Absolutely, l love Patty and Donna! We have been going there for years and they are always friendly and it always feels personal and welcoming. They know us by first name and we always have a great laugh with them. They have even spoiled our dog so now she knows where we are and what will happen and gets so excited.

I am not sure why but once a month they miss picking my recycle items up, I have to call and have them get someone to come back and pick it up I am not sure how they can miss it I put it right next to the trash can. They pick up the trash, but claim they don't see the recycle can. It is impossible for them not to see the recycle can it is twice the size of the trash can???????

I put my trash can out every Sunday afternoon. I have had to call dispatch several times to let them know my trash wasn't picked up. When they call the driver, he says it wasn't out by 7:00 am. Obviously he doesn't look because it's always out there! The dispatcher told me they would be here later today to pick it up, but if it happens again they would charge Me! How is this my fault and how dare them say I will be charged if they don't see the trash can out where I put it! This is getting ridiculous now. Going to look for reviews on other trash service companies to see if they offer better service and not blame the customer for the driver's stupidity.

I give it an okay because they do come and pick up our trash and recycling. One thing that really bothers me though, is their recycling schedule. Here in Boulder, recycling only gets picked up once every-other week. You know how long it takes a college house to fill up a recycling bin? Far less than two weeks, even less than one. And in a college town like Boulder that is full of college houses, thirsty kids, and hippies who want to recycle but can't fit half of their recyclables in the bin...tsk tsk. Disappointing.

I don't understand the sour reviews. I use Western Disposal for both my home and business. They offer wonderful customer service and have for years. If there's a problem, they fix it. If you need information, they provide it. I think they always go above and beyond in their efforts to help and that is why I give them a 5 star rating!!!

Since starting service later 1999, I only have had a need to call the firm twice. BOTH times, I found the conversation cordial and the issue resolved.

There are some odd reviews accusing them of being in the mob and making pricing up as they go. Seriously? Forgettaboutit. Possibly those complaining have the chronic overflowing containers, and loads of stuff just left on the ground for the collection driver to deal with. I doubt any home with the proper occupancy has had any issue with trash and recycle collection.

Five stars because they take care of any issue. Anyone can be great until there is a problem that needs addressing.

This is one of those services that are essential to basic civilization as are basic public utilities. Look at countries that have no sanitation and haphazard trash collection, if any.

I am so happy we have a private company, and not a municipal trash / recycle collection program.

Contractors watch out Western now measures their cubic yards quite small. The price of their compost has nearly doubled in the last week and no more discounts for contractors. For disposal service Erie landfill might be worth the trip.

For the past few months they have billed me 5 dollars extra saying they had to take too much trash from my yard. My contract indicated one trash can and two extra bags. I never had more than that infront of my house.
I contacted them several times and they continued their dishonest practices. Today I had seven bags in front of my house for the first time this season due to cleaning my leaves in my yard. They didn't take any of the bags.
I find this company dishonest and incompetent.

Terrible service. I had to call THREE times to get them to come by and pick up a hot tub cover on the curb. Pick up was scheduled for trash collection day, and I come home from work and it's still on the curb. I call to speak with someone and receive no apology and hear that the excuse was that the driver "didnt see it." I know this was a lie as I had it literally leaning up againts my garbage receptacle.

Our trash man was abusive and thought he was the trash Gestapo. He threw tantrums and threw cans around because we were told the wrong schedule by customer service when we set up service. He left nasty notes on my cans and would leave the trash behind because I was told the wrong weeks for recycling by cust serv. He abused my movers and yelled at them when they asked him to move a few feet so they could get the moving truck in the driveway. Out of 3 weeks of service he only picked up my trash once. I refuse to pay for such a lack of service!

Terrible service. Missed either our trash or recycling for several weeks, suddenly started taking recycling every other week which is very inconvenient and not what i agreed to when i signed up for the service or payed the bill. they also misspelled my name and failed to change it even after i sent a letter with my bill and called to explain. If i could take back all the money i spent to have trash piled up in my driveway i would. don't use western disposal services!

We got married at a venue where we had to bring everything in. We called Kevin Afflerbaugh at Western Disposal to help us figure out how many trash/recycling/compost receptacles and bags we would need with our guest count as well as if we would need a dumpster. He was extremely knowledgable and very helpful in all accounts. It was very easy and stress free. It was great to get to do almost a zero-waste wedding using one service! Thank you very much to Western Disposal and Kevin for helping out! We really appreciated it!

Im highly upset at your customer service and way of dealing with the public. Victoria (in billing) is a very rude and inconsiderate human. i called to contest a bill and her only reply was that I was a liar. This obviously set me off. No fees are shown anywhere on our paper work or on the recording that we have from your company that mattresses are $33 per on pick up. This is a very cruddy way to treat a client. Surprise charges and being called a liar will make any ones head spin. If an employee of mine was to treat anyone like this it would be immediate termination. I will be spreading this message EVERYWHERE!

