Terrible customer service. Never reply, just ring you once and if you don't answer that call they don't try again! Won't let me leave them as say I'm in a contract, but we've changed company names and won't put our contract in new name!

Utter crooks. Send bills and final demands for gas that was never used based on overestimated bills. Impossible to get hold of and terrible to deal with. That this company is still trading is shocking.
Hi All I ve set up my small shop in December 2018 . I ve received a call from broken which got me transferred to BES Utilities to be my electric provider. Few days later I received a letter from NPower ( previous address supplier ) to say sorry for leaving us. I ve called imidiatly BES and explained that I m not yet live with them and would like to cancel everything and stay with NPower, BES response very rude refused so. 30 days later sent me an estimated 2 x bills
Because of that i ve Been charged twice for going in overdraft and BES left me very disappointed. I m not surprised this BES has such a bad reputation and also been investigated , found guilty by authorities. Please Google s BES Utilities investigates My next call is Tradings Standards ,Ombudsman Please ready all the reviews on net before make your mind up . Thanks
Update 12.02.19 Bes have now asked to have my review removed from thom this page..... joke they admitted and know they have done wrong and after a tel conversation with Jamie, Mark and Diane I m am still in the same situation , i ve Asked them nicely about 5 times on different conversation to terminate my contract as I had enough of them treating me like this and they keep changing stories every time , answer was no we don t do that. My solicitor now on the case advised me to request a copy of each tel recording before even discussing anything then take ref no , names date, times keep copy of all of those high bills and also if you been contacted by one of they so called brokers take the name as they will need investigating , It is very difficult trying to find time to run a business while spending a lot of time on the phone to this Untrusted/wrong doing BES utility.

Terrible. Still trying to bill us 6 month after swapping. Bad service, pushy letters for bills that don't exist and even the number charges you! long phone waiting times. COMPANY NEEDS CLOSING DOWN
Absolute joke of a company, rude customer service, incorrect billing that they add interest to whilst investing the incorrect bill after telling you your account is on hold. Use Facebook to try and trick you into agreeing contracts. Either utterly incompetent or theives! Avoid avoid avoid!

Quite possibly one of the incompetent companies who you will ever have the displeasure of encountering. They used to be the supplier to a property (shop) we took over. They demanded money with a different bill every month even though we had switched supplier. They are nasty, malicious and wouldn't know the truth if it slapped them in the face - don't touch them with a barge pole if you have any sense.
Avoid this company at all costs and do not let brokers talk you into a contract with them. They are causing financial difficulties and severe stress for the owners of small businesses which is their target customer who have not got the financial clout to fight them. Update. This company continue with their antics and are now hiding behind questionable trust pilot reviews, the negatives are the ones to believe. Look at reviews before Aug 21st 2018 then after that date, they had 3 positives and were 98% bad. That was 6 months ago now count the positives since 21st august. Before I start writing this review DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER USING BES UTILITIES!!. I promise you that you will thank every person that left an honest 1 star review on here because they will save you a lot a money and hassle when you go elsewhere. I have the misfortune to be tied into a contract with this company for 5 long painful years. They have cost me thousands in expensive fees. I beg you please use any company but this one they will bring your world crashing down around you. Extortionate prices the worlds worst costumer service need I go on...
Terrible customer service, verbal contracts that are read to you so quick that you can't hear what is said. Ask for paperwork to check and make a decision on before committing, not happening (got more chance of a free trip to the moon). Call to question why rate has jumped 15%, when questioned, they laugh at you (well Bobby the so called customer service assistant did). You ask not to be contact by the partners, they all call you all the time. Eish I had read ratings first... anyway Its fine, no intention of signing a second time with BES and I will make sure every business I know is aware how poor your service is and never signs with them. No chance of customer retention!
Now this place is a joke. They kept over charging me, so I had them fit me a smart meter in and they still over charge me. They took a payment that has left me in credit and are still asking for money. All seems good at the start, but the way they conduct the company is appalling.
Absolute shambles of a company! Been issue after issue since day one. First 3 invoices were all incorrect due to an issue with the smart meter readings (they blamed the company who managed the smart meters) but rather than ringing me to tell me they just slapped the increase on my next invoice with no explanation and would not accept my remonstrations. They are a pathetic excuse for a company and I will be switching provider at the first possible opportunity and advising every business I know to avoid them.
Complete Scam. We were closed due to Covid-19, yet for some reason our monthly bill went up by over 150%... We were closed! We used absolute minimum electricity, just enough to keep the alarm system operating. When we rang to ask, they said our smart meter had told them the rate used... We don't have a smart meter! Suprisingly didn't have an answer to that. Said will launch an investigation... Told our bank what had happened and they managed to pull back the direct debt after agreeing it sounded like a scam. We now get threatening emails every week yet no word on their investigation. Don't use this company.

