Whitman - Walker is a fraudulent medical clinic. They pretend to care but it's all about how to get more money from you. I'm from a small Kansas town, I got better care there than I ever did when I was at WW! The reason I chooses WW is because they serve the LGBT community, I'm a gay man, I thought they would understand, I was wrong. I had to do their job which is unacceptable!!!!!

I have full confidence in them overseeing my overall health. Full physical, mental health and pharmacy services. Important, the physical and mental health departments work together. My only gripe is parking around 14th & Q NW is hell. Oh, and the pharmacy can take hours sometimes.

Pharmacy lost my insurance paperwork. I have an upcoming surgery that I dropped off prescriptions for and not only did one of my Rx s get lost in the system but they misplaced my insurance paperwork. I eventually saw a tech stumble upon my papers in a random bin beneath the counter.

I've been trying to get a COVID test at WW for two weeks since I live close by. The first couple of tries, my calls dropped on their end and on two occasions I left messages. Someone finally got back to me on Wednesday and sent me forms to complete and submit, which I did.

On Friday, I received a call and was asked if I still wanted a test. When I responded that I did I was told that the paperwork that I submitted wasn't uploaded and they would get back to me. It's now Saturday and I haven't heard anything. Absolutely frustrating.

While my primary care physician is great, and Whit...

While my primary care physician is great, and Whitman-Walker's services in general are very good, DO NOT get your prescriptions filled at Whitman-Walker Pharmacy, it's a disaster. I've refilled my prescriptions 5 times there, and out of those 5 occasions they have a 100% screw-something-up rate, with those screw-ups ranging from minor time-wasting annoyances (like sending me the wrong quantity) to glaring oversight.

I have to get my prescriptions mailed to me because I live outside DC, and on 2 of the 5 occasions they have just straight up forgotten to ship it out, for no real reason besides human error. On the second occasion I submitted my prescriptions for renewal 2 weeks before my current supply ran out. After 9 days with no updates I called to ask when it would be delivered. The guy told me it had already shipped, and gave me the date it would be delivered. It never arrived, so I called again and the woman who answered said they had never shipped it out because they didn't have my credit card info. This could only have been a lie, because just 48 hours prior they had already charged me for 1 of the 3 prescriptions being renewed in that shipment (the charge had already showed up on my online statement). She also claimed that they had tried to contact me about it, but I had no record in my missed calls or voicemail of them calling.

I submitted a formal complaint to Whitman-Walker's administration the first time the pharmacy forgot to mail me my prescription, and although I got two apologetic phone calls, evidently they've done nothing to improve the system, so I've arranged to have my prescriptions transferred to a different pharmacy.

I am really disappointed with the inefficient service that this pharmacy offers, my ophthalmologist sent a prescription and after 5 days I have not received my eye medication today I went back and they told me that it was still on the way, they are ineffective and they are playing with patients' health

I gave them enough opportunities to redeem themselves but they failed every time. I thought switching clinics would be a pain but I finally decided to do it.
In comparison, I can now see that WW are WAY behind. Save yourself the trouble, anger of waiting, and most of it, the time. This place is just not worth it.

Terrible customer service, they never deliver medications on time. The staff never knows whats going on, there is no accountability and seemingly no oversight to the daily tasks at the establishment. Ive have yet to receive a delivery on time and at best its 1 day late usually 2 or 3. Horrible service and horrible experience using them, im just wasting my money it seems like.

The level of care I have received here has been overall quite good. I've liked all of the doctors and nurses here I've had interactions with. However, the administrative or office staff is quite poor in what they do.

Whenever I make a phone call and have to leave a voicemail I rarely receive a response back. When I do talk to someone they speak so quietly I can barely understand what they're saying, and often times they're simply rude.

Once I canceled an appointment with someone over the phone and was told I would hear back from someone in a few days to reschedule it. Two weeks go by, I call back, and I'm told that the original appointment hasn't even been canceled.

Their whole system for making appointments honestly sucks, the people who work at the desks are very unresponsive and cold, and overall it's just not the best experience.

I would not recommend you try to get a COVID test here, over an hour on the phone, disconnected 3 times and then the new patient links they sent us had DocuSign errors that said contact the sender, we told them and they said to try the link again tomorrow.

