Everything about the experience was surprisingly painless! Check in, car choices, inspection, and drop off were all quick and efficient which is generally not something I've experienced when renting a car. Great work Dollar!!

Sales agent lied and up sold me into a larger SUV than I wanted and then gave me a regular sized 4WD, without reducing my rental cost. Fortunately the woman at the boom gate spotted this and corrected his error. However the full rental amount had already been charged to my credit card, and I wasted a lot of time on the phone to Dollar customer service without getting a credit card release to be charged the correct amount. I recommend strongly against Dollar. Their customer service department is very lacking.

All right. But when I removed the car, I was forced to take out two weeks of 200 USD insurance and the car instead of 300 USD cost me 500 USD. The car was a zero km. Very good the vehicle. Since they did not have the same one they had hired, they gave me a better one.

The worst shuttle service at LAX. There are much better choices for the same rates. They are consistantly bad. It can take you an hour to get to the center or worse back to the airport. It gas been this way for the last 5 rentals. AVOID THEM

Customer service was good, shuttle service is not the best since it runs every 20 minutes compared to hertz or enterprise. Car was clean, check in and check out process was extremely easy. I would definitely use dollar rent a car again.

They advertise that they made it easy to use your debit card. That's BULLSH*T. I had a horrible time trying to rent a car. I was there for almost 4hrs trying to get a car. 1st Agent I spoke to did not pay attention to the time and date when I made the reservation. He even ask me when did I booked the car. He processed the rental then my bank denied the transaction. After I spoke with my bank I went back to the 1st Agent then he tell me that he need to clock out cause the company don't pay for overtime. He directed me to see another agent so I did. The 2nd agent did the same thing and didn't look at the time and date of the reservation and I wasn't aware about the 24hr policy. So she started to process the transaction again it got denied. I step out and called my bank again. It's about 3AM. My stress level is high my frustration is over the top with my bank and the rental place. I decided to move to the 3rd agent. I gave her my license and Debit card she pulls up the reservation. She tells me Sorry sir I can't rent you a car. Why, I asked she said that if you are using a debit card need to wait 24hrs. So I left came back after 24hrs. I was still denied of a car. The problem is that the card system they are using is out dated. They can't even manually input your card. The Agent that tried to help me today was lazy. I was asking for a camaro he said it was sold out but heard from another agent that there a lot. I don't recommend you to come here. Two thumbs down for me.

Awful. They tell you that you dont have to fill it up and that they only charge you for the fuel you use at $3.70 a gallon. Then hit you with a fuel service charge which is around $60. The clerk who I got my car from said several times that I would only be billed for the fuel I used because I asked him so I was certain. Then I get hit with this BS charge. When I called they said that it's in the contract and would take no responsibility for their rep lying about it. Shady way to make a few extra bucks.

Avoid at all costs rent a car at this location. We already came from Brazil with the insurance of the car paid and they forced us to make a new insurance here, saying that it was obligatory and that we could not leave with the car without p insurance that they wanted to add. At the end of the day we ended up hiring unnecessary insurance. We are extremely dissatisfied.

Rip off. I reserved a car online but when I got to the counter at L.A. airport the actual rental price was considerably higher. The attendant would not honor the price I reserved. He had no explanation as to WHY he was charging me so much more. Unfortunately I was in a rush and couldn't stand in another line for half an hour at one of the other rental car companies. I complained to the manager. He said he would upgrade me to a better car, but I ended up in a car almost identical to the first one. Never again.

Very long lines, not enough staff to handle volume...

Very long lines, not enough staff to handle volume. Not my first visit, made the mistake twice

I typically don't complain and I understand there are always exceptions, but my experience renting with you at this location has been the worst and I'm a frequent traveller.