We only have 5 radiators and a brand new A* energy saving boiler. Also all lights are LED! This company has had its offices raised by trading standards and I can see why.
Expensive if you search the market rather than believing the dodgy brokerage services they use you will see this for yourself. They use these brokers that misinform and mislead to get you to sign up. They must be aware of this as they have so many bad reviews here alone. They use the broker as a buffer between them and the consumer so that they are not the ones misleading or misinforming but they are the ones that profit to the detriment of the consumer. AVOID!!!! why can't we give zero ratings?
Moved out of a previous property almost one year ago and we are STILL paying for the electricity there. They try and make it as complicated as possible and constantly claim they can't get in touch with the Landlord so therefore we are still responsible. Apparently a letter from our company solicitor with lease attached, and letters from business rates department of the local authority which confirm change of tenancy aren't good enough. Have never had this problem with any other commercial supplier. Steer well clear. The fact of the matter is that we have moved out, whether you can or cannot get in touch with the landlord is your problem not ours!
Absolutely disgraceful, I received a phone call the other day off a lady she spoke that fast i couldn't tell half of what she said, i was at work where the signal drifts in and out so again i missed half of what she said, she rang from a number that when you call it back tells you it is out of service, i received no email informing of of all the stuff she had been on about, i got no reference number or anything to quote to the company when i rang (after having to google the phone number for the company) she entered me into a contract when i dont' even have the keys or a lease for the property which i have been informed is illegal, also i was informed (by a different company) that there is not such thing as a registration date, as she told me.... oh and when you email the customer services you get a ping pong email back telling you the computers are being upgraded so it may be 10 days before they get back to you! Also they will all tell you that you don't have any 'cooling off' period... which is funny considering on the OFGEM website, it says you do!

About three weeks ago one of your employees phoned me because we get gas and electricity for our business through you. Your employee tells us they can take over our BT internet and provide us with the same package (75mb Fiber Optic Broadband) for a bit cheaper. Your employee also tells us that if we switch our home broadband over they would install a router and provide the internet to our business address FREE OF CHARGE with no monthly payments. On Friday 6/2/15, our BT fiber optic broadband is switched off. I set up the router you provided and get access to the internet with 5mb download speed, NOT fiber optic. Not even close to the speed your employee promised. He told me I would retain the fiber optic, which obviously isn't the case.
Nobody should get away with lying to their customers, it is unacceptable and completely unprofessional.
Dreadful business. Misleading sales pitch, tie you up into a 3 year contract with extortionate exit fees. Heavy handed, big business tactics, not at all flexible, the worst of the worst. Avoid at all cost. Never again.
TERRIBLE company only gave one star so I could write a review to make people AVOID them I sold my business and yet there still trying to charge me. I have rang emailed to tell them I no longer own the business. No option but to contact the ombudsmen terrible customer service too sounded like they where having there christmas Party in the back ground when i final got through on the phone after being on hold 45 mins AVOID THIS TERRIBLE COMPANY they need closing down.
Update on this complaint here's is the email they sent me rejecting the fact a new tanent has now took over the business and building of where the electricity account is held even tho I have spoken to them and emailed the new details of the new tenant I also sent a copy of the paperwork to them of the proof of sale of the business. The new tenant have been in touch by email and phone to tell them they are the new tenants they have also forwarded the proof of sale and there new tenancy agreement and informed them that they do not wish to stay with them and are going with another electricity company and rightfully so as they can set up a electricity account with who they wish. So here's a copy of what they emailed me.

