Extremely friendly staff! Brought in some old games to trade in, looking for some games for the family during these tough times. The guy in the back who helped the trade in was very professional and helpful. Will 100 percent be back

I've been buying, selling, and trading with eStarland since the days of the original Xbox and have never had any complaints. They have great trade in values, great customer service, quick shipping times, and competitive prices. They also have a ton of random, retro, and imported merchandise that's hard to find elsewhere. Although I live in Southeastern Virginia and have never been to the actual brick-and-mortar store itself, I'm happy to buy from a company within the state and keep money (semi-) local.
I could not find a place to make a review but here. I'm shocked how wonderful this company is awesome used games and really good prices fast free shipping the games look brand new . the packaging was beautifully wrapped .I'm never going use game stop ever again thank you estarland
This Place is great for trade in deals. I got my phone fix here and it was great. Cheapest price ever $50 to fix my iPhone 6s. Plus the customer service was great. Wait time was about 30 mins
This is a review of the WEBSITE, not the store itself. I have never visited the store, it is probably pretty cool.
The website, however, has the most awful customer service I have ever experience in my 20+ years of being a consumer. My first interaction was an online chat where the rep did not respond to me at all for the first five minutes, was incredibly disengaged, and closed the chat before I was done answering my questions.
Beyond that, their policies and practices for trade-in processing and purchases is pretty convoluted, but I thought I understood it from all the text on their website. However, there are a number of things that are not stated or are misleading, which has led to every transaction I have completed not working out how I thought it would. And every time I try to get an explanation for something or point out that they are not honoring their stated policies, the response from customer service is to either ignore, deflect, or claim they answered my questions (reminds me of a certain world leader). I complained about that first online chat - along with the fact that their shipping reimbursement suggests you used a shipping method that it is not actually allowed for shipping video games - and I never received any response. Their website information about your orders and available credit is often not up to date; same with their stock.
I hate conflict, and they have given me so much anxiety every time I try to do business with them. Their prices are the best on the internet, in terms of both out of print games and trade-in values, but it's really not worth it to shop there if you care about businesses being honest and open, and honoring their policies.
Bought a rare game and waited 2 weeks after the order processed for it to be shipped back, only to be put on back order because they couldn't find it. Little sketchy.
Seriously ? Basically- a warehouse FULL OF ALL THINGS GAME AND MERCH . Great controller prices and a hugeeeeeeeee selection of games and odds and ends . Will slightly confuse you upon entering the building, but no they didn't go out of business- it's just thru the weird office space foyer area . Also did I mention chocolate-banana pocky ? Among other flavors . And also Panda cookies :3
Love estarland just as much as I love gamestop. Love disk version of games if there were no disk versions I probably not be playing console games anymore just play games I have.
Long Story Short: Ok to buy games from but don't trust for repairs. Poor communication.
Short Story Long: I have bought several items that for more obscure systems were priced fairly. They were packaged well and shipped timely. My mistake was when I sent in a rare CD based system for repair ( New laser) Again they were priced fairly a little more than the cost for me to get the laser but I'd have peace of mind knowing they do this all the time. All I would have to do is ship the item at my cost but they cover return shipping. I packed my item well insured it and tracked that it was received by Estarland.
Their website states 1 day turnaround for the particular repair. ( Item arrived first week in August entered into their repair queue on August 11. I message on August 14th for an update stating queue time is delayed/extended. Ok no problem ( Maybe put that on your website). A few weeks go by I call ask for status as no time frame given and was told probably due to a delay in getting the replacement laser. (Again makes sense)
Next day I receive an email stating they attempted to replace the laser but there was an existing short on the metal beneath the laser. They swapped anyways and said my item doesn't want to read disc.
I then get an update saying my item is ready for pickup. I message them on their portal to send item back as I shipped it to them not dropped off. In the meantime I ordered my own replacement laser took me 3 days to receive.
I received my item back, packed well again.
They did refund me my original repair costs.
I tested and confirmed the original laser was still attached. I took apart the item to drop in my own laser and find 2 things.
1) They lied as there was no short on the metal nor signs of any mechanical issue.
2) I don't think they even opened up the system
I swapped the laser and soldered things correctly on the new assembly to appropriate cables etc. I test the system and it works plays games, music cds etc.
My guess is that they couldn't source a laser cheaply enough to cover their cost and decided to cut their losses and make up an issue as to why they couldn't repair the item or their tech doesn't have the basic soldering skills and as a result they failed to properly connect the replacement laser and made up said short.
Amazing wide selection, and knowledgeable staff. The reason for 3 stars is that 2 of the games I bought were defective. They need to better test their merchandise before they sell it. Turns out they needed to be cleaned (which they did upon return minus any voice track around sorry for the inconvenience). Buyer beware!
Even when they had low supplies to fix my switch, they work really fast and well. They even check to make sure you don't have any other problems with your console that you don't even know of.
