It's one thing to see the gardens in the map, but walking in it is something else. It is like a maze to explore with hidden features to uncover.
The museum's self guided tour is well done and you get a lot of background history as you walk the interior.
It is very beautiful! Definitely must go, you could probably spend an entire separate day in the gardens. However, they do not have much recycling which is disappointing and their bathrooms are in horrible conditions.
Fantastic. Worth the trip. Would highly recommend a tour guide and at least 3 hours of time for this experience.
Beautifully built to look majestic.
The route to interior movement well planned. Garden's beauty is unimaginable.
Sculptures, Painting were outstanding. Audio guide was a great help but room numbers could have been better displayed But overall a great place..
The majestic building and amazing garden re really attracting, but there are always many tourists here.
The palace is ok and very beautiful. U should visit once in life. One star is for organisation. Its not really clear info about tickets, the line is so huge.
Highly recommended !!!!!!!!!!
Make sure you are there at 8.30 am even if you booked your ticket online ! So much to see , having a guide is great too because you have much more information regarding the place !!!
A bit misleading with the lines, it doesn't stand anywhere on the website that you have buy the ticket beforehand, either online or at the information, before you go into the line. Luckily I had to go and ask if students get a free admission or discount, but since I was 29 it was a no go, which I think is a bit discriminating. A student is a student regardless of age, in the rest of the museums if you are an EU citizen and a student you get free admission or discount. I think it is defiantly somethung that they should reconsider. But on the bright side, because both of my brothers had autisme, they let us in at the entrance immediately, which is something I do recommend doing, you just have to be able to prove it. But you have to walk up to the information people at the entrance and tell them, before they will let you in. And this is the reason for 4 stars instead of 3.
Beautiful gardens!! Come with comftorble shoes for walking, Marrie Antuanet palace espacialy.
Palace itself wasn't cost affective at all, in my opinion. Nice chambers but got boring in less than an hour
It s super cool... but you wait in line for about 2 hours and pay 20pp to spend maybe 45 minutes inside. The hall of mirrors is cool for historical purposes, though. Go to the gardens!
Outstanding and thoroughly enjoyed it well recommended especially the buggy trip around the gardens at a small cost.
It's not that beautiful in the autumn. The fountains has dirty water..
If you visit Paris and can afford a day-trip to Versailles, it is well worth the trip. Great historical site and my family was quite impressed by how regal and excessive all the decor was at the palace. The gardens were dull given the time of year that we visited, but in the spring and summer I'm sure the gardens are very pleasant.
When you first arrive to the Palace of Versailles, you will quickly realize that all the hype was real. This place is truly amazing and is one of my favorite palaces that I have ever gotten the chance to visit. Your feet will hurt after walking the extensive gardens.
It is cool to check the palace and try to imagine how people where living there. But the gardens. The gardens are the real attraction in Versailles.
Its the most beautiful palace i have ever seen. We would need an entire day to see it. Its advisable to have audio guide if there is no local guide. Audio guide is not available for Grand Trionon and petit trionon.
Surreal! If you plan visit everything spend at least 2 full days to cover.
We spent a nice time. The only problem was that we asked to keep the baby pushchair at the reception and my DS was not so happy to walk
An excellent demonstration of the opulence of the French royalty, particularly Louis XIV--makes the rebellion seem no wonder. The audio guides offer a lot of minute information about the palace and palace life, but they can be rather dry at times. The gardens required a separate ticket.
Spectacular etc., but poorly organised. A few clear signs, esp. at the entrance would make it better, esp. explaining where you access what and which queue is which. Learn from EuroDisney!
Even having bought tickets online the queue was still several hours long in the hot sun. Skip the insides and go for a nice walk round the massive gardens for free instead!
The line to get in is 3+ hours!!! The administration gets an F! They pack people so tight inside, huge fire hazard! However, the place is beautiful. Given the challenges, I would never go again!
Absolutely beautiful I can't believe how well the furniture has been preserved. It's a lot of walking di I would wear extremely comfortable shoes
A beautiful palace. Wonderful fountains and background music. Yes a little pricy on the extras but the gardens are wonderful!
