My dog ate quite a bit of sugar-free gum, I called first and they suggested to bring him in right away. When I brought him in, within 5 minutes the Dr. had Koa in her possession and handled my very difficult dog very well. 20 minutes later, I was met on-on-one with the Dr. (and a second person which looked like a student or Dr. in training) and very calmly and professionally, she explained what will happen on their end and what the possibilities were. It was reassuring but not at all sugar coated. She gave me the facts. Later, we found out the gum did not contain xylitol at all which is highly toxic for dogs, by the way. 1 Gram can kill a 12 lb dog in little as 30 minutes, but they lowered my bill because they did not need to run another glycemic test. They released my dog to me at the end of the day, at which time I paid ($350 for the IV, initial glycemic test, etc). which was hard to swallow but it otherwise would have been $500, I am really grateful they were so brave with my little terror :) and for respecting my money.
