Excellent vineyard to visit in the city of Calistoga in California! To access you pay a ticket which varies if the wine tasting is done later or not! The tour consists of a guided tour of the imposing medieval castle of Amorosa and the explanation of how the wine is made! In the basement of the same is the "bar" to make wine tastings and buy them, there also sell different types of food, spices and chocolates as well as souvenirs and souvenirs of the place! The castle has incredible views of the California vineyards! Beautiful walk and super recommended !!

Absolutely amazing and authentic experience. We did the Premier Guided tour which comes along with the wine tasting. The castle is beautiful and reflects the thought and hard work put in by the founder. The wines are simply delicious. In the wine tasting it works out well to go in a group, that way you can try several more wines.

I took my mom here for mothers day and she was SCREAMED at by an employee because she accidentally walked through the wrong door. She was silent the rest of the visit and her mother's day was pretty much ruined. Needless to say I am not overly impressed with this place.

The last tour starts at 4 PM, and we were a bit late for it. So we took the self guided tour and wine tasting. My experience probably would've been different had I been with the guided tour, but I had a pretty bad experience there.
The castle itself was impressive, but it was the staff that made the experience so bad. I interacted with one two people there - the guy selling the tickets, and guy pouring us wines at the wine tasting - and they made us feel unwelcome and as if we were in a place where we didn't belong. There wasn't a lot of crowd as it was a weekday afternoon, but I wanted to get out of there as soon as possible.
Also, the self guided tour isn't worth it. Most of the paths and rooms are closed for self guided tours, so you're limited to a small part of the castle, and there isn't much information on the castle or winery.

He was professional, fun, knowledgable and entertaining.... Those who go visit... Please don't forget to"tip" it's not about the money... Beautiful entrance and acres of vineyards as far as you can see. Castello di Amorosa is truly a sight to behold. You can take a group, kids, or all by yourself. Interior is full of history full of unforgettable features.

Really disappointed. Three girlfriends and I visited this place coming from the east coast. The place was beautiful the wine was great, the service for the MOST part was good except when we got to the wine tasting portion. The man serving the wine, Paolo, was incredibly rude. I m suspecting he figured we weren t going to purchase any bottles but little did he know each of us were planning on buying at least three bottles each. Whenever we would try to ask questions, he answered one to two word answers. Then two club members arrived and we had to practically beg to get service. It was unbelievable!! We wanted to love the place but this guy just ruined the experience for us. None of us will be returning, and we have already spread the word to family and friends not to bother going.

You know it, Castello di Amorosa comes up in every must-see list for wine country!
General admission is $30 with wine tasting included. There s an add-on option of $5 for Belgian chocolate pairing. If you get there before the crowd arrives, the sommelier is more than happy to give you generous pours. :P The castle has live animals and even a replicated torture chamber. This castle is also very photogenic, you IG addicts will definitely love it!

Disappointing experience!!! I was so excited and happy coming in, but it became a torture and full of negativity as soon as we walked in! EXTREMELY RUDE employees- especially Lisa, very pushy about everything as if you are on their time or you are the service provider. Everything we asked with a smile, we got a negative answer.
Ex. 1. May I take a picture of the bottle I just tasted? - No, we don t sell it anywhere, bottle names are on the menu (The same menu that Lisa kept trying to remove asking at the same time if we re done) They want you to get in and out, buy bottles at the end.
2. Do you sell bottles that we can age and open in 10 years? - People here buy already aged bottles and here are the prices.
3. Negative attitude and rolling eyes of the representative is not what I wanted to experience in my first time in Napa
Please go elsewhere, there s no kindness in this place!
This business does not belong in Napa Valley and the whole idea of it is not for a good experience but to Sell-Sell-Sell! Felt like a Car Dealership!