The prices they quote online are accurate for trade in value, but they do not tell you until you show up in store that you have to wait 35-45 min for them to leave devices running to test them and create an account with them even for cash payments. They do not keep much cash in the register so if you're bringing in a lot of stuff at once they will lie over the phone and say they are good to go and then press for in store credit since they don't have the money. The checks take a week to mail out and the backroom staff testing hard drives or wiping them have literally been seen tossing components across the bins in the back like basketballs. I think their employees are really the issue on that front, but I appreciate the store as a trade in location and it does have a good selection.
Great for buying games but trading in games is kinda complicated and need to be simpler. Prepare to spend a lot of time looking around at the all the cool games, anime , and star wars stuff but keep an eye on the resgister to check out the staff hide in the back and dont notice you are ready but all and allgreay store great selection!
Best place ever . i went there last Saturday and traded a bunch of stuff. The staff were so friendly and helpful. This is my new place of heaven . its so much better then gamestop
Very poor customer service here. The people that work there act elitist, even though they have no knowledge of video games. I tried to trade in a ps vita. They told me my console was not working right because you could not use the joystick to navigate the home screen. I tried to inform them that it was an option and not a default feature. I was unable to update the firmware as they refused to allow the device to hook to thier wifi. Otherwise the store is fine lots of games at ebay prices. Do not expect to find any deals here. Non game items such as toys and other video game related merchandise are priced very high.
DO NOT USE THEIR REPAIR SERVICE DURING COVID-19. I sent my gameboy in for repair and waited an entire month just to be told it is unrepairable. I had asked them to give me updates multiple times before finally asking to cancel my order because I didn t want to wait any longer, which also happened to be a day before they told me it couldn t be repaired. I received the excuse that they had a limited repair team due to the pandemic. If you cannot handle repairs then do not accept them to save people money, time, and sanity!
There is a great selection of games and game paraphernalia here. The prices overall are average, but sometimes you can get a great deal here. It's a 20 minute drive away from me, but I go here a lot more often than I go to Gamestop that's like 5 minutes away.
eStarland is a diamond in the rough and their service is amazing! We were looking for Pokemon games and found one and they mentioned they had a second but it needed a battery replacement and they went to bat for us and were able to complete it. Just wonderful!
A true gamers paradise! They wrap everything and shrink wrap and their Quality Inspection is extremely high, so you won't be getting any busted games here. They have retro and modern, import and domestic! You name it high chance they have it. You can check the website for a item to see if it's in stock and pick up in store. You can also set alerts for when out of stock items come back. The prices are hit and miss, I can say for sure I got a great deal on a rare Dreamcast game. They also sell gaming merchandise like bags, hats, plushies, import figures, strategy guides and art books. The last Sunday of each month they have a Gamers Bazar where locals bring in games to sell and trade in the back. There are also contests and cosplay as well. Wonderful place!
Awesome place to go to get cheap games, used games, new games, old games for your Atari, Nintendo of any kind, or Sega of any kind. You have to see to believe. Knowledgeable and friendly staff...
This place is the BEST, Allen was super helpful. They go out of there way to provide the best service. also compared to LAMESTOP . Estarland actually cares about gamers and customers.
Nice selection of retro games. The staff is also helpful for finding that specific game for your collection. It gives off a feel as if you are at an anime convention with plushies, backpacks and keychains. Lots of figures as well for the collectors out there.
The first Sunday of each month also has a bazaar of different local vendors for those that need to find something not offered by the store.
I have done buys with them since 2009. Always liked the service. Even did a few trades. Very good selection of games. Hard to find places for retro games now. So I order from estarland and never regret it since.
I've been going to this place for some time now and all I have to say is that this ment is really great! I tried the repair service for my switch (internal fan repair and custom shell replacement) went perfectly. I was told it was gonna take 2 weeks because of the pandemic but in reality it took only 3 days. My fan wasn't badly damaged so they included that part of the repair for free. Next I tried the trade in to pay for the repairs. Worked smoothly and nothing was considered at all defective to them. Their trade in prices are phenomenal. Finally I tried their online shopping service. I ordered a used nintendo switch pro controller (used products get free shipping). I ordered it on a Wednesday and it came in on a Friday. Which is pretty fast in my opinion. Package came as expected and product worked great! Overall to sum this place up. I recommend it to anyone trying to buy sell and repair games and consoles. 10/10 would come again!
Couldn t test trade in same day for verification; told me I needed to leave it with them and wait till tomorrow to find out if they would take it. Really dumb!
This is quite possibly the best game story I have ever been to. They have an amazing selection of games from pretty much every major console ever released, and the employees usually care as much about games as the customers.
Lot's of different games and consoles, wide variety of merchandise. While not all merchandise will always be in stock, you can always order it online at a pretty decent price.