Spend 18 the ticket just for the palace and 10,5 for the gardens, I recomiend just the gardens. The ticket sell split!
Worth the train ride out of Paris. The palace and the gardens are incredible. There was a slight lack of upkeep due to COVID and none of the fountains are currently on but an absolutely amazing site and a must see. Plan to spend a few hours here
Amazing place - please reserve a few hours to visit its great garden too.
Beautiful palace and garden. We arrived at 11.00 and were in the cue for 3hr just to get inside the palace. So make sure you come earlier!
We went between Christmas and New year. The exhibition was great and amazing. What was really disappointing is the way the crowd was handled. The line just wraps around 9-10 times, they only have one point of entry. Inside there is no control for large groups of tourist. I honestly think the Vatican handles crowd better than this
Huge elaborate palace.... don't forget the mirror room...and the beautiful gardens and of course the fountains.....no comparison
Breathtaking!! you need at least 10 hours here to do it properly and see everything. Every room has history behind it with lots of stories. Its a must see if you visit Paris.
They are renovating it, but as a whole, it is wonderful. It was a bit painful to get there, because the TER N didn't circulate so we had to take a 1,5 hour train ride. I'm sure there's other option to get there too.
Beautifully restored Palace with a gripping history that fascinates at every revelation. As ornate a building as I've ever witnessed, with architectural features seldom seen anywhere else.
Beautiful a whole day needed to explore the Palace and another for the gardens.
Busy but worth it. Just go pay for VIP access if it's summer or your feet won't handle standing in line for hours before you walk for hours
The most beautiful palace in the world in my opinion. Brought me to tears. Words can not explain. I must see when in Paris.
Worthy of a visit, though you may need to stand in line.
Felt like cattle being herded into a truck. So opulent, to the point of tacky, no wonder France declared itself bankrupt and Louis XVI got executed. Hate to think how everyone would get out in an emergency. Note to all who take selfies - you being in the picture doesn't improve it.
So bad! There's no enough water so many fountains don't work !!! Why do you ask money for that!!!?
The palace, of course, is as expected and fantastic. My grief was with the 2 hour long wait, standing in line to get in, even though we purchased our tickets in advance online. The reason for the delay, we discovered, once we arrived at the front door was the fact that there was only one security scanner for the thousands of people trying to enter. Hours later when we left there were still hundreds of people in the same long line. And to top it off this "security lobby" was a new edition to the palace in 2016. It might have accommodated visitors in 1916, but not today.
I recommend buying skip the line ticket , sure the palace of Versailles is nice but if you visit it in the summer at least you can enjoy the garden , the palace was so crowded can't really enjoy .
Absolutely must see! Quick trip outside of Paris and it is incredible! You will regret not going.
A true moment to the sheer opulence of the time, Versailles is a real beauty, and way over the top. The rooms are breathtaking but the real delight, for me at least, was the gardens. It would be easy to spend hours and hours wandering around the well maintained grounds. It's also a way to get a break from the vast majority of the crowds packed into the palace itself.
Absolutely spectacular. Go, ignore the crowds and admire the art and craftsmanship
There is a walking tour of the palace with an audio guide for many of the rooms. The gardens are open year round, but the fountains only run during high season. Plan on at least 3/4 of a day to see everything. The RER line C train will take you from Paris to Versailles in just under an hour.
Lots of great history. Great for a rainy day in Paris.
Wow again on my 3rd visit. Worth downloading the palace's own audio guide, less expensive than a guide. If the weather is bad consider buying the skip the queue ticket. We wrongly chose the 1.5 hour wait in the wet. Also go when the fountains are on. Sundays I believe.....oh and hire a tandem... Great fun!
Passport with timed entry is very highly recommended. Otherwise be prepared for long waiting hours.
Visit under the summer because it has musical fountains.
The palace is incredible, including the grounds. There's so much to see! There's a restaurant inside the palace as well as many close by options.
