DoubleTree by Hilton Bloomington Hotel, Minneapolis South Review

Somebody came walking into my room at 3 am. We told the hotel staff that they booked our room to another customer the next morning and the staff blamed it on us. Told us we weren't supposed to be in that room.. if that's the case, why did they assign us that room 5 days prior? Very unprofessional. Lucky for the random guest, I didn't have my gun with me or he could've been shot. Very bad mistake for the hotel to make, and they handled it very poorly by telling us it was our fault. Not a single apology was given to us. Definitely will not return. My company booked about 60 rooms for the event that we hold there every year. We will make sure that we take our business elsewhere from now on.

The function rooms are nice and the chairs are not extremely uncomfortable.

No where to unload and check in, you have to park far away. Stains on the sheets, temp gauge didnt work at all, it was set at 70 for 5 hours and when we came back to the hotel it was only 64 in our room. There was dried ketchup on the wall next to our bed, the room was dirty with crumbs everywhere, there was hair on the wall in the shower not hair off a head either it looked like pubic hair and that was upon showering the first night so it was either missed or not cleaned at all. We didnt get any sleep the last night because it was loud, people running up and down the hallways, we came for a hockey tournament and my kid needed to be up at 6am and was still up around 1130 because people were so loud and they put us right next to the pool area. Called down to front desk and was told things should start settling down but until then theres nothing they can do so she was super helpful. We will not be staying here again, this Hilton hotel was horrible. Unsatisfactory, uncomfortable and disappointing.

Not a great stay. Very slowly hotel shuttle from airport. Room key issues upon checkin .Dinner at hotel was below average and dirty plates at breakfast buffet. Would likely not Saturday here again.

Very nice, friendly staff, great food in the hotel. Only downside is there is no microwave or refrigerator in the rooms.

New management doesn't enjoy or treat cosplayers well

Stayed here many times. Always pleasant and great for groups. Food is solid and bar is open late. Gym is okay, not good or great but close enough to local LA Fitness.

I left my blue tooth speaker in my room at check out over a month ago now, still no call back or compansation for this spendy birthday present my 76 old mother got me. Pathetic excuses for such a corporate giant! Don't waist your time here!

Desk clerks are incompetent. Key didn't work 3 times and they finally figured out the room was already occupied. Shouldn't they know that? Then to have a nonchalant attitude about it like it's no big deal. Carrying all your luggage back and forth from the desk to the room 3 times is a big deal to me. Find a different hotel, the Sheraton is close and my next stay will be there.

This space was perfect for meeting with a large group of people.

Thought it would have 2 queens in the room but was 2 doubles which are too small!

It was a very clean hotel. The poolside room we used was huge! Pool was huge. Hot tub was huge. 10 out of 10

Great and clean rooms, free shuttle to mall of America and from the airport. Was able to check in much earlier than regular check in. Breakfast was also fantastic.

The room was clean, the pool wasn't gross. All you can ask for.

There was such a long line to check in when we got here that it was backed up to the entrance door and took about 20 min to check in. Beautiful room. Lots of space in the room, not so much in the bathroom. There is unknown hair in the bathroom. The clock is not set correctly and there is no known way to reset it. The TV keeps going black and then back on. This is not the worst hotel I have stayed in but it is definitely not the best.

Great place. Stayed for a business meeting for the week. Very friendly staff, very comfortable rooms, and the breakfast buffet is amazing! Really enjoyed it, and if I'm back for another meeting, I'd be glad to stay again.

I stayed here to enjoy their pool and hot tub after finding an online weekend deal for $80 a night. We asked for a room near the pool but passed when we heard it had a $75 upcharge. Our room was nice, modern, clean. Shower had great water pressure and a spot to hang your suit. The room walls were a bit thin and with the TV or room fan off, you could hear them. The pool was fine, the jets on the hot tub don't really work. Some knocks that kept me from 4 stars that weren't a 100% the hotels fault were a dirty diaper left next to the elevators all morning, a couple fairly intoxicated guests with glass in the hot tub and a young child standing on the edge of the hot tub and urinating into it... which was the point we left. When we visited, the pool gets very busy from 9-11pm.

I attended a class in Atrium Room 2 in the North Tower. The room was perfect. The temperature was just right for sitting in a classroom. The tables and chairs were the perfect distance apart. Our instructor mentioned how someone from the hotel came in and set up her audio visual equipment for her. She was very impressed.

This was a nice location for a convention, although at 6,000 attendees, it was definitely about at capacity for the size of the venue, and the hallways felt awfully narrow at times.

Got stuck in a elevator on Valentine's day for an hour and a half got a 20 Wild Cherry Pepsi for the trouble

Service very bad, especially against Chinese , can't find the booking ,we have complained to the front desk manager , he said he doesn't care, so bad service as an hotel service shall be shame.

Was at the Diamond Service Award Dinner and it was great!

Great space for convention. Loved the pool suites.