Not sure where all these positive reviews are coming from but I wouldn't doubt it if Western Disposal writes their own reviews or pays a PR firm to write them. Anyways, just avoid this company if at all possible, as they have the rudest customer service representatives I've ever experienced in my life. Go ahead and choose this company if you want to constantly get yelled at by Western Disposal's angry black women, ehem... I mean their customer service representatives, when Western Disposal repeatedly screws up your billing. Go ahead and choose this company if you want to pay to not have your trash picked up when it's supposed to be, week after week after week. I can't tell you how many times I had to take time out of my busy day to call Western Disposal and deal with billing issues or my trash not being picked up only to be yelled at on the phone by their "customer service reps," who tried to make it seem like it was my fault for the company's mistakes. Just find another trash removal company unless you want to deal with a lot of headaches and wasted time. Their entire customer service department should be fired and replaced with people who have the ability to empathize and solve problems without being argumentative or insulting. This company is an utter joke, so unprofessional and incompetent... just stay away.

Inconsistent pricing, watch out!

Inconsistent pricing, watch out!

I took two small trailer loads of construction debris on the weekend of 5/6. With the first load, the gentleman at the window agreed that it was construction debris and charged me per weight - about $35. A few hours later I took an even smaller load of construction debris and this time it was a woman at the window and she informed me that I could not declare it construction debris because there was a ceiling fan in the load and that I would have to pay the "load price" of $66. I offered to drop the fan to the side and pick it back up on my way out and she informed me that if I wanted to do that I would have to go back to the end of the 30-minute line to get in. This load by weight would have been $25-$30 tops but I had to pay the $66. I guess construction debris doesn't include items that you replaced during your construction. Very dissatisfied with their policies but felt like I didn't have any choice as I had already waited in line for 30 minutes.

Can you say "M-O-N-O-P-O-L-Y?" I have no specific complaints about customer service from Western Disposal at this time. My primary issue is the cost. The rates are outrageous, and there is simply no other option for residential, weekly trash pickup that I am aware of. When you have no other option but to use one service, and they can therefore charge you whatever they want, well you get a little annoyed. Every three months I get an $80 bill from them, but it certainly feels more frequent than that. I am one person living in a home and barely put out any trash at all, but they have no other minimum bin size to suit my minimal trash output. Very high rates, mediocre service.

I was inspired to write this review due to all of the whiny, entitled reviews I saw on here!! Grow up, people, if your garbage is overflowing every week, just stop buying and throwing out so much cheap junk and prepackaged foods! Don't blame your poor driver, they work really hard and put up with a lot! Hats off to all the drivers I've met, they have all been really nice considering their workload.

Tip: If you plan to drive near Valmont & Butte Mill Rd, you can pull in and drop off your compost, recycling and cardboard for free! We do this whenever we clean our vehicles out

We don't have residential service right now, but when we had Western service in Gunbarrel we never had any trouble or complaints. We'd occasionally have some big cardboard boxes broken down flat and stuffed between the cans, and our driver always took them for us. If we had ridiculous amounts of trash due to moving or spring cleaning, we'd do a "dump run" ourselves, not leave 5-10 bags for the trash guy to deal with. Once, we left out 2 extra big bags and put special stickers on them and he took them, no problem.

I've taken loads of brush from our yard to Western and was charged like $3 due to the light weight!! Super reasonable!!

Also love that they are open Saturdays until 2 pm. You may wait in line, but you don't need to take time out of your weekday to do a dump run.

I have been a commercial and residential customer for 28 years and Western has never failed in their service. After the 2013 flood they came through with flying colors. Every employee, from the drivers to the people at the transfer station and the office staff has been friendly, professional and efficient. Western gets all the stars!

Terrible customer service. This company will keep charging you even after you cancel your account and pay your remaining balance in full. Furthermore, their trash collection services are horrible. I cannot count how many times my trash was not picked up on the scheduled date because the trash man "forgot" to pick up the trash. I cannot say enough bad things about this company. Stay away!

My credit card number changed, and the online payment system is so convoluted I tried twice to change it and neither time worked. So then they decided to stop picking up my trash. The customer service lady was unapologetic, as if I was deliberately trying to continue using the service without paying. No offer to help or to pick up the unpicked up trash - just an accusatory attitude like it was my problem...

Oh, and the new bear proof trash cans are a nightmare. They weigh a million pounds, are top heavy, are a pain to open - thumbs down!

This is really a sleazy, unpleasant bunch of folks. If you have a choice, use someone else. They've been given a monopoly in my neighborhood, which means they don't feel any incentive to be nice, responsive or honest. Let your commissioner's office know how you feel for when their franchise comes up for review.

The clerks operating the scale will not tell you what rate they are charging. I had a fence with a few painted boards (like, maybe 5% of my total load), and I was charged the highest rate possible. It feels like they enjoy ripping you off. It's their little power. I wish there were an option for zero stars.

Terrible customer service. We moved to the area recently and multiple times in a row they skipped our recycling bin (on their scheduled pick up days, not a holiday) and other pick-up materials. Customer service didn't do a thing to contact the people picking up the waste and didn't try to solve the problem. Save yourself the headache and go with anyone else in the area since they will actually remove your trash and recycling. When we first moved in, the previous company, Waste Management, picked up everything, no questions asked. This was a waste of money even if we canceled after a short period of time.

