve your ticket from the tourists help office just 150m before the palace entrance they will hep you to know about the price and supply you with all the requires info.
Well worth the trek out of Paris. We just took an Uber -- which pick you up and drops you off right in front of the chateau. We also got the breakfast deal at the ore-ducasse so we got a nice quality breakfast and a skip the line pass. May not be worth it for some, but was worth it for me.
Very nice garden and house but long waiting and high prices.
Huge gardens! Basically impossible to visit in one day!
Incredible place. House and Gardens are like no other on earth. Is a must visit in my opinion
This palace is just magnificent and incomparable in it's opulence . It's a must see when in Paris. Surrounding parks are also superb. It gets very crowded though so perhaps a better management of the amount of people inside could create a better quality experience
Beautiful, iconic French palace in a really nice setting. That day was really windy so we couldn't see the gardens, but the palace is just so pretty that it didn't matter. Definitely come here if you're visiting Paris! The access was really easy from Montparnasse train station.
Also the entrance is free for young people living in the European Union.
Well worth the visit. We went on a Sunday in October and it was extremely crowded so difficult to enjoy as much. Hard to see and circulate from room to room. Queue system for groups that pre book worked very well.
What an incredible place and a terrific tour. Make sure you book a tour well in advance because getting a ticket on the day or even a few days in advance is difficult or impossible and the line literally stretches for a mile.
Amazing! Beautiful architecture and so much to see. Audio tour guide provided free of charge to provide a real understanding of the this historic landmark. The gardens are stunning and never ending. Plan a picnic and dedicate a day to this attraction. C'est manifique!!!
Worth every penny from your wallet. Versailles shows you French rulers are very narcissist. It's sad to say but from aspect of friendliness French people are close to Germanic people.
Very beautiful palace, easy parking.
Gardens are a delight too.
It's a must see but you can only appreciate it fully when it's less crowded off season. Arrive in the morning and see the palace first. Go for lunch at a restaurant around and reenter to see the gardens the rest of the afternoon. Bring comfortable walking shoes as you walk 10km easily.
The palace has a huge amount of historical significance. It also has a large garden which is very well maintained.
Buy tickets online before you go. We chose to use a tour company for the interior and then explored the gardens ourselves. Map out what you want to see and prioritise! We couldn t get around it all. The gardens are large and beautiful.
Well worth a visiting better to book before you go save queueing for ages
More than the Palace I enjoyed the pretty gardens. But is really splendid and pompous, almost a waste. As history is worth to learn
The gardens were excellent but there was a 20 minute queue for the ladies toilets at the restaurant in the copse. I had a Croque Monsieur which was fine.
Information for tourists could be improved. Recommended audio guide app for Android is unusable.
If you love art , history & culture you can't be in Paris and not visit
We arrived at 10:30 and there were still places in the big carpark next to the entrance. We had bought our tickets online, so we did not have to queue for that, but the line waiting for the palace was absurdly long, so we went straight to the gardens and to the Petit Trianon (which was the bit I most wanted to see). We worked our way back to the palace via the gardens and by the time we reached the palace it was half an hour before closing time with zero queue. There was plenty of time to see the main areas of the palace and it was possible to see things better as there was hardly anyone in. If we were to go again we would just get a garden ticket and not bother with the main palace, no need to see the palace twice.
A huge palace which needs a lot of walking. Beautiful and it is worth to visit. Beautiful and wealthy interiors as well as huge gardens. It was a day for musical fountains and the ticket was more expensive but we were expecting something more spectacular than classical music and the simple flow of the fountains. Even if you are already tired don't miss the stroll at the gardens and the lakes as well as the Gran Trianon and Peti Trianon. Our visit was first days of April so the gardens were not full of green and blossoms.
A day in Versailles, is going to leave you wanting to see and do more. Need to spend couple of days to take in Versailles like Louis meant it to be experienced - without the luxary, of course.
Recommend doing the gardens in the morning, when it is cool and calm. Use the car (4wheel) rental to see the garden quickly, you will not be able to walk the whole thing unless you are a seasoned hiker.
Visit the palace in the afternoon, when it is scorching outside.
Unless you are visiting in Winter, in which case you should do the Palace fist and then the garden
However I've never visited this place. But I've read about it in my books of history in the lesson of THE FRENCH REVOLUTION. By seeing its pics, everybody would say it's perfect. Well built
Beautiful place
The extravagant palace of Versailles
Also, Versailles reminds me of the TREATY OF VERSAILLES, for I am a student
Definitely a must see. The architecture is amazingly beautiful. The only con is that lines are VERY long so I suggest to get there early because lines can stretch to take up the entire front area of the museum.
One of the most wonderful places to have seen when in Paris. Make sure to go early to avoid waiting at the entrance. You can skip the line at the tickets counter by using the machines (creditcards only), they're in the same building next to the toilets. Both the palace and gardens are amazing!
