The Hotel was clean, friendly, and provided excellent service. Would have preferred the location to be better.
It was ok for the location since we were going to a show at Soldier Field. Parking is not obvious and they really should have someone in the front letting people know where they can go to park. The bar that is connected to it was just ok...we ended up leaving the restaurant the next morning when we were seated and had to wait a really long time and no one even got our drink order. Very poorly ran. So if you really just need a bed to sleep in and don't expect anything else nice...sure, go there..
Bad service. Bad communication and took more money than it was suppose
I was told I would get a 50% refund when we had to cancel our trip due to Covid-19, however last minute the manager Regina decided she would not ok it and contacted Priceline back and told them to take my 50% back. So we paid for a hotel we never stayed at due to a global pandemic! Horrible way to get return patrons when all this is over.
Free parking but not free breakfast and the cafeteria don't have a lot of options the room wasn't bad .
the lady in the front desk need to learn how to give guest some attention and look at them while she's talking to them . We had to chang the room three times because of different problems.
Nice hotel but not much around it. Secured parking is a huge plus.
Stayed 3 nights during visit to attend a tradeshow at McCormick center. There is no store or restaurant around at all. Restaurant and gift shop are closed all time. McCormick center is over 20 minutes fairly long walk. China town is about 15 minutes walk. The hotel building deco is outdated but kept clean. It is fairly good location for tradeshow attendee but for tourists.
Really good place, clean, good environment and very good service.
Lovely hotel...wonderful staff...clean big rooms...highly recommend
Reasonably priced hotel in Chicago, close to McCormick center. The bathrooms have large tubs and everything is clean.
I've had the pleasure of staying at the Chicago South Loop Hotel several times in the last couple of years, and it's always a fantastic stay! I get really stressed trying to find parking whenever I stay in a big city, but this hotel has several parking areas on-site that alleviate that stress for me. The rooms have been spacious and immaculate each time I've stayed here, which is important considering I usually travel with a group. There's a great cafe on the ground floor of this hotel with a friendly staff that serves many great breakfast options, everything made to order. If you're staying in the city be sure to check this place out!
The Chicago South Loop Hotel was conveniently located near the McCormick Convention Center. The room I stayed in was clean and spacious. They offered premium cable channels free WiFi Business Center they had a small Cafe we could get breakfast. Overall I would recommend staying there if you were in Chicago
Terrible all around. Their customer service is absolutely awful. I called them to confirm and let them know I d be paying in cash, they hung up twice before placing me on hold for 30 minutes. We arrived to the hotel when they informed us they had downgraded our room because we were paying in cash. We get to the room and it smelled awful. We informed the front desk of the smell and they offered to have someone spray the room. The soap and shampoo dispensers in the room were empty. The bathroom doors are broken and does not close.
This hotel is all around awful. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone.
This hotel refuses to offer refunds during a global pandemic to patrons that are consistently exposed to Covid-19 and work within the general public on a daily basis.
Great hotel, these people were so helpful, they helped me get to everywhere I needed to go. Thank you!
First and foremost, do NOT order from the "Order Inn" room service menu. I cannot stress this enough. It's an outside service and it sucks. The food is mediocre at best, overpriced, and a large cheese pizza took over 90 minutes to arrive!! 3 calls to find my pizza, and the manager wouldn't even talk to me and basically blew me off to "customer service". For my "inconvenience", they offered a gift certificate, which never arrived, so add one more smack in the face. Absolutely infuriating. Learn from my mistake.
That said, there's a nice little food boutique on the first floor, very good food and prices and wonderful people running it, go down and support them. After hours, use DoorDash or the front desk has a list of places that delivery. Again, do NOT use the "Order Inn" room service!! The hotel should honestly remove that option and just put the list of restaurants that deliver in the room instead, their customers would be much better served.