I experienced 3 major disappointments:
1. Upon arrival to the rental facility, I experienced a line out the door. Typically a line is expected, and I had experienced a very similar line 2 weeks back, but the excuse for the last time was high volume. (all at the same location) I would expect that an organisation of your caliber would notice this as an issue and action some sort of solution. To summarize, I waited for 3 hours before receiving my vehicle. Only Two employees were present during what seemed to be peak hours.
2. My booking reservation labelled a compact car and was depicted as a Ford Focus. While I understand that the depicted vehicle is not always available, I would expect that a comparable car would be as a replacement. This was not the case, your classification system labels a Mitsubishi Mirage in the same category as a Focus (compact) while the EPA labels the Mirage as a - SUB compact. In addition, a Mitsubishi Mirage has 3 cylinders as opposed to the Ford Focus with 4. Does that mean i can leave off a figure from my payment from ~$180 to $18? These two vehicles side by side have vast differences related to interior volume and storage. It is extremely dissatisfying to have this as the result of my waiting 3 hours, I did not have the energy to return to the line after finding out this disparity to complain about my vehicle, not to mention cutting in front of the others that had been there with me for 3 hours.
3. I was told by the rental agent at the counter "vehicle must be re-fuelled within a 10 mile radius", this is a great procedure should it actually be enforced. I was pleasantly surprised shortly after setting off with the incorrect sized (mislabelled vehicle classification) vehicle that my fuel gauge had dropped one bar from full, illustrating that the vehicle was not indeed full as requested of myself upon return.

Overall this experience is highly unacceptable; I hope that your company re-evaluates its vehicle classifications and rental office location efficiency. I would also appreciate a refund for booking a compact over a sub-compact or economy vehicle, as by the EPA standards I have in effect received a sub-compact with a less than full fuel tank.

one star is too high. The staff were apathetic or rude. The service was terrible. The shuttle to/from airport was ea. 30 minutes at best. I would say for every 6-7 other rental car shuttles, one Dollar/Thrifty bus. Not an exaggeration. at least 6-7 Budget/Avis and Enterprise went by while waiting for this shuttle. The worst was in the early morning after dropping the car and needing to get to the airport to catch flight, bus was running with no driver for 30 minutes. The only driver was having his lunch break. When he did finally show up, he gets on the bus and says very rudely to two men, who are clearly foreign and have accents. "can you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth". They said yes, then he asked us all what airline. The interaction with the two men only got worse and more rude. He felt it also necessary to comment on how pretty my daughter and I were, which also annoyed me. Why do such men feel they have a right to comment on our physical appearance??? The other services, cars, confirmations, rental agreements, etc were terrible, but too long to tell. Anyway, Dollar is an abomination and I would never ever recommend anyone ever use this company. Budget and Avis are far, far more professional and offer much better service.

Never contact this office! The rental price is considered not clear how, and then still loot additionally removed without a refund. When disassembling, managers are smiling and dull, and of course they don t decide what!

The staff tried to sell me all sorts of things on top of my order. Insurance of 45/day and upgrades which will cost me additional 800. After all no s from my side they showed me for 1500 charge on my credit card but then I just discovered that my credit card has been deducted for 2000 plus. Totally rip off and rude staff. Also very far from LAX.

Not the best experience I've had with a rental company but was not the worst. Bus pickup at LAX was good considering it's LAX. Since Dollar and Thrifty share pickup bus, we were second stop. There was nobody at express office and after waiting 5 min in the sun, went inside. I noted not many cars in lot. After getting in regular line, took 20 min to get to an agent. I got my paperwork done smooth though usual upsale on pre pay gas and insurance which I had already indicated in reservation I didn't want. Went back outside, agent took paperwork and inform me no midsize, wait inside. Some 30 min later another agent asked if needed something. She went back out after I told her I was waiting for car. She return with news that outside agent didnt have paperwork and asked if I had done it. I went to doorway, pointed at the agent that took paperwork. Brief discussion between two and I was taken to express desk to do paperwork again. She informed I was going to get an upgrade for the mixup, a midsize. Wait thats what I had...no you rented a compact. I was now thinking "just get me a car". Waited 10 min and was on way out. Whole process from pickup to driving out 1 hr 40m...way too long. Car is nice..15,000 only it. I will think again with going with least cost rental company, never had this with budget or avis.

Car was good. Sales employee sold us a toll scheme for USD 13 a day, where there are almost no tollways in California. Scandulous marketing and sales practices. Complaining resulted in bureaucratic arguments only.

THEY ARE STEALING CUSTOMER'S MONEY!!!!!

