Saw it s Bus passing by on the left supposed to stop on the right to pick up the renters. Waiting for 30 minutes and finally one came by but it was full and can t do anything about it. Dropped one renter and tons of dollars are waiting for pickup at LAX airport. No more Dollars. No thank you

We had to change cars midway through maintenance of the vehicle and Lourdes attended us great, spoke Spanish, so we found it easy to solve the problem, it was effective and friendly. Thank you!!

Good overall... Shuttle came quick... Line wait time was reasonable, but they should look into hiring more staff at night... I had about 5 mid size cars to pick from, 3 were red but that didn't bother me.

My stepson loved the car and the pricing
However it would be highly advised for the Staff to explain traffic rules to foreigners
He unfortunately ended up with 2 fastrack violations because he didn't know that he shouldn't drive in that particular carpool lane :-(

Dropping the car off was fine, but the shuttle ride was ridiculous! It took SO long to get to the airport and the guy driving the shuttle was terrible, just terrible. He was rude, it took forever to get picked up, and once he started driving it took nearly half an hour to get to the airport, which is rudiculous! I've never been on a shuttle that long in my life. .. we nearly missed our flight.

This car rental company needs to be investigated for fraud.

Not only did we need to wait 2 hours for a car that was supposed to be reserved for us (at nearly midnight, mind you), but they finally told us that the car wasn't available. They then proceeded to offer us an upgraded car free of additional charge. Lo and behold, we find out later that they not only charged us the higher price, but they charged us TWICE.

Whether this is gross incompetence or fraudulent business practices is up to you to decide. I sincerely hope the managerial staff of this company is investigated at some point in the future. Alas, we must now spend significantly more time and effort to resolve this issue. Avoid at all costs.

FYI, please file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Los Angeles if you experience similarly fraudulent service.

We reserved a car for Friday night and when reached there, they didn't have any car. Standard answer from the staff was 'no cars now. It will take 1-2 hours' but there were people waiting there seemed to wait for long time. It was midnight and Kids were sleeping on the floor. Fortunately I got a rental car from a different company.
This is absolutely terrible and the dollar company could have informed the customers earlier and they could have arranged for an alternative.

First and Last time I ever deal with this company. I reserved a car on priceline the night before but when I was advised that there policy required a 24 hr
Notice before I could pickup the car. RIDICULOUS. I decided to walk .5 of mile to Enterprise who afforded me a vehicle even though I made my reservation on the 15min walk to their location. Dollar Rent A Car - Never Again

I rarely give 1 star ratings unless you really earn it.

This place did, the staff is not friendly. I'm guessing after working here you get nasty because everyone seemed like they did not enjoy what they did, knew what they were doing or even cared.

Customers are numbers and just hope your number gets called. We had to stand out back in an EMPTY parking lot and wait for cars to be returned so they could provide you with a car. After numerous hours of flying we stood in heat for hours and waited. There were 20-40 people waiting.

The return process outs easy. Just figure out how to enter the lot, park, wait forever for the girl to scan you in because the batteries are dead in the scanner and no one can locate a working machine.

They do offer free shuttles to and from the airport. They will be packed right.

Go with a top rental car company in LA. It will be worth the upgrade.

Cost $700 for a ford fusion for 5 days. This was twice as much as the quote they gave me. After waiting in line for over an hour I was already late and needed a car so I bit the bullet and paid up.

WORST CAR RENTAL COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH!

BEWARE OF DOLLAR SCAMMING YOU WITH REGARD TO AAA OR UNDER 25 RATES.

To start off with, the lady behind the counter was horribly rude and had absolutely no interest in helping me. Before my trip to LA, I was given false information by Dollar confirming that my AAA membership would wave the under 25 price for me. A Dollar representative said over the phone that my car would cost $128, and then when I arrived at this location in person the lady behind the counter insisted that I had to pay over $700 and refused to recognize my AAA membership.

After having to call AAA for 30 minutes in the lobby of Dollar LAX to get the situation handled, we ultimately had to organize with another car rental company to rent a new car which AAA thankfully managed to help me with.

And when you think it can t get worse, there s is not a single manager on site to address these issues to.

PLEASE go somewhere else and save yourself from trouble, scams, and poor customer care on your trip.

There was a lot of attempts to sting me with all sorts of extras. Even though I had insurance, everyone said I did not have and tried to push their insurance if anything happened. Because I was tired after flying, I fell into the trap and agreed to get the extra. I asked to cancel after a few days and then claimed that it was impossible to return to the station from which I had rented.
In short, little crooks.

There were not enough attendants checking costumers in. There was a lady training an employee and literally said, they might be dumb so you have to tell people what to do. Also, we rented a car seat and all of the car seats were wet! We had to pick the least wet one! Think about the poor baby exhausted because she had been traveling for hours only to sit in a WET cat seat for the next 2hr drive! Not happy at all!

Oh well. What a miserable experience at LAX. The wait time on the curb was 25 minutes. I tried calling Dollar to see if an earthquake had swallowed the LA location with their buses but never made it past the hold music. 10 minutes listening to that and marketing talk made me cry. Sadly saw more than 5 Hertz and Avis buses go by, even thrifty came by 3 times. When arriving at the place there's a long line. But wait, I did the "rapid rental" so this must be fast. Right? Wrong! Same line. Nothing "rapid" about it. So where does this leave us? Well I'm not at the counter, yet, and already an hour into trying to pick up a "rapid rental" car. Oh well just another company that is completely failing at customer service.