The room was very nice and spacious, clean and comfortable, excellent value. The location is great for McCormick place, only about 1.2 miles by foot or 5 minutes by Uber. Free parking, definitely something to take advantage of in Chicago! The front desk staff was helpful and overall awesome. It also sits near the tracks so you'll get some occassional train noise. Keep in mind that it's an older hotel that has been upgraded, there a few minor issues but definitely a hotel I'll be using in the future.
Ok but very, very cold in the building and hall ways
Unfortunately they do not serve breakfast, but the accommodations are great.
I have stayed in hotels all over north america and I can easily say this hotel is underrated. Excellent service, great rooms, free parking, easy access to downtown, quiet and clean neighborhood, I honestly can't wait to stay again on my next trip to the windy city.
I don t know how we never stayed here before. The lobby is clean and sleek and the service was great. The room was enormous. It had a comfy living room area, two large queen beds, a great work space, and a super clean bathroom with a large tub. Can t wait to come back to Chicago. Would highly recommend!!!
Stay was nice! Got good deal and staff helped to switch to double bed with out extra cost while we booked single queen bed room.
The last time I was here every thing was perfect .but tonight I'm having a nightmare. My wife and booked our room online before we got to there. Once there somw old lady called Diane was our receptionist. She took 50 years to end a phone call she was handling. Finally when did he hung up she took another 50 year to check is in . She clearly didn't have a clue what she was doing..Fast forward to the part we get the room. All the vending machines are out of order. No way to get a drink. And only floor 2 ice machine is working.we get in our room and get the call from Diane at 3am explaining us that our card did not get charged the $ 100 deposit fee. Which was impossible since our bank app was showing the opposite. Now we are not sleepy no more after speaking to Diane for another 50 years. We go back in our room remember Diane told us from the beginning that there was no TV working. The wifi is not there greatest either.
What a night!!!!
The location is great if you're heading to McCormick place. I was also surprised that they have a shuttle that also goes to McCormick place. There is a restaurant and bar, but they were closed for renovations. Rooms are nice and spacious and I particularly like the bathrooms, but the light switch in my room wasn't attached to anything so I had to click on lamps to get lights, which one lamp was wobbly and the one on the night stand was broken and the fan in the bathroom keep running. I could not turn it off. Otherwise the staff is friendly; they did let me check in early, and the rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable.
We loved this hotel! Big, Clean, and quiet rooms with nice desk attendants. Wish there was a restaurant in the hotel (there is a cafe but only until 2 pm).
Very disappointed with this hotel. I never even stayed. I was searching online for reservations on July 8 at 3:22pm from my home in New Hampshire and somehow a reservation was processed for that same day. Obviously I cannot be in Chicago from NH at that hour of the day to stay at the hotel. You all charged my account $110.35. When I called to find out what happened, because I DID NOT MAKE RESERVATIONS, I was told "too bad, it went through and because you did not cancel we charged your account." How would I even know that I had to cancel, because I did not process the reservation. You all just ripped me off $110. Thanks for nothing. I actually am planning a trip to Chicago in September, which is why I was searching for a hotel, but I can assure you I will not be staying with you!!
Very clean and nice. Professional staff. Definitely a place I would visit again!
I enjoyed staying at this hotel. It was very classy. The public computers were a nice feature.
Amazing hotel! Staff is super friendly and accommodating! Bathtub is super deep and relaxing in the bathroom! Highly recommended to stay here for any needs you may have. Make sure to check out jazz night too on Sundays!
The location and the price good. Friendly welcome and spacious rooms with nice decoration.
The most part it was good hotel with adequate amenities but they do not provide conditioner just conditioning shampoo. Also on the last day, ice found a roach hanging out in the bathroom
The view of the city was wonderful. Bed comfortable. Loved the pictures other wall. Staff was friendly.
Needs more amenities...No pool no spa no service... Smallest rooms ever
Excellent experience the front desk clerk "Yolanda" was great and very pleasant to work with.
Friendly staff, private parking, clean rooms, and close to public transit. Did I mention it's cheap compared to what's around and well taken care of.
