Booked my trip over two months in advance with Expedia. Hotel claimed they didn't have the booking number and it was Expedia's fault because their system doesn't work with Expedia... Clearly not true if you check this hotel through the Expedia website. So, right off the bat they have lied. If they are not lying, why would you run a business knowing you can't book with the largest booking site on the web and not reslove the issue? I had a convention in town and there were no rooms available anywhere. Had to double with a co worker. This happened to to others traveling with me. Hotel over looks a very active train route. It passes every thirty minutes and you can not seal the windows shut. Enjoy hearing it all night. Bar is closed on Mondays. This hotel is a place you stay if you have no other choices. The staff was zero help in resolving thier mistakes. I know it has high ratings but, feel free to check out the rooms they are out dated and dingy. Pay a bit more and avoid this mess if you can. If you are a business travler, 100% do not stay here. You will regret it.

This a great place for a weekend stay, even though it is experiencing growing pains as the restaurant was not open yet. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I will be staying there again.

The hotel and room was nice and spacious, it was also well kept and had a friendly environment. The location was near my place of business and served it's purpose well. The service was timely and conducted in a friendly and professional manner.

The housekeeping staff at this hotel stole my son's Ipad out of the room. Then upon returning to retrieve it staff at hotel allowed us to enter the room after another guest returned without their permission to look through their stuff for the iPad. Now the hotel manager is refusing to return my calls to discuss replacement of iPad. I located the iPad twice to the hotel and staff refused to return it. This hotel is unprofessional and does not value privacy . Do not stay here if you value either Of these.

Cleanleness is average, when I checked in to my room I found a towel on the bathroom floor, then house keeping crew kept missing it for three days until I went out and got somebody to take it.
Parking is a big problem, don't let the "free parking" statement fool you, the hotel actually rents the parking for anybody for $10 so you can barely find any FREE PARKING.
Staff is friendly in general.

Rooms are spacious, clean, and very comfortable. Staff is very friendly and everything was close by (My Uber was only like $10-$15 max to get to Wrigleyville). And if you have a vehicle there s free parking at the hotel or out on the streets. Would definitely come back!

Chicago South Loop hotel is a wonderful property with its own secure parking parking lot which in which a parking pass is included with stay. This hotel is very professional and has a friendly and efficient front staff to help get you checked in quickly. These rooms are sharp and massive; biggest hotel room I ve ever stayed in that wasn t considered a suite. I m talking like this is the size of a small apartment. Bathtub was huge! While I m sure the property was near capacity, it was also very quiet and peaceful. The little coffee shop was reasonably priced and delicious (and complimentary coffee was available in rooms as well). The band was excited about the weight room (while I was more stoked about the business center). There s an on-site salon as well. Will continue to stay here when in Chicago. It s very close to a great club and restaurant called Reggie s. We ll continue to make this our go to spot to stay when in town. Thanks team!

From 20.5. until 22.5. I was there. I had a big room with 2 queenbeds and everything was clean. The decor complies with the standard which is completely enough for me. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Despite the proximity to the highways, it is not loud. The connection to the good Chicago public transport is quite good; just around the corner at State St is a bus stop and a short walk away is a stop of the elevated train with a ticket machine.
Again any time

Not sure about the location but stat was good. Hotel was clean and room size was pretty big. Free parking was the main reason I went there. Wish they had free breakfast. Little outside of the downtown and the surrounding seemed to be less populated but I guess it's safe.

Lovely independent hotel with a charming look and incredibly helpful staff. Ask them about the shuttle to Connie's Pizza, or about just anything. They are great. Also, fantastic deep tubs for soaking.

I stayed here 3 nights in summer without much problem. The staff was smooth in dealings. They also have a cloakroom which you can use for free. I stored my luggage with them for 1-2 days after I left.

The Chicago South Loop Hotel was an experience.

The Chicago South Loop Hotel was an experience.
Short story: the physical place is nice but the staff is HORRENDOUS.