Went in July, way, way too crowded, crazy lines, and poorly managed. Nice House, nice gardens, nice fountains, when running, double check the days you are going to ensure seeing the fountains. Make sure to get the timed entry passports with garden access to save time. Head all the way to the Queen's Hamlet for the best time.
Gardens we're beautiful; way too many people on tour and place was not clean
This is the second time I visit the palace in 10 years. This time around it was very different. There's just too many people; you can barely walk without stumbling onto someone. I should have purchased the garden ticket only (which by the way is separate)
Another exciting way to explore the royal life of the times
Breath taking, the opulence of the palace will leave you aghast. I would definitely go back and probably do the full day tour.
Mindblowing luxury. We ogled at the beautiful, massive, intricately and ornately designed rooms. The displays at the palace depict the lives of Louis the XIII, XIV and XV. Each of these three French kings lived here and did some changes to the palace.
Great place to visit. Be prepared for one hour lineup to get in even in early May. Access to the garden was 9 euros.
My dream I have going to 's city he is not good person but have heard in history books..
Amazing place! You need more than a day to see everything! The opulence and drama in every room is almost too much to take in at times. So much gold and marble decoration everywhere. Then there's the gardens - you need hours going around these to appreciate it all. Musical fountains are a special treat if you get to see them. The main lake is glorious. I hear the additional properties on the boundary of the estate are beautiful too, but I didn't gave time to see them unfortunately.
What is there to say about Versailles that hasn't already been said? My family and I went on a great bike tour of the grounds and explored the palace itself. Great time.
The beauty of this palace is worth for me to travel to Versailles in the rainy day in the winter time. It's easy for me to go from the center of Paris, I just took train to go.
And then, I stayed in a long queue to buy ticket.
It takes about 3 hours for me to go inside and outside the palace. You will be given a radio tour guild to discover everything inside the palace such as pictures, books, medals, dynasties,...
However, it's the winter time, so there was no flowers :((
HUGE place, especially if you include the gardens and estate of trianon. The line in the summer is brutal to wait in, so if I went again, I would definitely buy a ticket that skips the line. However, I would probably not want to visit the Palace again. It is interesting, but not more than once. They do include an audio guide, which really helps. Otherwise, you can only look at fancy items for so long. This place is also a bit stingy with access. For example, the tickets to the Trianon, Gardens, and Versailles Palace are separate. Also, please note it is a 30-minute walk from Palace of Versailles to the Estate of Trianon. If you want to take a shuttle there, it is 7 per person. If you want to access the shuttle, you need to buy a pass to the gardens.
Its such a huge place with lot of gardens .. you would need a whole day to spend on this palace garden... its a treat to your eyes... try coming early in the morning so that you can cover up the whole palace and its garden all over...
Palace of Versailles is definitely one of the best ways to spend a day when visiting Paris or Versailles. It looks magnificent on the outside and definitely doesn't disappoint when in the Palace. There is so much to see from statues to paintings and different rooms.
Wonderful palace. I would recommend either going early or getting a tour to skip the line. If not you'll be waiting for hours to get in.
This place is so a must to visit with the amazing atmosphere...and ofc tasty food...There I had so much fun...
Very Beautiful, VERY long line to see palace. Get there early
Magnifique. We can spend the whole day! But it is Terribly crowded....
Buy tickets in the office across the metro station to save time at the castle as you will probably end up in queue just to get in, never mind buying a ticket there. Castle and gardens - you just need to see them, basically everything you could expect from place like this. Try to go on a sunny day so you can enjoy slow stroll through the gardens. Audioguide is really useful for the price.
Amazing paintings and magnificent gardens. Must visit in France.
Opulent and stunning! Situated on the outskirts of Paris
One of the best places in Europe which I have visited so far. Never thought this would be a bigger place than what I have imagined. We went very late and so we have missed to visit inside the palace. You need to go before 6 pm to visit the palace but still you can get around the garden until it gets dark. It has one of the most beautiful garden with lushly green trees and Ponds. Battery cars facility is available but you need to get there early for the same. You will definitely need at least 4 hours for this place. We went by car but the place has good connectivity with the metro.
