I am currently a temp for Whitman Associates, Inc. I am in an in-between place right now figuring out where I want to work post earning my doctorate. This was the first company to get back to me when I applied on their website, within a week I was all signed up, paperwork filled out and ready to go. I signed up early November but I had to be out of town from Nov. 13-15, she already had jobs for me but worked with my schedule. She really cares. Rachel makes sure you get paid weekly, even when I lost my time sheet, she made sure I got paid. She will even call you if there are any questions she has to make sure you get paid. Diana is also great, she makes sure to follow up with job opportunities as well. Point is that everyone at Whitman does their best to make sure you get a solid temp job. After returning from my Peace Corps service in Guatemala in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, I found myself in the job hunt after months abroad. I had my interview with Diana, who was professional and easy to talk to. She said she would call back as soon as there was a position that I would be a good fit for. I have used Whitman Associates exclusively since the mid-70's. Not only do they only send you excellent, well-qualified candidates, but they are not pushy (like some other recruiters). They thoroughly screen and vet their applicants and only refer the most qualified candidates with the most relevant work experience, thus saving an enormous amount of time for the prospective employer. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
Back in January, I went through the normal steps of working with a staffing agency: a quick phone interview, an in-person interview with several people on staff, and completion of some basic software testing from home.
I have received zero contact from Whitman Associates over the past 2 months.
Based on the multitude of other positive reviews, I still believe this staffing firm would be a great choice for those in the DMV area--everyone on staff was very kind and professional, but any sort of heads-up that I was not being considered for positions through the agency would have been appreciated.

1. Julie got me an interview within days of our initial interview. Our interview was within days of my application to Whitman. The entire process was smooth moving and easy. She also worked with me to help a friend who was moving to the area and connected her with work within a week of arriving in the city.
2. So many temp agencies feel like cheap used car lots, I never got that impression from Whitman. Julie and Kim make meaningful placements where they think you will actually succeed rather than just shoving you in a random law office as a secretary to be talked at. My placement has been great- I've learned valuable skills that are transferable throughout my career (google analytics and grant writing!) and my friend has been placed in an international development office working with senior USAID officials (straight up her alley- the perfect location for her).
3. I know 4 people who have obtained permanent positions from their Whitman Temp Jobs. You aren't just heating a seat, you're working for agencies where they want you to succeed so you can eventually join the team.

My experience with Whitman Associates, Inc. was my first with a staffing agency and I am not sure anyone could provide a better experience. I originally found them online and decided it was worth a try since I was looking for a temp position. I followed the directions provided to email in my resume and follow-up with a phone call. I was immediately scheduled for an interview just a few days later (due to my own schedule being full). The appointment was really smooth and straightforward. I met with Denise who was an absolute pleasure to interview with. The entire meeting was very professional while feeling very conversational. She went over my background with me, asked about various computer skills and shared next steps and the process on their end. After consulting with her colleagues, I briefly met with Michaela who confirmed my availability and the next steps. That afternoon I took a series of brief computer-based competency tests (word, powerpoint, excel & spelling/grammar) and the very next morning I started getting calls from Whitman Associates with different offers.

Whitman Associates is the bomb.com! :-) I was out of work for 6 months, and before that I had been with my last employer for 20+ years, so it had been a long time since I had to interview for a job. I signed up with three temp agencies before Whitman, none of which scheduled an in-person meeting with me. Instead they told me to download an app and search/apply for positions. Needless to say, I went on zero interviews this way. Whitman met with me personally and made me feel like they really had my best interest in mind. I sent my resume in on Wednesday--Called on Thursday--Interviewed with Kim on Monday--Interviewed for the job on Tuesday--and GOT the job on Wednesday!!! After about two months of job hunting, it only ended up taking a couple of days once I found the right agency for me! I was set up in a temp position w/ $15 pay initially and that position has transitioned into a full-time/full benefit position that I'm very excited about! Kim and Julie were very helpful whenever I had a question and responded by phone or email the same day. I would highly recommend Whitman Associates.

They are seriously awesome! I moved back to DC to find a permanent, full time position as I recently graduated from college. Within a few hours from my initial interview, they confirmed a great temporary position with an outstanding consulting firm. Each day, they contact you with more assignments! After a few short days, they set me up with a permanent position with a great salary and benefits. The other good reviews made me go see them, and they really do live up to their word. Finding a permanent job in Washington after a week is very very hard to come by, but they know how to do it!
My primary career is in the entertainment business but I rely on temping assignments to make ends meet when I am in between gigs.

If asked to describe Whitman Associates with one word I would choose "advocate" because I always feel that the agency is looking out for my best interests. They find appropriate jobs that match my skills set, ensure their client is satisfied and then check to make sure I am happy with the match as well. Not every agency cares about the temp satisfaction level as much as the client's, but I have found one who does!

I graduated from college in May 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic cut my senior year short and totally threw a wrench in my post-grad job applications. Luckily, I came across Whitman Associates while searching for opportunities online. I immediately submitted my resume and received an invitation to interview within a couple of days! I had my interview with Diana, who was so professional and easy to talk to. She told me that she would call back as soon as she found a position that I might be a good fit for, and within 3-4 days she called back to let me know that there was a temporary position available with a global health care non-profit. It was a very quick turn around from my resume being submitted to my officially being hired and starting, but Whitman was there for me every step of the way. Julie became my primary contact for the position and was an excellent liaison between myself and the non-profit. Toward the end of my first week, she called to check in with me and see how I was doing/if there was anything she could help me with.

I have had the luxury of having secretarial and administrative support for more than 35 years, and have always insisted on the best, because after all, that person is an extension of what I do. From running multi-million dollar corporations, to a small nonprofit, the criteria is the same. So, when I needed a temporary assistant for the week of our nonprofit gala, I called Whitman Associates, Inc. in Washington and happened to speak with their VP of Marketing. I told her what I needed, and what that person would be doing. Now, while I would ordinarily want to interview that person in advance, Julie told me that she had the perfect person, so I relied on her. When Rachel arrived, she immediately dug in with smarts, efficiency, and initiative. She needed very little direction and no supervision. Julie was right. I recommend Whitman Associates highly and I will never use anyone else in Washington other than Whitman Associates. They are, quite simply, the best.

After about 6 months of temping in Arlington, VA the position led to a full-time, salary paid position (with amazing benefits I might add).
