Good selection, average prices, janky (slow) point...
Good selection, average prices, janky (slow) point of sale system.
Good selection, average prices, janky (slow) point of sale system.
Great selection, but there aren't prices on a lot of things
If you need old school videogames, this is the only decent place besides videogamenewyork in 300 mile radius. Good luck with that.
Best game store on the internet and in real life for everything used and hard to find new stuff. Have been shopping here for a while in person and online, but recently ordered a new (old) PSP, which arrived after literally 36 hrs (from Chantilly to Richmond) and came in such good condition I was moved to actually write a review. Please, buy stuff from them.
Horrible customer service. Staff was very rude and unpolite.. I worked Customer Service and retail and this is not how it should be done. Wanted to support a local game store but because of this I won't be back.
Such a great place, great selection and top condition on games.
Always something cool to find. A massive warehouse of video games. They buy and sell for reasonable prices.
What you need to know: (1) Higher trade-in values than GameStop! (2) Friendly and knowledgeable staff, these people don't just work here, they know videogames and gaming culture. (3) In addition to buying/selling games/hardware/accessories, they also do repairs! (4) they carry software/hardware from the beginnings of gaming all up to current gen hardware (no PC gaming as far as I could tell, though). (5) You can do your trade-ins and purchases online and then pick up at the store OR use shipping services.
All in all, it's worth the drive, I regularly make the 20+ miles commute from where I live versus going to my local Gamestop, and it's worth it every time. I always leave happy and stoked to play with whatever I pick up. They've got a lifetime customer out of me for sure!!
This place has games from almost every system you could think of. Imports, rare systems. They repair old systems, and the selection can't be beat. You might pay a but more, but for the convenience of picking up a rare gem immediately, and the professional knowledge they provide, it's totally worth it.
Very helpful and understanding love to shop there!!!
I searched for "where can I find used magazines"..... Why did this place come up????? This is why the internet is stupid.
Very cool place with a great staff and a big library of products.
I would never recommend this shop for repairs to anyone who actually wants their item repaired.
I sent my 3DSXL in in September to be repaired. After several weeks of not hearing back after I had reached out via email, I decided to call. The associates who answer the phones sound annoyed to be there.
The item still is not fixed and as of today when I asked to cancel the order I was told "We'll pass the information off to the repair department" with no order cancelation confirmation, no information on how this will be refunded back to me, just "I'll pass this off and have a good day."
I will make sure when ever someone asks about system repairs I will loudly exclaim never Estarland!
Great system and selection for products. Friendly staff. Odd intake, but can make the experience better and faster
Best used video game store in the NoVA/DC area. You name it they have it!
This place is cool...a lot to look at...make sure you allow yourself some time to browse...and buy something...support small business...Game stop sucks...don't let them take over the retro game market
As a buyer, I classify the eStarland as one of the best stores to buy games and accessories the internet. Its products are even used as new. Highly recommend to all!
Gamer heaven. Great prices. Good value on trade in. If you can't find it here, you don't need it.
Best rates on trade. The amount of games and collectable figures in this store is astounding.
Staff aren't honest. Or helpful. I went there maybe 2 weeks after the New Nintendo 3ds came out to purchase a 3ds, I admit I didn't know the new one was different then the regular 3ds, but I asked serveral times about it, and even brought up the pokemon 20th anniversary edition NEW Nintendo 3ds, and the guy behind the counter said that wasn't a console, it was just cover for the system which is partly true, it's a system with covers for both red and blue pokemon. But it is the new Nintendo 3ds. It was 199.99 brand new at Amazon and gamestop, and they kept telling me it was no different same system as the regular 3ds, so I got one and went home and a few days later went to download earthbound from the virtual console and couldn't cause it required the NEW Nintendo 3ds which I didn't have, and couldnt get cause it was too late to return the 3ds I bought from estarland. Had the guy been honest and said they didn't have any new Nintendo 3ds's and at least let me know it existed, I would have bought my games, and got they he system some where else but all my other games would come from estarland. But now they have lost my business for ever, I've felt ripped of ever since my purchase.