Here s the thing. The castle is nice, and it is a great Napa attraction. PLEASE MIND, the castle is not old, or historical. It s been built 15 years ago. It is a good background for Instagram/Selfies especially on sunny/clear sky days. BUT BEWARE of the TOURS. DO NOT BOOK THE TOURS. The tours are a rip off. You can tour the castle on your own and later do the wine tastings. The torture chambers are just rooms with stuff they bought from eBay. No one was tortured in these rooms well, you can actually say we were tortured. We took the guided tour yesterday. Our guide Audi was unprofessional, rude, and he knew about wine what you can read on Wikipedia and he rushed the 2-hour tour to a point I lost the group and he didn t let anyone call for me. He also held a MONSTER can in his hand the entire tour, and looked all irritated, full of caffeine, almost as we disturbed him. He did not give time to take photos. When we arrived, we asked to go to the restrooms, but he did not wait, he said catch up with us . Later he asked the group a few questions about wine, and when we didn t know to answer he said: you guys really don t know a lot, do you! . DUH! That s what you are here, you arrogant smug. When I confronted him about his bad behavior, he said I am interfering with the group and called his manager. He did not even have the courtesy to apologize. Do yourselves a favor and AVOID THESE TOURS especially AUDI. Castle Nice, Tours BAD, REALLY BAD EXPERIENCE. Thank God for his manager, Sam, who at least had the courtesy to treat us nicely.

I don't drink wine but I went with a friend to see the property and to taste the wine. We met Xavier who did an amazing wine tasting and he picked some wine he thought I would like since I don't drink wine. Well he did so well I fell in love with 2 different wine which I bought 1 of each. It's an amazing property!

The castle is amazing to be less than 20 years old. Jamie made our tour more interesting! Tasting tour prices start at $45 per person and takes 1.5 to 2 hours. There is more to see before or after the tour so wait to complete your purchases in the shop until you are ready to leave.

Yes, of course it s very beautiful location but .. eh I don t recommend it. This was my first time to the general Napa area and I was underwhelmed. The castle is built modern day to simulate Tuscany, there are many interns there from different countries coming just to learn the process. But... the wine tasting was just soooo unorganized and chaotic?!
We went to a separate tasting room that also has tables for children. A woman brought us over and only allowed us to have 1 sheet of paper for 2 people to choose the wines, which is fine. But, decided to take us to a different room - she brought us over to another man, Alejandro and he started yelling at her saying she s killing him she doesn t make any sense kids are not allowed over here. Our group of 6 adults we were all starring at each other like what is going on right now? He totally rushed us through our tasting, kept switching our choices and giving me things I did not like - sweet moscatos blah! A different server maybe would have made a difference. $30 for general admission and a tasting I think is totally fair. Otherwise $45 for a guided tour, and $20 of you don t want a tasting.
The animals outside as you exit were nice to watch/look at.

The grounds are beautiful and worth the short drive up the hill. Be aware this is a busy vineyard and tourist attraction. It is the Medieval Times of wine country and although it s a gorgeous view there isn t anything special or charming about this place. Wouldn t waste $30-45 per tasting and an average of $34-48 per wine bottle at this location we tasted better wine nearby.

Zero stars. You advertise as a winery but imposed admission fees... you literally cannot come here and just have a glass of wine (NOT ALLOWED) you have to pay the admission to even get in. Just in case you plan on bringing your children or your designated drive, BEWARE all who enter must pay. Plus in case you want to eat- you have to upgrade to be a member, can t just go in and order a cheese plate( a standard at most wineries). Much better places just down the road, good luck.

Amazing winery Castle, the views are truly one of a kind in the area. A lot to see, take pictures and walk with family and friends. The wine tasting room is like a true man cave, big and full of goodness, and the service was unique. They took the time to explain the process and how we can become members. As a member we can be part of the special events/parties which it sounds fun.
The wine was good, specially the Fantacy wine.
Can t wait to get back again.

Castle is nice. Wish there was a different entry option just to visit the castle. Paid $55 for 4 tasting glasses of grape juice. The odd thing is they sell sparkling grape juice and other non alcoholic drinks. But only serve the one kind of grape juice.