Bought 15 guides, 4 of which were marked as New condition. Clearly none of them were. Shelf wear, small scratches, sticker residue in the corner, small spine tears, erc. Nothing crazy, I know guides regularly have that sort of thing, but when you pay extra for the new version vs the preowned one it's pretty disappointing. Still priced fairly and quickly shipped, just maybe don't mark things as new that aren't?
great place. most of the time has everything I need, but the customer service is not that good. I was in a time crunch and I live 45 mins away, i didn't want to come back. I was trying to sell my xbox and when I had to leave they didn't even start the trade in process. There were also 3 employees and not that many people.
I came to eStarland to enter a SSB Melee tournament which was a lot of fun. The store itself has an insane amount amount of games, both retro and current. They also carry a lot of game and anime related merchandise. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
It's a bit of a drive for me, but it's always worth it to see their awesome stock of retro gaming goodness! Prices are decent, and totally nice staff too!
They just do it right. I have never been to the physical store, and have only used their website, for about 3 years now. Here are some reasons I would recommend them: they always respond to my emails quickly and with clear answers to questions, they have a great selection, games arrive in excellent condition, I could go on.... Just use them, because they will treat you right. Also I just cancelled a pre-ordered on their website - the game comes out TOMORROW - and they did it with no questions asked, and the money was back in my account immediately. Awesome. THANK YOU eSTARLAND!
I m not the gamer, but I ve been several times with my husband. He tells me that the trade in values are the best around. The store is clean and well organized. The reason I bumped down to 4 stars - we ve been several times now, and we ve NEVER been greeted or helped. Employees seem to keep to themselves and any friends in the store. I would at least like minimal niceties for the amount we are spending. Second reason for the bump - their system is a pain. No prices on anything; you have to search the prices from their website while you re shopping. Then, when you search, sometimes the game isn t even on their website (says out of stock). I ve added a photo of this. And then, the range was $22-60...which one is it? You d have to stand in line to check out to find out. You have to make an account to get any kind of warranty on your purchases.
So basically - 5* for games, cleanliness. 3* for service and systems.
Amazing selection and friendly staff. They know what their stuff is worth so you will be paying retail with no option of haggling but if you're looking for something rare then they've probably got it and in good condition to boot.
Sent 2 3DS for repair in May. I figured they couldn't get to them fast enough because of covid. 4 months later, I don't hear a word back from them. I logged in using the email to check my repair status and its no longer in the system. I tried emailing them several times to no response. I check their website and it says "systems held for more than 30 days will be considered abandoned and we are not responsible." Don't send your systems here unless you're ok not getting them back
I actually really like Estarland but I can only give it a 3/5. I've been a customer since they were based out of a closet in Fairfax. The prices are hit-and-miss. The customer service has slightly improved in the past years. Trading in older games is always a pain because you never know what's going to get rejected. But trading in here is better than trading into Gamestop. The GamersXchange is also a great program run by them in which people can come and basically have a flea market centered around video games.
I like being able to get some store credit and buy other games, but I once tried to trade in a game that they said they could not accept, but they were not clear on why they could not accept it. I get a little frustrated about trying to figure out who works here. Sometimes the staff dress just the same as some of the customers!
Much better for trade ins than gamestop. They take hardware and games from older consoles as well as new. They made trading in all my old stuff really easy. Store selection is awesome for if I still played video games.
I've been using their mail-in / trade-in service for about 2 years now. (I live out of state) Most of the time it's been very good. Up until recently they have become very difficult with accepting anything that isn't "brand new" condition. They claim a variety of reasons why they can't give me the full trade-in value, but most of the time I'm left scratching my head as the items were fine when they left my house. It might be better if they took pictures of their concerns and work it out with the customer from there. Or perhaps it's better to do it in-person. Whatever the solution I can't recommend their current service as is especially the last 6 months as they seem less and less willing to help.
I suggest you don't get caught up in the "best trade-in prices" if you use their mail-in service. And look elsewhere for your trade-ins.
They do a great job doing diagnostic services, but honestly, you should just let them do all of your modifications. They are professional and have a very quick turn around. Don't try it yourself. Save time and money and take it to estarland for perfect results!!!
From out of town, visiting DC, drove an hour to check out. Very disappointed. Staff wasn t helpful. Bathrooms were dirty. Nothing was priced. Had to manually search for and price items on look up kiosks. Only reason I didn t give this one star was because they had a reasonable amount of inventory.
The vast collection of video games they have their is mind-blowing along with the other merchandise that go along with it. Definitely and on her gem that needs to be known
Great place to go. Hands down this is your one stop shop for all your gaming needs. If your an 80s baby this is your dream house for all your classics. Great and friendly staff. Great prices and the best trade in value unlike the other game shops.
Highly recommend this place! Lots of great old school gear with super helpful staff. Picked up a used pspgo in perfect condition, very pleased with the while experience!
Extremely extensive catalog of games from all genres, all cleanly wrapped as if they were new. Only downsides are the staff can sometimes be painstakingly slow at checkout and a lot of the games are on shelves behind the counter, making it really hard to look for yourself. Prices are OK, if slightly above market value. Definitely worth checking out.