They have good selection and decent prices. The staff never really seem to be interested though. Checkout was extremely long.
Retro collectors can rejoice!! This place is awesome because of their huge library and great trade in value! This is bookmarked on every device I have. Definitely my go-to for any game or system for my collection.
Excellent place if your looking for anything gaming related or trading in anything gaming related.
Anything and everything gaming, old systems, new systems! everything!
pure waste of time trying to trade in to this place. shipping rebates do not cover the cost of shipping so easily offsets the higher trade in prices.
will not recommend this store to anyone in the gaming comunity.
Tons of gaming systems you would think were gone forever
eStarland Has repaired, lately, seven of my older systems and i am happy with the results. If you need repairs on like:3DO,Atari Jaguar, etc.Even the very rare Nuon,These are the go to people for repairs on your classic gaming systems.Check them out.
Very nice place for retro gamers, but they don't sell systems in box and they only have a few games in box.
50 bucks to fix an iphone screen and it looks great and is working perfectly. Super deal!
Great product selection, especially if you are looking for older consoles and used games. I don't recommend purchasing hardware accessories here. They won't let you return it once it's been opened even if the item is broke. Aside from that, it's a hidden gem.
It is a very nice store with many game genres, games, consoles and so much more.
Very nice staff and an amazing selection. Definitely going back!
Place looks pretty unsuspecting from the outside but it's a true retro store on the inside. Definitely the place to go if looking for hard to find old games.
Actually pretty magical. A little overpriced, but really cool to visit.
Great place when looking for new and old game systems and games.
Its a great place to shop for collectors the pre owned games and systems are fairly clean to the point where you'll think its new but that's the best part the quality of whatever you purchase is in decent shape I remember estarland from the early 90's when friends told me about this place I went and was in gaming heaven ever since and now its the late thousands and Im still blown away I recently went here last month and did a trade in and the values in return were incredible however one minor gripe and no hard feelings to anyone employed here I wish the staff would communicate more and have more enthusiasm other than that Im nothing short of a satisfied customer
I seldom review places, but I just had to throw five stars at this place. Cool people working there, pretty amazing selection to browse through.
Normally when you trade systems/games in at other places, you feel like you're getting ripped off. The amounts that eStarland offers aross the board rival selling stuff yourself to a private buyer. I was happy to take that hit for convenience alone, and it gave me an excuse to come in and check out their cool building.
Horrible experience for us! There was this boy named Humter, he was very unhelpful, all he did was talk to other costumers instead of point me to the trade ins desk. I show him that I have trade ins but even that didn't give him a clue to the right thing. What a douche!
Great prices better then GameStop, wish the checkout was just little bit faster
I have been to many game shops across the US. This one has one of the largest selections I have ever seen. And as with every other place with a large selection, it is because they are asking too much for their stuff. The store is very organized, and the staff was nice... that is the only reason they get 3 stars and not 1. There are no prices on anything, you have to look each item up online. Ok, I am a nerd... but after about 5 games it got really old. Then i hit entire boxes of games that were not on the site... like most of the Super famicom games. Not to mention when i did get prices for anything they were either right at retail or multiples higher. So i found a game i wanted... mega man x7 for ps2. It came up as $9.95(ish) and pricecharting has it at $9.20. Ok, i will grab this one today. When she rungs it up, it is $23. I was like "uh, i put in the specific stock number and it was $9.95". So she told me that price is for the disc only, no case and book. Oh. It is shrink wrapped with the case and book. So now I realize to get a price for anything i need to look it up, open the details, figure out the attributes for the proper pricing of that item, and match it to their records. Pass. I will stick to buying online, at which point i will compare their prices to common online sources and not buy from them. Now i know why they have a huge selection.