Great front desk. More of a classsic atmosphere. Good location for South Chicago.
The bar was nice with a calm ambience. Overall it seems like a place I would stay.
Hotel is clean, modern, and have spacious rooms. Very comfortable beds! Wonderful restaurant and bar! Located close to the action but affordable. Plus free on site parking! Highly recommend!
Staff is lovely, cafe is great for quick breakfast, very close to everything we wanted to see. The hotel seems safe and pretty well maintained for the most part, its clean. The beds are really hard but I love the pillows. There is not much sound proofing from the outside, I travel with a white noise machine and was glad. That stopped us from hearing the traffic. The bathtubs are huge, the prices are quite reasonable.
I requested towels and never received them after speaking to regina at the front desk. Besides that this was a bare essentials hotel with little to no commodities. Its silver lining was its locale to white Sox stadium and cab service literally across the street.
It is an old hotel that needs some repairs, but near the McCormick
Nice hotel sticks out beautifully in that part of town.
Friendly staff. Great hotel with nice rooms. A bit from the city centre. Short walk to train.
This hotel was perfect for our need: a place to crash after all 4 days of Lollapalooza. We chose this hotel specifically because it was the cheapest decent-looking hotel, closest to Grant Park. It was about an hour walk to GP, bus and train stations were nearby too (we just like to see the city, and compared to all the walking we did this was nothing).
I was totally satisfied with my stay. However, I'm not a very picky traveller so here are some things to consider if you ARE a picky traveller:
-You can definitely hear noises from the train and nearby hospital. (If you're one to complain about this, I suggest not staying in the city.)
-No breakfast offered.
-TV/remote were kind of old and didn't work great.
-THE PILLOWS ARE HUGE. (Some people like this, not me. I'll bring my own next time.)
-Tub and toilet were also huge. (Again, some may like this but I stubbed my toe getting into the shower and my feet couldn't touch the floor while on the toilet, lol)
-Mini-fridge in room, but no microwave :(
-Only 2-in-1 shampoo and shower gel offered as bathroom amenities.
-Housekeeping was spotty. I'm seeing this as a common theme in reviews everywhere. Two of the days we stayed, we left the "do not disturb" sign on our door because we hadn't made much of a mess, and didn't need clean sheets or towels. The next two days, we removed our sign when we left for the day, between 10:30 and 11 am. Nobody cleaned our room. Since our room wasn't cleaned, we had to get coffee, towels, and a garbage bag from the front desk to tidy up ourselves. Again, not a huge deal to me, but some people may be upset with this (a guy at the front desk certainly was).
-Some Nervous Nellies might not feel safe walking around this neighborhood but I never felt uncomfortable, and rather enjoyed my walk through Chinatown to get to a Walgreens.
So if none of that makes you write this place off, here are some upsides:
-FREE PARKING! And you can park before you check in :)
-Free wifi
-Easy to find (both on initial arrival and when Ubering)
-Comfy bed
-Sarpino's! (Late-night free delivery of okay food)
Overall, a pretty nice stay. Wasn't expecting high-end luxury, and didn't pay a high-end price. If you're a reasonable person looking for a reasonable place to sleep after a full day of Chicago adventures, South Loop Hotel is for you.
I liked the rooms and the service. I also like the bar downstairs...nice and cozy! Will come again!
Fairly inexpensive place to stay with reasonable access to the city via public transportation. Great location to stay if you're heading to a White Sox game!
Hotel itself was great. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The loud drunk guests smoking weed in the parking lots and drinking in the hallways after 12 was not good. Call desk though and they took care of the noise. The area around the hotel is kinda rundown. The hotel like I said though pretty good. Soft pillows but found bed a little stiff.
Cheap hotel if you're checking out a concert at Northerly Island.
Clean but the area looks unsafe and dirty but it's actually ok. Weird ain't it
I really expected and hoped to love this place, sadly my experience was subpar.