My issue is with the pharmacy. It is so slow. I don't know why they have 4 stations but always have 2 staff members.11/2017 and it's another slow day at the pharmacy.

It's now 1/4/17 and I'm still annoyed by this place. When you call, the people who answer the phone seems like they don't wanna talk. I also hate how when you see your doctor and have the next appointment in 3 months, they don't let you make the appointment, you have to wait until the 3 months to get notified, when you get the time to call to make that appointment, your doctor appointment schedule is FULL and you have to now wait another month before you can see your doctor. And as a prep patient I am required to see the doctor every 3 months, oh well. And if you miss that appointment you are just gonna wait another month to see the doctor because his schedule is always full. I just can't.

9/10/18 was at Howard hospital on a referral from Whitman Walker and I tried calling Whitman Walker for over an hour to get my referral faxed over to Howard and nobody picked up . Missed my appointment. Terrible service.

I wish there was a better option for trans-affirming healthcare in the DMV. The doctors are good- if you can get in to see one. But it's so incredibly hard to get in touch with them. I get the sense that they generally don't care what happens to their trans patients, and we're mostly left to try to work through their system and fend for ourselves. If you're not good at self-advocating, then you're probably not going to have a good time. They see you- they just don't care.

If you are looking to establish a long-term relationship with a physician, this is not the place to go. It seems like just another private clinic focused on churning through volumes of patients. My personal experience with Dr. Leon was reflective of my perception of the clinic itself (focused on churning through patients rather than listen to concerns, etc).

I came to Whitman Walker 15 months ago for treatment as a Transgender woman. From the reception to the nurses to the PA (Barbara Lewes) that I saw was an awesome experience. Outstanding service and the caring factor was wonderful, Thank you all for being there and serving the community the way you do. You all are the most positive part of my journey.

Overall, WWH and Pharmacy isn t that great! It is always inconvenient to schedule an appointment to see my doctor. They do not accommodate the working people in regards to flexibility and time. And when I do get an appointment, it is rushed and impersonal. With each visit, new unnecessary medications are being added to my list. I refuse to be a walking pharmacy. In addition to that, the Pharmacy is EXTREMELY slow and never have all medications in stock, which is another inconvenience. I am strongly considering switching to a different medical provider.

This seems like a great place for gender-affirming care if your time is worthless and you have no self-respect. After wasting a month just trying to *schedule* an intake, I am done. I expect some degree of incompetence from LGBT clinics (due to underfunding, understaffing, etc.), but good lord!

I was seen 3 weeks ago and given a referral for physical therapy. I was told "you will be contacted". Needless to say, 3 weeks later, and I haven't heard a thing.

I called the front desk twice and all they could tell me is "they are working on it". These guys are clueless and act like you're inconveniencing them with your basic calls and questions.

Go somewhere else for your primary care. This place is pathetic.

This clinic has great doctors, pa's and nurses, but their infrastructure, scheduling policies, and administrative staff are terrible.

The first time I tried to make an appointment, I was quoted a 2 month wait time. I was a little put out, but figured that a new patient appointment might require more time than usual for physicals or lab results or something.

My appointment was for 8 am. I was told to arrive 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork. When I arrived, the clinic was closed because they apparently close any time the federal government does, and they had closed because of metro delays or something. Still, I had managed a trek there at 7:30 in the morning. I get a call at 9:45 am telling me that my appointment was cancelled because of government closure and I would have to call in to reschedule. Over two hours from the time that I was asked to show up. This government closure was scheduled since at least 5pm the previous evening, but no one thought to call and tell their early morning patients that their appointments would be cancelled.

So, even more put out and frustrated, I call in and try to make another appointment. The receptionist had absolutely no sympathy for the issues of the previous day. He offered another appointment for 7 weeks later. It's now going to take nearly 4 months to get in for a new patient appointment. Annoyed, I take it.

Fast forward a few months. I had managed to get to the appointment without government cancellations and the like, and I enter the building for the first time to try and find my doctor. I go to the second floor staff desk and ask there. I get a snarky response from the rude receptionist. "Yeah, she's not on this floor." And then he turned away and LEFT! Ok...so I go up a floor and ask there. Luckily the receptionist there was much nicer and was able to direct me to the right place. The doctor's appointment was awesome. The nurses, and doctor were friendly, funny, and absolutely amazing at making me comfortable. I figure the delay has been worth it, and hopefully now that I'm an established patient I will be able to get in quicker. I have a prescription for my inhaler filled and leave.

