The expanded parking solves a major complaint from my last stay here, having to park several blocks away previously detracted from my experience, but this new setup goes a long way to solving my issues with the hotel. Now it's even easier to recommend a stay here when visiting Chicago!

Dusty and old feeling yet this hotel isn't old. This hotel has a great price considering its location and compared too hotels in the area. Amenities listed on the website were closed or didn't exist.for example the gift shop was there but closed during our entire stay, salon doesn't exist. Resturant doesn't exist. It's a China town trick. If this hotel was honest with their advertising then I would have given it 5 stars. The good: Close to downtown, convention center, China Town, and the best feature FREE GATED PARKING! The bad: Lies on the website, dusty rooms, slow elevators, poor customer service and the train WILL wake you up at all hours of the night!

A C grade hotel compared to many other hotels. Room carpets very old. No holding bars in bath tub. No laundry bags. They charge your credit card 100 dollars for your visit as damages for future claim. Of course the temporary charge is put back. Water is 2 dollars

The location for business at McCormick center is ideal and about a mile away from the South Loop neighborhood.
For a Chicago hotel this is subpar to say the least. There were a few positives such as location, parking, big room- but the overall quality did not meet expectations. I don t know how all these recent reviews say the upgrades were great, I didn t notice any upgrades . Details like dirty light switches that look like they ve never been even wiped and dirty hallways and elevators were the least of my concern. Not even two blocks down the road, a few locals were throwing firecrackers at cars and there were police officers driving by and on foot looking for the culprits. Not the safest location for a stroll. Overall if you re staying here for business at McCormick it s adequate. Having lived in Chicago in the past and visiting often, this is not a hotel for a leisurely stay.

Was given the wrong room. Went back to the front desk only to be told that the room I was given was the only one left despite having booked 3 weeks in advance. The room I booked was the best they has and was given a handicapped room half the size. Went back to ask if they had any non handicapped rooms left only to be told again they had no rooms left and were sold out. Wasn't until I asked for talk to a manager that the room I originally booked magically became available despite having been told moments before they were all booked. Manager was less than sincere in apology. Free parking was a plus once I got the room I paid for it was alright. Service left something to be desired though.

I called Sept 5 to cancel my reservation. The lady told me that I wouldn't be charged for the room. While in Chicago this week I just happened to see that I was charged for Friday September 23rd. I called and asked why they said that I never called to cancel. But I know that I called to cancel. She asked me if I remembered who I called. I didn't because I was at work when I cancelled the reservations. Come to find out I called their transportation number and not once did the lady who told me that my reservation was cancelled tell me that they were the transportation number and not the place too cancel reservations. I found this out when I called them back Saturday September 24 to ask why no one cancelled my reservation. The lady said that many people have been calliing to cancel with them getting the numbers mixed up. As I told her it would have been nice to know that ahead of time because I was charged for a night when I didn't even stat at the hotel. Lesson learned on my part, but if you do cancel make sure that you get all the info and that you're talking to the right person.

Half and half:
Positive part: hotel is clean, rooms are wide and staff is very friendly. Car park is wide and free. Only 10 minutes walk to chinatown and McCormick.
Negative part: restaurant is closed (and has almost none nearby). Has a small bar with only 3 tables, definitely not enough for all guests, so one have short choices for having breakfast.

The hotel is very clean and has everything you need at an affordable price. For work is perfect, because it is a few minutes from McCormick place ($ 7 by taxi, which according to our experience was cheaper than Uber for conventions). To vacation, you have to be careful because it's between $ 15 and $ 25 (One way Uber) of the action, so you should consider this cost when comparing hotel prices.

The Chicago South Loop Hotel offers a unique and delightful experience. This hotel is a blast from the past in all the best ways. The south Loop hotel offers a homey retro experience. The lobby is very comfortable with a spacious layout of nice leather couches and ample lounging areas. Retro jazz art is featured all throughout the hotel to accompany the old school but modern feel of the south loop. The front desk is kind and offers an array of snacks and beverages. The housekeeping staff was exceptionally nice and attentive.
The room was incredibly spacious with two queen sized beds and two arm chairs with a coffee table. The bathroom was large with nice shower/tub combo equipped with hair care and body wash dispensers. The South Loop also offers a hair Solon, a cafe restaurant and a business center with several computers and printers/copy machines. the fitness center is nice offering free weights, a multi gym and treadmills and ellipticals. The Chicago South Loop hotel is a wonderful and retro experience with all the modern accommodations you desire.

Nice location - friendly and helpful staff - great rooms with solid showers
We were very excited to book this hotel in Chicago. Upon check-in, the staff was attentive and helpful, going out of their way to make guests feel welcome. The location worked very well for us--it was a very nice walk (and even quicker drive) to a super beach off Lake Michigan (which we took advantage of right away) and close to pretty much all the things you want to do in Chicago. We were uncertain how parking would be (we have gear in our car) but were super relieved when they gave us a parking pass to a gate-locked parking lot in back. Major plus.
The rooms were nice--quiet with big beds, clean and the best part...a shower with amazing water pressure! There was also a giant tub, which we took advantage of as well. Both things that are hard to find in most hotels this price. The TV, fridge and air conditioner all passed the test too so the room really fit all of our needs.
We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in Chicago and recommend it to friends/family.