THEY ARE STEALING CUSTOMER'S MONEY!!!!!

We arrived there around 8.00 AM. After waiting a lot in the line I showed my booking, (where my total amount was $600). They ignored it, and handled us as brand new customers. The woman at the desk charged me with all the insurances, and the total amount became $1000. Then I slowly explained her several times that my Bank provides me every international insurances they wanted to give me. And when I asked why they didn't show it on the previous reservation confirmation, they said "it says: plus additional taxes and insurances." In fact I read every single paper after that, and there isn't such a line... And when she agreed, that by my credit card I have insurances, she "reduced" the amount and ordered me to press AGREE everywhere. At that point we were in 1.5-hour late. Then that woman made me to sign on the screen. The new total amount was $898. They ensured me that they won't touch my money till I return the car. I really had to leave, so I said goodbye and left from the office. Later, I called my bank and they said the money is still on my account, but it's reserved for Dollar. They cannot do anything, since I signed those papers, and the only solution is if I disable my card. Of course, I couldn't do that, because I used for other bookings as well. I don't know yet what I'm going to do after this point, but I know, that I will never rent a car from Dollar again. (I'm a bit mad at myself because I could have rented a car with Hertz or Enterprise as always....)

To sum it up, ATTENTION EVERYONE, THEY ARE EVIL PEOPLE

Choose one of the other providers at the air port to rent your car. Their incompetence resulted in them double charging me for the rental despite me confirming with the agent that they would not. Also, my credit card was frozen after they rang through the transaction as my bank flagged them for suspicious behavior.

The price of the car was excellent but the transfers back and forth to the airport left much to be desired. It took more than 40 minutes to get a bus for the 5 minute trip back to the terminal at LAX. If you are in Los Angeles and rent from Dollar, you would do better hiring an Uber to get back to the airport after returning your rental.

It should have been cheaper than I actually paid for. Even though the car was what they had promised, a bit far from the airport and crowded. I'm not sure if I'd rent with them again. One star is more than they deserve.

WARNING! Landed at LAX after a 19 hrs flight , tired and sleepy but told that the car I booked was unavailable and persuaded to upgrade to a much bigger car. Added another insurance and road side assistance that was not explained to me during registration. Feel totally cheated in the experience.

Using all kinds of marketing techniques requires you to purchase more. If you don t see the signature clearly, you will have to pay more than 300 dollars. No matter how cheap you rent on the rent a car website, you will be added a bunch of things here. Refusal of the clerk will make his face and tone change drastically in a second, and he will never rent this place again.

Horrible management and processes. While the shuttle was ok and the initial check in line was not too bad (20 mins), I then had to stand in the parking lot waiting with about 30 other customers for a car to be made ready. They were washing cars and driving them over to the waiting customers about 1 every 15 minutes. I waited for about 2 hours for a car. Totally unacceptable.

TERRIBLE!

TERRIBLE!

We were told that a fuel policy to save us from having to fill gas at the last minute would be a good idea (the agent described it as a "just if you need it" policy where the fuel was actually cheaper than buying gas yourself).

The customer service agent's description concealed critical information (i.e., that we were paying for a full tank of gas that could not be refunded even if we returned our rental car with a full tank of gas, which we did).

The agent also concealed the fact that there was a gas station 100 feet from the rental location.

I'm aware from reading other reviews that Hertz gives a commission to agents who get people to sign up for the FPO by providing a false description of the policy. Coupled with the fact that no paperwork is handed out explaining the policy, Hertz is ripe for a class action lawsuit (I'm looking for others to join me in filing a lawsuit against them).

Reading through the reviews I was prepared for long lines and long waits but this was not my experience. I suspect that management has realized they had a problem and were actively attempting to correct it. There was a supervising manager on site clearly trying to make things move along. The line was long -- LAX is, after all, a very busy airport and this was noon on Sunday. However there were at least 5 agents at the counter and I was able to clear the paperwork and drive away with the car in probably 15 or 20 minutes total time. On return I was taken care of immediately and lucked out that the airport shuttle was waiting (which was a very pleasant experience -- driver very courteous). I must have spent less than 10 minutes on the return portion and was on my way to the airport quickly. As car rental experiences go this was on par or even slightly better. The staff were courteous and seemed to be trying to correct their negative image. This was a pre-paid rental so I was afraid I was just stuck, but given this recent experience I'd rent from them again.