Wonderful experience! The most beautiful castle that I ever see
A lot of walking I did not mind. Everywhere you look there is something awesome to look at. Many sculptures and areas were closed for renovation and even that way I loved it!!!! Awesome birthday gift!!!!
Wow!! A must do while in Paris. This is a Palace! Expect it to be more beautifully breathtaking than anything in the Loire valley.
One of my favorite museums. Nothing to complain. Just too crowded
Was not planning on going to Versailles while visiting, but one person in our group really wanted to go! I enjoyed the palace, but a little to crowded! The walk from the palace to Marie Antoinette's was unbelievable, all the gardens, fountains and history! Spent 8 hours there and did not see everything!
Long line to get in. No flow through the rooms. Difficult at times to see while listening to the audio tour.
Amasing gardens, I couldn't see the interior yet because the queue was 3 hours long
The garden is perfect. Please spend your time with a garden, not a palace as time is valuable.
Nice palace, long queue during peak season.
Authority should display "automatic ticket machine" availability at the entrance of the palace which will help to get tickets very fast.
King Louis' palace is a must visit. You will be in awe at all the gold and marble, the many rooms corridors. However, the real gem is in the gardens. Plan a full day for sights you have to see to believe.
Great place, though can get busy.golf cart hire great way to see grounds with young kids
Beautiful place, free on the first sundays of each month until march.
Palace is simply great and the gardens marvolous. Problem was the extremely big entrance que. We waited for 2h until we were in and we did not get to see the Trianon at all. Possibly because it was Sunday, there were more tourists. Another negative was that around 5pm the fountains were no longer running even though we were able to stay until 8pm on the premisses. You actually pay an extra in the weekend for the running fountains, which were turned off before closing time...
Overall it was nice but things can be improved.
Great historic site. Too bad it's closed on Monday.
Fantastic experience! I spent 6 hours touring the palace and the grounds and felt rushed. If you can, dedicate an entire day.
It's one of the most famous palaces of the world, so if you want to see how the king, queen and princesses lived before the French revolution, go right in. The war hall has a lot of interesting paintings and history depicting the past glories of the French nation.
This Palace is nothing special and is a waste of time, long lines are brutally exhausting and has very slow progress. You must go early in the morning to avoid long lines
Great place full of French history. Recommended to visit!!
Very big!!! Have to prepare one full day for visit.
Beautiful grounds! Words cannot describe how big this place is
Go on a Saturday to see the Beautiful Fountains at 11am.
The Chateau was great, but because there was a holiday (Aug.15), our purchased all-inclusive online tickets were not valid for the gardens, etc. Such a rip-off...they should tell you about this and make that a non-option when buying tickets!
Amazing and breathtaking palace! The gardens are splendid, full with surprises - statues, fountains, music
I am very pleased with the visit to this palace: with spacious rooms, large and wide corridors, the room of the Mirrors in particular very very lighted, with chandeliers where it has more ... In other words a location that you should not miss. Preferably purchase tickets online.
If you have never visited, understand that the gardens are massive. You can rent a golf cart to drive around to tour the gardens. The palace is an amazing look back to Louis XIV and Napoleon. Well worth the trip to the country to see the estate.
Huge palace here with tons of beautifully curated rooms full of classical paintings and sculptures. There are really some stunning things to see here. A regular adult ticket is 18 and young children are free.
Be warned that to visit the palace you will have to wait for hours in a queue of THOUSANDS, so I personally gave up and visited gardens instead. Gardens themselves as probably the most beautiful in the world, adorned with tasteful baroque statues whose subjects are mostly related to ancient Greek mythology. Still, I was left with the impression of too high opulence, as if someone wanted to show how rich and culturally knowledgeable he is...
I had a very unpleasant experience at the palace. It was too crowded and there was so much dust. It felt like it hasn t been cleaned since the reign of Louis XIII. Restrooms where in horrible condition. I did enjoy the gardens.
Aack!! The Lines!!!
We arrived 20 minutes after the 9am opening and the lines were hundreds of people long. This was for ticket holders, not buyers. The beginning of the line was impossible to find, and very unorganized. The few signs were vague, and there was nobody to answer questions like at the Louvre, which was just as crowded but better staffed. We went instead to the gardens, which required a separate 8 euro ticket. They were spectacular, and we didn't mind missing the chateau.
If you do join the queue, bring sunscreen, a hat and and umbrella. The courtyard is immense and the sun is merciless!
Bon Chance! Whatever you see of this spectacular palace, you will be amazed!
Great place to visit!! Nice gardens clean and tidy. The place is full of history and makes you think about the kings of france.
Good place to see painting & statue with excellent garden
No words for this palace.. This palace is too too huge.. The way its constructed, really hats off to the architect. One of the best thing is garden.. Must must visit this place if you visit to Paris.
Very beautiful garden. We went there on Monday and palace was closed, but we had a lot of joy around the garden.
To see ! The greatest and most magnificent castle in the world !
Amazingly decorated rooms. The palace is a must to see! Now with coronavirus there are less tourists, the palace is not so crowded.