Humongous selection for any retro gaming, nerdy. Fan
They have a lot games for a lot of different consoles. Videos games for Atari 2600 to ps4. They also have models, clothing, and accessories from anime, cartoons, and video games. Some of rare games you'll find that you will pay through the nose.
Great spot for classic or new games and game systems!
Cancelled my order so they could resell for a higher price. Tried claiming I bought over the limit- I bought one game.. nice try.
Found some nice deals on video games that would've cost me a fortune though 3rd party websites. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable on what I needed. They also store some collectible items and retro games.
I dropped my ps4 for repairs and it s been like 3 weeks almost 4 and have gotten no updates on it and don t even estimated time of getting it back. When I email they just email me back that they are busy. They barley pick up the phone when I call for updates on repair. I would not recommend dropping off anything here for repairs
Video Game Heaven, a lot of cool anime video game genre items, worth visiting if your a fan
A friend and I run a once a month trip called the Nerd Tour. We are both from Fredericksburg and for the last two years have run the tour down there. A few months ago, we expanded the tour by adding a northern run which encompasses several stores in the Woodbridge/Lorton area.
I don't know if it's fate, or if due to my job sending me to Dulles/Sterling/Chantilly every so often, and one of my favorite games being Grandia that I found this place. Randomly, I was recommended this place via Tik Tok, and talked to my friend about it.
Today I came up here to scout the place pre Nerd Tour to get a sense of what they have. Holy hell. I wandered around the store for four hours, taking pics to send to him and then taking an in depth look for myself.
This place is IT. What a fantastic selection of retro and modern games, even imports! The Saturn and Dreamcast has loads of import games. There are also quite a few rare gems to find here, which you can also consult on their website for items/pricing. The best bit is the amount of IN BOX games you can find there, especially if you like to collect Sega Genesis games. They also carry strategy guides for popular games.
Aside from games, they have a great bit of merchandise related to gaming/anime. If you're into collecting waifu statues/figs they got you covered. Wallets, pins, hats, backpacks, socks and more also line their shelves. The back seems to also host a custom store, where you can get items custom made.
Over 9000/10
Broke my scouter, but I'd go back again.
An institution. Get lost in here. So much cool nerd stuff.
I enjoy browsing around this place and finding gems to add to my collection. The depth of inventory is unmatched in the area. I've also received fair prices on my trades to turn old into new.
Ordered "Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones" from them online. They sent me a damaged cartridge that took about 10 tries to get to work on either my original model Gameboy Advance or my Gameboy Advance SP. Uncertain if I'll ever buy from them again.
Just walked in after hearing from a friend they fix phone screens for a very reasonable price, staff was helpful and my phone was done within an hour. Definitely recommend phone services, they also have a very wide selection of games and figurines!
1000x better than GameStop. They don't hound you and give you your space.
1. Huge selection
2. Great trade in values
3. Friendly staff
Awesome place
Do not trust their "repair" services. If i could give them 0 stars, I would. I sent my Sega CD in for repair and, according to them, it was damaged in transit and not repairable. They sent it back to me and, upon inspection, the motherboard had been swapped out for one that had been recapped and had damaged circuit traces. The BIOS chip had also been tampered with. The motherboard in my unit was not faulty to begin with and I did not authorize any work to be performed on it. When I contacted them to resolve the situation, they ignored me. Do not trust your precious retro hardware to them. They are unethical and dishonest.
RUDE SALES ASSOCIATE: Came in today to see if they had gotten any Xbox Series X's in. Was told that it was a possibility but no guarantee by an employee a couple weeks back. Wanted to support a local shop if I could and knew I was taking a chance of not getting one. Waited out front for about 20 mins, small line by the time they opened up. Walked to the counter and the guy seemed to be doing something so I just patiently waited. The guy looks up at me and just says 'YES?" I was kinda surprised by his annoyed behavior but thought maybe i just misheard him. I asked if they had gotten any Xboxs. He just stares at me and says "NO" rudely and thats it, says no and stares at me. Not No, did not get any in yet sorry, or No we wont be getting any in stock for a little while. Just a sarcastic no and starring at me.
