I've been taking my cat here for a year and a half now and the staff are always super friendly and remember my name (and hers), which is always nice. Comfortable waiting area with free coffee and tea, as well as free parking.

My little Teacup Yorkie, Luci, established Banfield as your Primary Care Veterinarian a little over a year ago. Luci Lucy always leaves there a happy puppy even if she has just gotten shots. All the stuff is always very friendly and remembers who we are right away. I would definitely recommend this Banfield anybody looking for an honest happy loving vet for their animal.

Find A Different Location!!!

Find A Different Location!!!

I no longer feel comfortable bringing my dog to this Banfield, and I suggest to anyone trying to find a vets office to go to another location.

I have been with Banfield, this location specifically, for over two years. I recently lost my first dog with them, and decided to keep them as my vet once I got my new dog. The receptionist, Kelsey, to call a bad employee is an insult to bad employees. I have never in my life seen someone in the vet field who legitimately shows outwardly that she does not care about your pet.

I am a member and pay monthly for their services, and my dog had her spay surgery. 3 days after the procedure I called Banfield because of complications (very serious) that occurred. Kelsey refused to allow me to come, she claimed that she couldn t get me in until Tuesday, which was a few days later. I asked her if she thought my dog would make it she replied, I don t know I'm not a doctor. In the most condescending tone I've heard in my adult life. I got ahold of the doctors on their app (thank god) and they told me to call BACK Banfield, and tell them that my dog has severe symptoms and must be seen right away.

This is where it gets messed up, reluctantly she said, Okay let me ask the doctor. Why she didn t just ask the doctor in the first place? Probably didn t want to walk the 15 steps. Of COURSE she came back on the phone and the doctor told her to tell me to come down immediately.

We went, doctor agreed we should come, gave her an IV and any nausea shot, and told me and Kelsey, AND another technician that I needed to keep my Tuesday appointment which Kelsey claimed she set up.
We show up on Tuesday, our name was not on the board, she literally ignored not only my dogs ailment but the doctors literal orders. Playing dumb she pretended like we didn t just see each other, once the other technicians heard how rude she was speaking to me she called me over. I told her we had an appointment, but she basically had nothing for me. She took down my number, and information about the dog, promised me that they would call me within 72 hours.

It has been a week now.

All the actual doctors are incredible. Its the staff that scares the hell out of my wife and I. A surreal experience, and I am sad to realize that people like this work in this field. I am contacting Banfield themselves through their complaint department, and I will never recommend that location to anyone again. I even just got my friend to bring his cat to this location, not anymore.

Fire that horrible employee Kelsey, and get the staff together in a meeting. Understand that this is about the dog, not your personal depression. Do not work in this field if you do not love animals.

The downtown office had parking, which is very nice, and while they did strongly suggest their pet wellness service, which seems like insurance, they were gracious when I declined. The front desk was understaffed, and left unattended fire a few minutes twice while I was there, some of us waited until someone appeared. My kitty got good care, and the vet tech who did her intake was super nice.

Treatment of a fractured toe recommended by one of the doctors at this Banfield left my dog without a paw pad.

Negligence and capitalizing on my pet's health should not be acceptable in this industry, especially if it is a profession that requires compassion, respect and ultimate transparency when caring for all animals in need.

For prevention care, Banfield is good. For urgent care, it can be less helpful and you should go to an emergency specialist hospital. For X-rays, etc. they are far too expensive, even with the wellness plan. The staff is kind and caring. The facility is clean and professional.

Love them! They have been excellent to my little dog, and the Optimum Wellness Plan paid for itself in the first month, when the comprehensive exam found a bladder stone. Kind of long waits to see the doctor, but as long as you are prepared for that, gerat service and great care

I've had nothing but trouble with this banfield. Scheduled her spay and had to reschedule her appt a few months later due to her going into heat. During that time she was switches to the adult plan, so the spay that was included with her puppy plan was no longer included.

I was not informed when I called to schedule her appt that they would be asking me to pay $400 for the spay and that it was not covered. I feel like these little surprise things tend to happen more than usual at this location.