We are writing to advise you that after carrying out a thorough investigation relating to the alleged change of ownership / tenancy / occupation position at the above premises, we have unfortunately been unable to confirm that you have vacated the above premises.
We may have been unable to verify the change of ownership / tenancy / occupation, as we have not received the necessary information regarding this that we have previously requested. Here is a reminder of the information that we require in order to process the alleged change of tenancy/ownership/occupation at the premises. The new owner / occupiers full name, their business name and the date their tenancy / ownership / occupancy commenced. A copy of the formal agreement transferring the ownership to the new owner and / or a copy of the formal lease / tenancy agreement evidencing their occupancy. Please note that this document needs to be certified by a letter from a Solicitor and / or owner and / or landlord confirming the agreement is genuine with appropriate identification of the owner and / or landlord of the property being a copy of their current driving licence (containing their photograph and signature) or alternatively, a copy of their current passport (the page bearing their photograph and signature). Please note should we not receive any information and the account builds up payment arrears or if there are payment arrears already on the account then we reserve the right, as the supplier, to isolate any meter that we are responsible for supplying electricity to and this will incur a disconnection / isolation charge. This will also leave the premises without electricity until we have agreed the reconnection, which again will incur further charges. As the supplier we endeavour to avoid any such instances and respectfully request your co-operation in this matter to ensure these instances are avoided.
It is safe to say I'm fighting a losing battle with this IDIOTIC company. I do not believe I should have to go through the exstream lengths to cancel a contract. I am mother with a young baby that's why I sold the business I don't have the time for this. Contacting legal advice after the Christmas.

Had to deal with this company when taking over a running lease and current utilities with BES. The process of moving utilities to another supplier has been horrendous and would never want to deal with this company ever again.

Had to deal with this company due to a previous tenant using them, and there was a 2nd meter which did not get swapped right away due to not knowing about it.

Signed a four year contract stupidly after them promising to beat our current supplier. First bill came in over 3x the amount! We called explaining they would put us out of business but they were not interested. Went to see a solicitor who said he had had a bad experience with them but had only committed to a one year deal which he could not get out of!! The dreaded feeling every month when the bill comes in is so sickening as most of your hard earned money is just given to these RIP off cowboys. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Terrible from day one, i was promised a hefty discount for using both my telecoms and energy through this and its sister company which i never received. My smart meter has not been used for accurate readings in the two years iv been with them resulting in wildly inaccurate estimates of usage that fell short of my actual usage. This resulted in a huge bill being taken from my accounts even though i had arranged with their customer service team to pay it incrementally, another broken promise.
We rented a premises and BES were the utility company that came with it. We have been jumping through hoops and chasing our transfer non stop with no progress at all. We feel that they are purposefully loosing what we send them and asking for excessive and ridiculous bits of information to drag this process out as long as possible and make our bill as large as possible. The competition for worst customer service ever is won hands down by BES, I have never had the misfortune of dealing with such an underhand and generally appalling company before. I would rather go a month with no electricity than deal with this hellish company again. Avoid them at all costs, you will regret having anything to do them.
------ We just received a lovely letter from them saying that we didn't prove we are new tenant and they even inform us that a debt collection process will escalate and the supply being disconnected. All of that is a simply a nightmare as we just rented a new premises, so there is no chance to be in any debt with BES Utilities and the only thing we want is to get a rid of them.
By far the most untrustworthy utility company I have had the displeasure of using. Stupidly, I agreed to sign up to a four year term. I felt BES will take any opportunity to overcharge, took ages to resolve my final bill. I was once charged for not using enough electricity! On this basis it really didn't surprise me when I found out OFGEM had fined them twice. If I remember correctly paying a penalty for not using enough electricity was the reason for one of the OFGEM fines. You also have to call an 0844 number and sometimes wait ages to get through to someone. Most unscrupulous utility company I have ever come across.
Don't ever use this company you termination and they don't let you leave i have written evidence they agreed but still sending me out new contracts. Will be contacting ombudsman tomorrow. They never call back awful service. Please avoid at all cost