Nice hotel, convenient to the UC Hospital campus. I believe it also relatively near many tourist and visitor attractions, including Hyde Park, the Shedd Aquarium, etc. The hotel was clean and recently updated - nice linens, clean and modern carpet, etc. My room faced the street and did have some noise from the nearby train, but nothing really disruptive. The room was spacious, clean, and offered a ton of natural light from three windows. Stayed here as a business traveler and would do so again.

Too expensive for this level. Is located near train line, very noisy, difficult.to sleep. Pillows are too high, Rooms are just sufficient. No breakfast included and place where have breakfast very little. Not a good experience.
I'm not sure if this is a hotel or a high-concept ...
I'm not sure if this is a hotel or a high-concept performance art piece whose goal is to humiliate me. I called to find out the rate for a room and sat on hold for 30 minutes. Seems like it would have been an easy enough question to answer for an actual hotel, right? If they were real then certainly they could tell me their actual room rates, right?
Its a very interesting business model to show no interest whatsoever in a potential customer. Wild stuff. If their goal was to make me feel like an idiot for sitting on hold for so long then I guess they can mark me as mission accomplished.
I can't say that I've ever been there but if it is real then I have no reason to believe it isn't a nice place. I'm sure the rooms are clean and orderly, the staff is probably informed and friendly. But I am convinced that it doesn't actually exist. I called a number that goes straight to one guy doing multiple voices, pretending to juggle me around, just to see how long it takes before I give up. A determined part of me wanted to push it to an hour but to what end? To see if he got so frustrated that I was occupying his line for so long? So that I could win? Am I really that proud? No. No I am not. I admit defeat, honorably, at the hands of a master prankster who convinced me with a realistically designed website that he had an actual hotel.

The people who work here were nice. They were good with turn down service. The drinks at their bar were well priced. My only knock is having to ask for extra face rags. Two people should get more two rags a piece. That and their "private" lot gate wasn't properly functioning when I arrived (they have a gated and more open lot; must have their parking pass to park in either). All good other than.

I feel I got worth of my money spent staying at this hotel. The hotel, its staff, ambience, everything was exceptional. I was especially very happy (and had peace of mind during my trip) with having my car parked on-site and though it was little hard to find a spot if you got back late from downtown, you could safely park it on adjacent street. The location was convenient enough to ride the CTA to and fro and nearby Chinatown has a few great places to grab a quick bite.

The room was nice and roomy. Great shower head. The beds were comfortable. The staff was friendly. The carpet in the room was a little sticky, like a previous guest spilled a beer and it didn't get cleaned up completely. The lobby and elevator smell sickly sweet, like an air freshener in Grandma's bathroom. It's overwhelming. I can't overstate how much it smells. My wife and I were trying our best to hold our breath walking to the room. It made my wife ask, "what smell do you think they're trying to cover up?" Seriously, they need to dial it back. Everything else is good, though. I'd probably stay here again if it stays more on the budget end of the spectrum price-wise relative to other Chicago hotels.

Highly recommend this place because it has FREE PARKING!!!
We wanted a hotel with free parking near downtown Chicago because then we could just take the transit, bike, or uber to places which would be cheaper than spending $15+ at every new locations. This alone saved us A LOT of money. This hotel is also very close to places that we wanted to visit 5 min bike to Chinatown, 15-20 to aquarium, planetarium, and Field museum. We ubered to downtown shopping malls and skyeck for less than $10 each round. As for the room itself everything was satisfactory; my favorite being the large/deep bathtub. It's an ideal bathtub for a mini spa treatment. I wish I knew before hand so I could have brought bubble bath/bath bombs with me.
My only complaint is that I wish breakfast included. Instead the hotel has a cafe attached to the building along with a bar and salon. Other amenities we used were the fitness room and computer room which had a microwave for guest to use.
Shout out to the friendly staffs. I had more inquiries about the facility and nearby attractions than normal and the staff provided answers that had more information than I was expecting. Would book again mainly because of them...and the free parking.

Donnie, at the front desk, had my family waiting for a room to check in for 2.5 hours in the lobby. Two couples came in after us and got a room of the same type we were waiting on. When I asked Donnie about this, he said the computer updates all the time but we were feet away from the front desk. After nasty remarks from Donnie for 2.5 hours, he left for the day. I went up to desk and miraculously many rooms were available! Wow!
The coffee shop in the hotel was closed all weekend so we had to leave the hotel to get good coffee and breakfast.
Not near any restaurants. Had to Uber everywhere.

After I booked a room here for my family and I and read the reviews I was a little worried. The reviews were saying bad area and poor service and ect ect.. But I worried really for nothing at all. Yes the area I guess could be a little better but it's Chicago people! And the service was great for us! The staff was very friendly and greeted us with a smile every time. The even helped us with finding a great place to eat in China Town. The have two different parking lots one is even privately gated. The rooms were clean and I only heard a train one time in the morning and we were right next to it. So I just wanted to say this Hotel was nice and dont read the reviews before cause for my family and I we had a nice experience here!