I'll be finding a new vet. I've put a LOT of money into banfield over a year for a couple of shots. Wow.

Always very friendly and overall positive experiences. My dog is on a wellness plan because she is older and has quite a few health problems. Dr. Thompson is great and even helped get me a large bag of prescription dog food to test out for my pup to see what would work before investing money into expensive food.

The front desk coordinator who answered the phone ...

The front desk coordinator who answered the phone was extremely abrupt and rude. When I asked about my wellness plan benefits, she immediately told me the neutering was expiring and I should try calling other clinics who can help me in time. She did get me squeezed in for later in the week. But when she called the next day when she called to confirm my appointment and gave me instructions about fasting, I responded that I had some additional questions and she kept up her scripted dialog and hung up the phone!!! She wasn't even listening to me. I have never had such a bad experience at a Bandfield clinic. The first clinic I went to in Lake Oswego was amazing. Arizona is the best. I regret taking my pet to this clinic, I should have just driven to Lake Oswego. Also, the vet assistant who met with us after our pet was discharged basically read all the after care information off a piece of paper. We did not feel confident taking him home with how poor quality checkout.

My just adopted cat was recovering from a nasty cold he picked up from the shelter. At first it seemed he was recovering well after we brought him home I noticed in the morning there was some blood coming from his nose. Alarmed I called up Banfield & asked some questions. They happily answered everything I asked & informed me of the free first visit coupon after setting up my Sunday appointment. No hidden charges or weird fees. Totally free! The building is spacious & clean too. The staff was wonderfully helpful & so good to my sick kitty. After prescribing his antibiotics & informing us how to administer them plus answering any questions we had the cost for the entire visit was under 100$. The pet plan insurance wasn't pushed upon us but mentioned though. Nice not dealing with a sales pitch. After my experience I highly recommend this branch. Thank you for the great first experience with your clinic!

Last year, we lost our pet cat after a veterinarian trainee worked on his care. We brought him in with minor respiratory distress. I acknowledge that a fully qualified vet's actions may not have changed his death - but it would have changed *how he died and given us a chance to say goodbye.*

However, Dr. Michelle Farkas did three things that were untenable to us:

1. She took him off oxygen and WHILE HE WAS TURNING BLUE DUE TO LACK OF OXYGEN, she shoved him in his dark mesh carrier and only took him out when he was 'calm' and not breathing.
2. She told to pay at the front desk to take him to Dove Lewis WHILE HE WAS DYING IN THE ROOM NEXT TO US
3. She did NOT TELL US HE WAS ACTIVELY DYING so we could say goodbye and comfort him as best we could

Dr. Michelle Farkas never identified herself as a trainee with 5 month's experience. She was clearly unprepared to deal with any part of this situation. Bainsfield does NOT require trainees to identify themselves. She was *supposed to be under supervision* - either that did not occur or her supervisor was ALSO not able to identify a dying cat and discuss the situation with his owners. I acknowledge that a fully qualified vet's actions may not have changed his death - but it would have changed *how he died and given us a chance to say goodbye.*

Dr. Michelle Farkas took him to the back room to examine him and as he declined:
+ Gave him a sedative
+ Took him off oxygen while he was in respiratory distress
+ When he became aggressive and *while he was turning blue since he was DYING* she put a dark grey cat in a dark mesh carrier where it was impossible to visually monitor him
+ Left him in the carrier to tell us to bring him to Dove Lewis and ASKED US TO PAY AT THE FRONT WHILE HE WAS DYING
+ Only took him out of the carrier once he was 'calm' and then when SURPRISINGLY HE WAS NO LONGER BREATHING, she left him again to ask us if we wanted to do CPR

We gave him to Bainsfield for care. Maybe it was his time but instead of letting us say goodbye, our cat died alone in his carrier in the room next to us, while we were instructed to go to the front desk and pay.

Do NOT go to bainsfield! Ever!