No hotel can be 5 stars when they still use a shower/tub combo, but that's really my only complaint.

Just called to ask a simple question. Mark LaVasser was rude and should never answer the phone. I do not recommend this hotel they are completely rude not helpful at all

Good place for a conference. Conference food was average. Rooms are slightly dated.

The breakfast is great, lots of choices. The staff is friendly. I feel like the rooms could use a face lift but it's not terrible. A Starbucks in the lobby for the win.

My room was nice and spacious and kept pretty clean. Everything was in working order but the hand towel rack was a little loose in the wall. The breakfast buffet was delicious and had a decent spread and the food provided to us for dinner was excellent as well.

Ok hotel, our door chain thing broke the first time we opened our door, then the bath took forever to drain, plus... the toilet leaked lol. We used our towels to keep cleaning the leak, told the front desk and asked for more towels and finally got 2! It was pretty bad

This hotel frequently hosts conventions and they do a very good job.

The building is always clean and service provided is great.

No hot breakfast or complimentary coffee. Have to buy it at the Starbucks that's there.

Interesting room structure and arrangement. A little dispersed for events.

Good clean rooms. Depending on the time on the time of day, slow elevator.

Overall a nice place. Rooms are starting to get some upgrades, such as new carpet, etc. The staff at the bar is nice. It's also nice for event hosting (such as Anime Detour).

Friendly staff. Hotel is a bit dated. The bathroom setup was not the most convenient. The only counterspace was behind the toilet so you to lean over it to get to your things. Food in the onsite restaurant was good but service was extremely slow and I felt as though I was bothering the wait staff by ordering another drink.

I love staying at this hotel! Great amenities. Just an all around cool place.

As someone who visited over a 100 hotels in my life span i can say that my stay at DoubleTree could be decsribed as subpar. I could go on about how unwelcoming this place is ranging from phone not getting answered repeatedly , to hotel not providing the absolute base minimum fresh towels (even when asked 3 times in 3 separate occasions getting told it will be sent to my room). The rooms lack cleanness when it comes to bathrooms (uknown hair spread everywhere, air conditioning filters(it litterly smells like dirty socks everytime i'm forced to put the ac on.

Nice place for a meeting. The Great Lakes Shipwreck meeting was held around the pool and in medium sized rooms on the next level up with easy access by escalator. The signage to take you meetings is basically non-existent. The facility is quite large, so picking the wrong entrance can leave you with a long walk.

Pillows are super soft. Water gets to the perfect Temp and has good force. The hotel decor is great. Got a little lost in the elevators and stairwells.

Check in took a little time, not excessive. This is a big hotel with Clean, comfortable rooms and the price is in my budget. I will make an effort to stay here whenever I travel in the area.

Big place that's showing its age but rooms seem like they've recently been redone. Solid place for the price.

Disappointing. I am very loyal to Hilton and stay at DoubleTrees pretty much everywhere I go. This was the worst stay and a poor reflection on Hilton. When checking in, the guy in front of me in the check-in line reported that his room when he got up there was filthy, dirty toilet and crumbs all over the room. The woman behind me said "OMG what is this I need to change hotels!" But I told her no no I am sure it is just a fluke accident, I always stay at Hiltons and they are great. But when I got to my room, there was hair all over my bathtub....which I ended up cleaning myself. I am also Silver status but not only did they not recognize this at check-in, nor provided me with the associated courtesy bottled water, they didn't even offer me a signature cookie which is usually the best part! I eventually did ask for one but it was burnt. The window in my room was all foggy from the outside so I couldn't see any of the view, which is why I chose that particular room in the first place. The wifi was also not working and above me there was a loud party going on, coupled with the airplane sound of the wall unit AC made it difficult to fall asleep. On the plus side, the pool and jacuzzi were amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed my the swimming experience.

The staff was magnificent. Though the hotel itself is a bit outdated, everything was in order and well maintained. This single star is because the owners decided to bully our convention and mandate arbitrary rules clearly going against our contract. We had two choices, forefeit our convention and let it die, or give in to their strongarm tactics. We chose to make the best of a bad situation.

I recommend you choose a different hotel if you are holding a convention or general to-do as the owners have delusions of a 2star at best hotel is a 5 star.

I repeat, DO NOT sign any contracts with these people.

Nice venue for the convention, clean and easy to navigate

We had a great time this weekend while attending the karate tournament! The staff was warm and friendly and it was spacious. The hotel in general is beginning to show some age but appears to be well maintained overall. One suggestion would be to add a regular kids menu to the restaurant.

Not what you would expect of a Hilton. Have seen nicer, newer rooms at motel 6. thin walls, can hear people next door cough. Front desk clerks customer service skills are mediocre at best. Feels run down and small. Disappointed.

It is a little worn down and could use some updates. Staff was wonderful. It was clean and rooms were great. We were there between Christmas and New year and the coffee shop was closed.
