It has been an amazing & Wonderful accommodation, the front desk is very efficient, we asked for upgrades to a better location & view & we're given different options price wise plus the benefits of the Club Room at main lobby of the Tower serving great breakfast & afternoon meals, drinks etc.
We love our ocean front upgraded room at the 15th floor with balcony & just unbelievable view of Diamond Head, Waikiki beach at night, the unobstructed ocean views & especially hearing the waves when we go to sleep & when you wake up!!! how can you beat that. They also have great service at the pool, beach areas & best menu & real potent amazing "Mai Tais" at the ocean front Bar .
The daily service are very efficient, friendly & always doing a wonderful Cleaning job, always replenishing our bottled water, coffee, teas, towels, shampoos etc, at night they always have turndown service cleaning, replenishing more supplies & asking for anything else we need or want not to mention the wonderful chocolates, really accommodating, Mahalo!!! By the way, I celebrated my birthday dinner at their restaurant next to the bar at main level facing the ocean & the food was the best, reasonably priced, great menu & our waiter Derek gave us the best & excellent service, friendly, accommodating, real nice, thanks for my chocolate birthday cake.
We come to Hawaii 2-3 times a year to different islands & Royal Hawaiian Hotel really is a Luxury Collection Resort, big 10+ thank you for a great one week "Aloha experience", highly recommended.

Elegance and splendor from the 1900 century. Right in the heart of the action. Shopping and bars, high end shopping and ABC stores. Malls nearby. Worth every penny! FYI....I've been to most of Hawaii over 10 times, with family. 1 negative....tiny adult pool closes at 6pm

We have stayed at the Royal Hawaiian hotel for 7 nights over Christmas in the Historic Ocean Jr Suite. This was our first stay at the RH and overall it was a very pleasant one.
Upon arrival at the hotel late in the evening, we were greeted by the friendly RH staff at the hotel lobby, and a courteous personnel at the front desk, Sandra, who promptly checked us into an ocean Jr suite on the 6th floor.
Prior to our trip, we were deciding on whether to stay at the smaller sized but picturesque Ocean Jr Suite at the Royal Hawaiian or go with the much larger Suite at the Sheraton next door, and ultimately we are glad we have chosen to stay at this charming hotel we just didn't see ourselves spending that much time in the hotel room, with so many activities, designer stores and duty free shops located nearby, we were so glad we have made the right decision to stay at the RH.
The moderately sized suite was very lovely the interior were well decorated with charming pink finishes throughout the room, and had a separate sitting area, plus a great view of Waikiki beach and Diamond Head. Not to mention, the hotel grounds were beautiful and very well-maintained. That being said, the Christmas tree and winter decorations at the RH were not as grand as some other hotels that we have previously stayed, such as The Peninsula in Hong Kong, so perhaps Christmas isn't celebrated quite as much as in Asia or on the U.S. Mainland.
As mentioned earlier, the entire RH staff from the concierge and the front desk, to the restaurants, housekeeping and the valets were courteous and very responsive to our needs. There was also the RH Aha'aina Luau dance show/celebration and it was just fantastic and certainly worth the money, so there was simply no need to drive to the Polynesian Cultural Center.
Overall, we had great time in Waikiki and very much enjoyed our stay at the Royal Hawaiian! A special thanks to Sandra and the customer service manager who were extremely helpful and ensured we had a pleasant time at the RH.

One of the most gorgeous hotels I've ever stayed at - see photos. Rich with history, in a picturesque setting, with lush hotel grounds on one side and Waikiki beach on the other. Property is incredibly photogenic; my favorite hotel detail was the intricately carved wood door to each room. Room service is amazing.

Staying at this hotel is not only about the elegance of its grand lobby and foyer, or the upscale rooms, the unparalleled location, or the impeccable hospitality of its guests services, the inimitable Mai Tai Bar and Cafe on the beach, or the efficiency and friendly service attitude of the hotel staff, but it s about the sum total of all those things that make this one of the best hotels in the world.
The Mai Tai Bar on the beach side of the Royal Hawaiian shoreline on Waikiki Beach offers its guests great beach views, an unparalleled beach cafe ambiance and some of the best cocktails on the planet Earth, not just in Hawaii. This is where it all began as far as the Mai Tai is concerned and the bartenders here have no reason to doubt that you will absolutely love the quality and variety of Mai Tai cocktails they serve and continue to invent.
Perhaps due to the season (Spring Break and college BB mania), I easily got a beach side table in the shade at this Royal Hawaiian Hotel outdoor cafe & bar. It was still too early for cocktails, but as the evening arrived, there were even less people. I ordered the Bali Tai ($15), which lived up to this bar's reputation as the originator of the famous rum-based concoction named after this chic drinking establishment, Mai Tai. To go with this delightful drink, I selected the Ali'i burger, which comes with pepperjack cheese, avacado, and a nice helping of tavern fries, accompanied by three scrumptious toppings. I finished my afternoon treat with a Royal Margarita. With a tremendous wait staff like Jamie, my waiter, it was a very delicious and enjoyable time, enjoying the ocean breezes and dining pleasures at the Royal Hawaiian's Mai Tai Bar.
UPDATE (Feb. 27, 2019): Arriving on foot from a long walk to Diamond Head seaside lookout, the three of us strolled through the garden-like natural splendor behind the RHSC, through the almost excessively opulent hotel lobby, and out the beachside doors to a red parasol topped table, directly adjacent to the white sands of Waikiki Beach proper. Our server today was Phi, a friendly and highly efficient staffer, who is a Vietnamese woman immigrant to the US and the same age as my own son (not present) and one of my table and hiking mates, Tomo. Excellent experience at the Royal Hawaiian-- the location is wonderful with perfect views of diamond Head and best beach access. The rooms are good, and the food (especially breakfast) is great. I'm a platinum member, and the staff went above and beyond to make us welcome and even upgrade to a room at an busy time. Recommend if location and staff is a priority to you.