Sorry I tried to purchase a $500 SYSTEM from you all instead of he big box stores. I wont make that mistake again. Honestly they have a lot of cool old games but you can find the same stuff online for around the same price and you wont have to worry about dealing with rude store associates who are annoyed with you for NO REASON at all.
If you love videogames this is the place you want to go never had a bad experience here staff is always great friendly and very helpful. Best trade ins anywhere you won't find a better price wether your building your collection or trying to sell it, they got you.
Looking for old school games and consoles this is definitely the place to shop
This is a great place to find older games as well as a bunch of gamer swag. They also have occasional game trading events and even provide repair services for older consoles. The staff is pretty awesome, though I wish their checkout process was quicker.
Love the ambiance! Warehouse showroom implies awesome prices but I feel like they are about average.
I love this place! I have been shopping at their store for years but then moved to Texas so I use their online store now but the service is always great and they always have an amazing inventory of retro video games along w/ anime collectibles. The shipping is what I can really appreciate. It's always fast and items always arrive well packaged. I'm a collector of statues so this is important for me. Estarland is awesome!!!
A good place to stop on the way back from Shenandoah or Great North mountain on the way back to meet people in Northern VA. A large browsing selection. Sometimes checkout lines can be slow on Saturdays. Kind customer service.
My son wanted his ps vita fixed so I dropped it off and so then I got an email saying that there was no prof in that the ps vita was mine and now this is very bad ima sue you guys that s not legal to take other peoples stuff
One of the best place for retro and current game store. Much better than most of other gamestop that are trying to be like this store. A must visit for all retro nerds!
eStarland offers a massive collection of video games of nearly all generations to some degree. The store is organized enough so that first-time customers can find what they need, albeit some extra time spent searching may be necessary. Games by system are largely typed together, but games of the same company may be spread across the store. Items of higher value may be behind glass cases, although this organization is sub-par. Additionally, several computers exist for customers to use to see if specific items are readily available. However, this also serves as the only means to check prices, as games and other items have their own barcodes. For someone looking for an individual title quickly, the computer is best to use. On the other hand, going in blind to then finding a handful of games means that a considerable amount of time will be spent looking up prices online. Because eStarland serves foremost as a digital storefront, this allows remote customers to see what items are in stock and the option to be notified when the item becomes available. As an in-store customer, there really are no added benefits compared to other stores, and the computer-driven method for everything is a hassle. Because eStarland offers free shipping for orders over $10, ordering online really is the better option. And, as with any game store, the trade-in value is best for those needing quick cash, so one shouldn't expect a huge payout.
eStarland also caters to non-gamers or a gamer who may be interested in otaku culture, with items relating to anime and manga available. The store supports local artists for this sub-group as well. Arcade machines and few game systems are for customers' free enjoyment. The location also hosts gaming events of various kinds which grants NoVA an good means of a gaming community. Lastly, the store has a team dedicated to in-store repairs, so broken consoles can be serviced here.
The best game store in the DMV, and even West Virginia for that matter! They have literally almost any game imaginable for purchase, many artifacts and rare boxes and consoles on display as well. They always have very decent prices that regularly beat eBay and Amazon. The greatest part however must be the gamersXchange, which is a flea market, usually once a month (further details on the website) with video games only, and I find this as a great convenience as I find myself going to more than a dozen yard sales on some weekends without even finding a single game. The prices at the gamersXchange are also even lower than the store's, though it depends on the game and it's value. I highly, highly recommend any gamers who go through the DMV to come here; it's located only a few minutes away from Dulles International Airport and the hotels surrounding it, so if you are here going to MAGfest, don't hesitate to drop by and check out their huge library of games available for purchase!