Fabulous staff and always smiling. Fees are average but dumping bricks and rocks is expensive.
The lady working there advised me to go to Erie (Front Range) dump as it's a flat fee of $80 per pickup load whereas Western charges by the weight (as high as $250 for rocks!) - so was even helpful on that level.

This is the most expensive dump site in the USA! I Just had a consultation with GOT JUNK who is also a rip off, their prices reflect WD prices which GOT JUNK says you can thank western for their prices. So WD is a total and huge rip off, I have spent over 1k in a year dumping household trash, per pick up not full i have been charged 150$ each time. Service is good , and the landscape must be where all their profits are going. I hate the anxiety I get when I pull up to dump a load of trash. armandaleg.

Not sure if policies have changed or the attendant was mistaken, but was quoted a cost of $71 for dropping off 11 small (kitchen) garbage bags, that would have fit in 3 or 4 small trash cans. Clearly it's cheaper to have Western drive to my house, pick up the bags and take them to the same place. A lot cheaper, in fact. Oh well, it was a nice day for a drive, I guess.

We love our driver, Jose. One especially windy day while Jose was emptying the recycle bin into his truck, lots of bits of paper escaped. He jumped out of his truck, we ran outside and for a few minutes we laughingly worked together to pick up the paper in the wind. The last piece Jose handed me rather than throwing away was a photograph. "Are you sure you want to recycle this?" he asked. I had not meant to throw that one away. It was serendipitous that Jose found it.

We have a big picture window and while we are having coffee or making breakfast, Jose always waves and we wave back. I look forward to it almost like a child does. We appreciate Jose's instant response and his most cheerful countenance. Thank you, Jose!

Wow! I find it hard to believe the negative review...

Wow! I find it hard to believe the negative reviews I see. I've been a direct customer for more than 15 years and an indirect customer for much longer. Home service is always as expected; I've seen drivers get out for piece of paper that happened to fly out.

One of the most important things that I've observed is that Western trucks have clean exhaust. Trucks from other disposal companies often come up the street putting out visible smoke. The drivers always seem cautious, and have given me good advice about disposing of more than the usual amount of yard waste.

I've had lots of occasion to bring larger quantities of branches and leaves to their transfer station. It's a busy place, but the people are always friendly and efficient.

I've felt like the cost of service has gone up quite a bit, but reflecting on it, it's only been a little over 2% per year. I feel that the people of Boulder care about the disposal of their trash, recyclables, compost, and other materials and Western's policies and business model reflect that concern.

During the flood I had to remove my carpet and ;pad. At that juncture there was no word that the city would be doing this for free. I called Western Disposal to remove the rug and pad and the dispatcher DID NOT inform me that if I waited for my regular pick-up the cost would be considerably less. The rug was picked up but not my spirits as they charged me $400. When I called to complain, and I've been a loyal customer for 25 years, I was treated rudely and they would take no responsibility for the dispatcher's error. If Western Disposal wasn't the only trash game in town, I would certainly cancel my service. I used to spend time picking up trash in my alley and asking neighbors to do the same. No more Mrs. Nice Gal. I am very disappointed in Western Disposal's attitude and their greedy ways.

Extremely disappointed with the way these people handle their respective positions. I have had a couple of experiences with them-the first simply needing a larger size recycle bin to be switched with the smaller one we had, and the more recent time we paid to have a chair picked up and disposed of. Each of the times required several phone calls, often taking to different people each time, and the overall sense that the left hand didn t know what the right hand was doing. They are super disorganized, always giving promises that they will be over that day-but never following through with this. The office chair we paid to have disposed is still sitting n our driveway, the third day in a row we were assured that it would be gone. How hard can it be?

I have no idea why anyone would give anything but 5 stars to Western Disposal. The customer service there is amazing. Everyone is as helpful as can be...whether when dropping off yard waste or the garbage truck drivers who smile and wave. When I built a house, they came and picked up the dumpster as soon as I called. If you have a problem with a can, they are there to pick it up in hours not weeks. I've been a customer for 25 years and have only had the best experiences. When we needed mulch for planting trees at Fairview H.S., they not only donated it, they brought it over in a truck for us! This is one of the best customer service companies around!

Why does the message that plays when we call go from 'Press One' to 'Press Three'? Why isn't the option to reach dispatch 'Press 2' since it's the second option listed in the message?

Also: It would be nice if you could call and let the customer know why you were unable to pick up the trash instead of us having to reach out to you. Even just a sticker or card left by the person who is supposed to pick it up with the reason why they were unable to would be helpful.

Haven t had a problem with trash people or custome...

Haven t had a problem with trash people or customer service, but Boulder has let these rates get ridiculously out of hand. Make sure to never overfill your container. Putting a bag beside your can because you don t have enough room will get you a fee for too much trash. We recently moved out of a house and had the bins filled and a couple other bags outside of the container. $50. We were charged $50 for the trash to be removed. I ve lived in 4 states, 7 various cities, and moved houses a number of times and have never seen trash removal prices this ridiculous. Sadly Western is the only option in Boulder and the city has let it get out of hand in order to continue its reputation.
