Nice and quiet. Easy access to the convention center. Surface was clean but quite dirty in the hidden areas. Really comfy bed for a hotel!

I had a nice relaxing night!! I loved the deep soaker tub in the room!! The one downside was that I had to purchase breakfast, for the price of the room, there should of been free continental breakfast.

Miss Jackie at the front desk always takes care of me. Great ambience, free parking, free WiFi, large rooms with two Queen beds, chairs, flat screen TV and fridge. Great overall experience

You do get what you pay for. Pros: great price, location, and free parking. Cons: rooms are not the best, shower head was not fully functional.

What a great find! We were in Chicago to watch a musical performance near Soldier Field and decided to stay at this hotel... So glad we did. Nice comfortable rooms with deep soak tubs, a mini fridge and free on-site parking! The lobby bistro has a great breakfast as well.

It's a quiet hotel, but it's a clean and nice hotel. 4 minute drive to the McCormick place and good for a quick stop if you're travelling. 100% recommend

Great hotel. Large and clean rooms ... the only flaw is the distance from the center; the nearest metro stations are the red or the green line (both 15 minutes on foot) and walking after dark in those areas is not at all prudent. In general, the CHI center is not reliable after a certain time, in my opinion. Deserted streets, few cars and police almost nothing ...

2 years ago, my friends stayed here for 2 nights and they were stolen a kindle a bag and $1000 cash. We reported to the police and nothing was feedback in the last 2 years.

Loud music at 2:30 am in the morning without any notice in advance. It's impossible to sleep because of the noise. Malfunctioned toilet. Had to use the public restrooms downstairs. The rooms are spacious and clean though. The location is ok too.

Traveled here for a convention and booked due to proximity to McCormick Place, price, and reviews. Seems to be falling apart with little to no care from management. We checked in, went to dinner, came back and our keys weren't working. The service technician helped us in our room (after 45 minutes of using a PRY BAR) and then replaced the battery in the door lock and got new keys. This still didn't work. Had to pry into our room again the next day...it seemed like this had happened more than once looking at the door. The front desk helped to find us another room so we switched rooms but I noticed that our room had been flipped. How did the maid service get in if the lock was broke? They aren't going to those lengths to get into a room to flip it. So, we move rooms yet this door DIDN'T LOCK properly. You could literally just push the door open from the outside. Also noticed a few other rooms on another floor that were propped open as if they had to pry into them. It seems that management is out of touch with repairs and just cares about profits. They also don't have a restaurant and they serve "breakfast"....but it doesn't start until 9:30. So if you are traveling for work and want breakfast I would look elsewhere. Lastly, the shuttle was $5 each way per person to McCormick place. We didn't take this, but I found that a bit absurd. The staff in general was great and helpful which is the only saving grace for this hotel.

Cozy, friendly and attentive staff. In addition, public transportation stops at the corner. Excellent to work and relax.

Coffee shop, gift shop hours SUCK and they are ridiculously over priced. Such as $3.50 for a 16.9 oz coke & a small candy bar was $3 in the Gift Shop.
Nearest Starbucks or c-store is not really in walking distance... SO BRING YOUR OWN SNACKS AND SODA
WIFI is terrible too...

location is quite, rooms comfortable and affordable, staff friendly and efficient.

The hotel is super nice, but the cafe inside the hotel is not worth the money spent. The waffles are soggy and I couldn't even cut them up. I had to pull them apart. The turkey sausage was too salty, and the hash brown tasted like the hash browns that are served in schools except it was super soggy as well.

It was a pleasant surprise to find the South Loop Hotel right off one of the major highways coming through Chicago. In the distance we had a clear view of the skyline. With it being Chicago, I was a bit concerned about what our safety and security would be like (considering we have a van full of music gear). Upon walking in we were greeted warmly by the gentleman at the front desk as we took in the large lobby area. It has this old school charm to it that you don't find at chain hotels. Our hotel key also gave us parking access to a gated lot in the courtyard of the property, which was perfect for us. We got a corner room and loved having two windows with a view of the city. It was cold and rainy when we arrived but that hot shower brought me back to life. They also have brand new soaking tubs installed in the bath and you can just sink into them for a really great bath experience.

There's lots of food delivery services nearby - including a place called Pizzano's that has a no-carb sausage crust deep dish pizza. For the keto friends - this is it!