It is recommended such as Waikiki beach seen from the hotel. Secure a good seat early in the sunset time, such as Mai Tai Bar, indeed Pink Palace. It's a good place.

If I can afford it, if stay there all the time. Clean rooms, and great restaurants. Right on the beach and it's also 2 minutes away from the main strip. Very expensive however so best to keep an eye out for their sales to grab a bargain.

Maintains a Hawaiian historic scenery. Very elegant and relaxing. Staff hospitality is exceptional. However, there are a few shortcomings associated with upgrading like the need of a larger swim pool and a few other areas outside. Rooms are nice and clean. Ocean view at thr towers has great scene of the ocean.

Great food and amazing views. Self parking is a bit of a challenge, especially if the Sheraton Waikiki is having an event at the same time, since they share the same lot. Also, the monarch room can be a bit loud and the room temp is inconsistent depending on the weather outside.

worse than motel quality service from the employees at the bar and concierge, a super-nice location, outdated facilities for a 2-star experience at a 5-star price. not the worst but we regret staying here. This hotel is way worse than the four star hotels in the area. I have never been to such a poor five star resort in my life and wonder how they earned the rating with such poor service and an outdated (historic) facilities. we spent most of our time at the sheraton's or outrigger's facilities which is right next door.

This places oozes classic charm of a long bygone era, it has also been used in a few Hollywood films. The pink palace is certainly one place to go and visit on your trip to Waikiki. We sat out the back, on the beach, at sunset with a few cocktails. The view was splendid, a live Hawaiian band with a hula dancer played in the background while the sun faded over the Pacific. You want paradise - here it is right here.

At first, before we arrived, we we're a little concerned about Waikiki Beach because we wanted "calm" and "relaxing" and "real-nice". Well, this was literally the nicest "calm and relaxing" resort we've ever been to. It was So nice. Located at the best part of the beach (by far) and we felt like we were in a super-lux resort. It was our nicest part of our trip. So nice!

A wonderful hotel, the historic charm, the service, the beach, the amenities all make it in my opinion the best hotel in Waikiki. We stayed in the historic garden wing, which in my opinion, is the best. We did not have an ocean view, but our garden view was wonderful. Room was large, high ceilings, housekeeping staff and so welcoming and kind daily, despite our not needing service, they went above and beyond to offer assistance. Hotel has a third party Luau, Aha Aina, twice a week, Monday and Thursdays, we were able to go, make reservations with the concierge. Well worth it for the entertainment and food. The hotel bakery is a must stop! The macadamia treats all must be sampled! We also frequented the Mail Tai Bar for drinks and appetizers, you need to go at least once for sunset!Enjoy!

It is correspondence that can be relieved as a long-established hotel of a resort area. Even if you ask a question, you will be able to answer properly, so each staff's education will be solid. There are also people who can not understand the English being spoken, so if you do not understand it, you will be able to restate it if you do not understand it.
The room is made to feel the history. Although there is an old part if it is bad, let's catch it as a taste of this hotel. Cleaning may not be sufficient from the Japanese level, but I think it's very attentive when looking at the whole. There is no problem with the water. The pruning of the garden is perfect, and the atmosphere as a resort hotel is perfect.
The restaurant and Mai Tai bar are also a bit expensive, but we recommend you have a mood. The service was smart and comfortable.
It is a pity that there was a noisy day at night, probably because the beach is near. Because the walls and windows are thin, you can hear the outside sound well. I can not hear it on a high floor hotel, but this hotel is not that kind of hotel ....
As with Moana Surfrider, I think you can enjoy it if you study the hotel's history in advance.

It is a place of history and culture. A haven where the people of Hawaii flocked to enjoy their music, dance, and extended ohana. You only need to walk her halls to feel the spirit that imbues this historic resort.