Do not go here!!! Okay the company may be great but this branch is the worst it literally ruined my whole America trip.
Here s to list a few problem me and my Partner had. We hired a mid size SUV. Nothing fancy

1. When booking the car we payed $700~ for 2 weeks. With confirmation saying we will need to only pay for taxes when onsite.
- lies. They took another $1000!!! On top of the 700 with out telling us!
-we tried getting the rep to explain where all these charges are coming from and she said it s nothing it s all standard and they are just holding it until we return the car. (Can you guess, they did not)
- she kept avoiding all our questions and kept trying to push us along

2. The car we got broke down and they made us drive 250 miles the opposite direction to where we were heading to swap.
- promise to reimburse the fuel (which they also did not)

3. Found out we had the wrong to car to start! We had a car that was a lower class!!!
- so we were paying near double of what we got.

4. When returning the vehicle I went to speak the Area manager to which he apologised and said he will fix it all. He then asked my phone and went onto their website and proceeds to write the feedback and review HIMSELF!! I asked what he was doing and he mumbled under his breath gave himself top rating and gave me my phone back.... I caught him and he still had the audacity to continue and smile right back at me. In saying he did remove $50 of the $1700 dollar bill.... great. I then started to raise my voice out of frustration and they had to peacefully escort me me out.

Oh and also they tried pinning damages to the car which was done prior to us. Proof? Took a photo of it before hand. Damages were nothing small either. They clearly knew about it. Photo of damage posted

TLDR- payed $1700 for a mid size car for two weeks. With plenty of troubles behind it and even getting downgraded car without even knowing and also no explanation why after countless attempts.

The wait to catch a bus to get to the place was awful. We waited over 30 minutes and the bus was completely packed. We cramed in and it was super hot and uncomfortable standing on the ride.

Although the price is low and the reception and other procedures are good, there are few car choices that matter. He explained that he had borrowed it around 12 o'clock, but he was a dodge on the net, but he had only rented one Nissan. Even so, people who have completed procedures afterwards come one after another and the car disappears more and more, so it is better to borrow early in the morning? I don't hate Nissan because I'm Japanese, but I'm sorry I came to America.

If you want to pick up your car quickly, don't rent a car from them. - It took me about 1 hours to get the rental car and drive out.

If you want to go to airport quickly, don't rent a car from them. - I saw more than five enterprise shuttles passed by before I saw their shuttle.

Only the low price deserves the two star.

I definitely can not confirm the many negative reviews. The shuttle bus from the airport was immediately recognizable (tip: it is dollar on it). The handling went smoothly, Thursday evening at 1800 no waiting time, only a question for additional insurance or car update, which we answered with "Thank you No", and then the keys were handed out. The car was in perfect condition, there were no problems. The return worked even faster than the decrease and the $ 200 deposit was already transferred the next day. Expectations according to Google rating significantly exceeded, thank you and 5 stars.

You know when you go to a restaurant and the server asks you sparkling or still; and the right answer is tap? This place will do this to you with their non-mandatory insurance options. Staff are cunning and their rates are all over the place. Remember to check your rates on all of the receipts. I was given three and each one had a different rate on it, each charging more and more. Do not recommend renting here.

Upon entering the building, we were greeted with dead stares. Not one good morning or hello was said. They just stared, as if they did not know how to do their job. We went up to the guy that was busy chattering with his coworkers and asked for our car, we were promised a Jeep Cherokee but were told to get a car from the suv lane. Once we went outside we only saw one car. That car was a tiny Kia Sportage. We went inside and asked where the Jeep that was promised, and the guy said in a rude manner, the cars you see is what you get . We told him we were promised a Jeep and he said, NO, it says or similar vehicle at the bottom . After going back and forth with the rude inconsiderate man. We just cut our losses and took the car Because we were running late to a wedding. But overall I do not recommend getting your car from here. There are plenty rental car places with FAR better people, service and cars. Definitely first and last time ever renting with Dollar.