After eventually being able to get away from this company. They make it very very difficult. If you have dealing with them you will understand what I mean. BES utilities are a paperless energy supplier - my elderly and disabled father is 90 years of age - doesn't have internet, doesn't have a smart phone - so he cannot access any bills and they WONT SEND ANYTHING THROUGH THE POST NOT EVEN A DISCONNECTION WARNING - they just turn up to disconnect it after adding on endless extra fees - DISGUSTING

Avoid this company at all costs, we were cold called from a company that broker BES and then from that day forward they persistently sent us bills then eventually cut of our supply. You can imagine what that did for our restaurant business. Yes we were forced to close our doors. I was with BES for over 3.5 years (I didn't check reviews before signing up) and it's when you come to leave or switch supply or move out of a property they show true colours.
There rates are appalling AFTER your fixed term rates come to an end. Great for the first year or two when the fixed plan is in place, but as soon as the fixed term ends and you go onto a variable plan, all of a sudden rates shoot up, every 6 months prices go up 17% every 6 months.
The only way to end a contract with them is 2 ways...... pay an early termination fee or vacate your property and not become the leaseholder of the property (to which you then aren't liable for the metre). I took the second option and moved premises to a new shop. However....... when you tell BES this, they want proof you have vacated and no longer in charge of the property. Not only have I sent images of the empty property, I have also passed on my landlords details to confirm this. In less than 24 hours they keep sending automated emails back saying that the application to surrender the lease has been rejected by the landlord or they haven't been able to get in touch with the landlord (which is total rubbish and lies) They THEN send you bills for the daily standing charge on the property, and when you don't pay them, they ADD late payment fee's.
Avoid do not use them left premises told i have to find who took over the premises or im still responsible for the bills. Tried to cancel now I just cancelled the direct debit. Send all details.
Absolutely useless company, incompetent, rude staff, they have lied on every single phone call and email we've received from them, a large collection of evidence for OFGEM once you've got past the fact that they are not even our own energy supplier!
What a horrible company to deal with!! Avoid if you can. We have moved out of the property 30.09 and submitted final reading, submitting "moving out" form. We paid our final bill also. We have 18.12 today and BES Utilities is terrorizing and hassling me via text messages and e-mails demanding payments for the energy usage from October and November, threating us with bad debt collection etc. All because allegedly they were unable to contact the landlord!!! So it looks like its our job to make landlord to want to speak to them. ??!!!! We have been with Opus and EON with our other commercial properties and moving out went amazingly smooth. Not with BES. Complaint now launched with the Ombudsman.
Would give them 0 stars if I could be prepared for this company to steal money from your bank account and then tell you it takes 28 days to give it you back! I've been waiting 29 days so far and still no payment! Disgraceful company

Wow! I am livid to actually witness such level off rudeness! I got cut of 2 times and had to repeat myself to 6 different agents which none were helpful, not even a Manager! I can not believe they disconnected our electric in my place of business knowing I have talents living upstairs one of which has a young baby and a toddler. How inhumane. Worse customers service ever a the level of professionalism is disgusting. I would not recommend at all.

I've been trying to break free from their contract and the do not respond to me or let me do anything. The telephone staff at the customer services have no authority to do anything and all they do is waste my time. I would not recommend to anyone. Horrible company who will not allow me the freedom of choice to switch.
They do not take direct debits out when they are supposed to, then charge you a 'non direct debit rate' which is more than TREBLE your agreed rate. Even if you independently pay yourself every month so you don't get behind with payment.
They lie and say you haven't got a direct debit set-up even when you have proof from the bank that it is in place and they have made no attempts to use it.
They send emails threatening a disconnection agent visit in 48hrs of the email but send the email 3 days after the date on the notice. THEN immediately start proceedings.
You will waste so much of your time and money stuck on the phone complaining at their poor service (at 7p per minute (half of which will be on hold!))
It won't let me give 0 stars. If this was the last energy company in the land, get solar, learn how to make fire, get a wind turbine! They are cowboys who only just work inside the law!!!!