How it earned 2 stars: The building itself was in a convenient location. The lobby had comfortable seating which we used an unreasonable amount of time due to the terrible receptionist. We arrived late into the night (2 AM) but had clarified with the hotel previously that they would be able to accommodate our late check in.
When we arrived, we had to get on our phones to call the front desk because no one was there to receive us. We had to do this several times until he slowly sauntered to the desk. We eventually get our keys and we traveled to our room. BUT THERE WERE PEOPLE IN THERE! We walked in on people in their room at 2 AM. Thankfully, they were understanding but this is clearly not okay for several reasons. He gave us a key to a room that was ours but the hotel staff had given our room away to another group!
When we traveled down to the lobby to go solve this issue and he said "Let me see if we have a room for you... I don't know why you are freaking out." It was 2 in the morning.
We had booked these rooms in July and the city was packed due to a rugby event. He then tried to give us a room with water damage and was going to charge us the same amount.
Suddenly, we finally got an upgraded room which was the only nice thing about our stay. The pillows were comfortable and the water pressure was good.
The staff was horrendous. We're reasonable people and understand mistakes happen. However, there was no apologetic tone, no sorry, nothing. Receiving the upgraded room was like having teeth pulled.

Hotel was great. Staff was very friendly. There is a 24 hour access to the computer and printer which is nice if you need to print something.

The location was convenient because it was about a 15 minute walk to convention center. Other than that it's not in the nicest area. Also nothing else really to walk to.

Husband and I brought our 4 year old to the city as a birthday trip - I was very pleased with our stay at the South Loop Hotel. The front desk staff was very friendly and answered all our questions with their honest opinions. Our room was nicely laid out and gave plenty of room for us to spread out and relax after a long day walking the City. The king bed was comfortable as well as the furniture in the seating area. The Wi-Fi was very fast and I was able to get my work done in no time. FREE PARKING, FREE PARKING, FREE PARKING is ultimately why we decided on this hotel and I am glad we did. Not only is the parking free but it's in a gated key entry lot.

A few negatives - our a/c was loud, not unbearable but I could have done without it, our shower leaked all over the bathroom. I'm not sure if every room is equipped with a handicap shower as ours was but it was not set up very well and after one shower the entire room was flooded. A quick fix with a few towels at the base of the shower entry prevented any more water leaking. Also we were hoping to get a few gifts on our way out of town on our last day so we could avoid the hassle of going into the busy areas of the city and I was very unimpressed that the gift shop was NEVER OPEN. The front desk staff informed me that it was an independently ran business and was not affiliated with the hotel. So unfortunate we were wanting to spend a good deal of money on gifts for friends and family. I hope hotel management sees this issue and looks to resolve it.

Overall this was a great hotel for the price and when we come back we will book here.

Was ok

This hotel has a unique music theme to the decor. There are vibrant paintings in the lobby and walkways, and our room featured a black and white photo of a piano. As a band on tour, it s cool to stay in a hotel that celebrates music. Our group checked in late and Kelly was super helpful, making the check in process quick so we could get up to our rooms.
My room (252) faced the rear parking area and was a bit quieter than my friends room that faced the street, so keep that in mind if you are a light sleeper and request a room that faces the back. The room was large enough for 3 people to share comfortably, with 2 queen beds and a small sitting area. The bathroom had a super deep bathtub, and was perfect for a relaxing soak after a day exploring the city.
If you don t feel like walking to a coffee shop nearby - there is a cafe on the ground floor with a variety of drinks and food available for purchase.

My family & I stayed at this hotel for Labor Day Weekend. The hotel its self is nice & clean. The clerks there thought need to some training. They clerk that was helping us was so unorganized. We told her to charge one room to my brother credit card & the two rooms to mine. We made our 100$ deposit for each rooms. The next day we go check out the same clerk that was helping us the night before told us that we didn t pay for our night, when we clearly handed her our credit cards with the 300$ deposit. I was so livid with the whole situation. After coming back from our trip, my card was charge again 134.00. I tried to called the hotel back the clerk that was answering the phone kept telling me my payment never went through because their credit card machine was down. She asked for my name and will passed my name on to her manager to call me back. Days went by and still the manager never called me back. A month later my card was charge twice again, $113 & $145!! I called the hotel to find out why a my card was being charged a month later, Jackie ( I think was the clerk name that answered the phone) she was also the same clerk that supposedly gave my name to the manager to called me back. I asked why a month later I m being charged twice...her responses was our credit card machine was down. Same answer as a month ago. She was rude and disrespectful. She was like if you have a problem disputed with your bank what kind of customer services is that?! Why didn t the first clerk told us their credit card machine was down the first time we checked in. If I knew that was the case, I would ve just paid with cash and not be over charged a month later. I honestly would not recommend this hotel. Their employees is unprofessional and they over charged you without giving you a reasonable answers.