The staff is always welcoming, and friendly upon arrival. They take great care of my little Oliver. I recently had him neutered, and the experience couldn't have been smoother. I was informed of EVERYTHING, from how to prepare Oli the night before for surgery, to the in between fine details that we often wonder about. Of there was also after care visit information also.

We've taken our (100lb) dog here many times and she's undergone surgery and many other treatments and appointments here. We use the wellness plan which saves a lot of money if you come here somewhat regularly. With the wellness plan the prices are fairly reasonable but from what I've read, you must commit to a full year of the wellness plan and cancelling can be frustrating.

Although it seems the franchise is designed to push sales and it seems staff are encouraged to sell as many products and services as possible, the staff themselves are very caring and highly professional people. Unfortunately it seems there is a bit of a high turn over rate here and you have to wonder why it seems that so many amazing people leave this place.

I would rate the staff themselves 5 stars and the business model 3 stars.

Every time I take my dog to this location, everyone I meet is friendly, encouraging and kind. They are sweet with my dog, and quite caring. I moved a bit away from them (30 minutes), but decided to go back, because they were consistent with us (sweet dog and self). They are also responsive to calls and good with appointments, like being ready when I arrive, not 30-60 minutes later.

This location is horrible. First of all Miranda at the front desk is very unorganized. She failed to cancel my appointment which held me up for an hour and half at a different location after we moved. After that they managed to loose my pets urine sample and still weeks after they are ignoring my phone calls and refuse to get my refund for services not rendered. They poked my pet for a sample and was not even going to call me about it. I had to call them to even find out they lost my sample. They neglected my pet and fail to stand up to their mistakes. Ive been with banifield for about a year and a half now, and absolutely love the lake Oswego location, but please stay away from this location. Miranda and Emily at the front in particular are very unorganized and unprofessional.

I love taking my doggy to banfield, we are on the wellness plan and it couldn't be any better. I went to a vet without insurance for my fur baby and it was very expensive so I am glad they have monthly plans. The doctors are amazing and explain everything very well. Microchipping is only $35.00 and they pay for a year plan with the home again website.

I placed an order for prescription dog food twice through them. Twice my food was not there when they told me it would be. No notes on my account or anything to denote to employees what the situation was so they could let me know.
Each they've said that the special orders sometimes get placed on the shelves, which doesn't seem like great organization.
Maybe this place does other things well but in this regard every time I've used their business it's been extremely poor in regards to a service actually provided.
The employees are nice, so stars for that.

I hesitated going to Banfield when I got a new puppy simply because they're a franchise and I expected the service to be sub-par. However, when I found out my 8-week old pup hadn't had any shots or deworming done yet, my goal was to get him an appointment with a vet ASAP on a Saturday. I called several other veterinary clinics around Portland but was unable to get in for over a week anywhere, so then I caved and called Banfield and was able to get in the same day. Well, I can say I was definitely impressed by their quality of customer service and the kindness and sincerity of both the doctor and the technicians. They didn't try to "sell me" on their products as I had expected, but instead explained the cost difference between individual services and their puppy care plan. I've had plenty of pets in the past who have racked up vet bills like none other, so having the option to pay less than $40 a month to have everything medical covered for his first year was something of a godsend. I would highly recommend this Banfield clinic for puppy and/or dog care.

Don't take your pet here for important health concerns. This place is good for regular preventive health check-ups, otherwise the vets here don't really know what to do, they always want you to pay extra for useless/unrelated exams and to sign up for their wellness plan.

Their main goal is to sell you services rather than the health of your pet and I have a feeling this is a place for new vets out of school to go practice.

We took our Chihuahua here for teeth cleanings but when he got old and the heart condition was diagnosed, they didn't know what to exactly do. We ended taking him to another, well experience vet whom examined or dog and gave an accurate diagnosis within just a couple of appointments, so banfield, never again.

Friendly and helpful staff, convenient appointment times, and effective pet care. My pets have had several checkups and procedures over the years (one has Leukemia and the other has torn both CCL's) and I've always received wonderful service; you can tell they really care for my fur babies and that they're always in good hands when I take them in. I trust the doctors with my pets lives and they've proven time and again that they deserve it.