Absolutely wonderful place to checkout. If you love history, architecture, and of course wine, you will fall in love with this beautiful castle. I highly recommend taking the tour as it is extremely informative and eye opening. Plus the tour guide, Marianne really made the tour so much more special. You can feel the gusty coursing off the walls. I don t suggest wearing heels ladies. The walkways are all stone and it will get painful quickly. There s even a little far with chickens, emus, goats, and others when you are leaving. I would give it more stars if I could.

I wanted to stop in and purchase a bottle of their sparkling red wine that is so unique (and not sold in stores) but when I tried to enter the gift shop from above and at ground level, I was told I needed a general admission ticket! I have done numerous tastings, brought family to tours there etc. I think it is absolutely ridiculous that I was escorted out like a trespasser when simply trying to purchase an item from the shop. It was a weird and embarrassing procedure. Sad to say after all these years of visits that I will not be back. Get it together and support the patrons that would like to purchase items from your gift shop.

in Napa Valley is truly a unique and amazing castle completed in 2007.
It s the only authentic medieval Italian Tuscan castle and winery built in America.
The Alfresco paintings @thecastello inside the chapel are truly beautiful, fascinating art.
The Tuscan castle in California cost forty million dollars when completed, it is a wonderful structure in Napa Valley.

Castello di Amorosa is a fabulous place. We took a guided tour of the castle followed by wine tasting. Our guide was very informed and we had a wonderful time tasting and rating wines. There is a lot of history and love in this place. We were shown the wine press, the barrels, a medieval torture chamber, stately castle halls, and lots of wine collection. There are different kinds of tours, so check their website for prices and to see which tour would match your interest.

The wine is great & the castle is fun. But the customer service sucks. The entire staff is snotty. The barista was clueless to basic company information & manufacturing of the wine. We practically had to beg to try different wines & were immediately pushed out by a bigger group.
Plus the tasting occur in the basement?! It's like they just want to take your money & push you out as fast as they can.
My husband & I were on our honeymoon & this was our first vineyard stop in all of California... I felt ripped off & disappointed at the end of it all.
Go to Sterling across the street. You get a lot more for your money over there.

Horrible customer service... I decided to take a few of my out of state friends out to NAPA/Sonoma county. Every where we went we met nice friendly people, we decided to check the castle since they had a 10th anniversary event, no where in the website did it say reservations we required. When we got there we were greeted by a rude lady who said reservations were required so we left... I ve never had this type of mistreatment not customer service I. Sonoma/NAPA county. Will not visit ever again!

We visited and toured several wineries during our stay in Wine Country. We enjoyed all of them but Castello Di Amorosa was our favorite by far. It was so much fun and I think this was primarily due to our guide Zachary. I heard each couple/family commenting on how much fun they had on their way out.
I see comments about not liking the wines but we pretty much liked each one we tasted. We purchased 4 different bottles. And if you like chocolate definitely upgrade your tasting to add chocolate...delicious. They don't distribute to stores so you can only buy their wine from them. I can see why people call it a tourist trap but if you take the tour and listen to the story of the castle being built I don't think it is. It's a man who loves Italian architecture and he wanted to share his love for it in the U.S. We would definitely come back and request a tour with Zachary again!!

A great castle which is one hour away from San Fransisco. It is a beautiful castle good for one day trip. Inside the Castle they have many tour options and the price varies for all the tours. I took the tour without the guide, per ticket they have some limited wine tasting options (exact no. I don't remember, I guess it was 5). One of the drawback is that some areas were restricted only for the tour package. So if you plan to take a ticket without the tour you cannot visit those places. I also got some chocolates from there. They have good collection of the chocolates. If you like getting pictures clicked, you'll find many spots for that. They have an old church inside the castle and also a room where they play the documentary for the place. Well, the another drawback which I found was the long toilet queue. It was really very long.