For those looking to explore the city, I've always thought the best way would be to park and take the train. The hotel is only a few blocks away from the stations and from there you can get to wherever you want to explore. We did this and were able to visit The Bean (cloud gate), Millennium Park and the Chicago Board of Trade building. All in all a hotel in a great location for exploring, with all the service and amenities you need for your stay.

Average hotel but has free parking and is close to downtown

Stayed here for 4 nights to see the U2 shows at the United Center. Can't beat the price in Chicago. Not a lot to do nearby but free parking (rare) and fast free wifi. Nice bed, cold air conditioning, nice shower with good pressure, REAL DirecTV with a guide and nice picture, fridge in room but no microwave (otherwise I'd rate 5 stars). There is a microwave in the business center you can use. Can't speak for the onsite bar & restaurant, I didn't try them. I would stay here again for sure.

2 day stay. Very nice. Quiet. On site parking for one car is free. 2nd car is $10 a night for a dashboard ticket. Quick and easy check-in. Clean rooms. Delivery of local foods to your room until 11pm, then you just have to come down to pick it up. Views aren't bad but not the greatest. Cool rooms with no weird smells.

Decent hotel. Well cleaned but kind of far from downtown. The front desk staff was not very knowledgeable of the area.

There was adequate parking spaces allotted for guests, and the room was quite nice. There was a dispenser for shampoo and body wash in the showers, which I found to be quite good considering how often I've been given 1 ounce bottles of these things at other hotels and needed more. However, the staff was less than stellar and made me feel as though I was a nuisance rather than a customer. I would stay here again if the price was right, but I wouldn't expect anything more than a bed to sleep in.

Stayed here during Star Wars Celebration and had no complaints. Staff was friendly and helped with any questions about the area.

The rooms were large, clean and we'll kept. I was warned 3 times during check in not to have parties or smoke in the room which is odd. Also the mirror was smashed on my vehicle overnight. The neighborhood is rough so be cautious where you park around the hotel. This would not be my first choice but the staff seems to be making the best with a difficult situation.

The bathroom is nice and the rooms is spacious. The location is ideal for the convention center, other than that it's ok. Overall 3.5 star hotel in my opinion

Very bland rooms with no feeling. No art work or design concept.

The rooms were nice and I loved the big soaking tub, my problem was with the house keeping service. Almost every day of my stay, I was highly disappointed with the service of the housekeepers, I am a housekeeper myself and the way they worked here would never be acceptable at the hotel I work for. I don't know if it's the way they were trained or what but I personally had to call down for service 3 different days and one of those days I called down 3 times trying to at least get towels and still didn't receive anything (towels or service) until 4pm!! That's just crazy. If anything stayovers should be the rooms serviced first because you never know what the guest have to do that day, which is why at my hotel they are first so they won't be waiting around until late afternoon for the things they might need right away. AND when a guest actually calls down saying they room hasn't been serviced all day, that housekeeper is immediately sent to the guest not told, 'oh the housekeepers work until around 6 so they should be to you when they can.' Huh??? Smh ridiculous. But the manager did give me half off one of my days here because of the first incident, which is ok, I guess. No I wouldn't come back.

This hotel is nice but only okay. There's no bar, no coffee/tea and the service at the front desk was mediocre. The woman that checked us in barely smiled and wasn't very friendly. However, I did really enjoy the bath tub in the room. It was very deep.

I stayed at the Chicago South Loop Hotel while in town on business. I had to check in late but relaxed due to the warm and welcoming staff and lobby. The gated parking lot also helped to put my mind at ease. The room was warm, comfortable, and spacious. I will absolutely stay here again the next time I come to Chicago.

It was terrible. I stayed there twice. First time no problem. Second time they stole $251.40 from us at the front desk. Will never stay there again. Oh and night receptionist was rude. Also they messed up out reservations payments. Which resulted in them stealing our money. Still have the receipts as proff.

Awesome rooms very comfortable stay staff was awesome

Last week I spent 6 nights at the Chicago South Loop Hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I was upgraded from a double queen to a king suite when staff saw I was travelling alone. When I told them I was a comedian who stayed up late they always made sure that my room had coffee I wasn t disturbed early in the morning. The hotel is placed just on the outside of China Town near some of the best restaurants in the city. The hotel is also placed close to public transit where you are a quick trip to anywhere you need to go in the city. I would highly recommend this gorgeous and historic hotel.

Very small parking lot but safe and clean hotel. Nice views of the city, and great accommodations for the price.