I ordered a Super NES console package from eStarland. It was shipped in less than 1 business week. It arrived in good order, shrink-wrapped and with all accompanying components. It worked perfectly. Even for a used unit, it was in superb condition, with no outward signs of wear-n-tear. Overall this was an excellent purchase experience. I would highly recommend eStarland.
The store is nice and all, with a good selection. I'm rating this one star because they sold me a game that doesn't work. I bought a copy of halo 2 to play with my friend, but when I'd start the campaign it wouldn't load. So the next day I took the game back to them, they tested it (which took a good half hour) and gave the same game back to me saying it worked fine, and that I might have a broken system. I bought another copy off of Ebay and it worked like new.
This review is for the Technology Service's. I recently used them to service/repair a Macbook Pro, Nintendo Switch and a Microsoft Surface Pro. The Macbook was having start up and storage issues, the Switch needed a new battery and the Microsoft Surface needed a new glass screen & updates to the operating system. I'm very pleased to say that Estarland did an excellent job for very competitive rates. Communication was great and all of the work was done quickly. If you need help, I wouldn't hesitate to use them! I highly recommend Estarland!
Understanding staff, lots of patience. Offer good prices for games and consoles- better than Gamestop and JJgames! Quick checkout process. Would reccommend for buying older games or selling.
They were pretty good up until last week. My order was due to ship last week but hasn't. I tried contacting them but their live chat is down and they won't respond to emails or telephone. Are they about to go under?
Good selection of retro and new games, nice employees. Good place to talk to employees about games and to shop.
If you're looking for trades or imports this is the place to go
Great selection, just annoying that there is no prices on any of the games. You're supposed to use the computers to find all the prices but that's time consuming and some of the items don't show up. Still worth the trip if you're looking for retro or import games.
Great place with friendly staff. Don't expect to make a short visit. Spend time looking around and enjoy all they have. For new folks visiting I would suggest people sign up on the website before visiting. Helps speed up the trade on process.
Estarland is like never-never land for 50's and below.
There was a large selection of games and consoles there! They didn't have everything on the show floor, but they had what we wanted in their warehouse section!
For all of you classic gamers and collectors, eStarland is an absolute gem and right I our backyard!
Much better than GameStop. Had every game I could think of, staff was friendly and helpful.
Quite dissatisfied with my experience. I completed my ps3 console trade-in and game purchase order at one of their kiosks per their instruction. I waited in line for a bit and a clerk from the back took my ps3 to test it. I continued waiting. Clerk came out of the back and put my ps3 next to the clerk at the front desk. Front desk clerk continued helping the customer he was with and I proceeded to wait another 5-10 minutes. There were about four people behind me in line checking their watches and tapping their feet. At one point he grabs my ps3 and gives it to me and says "Sorry we can't take this, we have too many". I was in the store approximately 30 minutes to be told this. I left without purchasing the game I was there for and probably won't return.
I love the store, if you're anything like me, you can look through the inventory for hours. My most recent experience there was not so pleasant, however. I recently bought a relatively rare game that was pretty expensive, I brought it home and to my surprise, it didnt work. I immediately took it back to the store where I was met with one of the biggest clusters I have ever seen. There must have been 5 employees within sight, but only one guy was helping any of the customers. After repeated attempts to get his coworkers to perform some customer service, he finally gave up and just started doing everything himself. When I ask one of the other employees for help, he was tremendously rude and dismissive. The one working guy ended up replacing my game, much to the chagrin of the other employees whom all acted as if I had purposefully sabotaged the game just so I could come back to the store and be graced by their presence. Had I not gone back immediately, I probably would have been out $50.
All in all, the trade in prices are the highest you'll find on the market. The selection of games and accessories is unrivaled and the prices (although a little high) are fair. Those three facts along with the fact that they replaced my broken game (although somewhat begrudgingly) gets them 4 stars. I revoked the 5th star because of how pompous all but one, singular, employee acted. Get a manager in the store who isn't afraid to fire somebody and stop hiring your friends.