My dog ate quite a bit of sugar-free gum, I called first and they suggested to bring him in right away. When I brought him in, within 5 minutes the Dr. had Koa in her possession and handled my very difficult dog very well. 20 minutes later, I was met on-on-one with the Dr. (and a second person which looked like a student or Dr. in training) and very calmly and professionally, she explained what will happen on their end and what the possibilities were. It was reassuring but not at all sugar coated. She gave me the facts. Later, we found out the gum did not contain xylitol at all which is highly toxic for dogs, by the way. 1 Gram can kill a 12 lb dog in little as 30 minutes, but they lowered my bill because they did not need to run another glycemic test. They released my dog to me at the end of the day, at which time I paid ($350 for the IV, initial glycemic test, etc). which was hard to swallow but it otherwise would have been $500, I am really grateful they were so brave with my little terror :) and for respecting my money.

Aside from their prohibitive prices, I had an issue at this location: they make you sign something on the pad. When I asked what I was signing, I was told it was just a formality. I insist on reading what I was signing and they just explained me that I was allowing them to take care of my pets. Again, I didn't get to read anything. That might have been just a formality, but I ended up signing under pressure something that I didn't get to read.

My first visit was with Dr. Storm and he went out of his way to get me all the information I needed to move my pets abroad. He was wonderful and really took the time to go through the process with me. However, on my second visit 3 weeks later, the vet I saw didn't even know why I was coming and was already not super helpful. She was nice though.

During my first visit, the lovely lady at the front desk (that is not sarcasm) didn't ask me to update an address that I hadn't used in 10 years. They did the second time. Why didn't they do it the first time, I don't know but it makes you question the due process.

As for my last visit where I had to get some paperwork and had a question about the issue in the first paragraph, the lady was comically horrible. I don't mind rude people too much but that one was just laughably unpleasant, even before I started complaining. After waiting for a couple of minutes, she came out being busy with stuff and when I said Hello, she... hahahahha... I'm still laughing thinking about it... asked me "Can I help you" with a tone that sounded like I just had walked in her own living room, sat on her couch, snagged her glass of wine and started drinking from it. The rest of the conversation was as pleasant and she just seemed exceedingly annoyed by my presence (given that I was there to complain, this last part was more understandable). I proceed to cancel my next appointment (that seemed to satisfy her).

Again, if you can stomach their prices, there are decent chances to end up with a great vet and nice frontdesk person if not a bit unhelpful, but there a good chances as well you will end with people not only unhelpful but just straight up nasty (so much so that it might make you laugh actually, it was surreal).

PS: DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING THAT YOU CAN'T READ, even if it is just a "formality".

This week I had the terrible terrible misfortune of having to put our precious baby girl to sleep. We usually took her to the Banfield in Salmon Creek, WA but on this particular day they were full and had no availability. We noticed our little girl was in cardiac distress and we rushed her to the Uptown Location who said they could see her. The prognosis was quite poor: she was in cardiac arrest and was dying. The staff there was so compassionate and considerate, and really went out of their way to console me and my spouse who were quite distraught and inconsolable. The staff shed a tear or two along with us as we held her as she slipped away. After this experience with them I will always trust them with our pets as partners in their healthcare journey, at every stage.

This place is terrible they almost killed my cat and charged me thousands of dollars in the process and also told me he was dying and there was nothing they could do. Thankfully I went to a real vet who actually knows about Animal Health Care and all he needed was antibiotics. If I had listened to their advice my cat would not be here today. Do not do not I repeat do not take your animal here if you love him or her. They suggested Force feeding my cat when he was sick instead of giving him any medical treatment. All they did was an x-ray and give him fluids and it cost me thousands of dollars. They also killed my boss's dog. By the time she took her to a real vet she had sepsis and died I'm assuming she just needed antibiotics too. They need to go back to Veterinary College or quit their jobs.