The gardens were not that interesting. It was a "musical show" day in the gardens. Only three fountains of all were working, and that for a ticket of 10 euros!!!
Information about open hours and open parts concerning the Covid situation
Don't waste your time or money. We waited 2.5 hours in the blazing sun, only to get to the front and have people sliding into line because nobody manages anything, including the line. There is not a chair or a bench to be seen anywhere. The small palace is crammed full of zombies listening to the audio guides and people obsessively using their selfie sticks. You need separate tickets for everything. Why not just one flat rate to avoid all the lines?
Signage is very poor. Fountains are only used turned on weekends. Food is hard to come by and there's nowhere to eat it. Despite the beauty, we would not recommend coming here.
This place is making 2-3 million euro each day, you'd think they could put some air conditioning on, refill the soap and paper towels each day and keep the important exhibits open. Don't waste your time in the palace, just skip to the gardens. If you come on a fountain day and are required to pay the mandatory extra 7 euro for those, make sure you plan your visit around the times the fountains are on.
If you take the train from the city, make sure you purchase the correct ticket for Versailles and don't try to sneak on with your Paris metro ticket - there is a decent trap with the police enforcement right before the Versailles station designed to catch tourists screwing up their train ticket to the tune of 35 euro a piece.
I don't think I'd ever go again, but if I was dragged there by friends I'd stick to the free gardens, rent a bike for the day, pack a lunch, and just roam around until they finished the miserable tour inside.
Absolutely fantastic experience!!! I was there at about 10:30 am in the morning and I queue for about 1.5 hours to get into the main palace. However, there is no regrets on getting in the palace as everything was so great!!
Significantly overrated and a waste of time, specially if you are travelling with children and/or don't have much time.
Our experience as a family was abysmal. You can't go into the Palace with a stroller, no matter how small it is. We had to carry our 9 month old, and when I let her walk while holding my hands a security guard called me and told me in French something I couldn't really understand but I guess it was her bare feet would damage the floor so I had to carry her (what even?!). Totally unreasonable.
The gardens are a joke, unless you are after bush and semi-perfectly shaped trees. Barely any flowers, and many of the gardens were closed with no explanation. Fountains weren't on. A lot of walking through dirt and pebbles for a joke of a garden. Ridiculous.
Not to mention that it's an extremely overrated tourist attraction, so if you still decide to go to this place be prepared for lines, crowded rooms, and the occasional immature teenagers laughing at nude statues.
Yes, there are nice rooms with cute objects and pretty paintings, but if you are after beautiful art just spend extra time at the Louvre, and finish it off with a nice meal in Paris with the money you save.
Don't come here just to tick something off a list. Not worth it.
Amazing place and well worth the wait. There is so much to see, so make sure to allow at least a half day to see everything. The gardens are beautiful and I would suggest starting there to better understand everything once you go inside.
Great touristic place to be visited, the most visited section is "Galerie des Glaces" AKA "Hall of Mirrors" the gardens is a must see section.
Although beautiful, it is incredibly busy inside, and took over an hour to get in. The queuing system for the tickets (which itself was 30 mins) isnt very good. The gardens are stunning and expansive, one could easily spend an entire day in just the gardens if the weather is nice. Part of the facade was being renovated, which took away from the beauty of the Palace.
If you are looking for historical accuracy, this is not for you. The crowd is too big for the roons and you never achieve that level of immersion like a museum. Most of the original furniture was lost during the French Revolution, also.
But it's worth because of the gardens and the Galerie of Battles (thanks Napoleon).
Nice one. This palace is well known for treaty of Versailles on June 28th 1919. On this day, WW 1 officially suspended.
Stunning. The queue for the place in the morning was 1.5-2 hours long, but in the afternoon it was about 20 mins, so I would suggest to see the gardens first then the palace.
I almost gave it a 3, but the negative is only because the place was ridiculously busy. Almost a 3 hour wait for the security line, even with advance ticket purchase. Then inside many locations felt like you were cattle being shoved through the chute. It made it very difficult to enjoy the true beauty of this place. The gardens and Petite Trianon. You could easily spend a day in the garden. My advice is to find a way to gain quicker entry, even if it costs more.
Cool palace and spectacular gardens!!! Highly recommend seeing this if you're in Versailles!
Well worth a visit. Absolutely fantastic place. Give yourself plenty of time for a good visit. In the palace is wheelchair friendly, but the cobbles walking to it are a bit hard going.
The former palace of Royalty of France, this stunning place is massive to say the least.
When you walk up to the shimmering gold gates, you know right away you are at a place of royalty.
Stone sculptures, fountains, exquisite gardens and the palace itself is incredible.
It gets very busy, but once you are inside the grounds, there is plenty of room to wander.
We toured the main palace, then walked the vast manicured gardens and pathways.
After, we took a detour to the maiden's quarters at the back of the grounds. Many photo spots!
Overall this palace is mesmerising at every turn.