Fast forward again and it's the summer. I had a pretty bad asthma attack during a race, and my inhaler ran out. I'm stressed because I have another race the next weekend and no more inhaler in case I have an attack, I ask to make an appointment. The nearest available date for an appointment is in a month. I tell them that my inhaler is out and that I was scared to compete without having it. I ask if I could get it refilled by having it called into a pharmacy and the receptionist said no, that I had to have an appointment since it was so long since I had gotten it. So I begrudgingly accept the appointment.

I get a call 2 weeks before my appointment, telling me that they actually scheduled me on the day that my doctor can't take me, so I would have to reschedule. Again. They had no sympathy for me and didn't seem to care that I had to deal with THEIR mistakes, and the next appointment they can give me is 5 weeks away. That's it. I'm done.

Admittedly, there is one really rude receptionist that I always get when I call in. His attitude is definitely NOT something that helps patients, as he always seems to imply that you are wasting his time, and speaks to you scathingly. He never offers solutions, only problems. I think his name is Michael, but no guarantees. Maybe the other receptionists are great...but that one has terrible customer service and is really bringing down this location.

I wish I could go back here, but apparently they are so busy they don't have time for their patients.

Whitman Walter provides important services but expect to spend several hours for routine tests (e.g. Tuesday and Thursday HIV testing can last more than 4 hours from start to finish). Most of the time is spent sitting and waiting. They have a good amount of funding (occupying a new office in prime DC real estate) but they don't have enough staff nor do they seem to have an efficient process for moving clients through.

I very rarely leave reviews, but when I do there is a reason. In three years of having my prescriptions filled at Whitman Walker, I cannot recall a time when I went to the pharmacy and my prescription was ready as promised. Either they forget to fill them, they never run the insurance, they didn t fill them correctly, etc. there is always an excuse. The pharmacy front-line employees NEVER think out of the box for a solution; they just shrug. I ve only returned here each month because I feel obligated to support a clinic that s done great things for the community. However, after my last experience ,where my doctor ordered my prescription on January 2nd and I went to pick it up on the 7th and it wasn t ready, I reached my boiling point. When asked why It wasn t ready, on cue the Pharmacy tech simply shrugged his shoulders. This place is both dysfunctional and incompetent. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Terrible service. Borderline discriminatory towards people with existing diagnoses and have patient history with them. Was told I had to get a referral before I could schedule another appt for a diagnosis that last for life and has the same treatment. Basically, I have to stop my own medical treatment because they have their own red tape to get through. They ve gone downhill over the last several years. 0/5 stars, will never give them my business or refer people to them.

what s with the staff on the 5th floor being rude. here bc i m sick and was told to come in today but after traveling 2 hours into the city via VRE - i m told i have to wait 2.5 hours and can t even see my own doctor. but the nice little chuckle from the one of the ladies as she walks away makes me feel waaaay better . have no choice but to wait. - meanwhile kevington is over here going back and forth with me over a pen not working . really - i asked do you feel better now after her pointing out that a pen has ink when i m having vision problems. her question back do you feel better now? no literally why i m here in the first place , is because i don t feel good not to win an argument over whether a pen has ink or not.
is this a joke

UPDATE 4.5 hours still here

Another update : STILL HERE
5 different trips to different floors, had to leave the building 3 times and come back, another 2 trips to the pharmacy bc an order wasn t sent and had to wait since doc was busy and now i m waiting in line at the pharmacy .

i don t ever want to be part of this place again

Julio who is staff in the front desk was extremely rude with me. I explained him that i need to see doctor asap. Since I m new patient, i needed to see public benefit first. Julio told me that it may take to wait about 45-60 min. After i waited for over an hour, I asked him when can i see public health. He said I don t know but also he said that i was not able to see doctor. I didn t need to wait for an hour if I knew I was not going to see doctor today! Eventually, Julio said to me to leave the hospital! What kind of customer service is this!!! Terrible! Wait of time!