Arrived to check in at 3:15PM and was told by Joe at reception that my room wasn t ready and to come back in 20-30 minutes(Check in started at 3PM). He assured me the room I paid for would be ready and housekeeping was finishing up. That has never happened to me at any hotel but Joe was nice & apologetic and although I was on a very tight schedule and needed to set up the room to surprise my daughter for her birthday, I left and said I would be back in a few hours.
After our outing we finally made it back. This time I had my two daughters & two nieces with me and it was now 10:30 PM. I explained to Yolanda, who was now at reception that my room wasn t ready earlier and needed to check in. Yolanda explained to me that not only was the room not ready, it was not available. I was completely disappointed. The only one room she said was available was a downgrade and I no longer had the space that I needed and paid for while booking. She also told me that I could get a refund and go somewhere else. She was respectful and apologetic. Again, I ve stayed any many hotels in many locations and this has never happened. (There was conflicting information about the form of payments for deposits.)Of course I wasn t going to try and find a hotel at 10:30PM on a Friday.
Got to the room, it s hot and stinky. It s summertime and the temperature has been in the 80s at night. So I try to get a refreshment from the vending machine and everything is pretty much sold out, no ice in the machine either.
No room for me so I have to sleep on the floor. What a nightmare. I really wish I would ve shared the happy, comfortable experience that other reviews mentioned. Sadly, we are left feeling quite ripped off. The best part is the staff.
The Chicago South Loop Hotel is a fantastic place to stay when in Chicago. Rooms were clean and very spacious, beds were comfortable and well maintained, and the staff was very helpful. The cafe in the lobby is a great way to start your day too. I would highly recommend the Chicago South Loop Hotel to anyone traveling to the Windy City.
I stayed at this hotel in April 2019. I cancelled my room 1 week before because it was looking like my injured granddaughter was not going to be able to play at a volleyball tournament at the McCormick center. I called back the next day to get my room back because her doctor released her to play. The hotel charged me $309 dollars to cancel my room even though I had called the next day to take my room back. Very very poor business. The room was dirty. I didn t get maid service the second day as they had only 1 maid for 2 floors. Then there was a fight outside the hotel while we were staying there as it is not in the best part of town. They also had charged my credit card 5 times before I even stayed there 2 weeks prior and come to find out I was being charged for other guest deposits. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!
This place is the worst I've stayed in many hotels in my time as a business traveler and this place is the pits ......
Rooms were great. Driving proximity to Chinatown and downtown also great. I thought breakfast room over priced. Dim sum was close by though.
Amazing room, great service. Also very close to the train.
Rooms were great, staff was friendly. Downside that it's impossible to get the windows to not ket light in starting at 5am and the A/C is incredibly loud and also loses its effectiveness during the day when the sun is out.
Very nice hotel at the best location possible close to the downtown!
Overall quality hotel for price, but no continental breakfast.
This was my second stay at the Chicago South Loop - it's a great hotel. The staff are really nice, parking is easy, and the rooms are big and clean. Great location too: it's really close to Chinatown, and to Pilsen, a really cool neighbourhood full of cool bars and restaurants.
Very clean rooms, very friendly staff great location close to everything in the city.
Don't waste your money. They stole my bags out of my room with the door close. After talking to management they told me tough luck that probably I left the door open and therefore it was my fault. They do not have cameras other than the lobby
Nice, clean place to stay. Just needs a restaurant or two, either on the property or nearby.
We rented a room from here and before we told them we wanted the room if they had a swimming pool and a hot tub and when we got here and asked they said no. They lied!! And there was aunts in the hotel room!! And we asked for directions to the navy peri and they gave us false directions twice. And they were rude. The elevator stopped working had go use the stairs the whole time we were in the hotel. Then they locked the stairs so we had to take the long route to get to our room
It was decent everyday the makes would clean the rooms and bring New towels and take out the trash and overall it was a good experience all in all.