Unbelievable grounds, nice staff bring a picnic to have on the grounds.
A Majestic place well visited. It was busy but the experience was unforgetable. Impressive and very grand.
Beautiful place and totally blown away by the scale of its garden! Reason why it is not given 5 star is because we paid additional for the entrance fees on tues for its musical fountain but none seem to be functioning when we went. Disappointed that we didn't get the additional value out of that. But definitely a must see for anyone visiting Paris!
Great place to come check out a stunning palace. Definitely one of a kind and must go to while in Paris.
I REALLY enjoyed my time at the palace it was one of the best experiences of my life with my uncle and I'm only 10 years old
Little bit boring, nice from the outside, boring from the inside. There's a few rooms to sea and everything else halls, long almost empty halls. It's better to stay longer in Museum du Louvre then come to Versailles. Parks are interesting but probably more beautiful during spring and summer. Now, in winter, yet another *wood near your hometown. If I did not visited Versailles, I would not be sad about it.
Not to be missed. Allow a full day, get there eirly and pre- purchase your tickets before you get there (very long queue if purchased there).
There is no doubt that this palace is a must see for everyone who visits the Paris. Its beautiful, majestic, huge, artistic.. But there are few things that bother you as a visitor..
1- in comparison with historical sites in Italy, the entrance fee is quite expensive ( 27) but this is not the end..
2-The distance from the the main palace to marie Antoinette is about 1.5km and you need to go by walk! Otherwise you need to pay for a train inside the palace ( 8). The marie palace is closed before 6,so there is not enough time to get there and visit the main palace too.
3- The musical fountain is 7 but its only 8min and there is no water dance.. Its very lame music with a few fountains and that's it! The schedule is not good too.
4- The cafe is extremely expensive.. Souvenir shop too..
5- the queue is very long and its not clear what you should do when entering the first yard. Buying the tickets in another place and standing in a very long queue (1 hour at least) in the yard for security check makes everyone tired.
I think the management really needs to do something to solve these problems.
Great place to visit.... but very crowded and be prepared for a LOT of walking...
Marie Antoinette's estate was absolutely incredible, not to say that the rest of it wasn't stunning, but are there pigs and goats and cows in the palace? I don't think so. 10/10 will love those animals for the rest of my life. Also, the inside of the palace is, like, breathtaking or whatever. Like, life altering beautiful I guess. Like, had to spend an absurd amount of time in each room and also all the hallways because it was so great, kind of amazing. Also? I just? Stared at the floor? For so long? Just, sitting in the hallway gaze locked on some old tile for a /while/. Will go back. Also, visited the gardens with the music playing and let me just say, if you are a Leo, this is a must. You will be In Your Element. I was thriving. Pretty sure I actually own the entire property now.
The size of the palace and its history makes it one of the most to do while in Paris.
Tips:
1. Best way to get there. If you are staying in Paris and you are more than three person, then Uber comes cheaper. If you are two or leas you can take public transport.
2. Buy ticket in advance, and if you can be on time, buy timed ticket. The line is short for timed ticket. The regular ticket without time is a very long line and it cost you the same.
3. To take tour of the garden, you can walk or take the little train. Golf cart is not good idea as you will be rushing to return it.
4. They have cafeteria inside the palace and around garden area.
5. If you have time, enjoy the area outside the palace, the village is cute.
Breath taking .. visit any time.of the year better in the spring though ... Amazing architecture, enjoy the scenery and get lost in the landscape
This place is huge, the size of a city huge. We gave ourselves a day to spend here and it wasn't quite enough. Waited in the hot sun for an hour, even with buying tickets in advance. I'd suggest bringing your own snack and water if you can, and try to book one of the bike tours or something since walking will take forever. Despite the inconveniences, the place was boujee and grandiose on a different level from anything else I've seen. Lastly, I think the Gran Trianon is more worth the time than the Petit.
