As soon as you pull up to this beautiful historic hotel, you know that you have stepped back in time. Walking toward your bedroom, you are greeted with a gorgeous wood door. The bedrooms are beautiful and clean. The beds are super comfortable. Walking distance to local restaurants and breweries. Great access to the beach and pool. Get your mai tai on at the beach bar and watch the sunset with your love. This pink hotel is iconic and definitely worth checking out.

Fantastic hotel with a lot of history. It's a really unique hotel, one of the best Starwood Luxury Collection hotels I've stayed at. Only downfall is the number of weddings constantly going on.

One of the oldest hotel in Waikiki. A beautiful architecture, a relaxing place ... Prices are of course high compared to the category of this establishment, but you can afford a cocktail that are delicious. Prefer to come a little before 5 pm before there is a crowd ..

Unfortunately, this hotel's service level is not so high. I feel it's lower than normal SPG standard service level.
Because it is too famous, GM and staff may not feel the necessity of improvement.
Pool is not big but it's enough to play with kids. very close between pool and beach. We can also play and stay at beach.

Go to the Ritz or 4 seasons and just drive here. Room had a funky smell. Paper thin walls heard neighbors television. Not a single open seat at the pool at 9 a.m. despite there being 20 seats with towels on them clearly not being used because no one is in the pool (asked if I could move a towel on 1 seat that clearly wasn t being used but was told no). And good luck finding any real estate at the beach among the million umbrellas and chairs that are also sold out. Lobster roll was super good that I ordered to go from the pool. Location is great for shopping. Staff is friendly. Close to the airport. Can t beat the views.

Our visit this year has been the worst! Been coming here for more years than we care to remember. We can not get our suite restocked or even cleaned properly! Service gets worse by the year! You would really think that if someone is paying $7000. A day you could at least get
Clean towels and coffee( we were told they ran out . REALLY! That much money a day send someone to the store. Maybe the General Manager because he doesn t see to do much of anything else. Definitely not training staff any more. Pool and pool service is just as bad. Charge for cabana s which is ok if you can get service. People coming of the beach (not guests) kids DIVING in the pool and no one around to satay a word . After over 50 years of coming to the Royal Hawaiian THIS WILL BE OUR LAST!

Iconic pink landmark of Waikiki. However, we arrived at noon & were told we would be in our room "no later than 3pm". Hung out for 3 hours. After waiting through a long line at a desk with one poor employee I witnessed many unhappy guests experiencing the same as ourselves. One was told "after 4". For what we are paying. I think it could be better. Finally in our room at 3:30. No apologies or allowances were offered for our check in after the official time of 3, not to mention a 3+ hour wait.

I have not stayed at the hotel, but was using the beach facility and the beach bar. The service is great and the bar is really cool during a day at the beach. This is one of the few hotels, which has an operated beach area (I am not talking about a pool area close to the beach). Real beach! For everybody who likes to swim in the ocean and also likes to have chairs and an umbrella, this is the place to be.

First visit was in 2005 and second in 2017. It is a great hotel, the breakfast each morning was excellent, and the concierge was so helpful in planning activities and answering questions. It could be a little loud at times in the room at night/early AM.

The Royal Hawaiian was very good to us when staying as Platinum reward members. We received a gorgeous ocean view room as an upgrade. And the room was positioned at the end of the building which meant it had a wrap around balcony that overlooked Duke's Restaurant and Bar. We were probably on the 5th floor or so. Guest service was terrific. Prefect stay. If this review was helpful, please give it a thumbs up, thanks.

Went to a wedding at the Royal Hawaiian. Food was great! Not buffet, but more than enough food. Cocktail hour was also great with their mai tails, beers, and cheese/meat spread. Stage can accommodate live band which was wonderful. Waitstaff could use some improvement. Few words spoken, when filling glasses liquid would splash everywhere, they cleared plates without asking.

Rooms are nice, but in my opinion the royal h offers less than the starwood resorts on other islands. Sitting on a chair by the beach costs $40 (what), and as you would expect surfing /paddle boarding /etc on Waikiki is expensive. Restaurants around the hotel are kind of a mixed bag. Many are more expensive than they're worth. Luau at the hotel is good, but you have to aggressively hit the bar for drinks to get your money's worth.

This is classic old world charm at it's best. There is a good reason why this place is known as the "Pink Palace" because they make you feel like royalty when you stay there.

We are shocked to see this is a 5-Star Hotel . After researching Waikiki hotels for some time before choosing The Royal Hawaiian, we chose this hotel based on the overall great ratings from multiple sites. The check-in was nice and they brought us a bottle of champagne, but the actual property itself, rooms, and service are not what I would call upscale.
The rooms are small and remind me of a chain hotel vibe. No upscale finishes or decor. That s all fine, because you didn t come to Hawaii to sit in the room.
The reason for the low rating is the service. No one says hi or even acknowledges you when you come or go. The complimentary breakfast and happy hour are nothing to write home about. The pool is very limited in seating and hardly any are in the sun. There is no music or servers to bring you food or drink. A lot of the disappointment could have been ignored if there was any attentiveness to the guests or making sure we were taken care of while here.
I hate to be negative or even write bad reviews, but just really confused on how this can be a 5-star hotel or why other people have given them such great ratings.