Loved the stay, rooms were clean and well made. Hot tub was actually a hot tub so that's a plus. Receptionists were really cool and mature and experienced, their appearance was professional and tidy and for some reason their jewelry were similar and really classy.

I stayed overnight while in town for business. Check-in and check-out were quick, they had free parking in a gated lot, and the room was nice, clean, odor-free, and quiet. While my needs we're simple (just really needed a hassle-free, clean, quiet place to sleep), the hotel met them all well.

Amazing experience

Amazing experience
Staff was amazing, hotel is in good location, close to chinatown and magnificent mile.
And most importantly, free parking!!
Definitely worth it, will be back again

I have tried calling for the past few days, but I keep getting a busy signal from the number you have as your main hotel line.

I needed to cancel the reservation that I scheduled for Saturday.

Is there any way someone can please contact me?

I love this hotel! When we first got here, we weren't able to get into our room (2 queens) so they bumped us up to a deluxe queen. The room was super nice when we walked in, very large with a nice living area (couch and chair.) The bathroom has a giant tub which is nice after walking around the Windy City in winter! Also - the staff is super nice and helpful, definitely a really great team. All in all, a really wonderful experience.

Very nice staff, clean lobby, clean rooms. I'm legally blind with a small amount of vision, I walk with a straight cane because I can't see much past my nose. I appreciate that I wasn't made to feel uncomfortable for my disability. The staff were very helpful and weren't bothered by my asking them to read a few things for me since I can't read average sized print.

Everything appeared clean. Our room was spacious and well put together. Only issue was it rained our 2nd night which caused a small leak in the ceiling. We alerted the front desk upon our departure. I feel confident that they will fix it soon.

My experience was not one where I actually stayed at the hotel. I was arriving late to town for the international manufacturers trade show. I looked online and saw this place advertising rooms for $134 a night. I called and he said they had a few rooms available but that the price would be $330 per night. I asked very flatly if they were gouging because there's a trade show going on and the person on the phone responded "Yes, but all of the hotels in the area have increased their prices." Personally I think that sucks and it should be illegal but it is what it is. I just booked another room 40 miles away for $137. My question is this, why would I pay $330 for a room that is obviously probably only worth about a $134 per night stay?

It is a great hotel and has free parking lot, we checked in early and they let us store our luggage inside, the room wasn't clean yet so we decided to go explore the aquarium. When we came back the room was still dirty so we went to the front desk and they were so kind and sent someone to clean it they apologized for the inconvenience and gave us free breakfast in the next morning. The employees were respectful and kind at all times. The place is quiet and clean. The bed is comfy and the room and bathroom are big!

Great location and parking is free, which is rare for Chicago hotels. Rooms are basic but comfortable. Lobby store and bar were closed so hopefully they plan to get those back open soon.

Worst attitude! The receptionist just say front desk. No greeting at all when we checked in and out. I was asking for facial tissues they brought me towels. They didn t find my L&F and keep transfer me to housekeeping and front desk. The last night of our stay the house keeping didn t make an effort to clean or make our bed at all. We had a baby traveling with us we needed a clean room. Weed smoke was all over the hallway. Overall it s not a nice hotel.

I have stayed at the South Loop every time I come to Chicago. Its clean and the staff is courteous and top notch. The rooms are large, undated decor, with convenience to all what Chicago has to offer. I would recommend this hotel to everyone

It was a nice hotel. The room was spacious. The bathroom had a nice deep tub. Some things in our room were not quite right, though. The closet door was off it's track (not a big deal) and it was difficult to turn the shower on. Other than that, it was a great place to crash after a night on the town.

The Chicago South Loop hotel is in a wonderful area, just a stones throw off of the highway and within walking distance to Reggie s - a music venue that my clients frequent often. Check in here is always a breeze as the well-dressed staff members are always fast and efficient. The rooms here are huge and remind me of Cambria Suites. Since my last stay here, they ve added new sofas, couches and coffee tables. Rooms also feature mini fridge, coffee makers and a huge bathtub. The food boutique cafe, located on the first floor was excellent and I enjoyed dining for both breakfast and lunch. One of my favorite things about this spot is that it has a few private parking lots and includes a parking pass with stay. A trip to Chicago always includes a stay here at South Loop Hotel - I wouldn t have it any other way.