Madness! We have always borrowed the car at Alamo, which has always been great! But at Dollar / Thrifty I have to join !!! We waited 1.5 hours and that was after midnight, I do not want to know how it is going there during the day !!!
I have never seen such lousy staff !!!!
And on top of that, the car was really dirty, inside and out !!!!

Stay away from Dollar Rental car. What a sh!t show!! 16 stations at the counter and only 2 working... with over 25 customers waiting in line. They have taken care if 5 customers in front if me in half an hour!! Should have gone with Hertz!

Had to wait over 40 mins at the airport for shuttle. My rental cost was doubled at counter. Price quoted for 3 days was originally $81.00. At counter price totalled $140.00.!!! Later adjusted to $70.00. I will not use Dollar at LAX ever again. I should have stayed with Enterprise. 6 Shuttles from Enterprise picked up customers from airport before 1 shuttle from Dollar arrived. Bad experience.

They charged me over 100 dollars in fees when I returned the car and they didn't notify me of it when I picked up the vehicle. Upon returning the vehicle, Nick at the counter said he'd get it taken care of so I got his number and called once I got back home and he is ignoring me and they charged it to my credit card. Outrageous! What a scam!!

Incredibly bad. Almost every car I found was damaged. Staff very rude. Stood in line for 10 minutes while 5 employees stood around and talked and laughed even after seeing people waiting. Eventually one decided to help me acting like I was putting them out. Upon returning the car the bus pulled away empty just as we walked up. Stood for half an hour in the cold waiting for another bus. I usually book with national and I don't know what I was thinking choosing dollar. It was cheaper and I thought I would save a few bucks. Never again.

Travel for business a lot and just need something to get me around. Booked online, arrived and there were only 3 service people to handle a very long line coming from the airport. Not the end of the world but disappointing they can't staff more personell during busier times.

-they must only have 1 or 2 shuttles because I saw other car rental shuttles coming 2-3 times before seeing one from Thrifty and Dollar
-compensate at least 20 mins for the shuttle to get to your terminal and additional time waiting for the shuttle

Customer Service: 1/5
-friendly but sneaky
-I know you can decline their auto insurance so your credit card can cover any accidental coverage but I was only given two options by the counter - basic or complete. So sneaky she did that to charge me an extra $50 ($11/day + tax)

Return: 1/5
-make sure you keep your most recent gas receipts
-the damage waiver increased to $17/day. Not pleased at all

It was a nightmare. Don't rent a car here. First of all they wanted to give me a smaller car than I had booked. Then they wanted to charge me more for the car I had already booked and paid!!! I really had to fight for my rights until I got a similar one. Then they wanted to charge me for silly things and didn't ask me if I agree with all the things I had to pay. I also thought everything is paid, but I was surprised what else I should pay for. Be careful before signing something. I rent the car for 31 days and paid a lot for that. Then I asked if I can bring back the car a couple of hours later because my flight was in the late afternoon. They charged me another full day instead of being customer friendly. I will never ever rent a car here again and I'm planning many other trips to the United States, but without Dollar Car rental!!!

Common scammers! We had the entire insurance package - full option. We spent a few hours there because you support us that we do not have any purchased insurance and we have to pay for the buyout additionally. We survived the nightmare! After a few days of travel, they ordered us to return the insurance so that they could give us back the money because it turned out that we had insurance and they wanted to charge us for additional costs! I do not recommend!

The car we rented, a Ford Explorer, was clean and in excellent condition. They offered a toddler car seat for free, which was important to us. The staff was friendly getting the car and returning it. We took their shuttle bus to and from the airport and the drivers were helpful and polite.

Like the other reviewers have said, there was a one hour line to get the rental even though I had a reservation. They claimed it was due to the fact that there were three large events in town but BS meter went off. Full-size car I got was an Altima with 40,000 miles on it and really bad wheel noise. Being generous with two stars because they were so cheap.

Thrifty & Dollar are quite a distance from airport. Between this and LA traffic you may end up adding an hour to get to airport. Service is so so, and the economy car I've got had balance problems. All in all I will not rent here again.

I booked the dollar car on the rental car and bought the full insurance provided by the rental car. After arriving at the store, the counter person said that they would add on some insurance and showed me a total of more than 340 knives without explanation. I refused directly. Later, he asked me to get a driver's license and said that I had a bad driving record before. The problem was that I had never rented a car from his house before. Say 340 knives, pick up the car if you pay, and do n t let me pick up the car if you do n t pay. After they negotiated with their manager, they learned that I really did not want to pay more money, and they refused to give me a car. Fortunately, renting a car after the incident refunded my rent. Very good customer service and value for money. My only gripe was it took 15 minutes waiting for the shuttle bus; during the same time there were many of the competitors shuttle buses picking up other passengers.

This place seems dedicated to providing the worst customer experience possible. They did not have the car I reserved, and only had worse cars available. I was handed over a car more than 10 years old, smelly, filthy. The shuttle to the airport only goes once every hour. This place is a joke and a disgrace. Never again.

Good. No hassles and the gps comes with unlimited wifi so most of us can chat with our friends most of the time. There was also a complementary ride going back to lax. Ross Romero was our driver so kind to drive us to the airport. Imagine we don't have to wait for our bus.

As rental companies go, Dollar is somewhat better than most. I've had far worse experiences at far more expensive companies. The truly challenging part with any of the LAX car rental companies is the transportation from the airport. Not having the companies at the air port is inconvenient but I can't fault the companies.