The luggage you checked before check-in is temporarily missing. Housekeeper who does not bring in amenity that is not enough even if I say it many times. There are too many unanswered staff when taking a car or bringing it in. Correspondence which does not seem to be about a luxury hotel.
And cockroaches appear in the room.

I met friends for dinner at Surf Lanai. They accomodated my dining for vegan with a shellfish allergy. The dinner was acceptable for immediate short notice. Placement of the serving trays was acceptable for me to sit through the dinner. I normally do not dine out with friends and acquaintences in Waikiki due to my restrictions. The wine was very good. Ambiance and a good time by the beach made the evening wonderful. Mahalo

When you arrive by rental car, the car will be kept in the valley. We recommend the semi-suite room with a view of the sea-side courtyard on the second floor. It's great to take a nap while opening the window and listening to the sound of the waves in a room that juts out a little. It costs about 80,000 yen per night. The water in the baths and showers could be draining and has since been refurbished. It seems that the sand is clogged. The beds are comfortable. The Royal Hawaiian Center is just around the corner. The pool can use the pool of the Sheraton next door. The beach in front is a great place to play with sand all the way to the coast, and it's the perfect place for Hinataboko. Chairs with individual parasols are available at an additional charge. Meals are eaten at the restaurant facing the beach on the first floor, but there are many birds. After all the pink building is the most romantic.

Where to start! The nearby restaurant was horrible in quality and service (Mai tai I think it was called?). You would have to actively have a hand up to get service, as even actively asking waiters you would get no service. I had two steaks there, both about 8 oz. but reduced to about 5 as a good third was fat. They tried to hide it saying "the cut we use has a large portion of fat." And if that's the case, just cut around the fat, "chefs!" When we arrived, the people were very friendly, but that has been the only redeeming thing about my 6 day trip. They close off direct access to beach at about 6:00 PM, and then you have to trek to one of the other connected hotels. Doesn't sound bad until you have to do it every night to go on the beach. Customers are extremely unnecessary to them unless it's a catering/hosting event. Another restaurant, the Azure, closed at 11:00 and I got there at about 10:59. They refused to seat me. The customers, like I said, are very optional to take care of. My father went to the pool one day and they had no seats available so my father had to sit at the bar and BUY a drink to sit. This is all for $500 dollars a night. I would rather go to a hotel in Seattle than this hotel in Hawaii again. The weather is lovely, but only if you can get a place to enjoy it.
Horrible place, terribly treated, would not go here ever again.

The Royal Hawaiian is as beautiful as it is historic, but I would suggest if you want to stay here to save a little money before you come. I can see even there choice of color was on purpose, it's the only Hotel I've seen that's pink it stands out even on your flight in. They have stores for shopping, fine restaurants indoors and outside on the patio for eating. Parking is free and you pay per day if you're not. I would highly recommend.

I used an old building called Historic. This hotel is designed to allow tourists who enjoy cruises to relax from long-term boat trips and to enjoy the view of the garden from the room instead of the sea, for the purpose of enjoying the landing.
The sea is a service for travelers who are tired of seeing it.
It is recommended that you leave the room and sit on chairs at various places in the building and spend the night in the green listening to the birds singing in the courtyard.
If you look at the sea, it is recommended that you have a few early morning people. How about going out to the beach with the coffee and tea provided by the hotel to the guest?

I was very fortunate to stay at this resort for a professional outing. Everything about it was one of the best vacation experiences I've ever had. We were booked in a room with a large balcony overlooking the ocean. It could not have been more perfect. All the food and drinks we had were fantastic. I would highly recommend staying here if you ever get the chance to!

One of the best locations on Wakiki but aspects of the stay were disappointing, Breakfast $35 per head and not of great quality.
No Minibar or even tea making facilities in the room provided, odd for a 5 star hotel. $40 per day for beach lounges when they are available? Small pool very few available pool lounges throughout the day. Little explanation of facilities on arrival, had to wait 4 hours for a room after we arrived after a 10 hour flight. While it is in a great location and the hotel has a good historic feel, the room and service was fine. Really felt like a number over the 10 days we spent at the hotel.

October 1968, my husband and I spent his R/R there from Vietnam. It was so beautiful. The open-air setting of the entire hotel was so wonderful. We received fresh pineapples daily. I even loved the flowing curtains in our room that caught the breeze and surrounded us with the allure of freedom, love and space for enjoying our time together. Thank you, Royal Hawaiian Hotel.