Friendly staff, nice room and comfy bed. Only bad thing, went to get breakfast at 8 and cafe was closed. Supposed to be open at 730. Stopped at desk and was told she should open soon. Only McDonalds close to eat at.

I stay at south loop hotel every time I come into town for a show at Reggie s. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the front desk and security staff is always friendly. Free parking is a nice bonus, too! There is no continental breakfast, though, and their housekeeping staff does not respect late checkouts or privacy as much as I would expect.

Accessible to the city centre by foot and lovely big room. Fabulous staff!

The hotel has 3 parking areas that are patrolled 24/7 by security staff. Parking is free. Rooms are good sized, and very clean. Most rooms have "soaking tubs" (bath tub big enough for me being 6' 3" & 180lb to fit very comfortably in). More

Really nice hotel. Loved the free parking! Except the gift shop was not open at all the 4 days we stayed there.

The price is good but the hotel is just average at best. No aminities, food restaurants bars or activity with in walking distance. Parking is limited. Hotel staff at the desk try hard but the rest of the staff good luck.

Very nice room. Staff very patient with us. One of our students lost a piece of jewelry and they recovered it for us. Very easy parking. Walking distance to good food, red line, and Wintrust Arena.

The rooms are nice and big. For the price on where it's located is extremely low. I will stay here again. The only thing was that they charge you an extra $100 for damage and so on. For god sakes. You have my card info. Don't take $100 out of my pocket. 9-26-16 I now find out it will take a7 days before I get my $100 back. That's messed up. They should have made that notable right away. I didn't know until I looked to see how much money was in my bank. That was money I was counting on. Let the people know you do this. Not in small print somewhere you can't see. That's way is 3 instead of 5.

Great stay close to dt and everything else was convinent

They went over and beyond to make me comfortable. I was staying as a guest of Amtrak due to missing my connecting train because they were running late.

Hotel was nice. Sucks that the bar & restaurant is closed! Long walk to get a burger and beer.

Enjoyed my stay! Rooms large and clean. Close enough to downtown but not in a congested area.

All employees are very friendly. Nice place to stay within walking distance to the McCormick center. However there is no room service and breakfast is $16 for basic items. Also they do not allow you to charge restaurant purchases to your room. But overall great value, great service and a nice hotel.

Arrived for check in today for a room that I've had booked for several months, and it appears as though they cancelled the reservation and sold it off to the highest bidder. Having to now pay extremely inflated last-minute rates for a nearby hotel for the event we are in town for. Not happy with the unprofessional service of the South Loop Hotel right now.

If you pick the correct occasion for staying, this can be a great option. I chose to stay the Saturday evening before the Shamrock Shuffle. On the morning of the event, it was a $6 cab ride to Grant Park, tremendous option to avoid driving into the loop and dealing with expensive parking options. The rooms are huge and clean.

The one issue would be noise on weekends. They do have a couple bars and the lower level which can generate noise, I was on the Second Level directly above the comedy club. Once I turned my PTAC unit onto high, I couldn't hear a thing. Also, there is free parking but you may have to wait or circle for a while on weekends as the spots fill up with those parking for the club. Management had two workers outside attempting to prevent this as parking is to be for hotel guests only, so A for effort from management.

Overall, it worked perfectly for me and should be a good option for business trips, road warriors or those wanting to stay at a more affordable rate while attending mccormick place, china town or sox park.

The stay was nice, but while my car was parked in their lot for 4 nights my catalytic converter was stolen off my car

The Chicago South Loop was a great deal for the money. The beds were extremely comfortable and the room was very clean. The hotel was also so quiet which was nice. The staff was super nice and friendly . Also, I stayed there with my son and they had tons channels for us to watch movies and shows when we had down time and I felt safe in the area with him. The bathroom was updated and had a big garden tub with extra large towels. But, my favorite thing about this place was the location. They had tons of free parking in the lot behind and it was only 10 mins to millennium park. Parking in Chicago can easily run you $50 a night so that part was worth every penny. Overall this is the best deal in Chicago in my opinion.

Pros: Great customer service, large rooms, love the deep bathtub, clean. Good food at the cafe.
Cons: Our room was right next to the train/busy street and you could hear everything! The hotel needs soundproof windows. Beds were hard. The free parking was a plus but the lots get full at night and so does the street parking so we had to park a few blocks away.

I would stay again for the value.

Doors are sticky and greasy. Other than that it seems to be clean. Employees are very nice and hospitable. A little pricey for what you get. I would stay again if nothing else was available. Good in a pinch.
