I absolutely love the Roosevelt Hotel. At this visit we went to the Sazerac bar. The atmosphere of spectacular. Of course, it's Christmas time the entire Hotel was very festive. I have been going to the Roosevelt since I was a child and it never fails to amaze me I highly recommend the Roosevelt Hotel.

Arrived to see the lobby mobbed with people. The hotel lobby is decorated for the Christmas holiday. It was beautiful with the lights & tree decorations. It seems that everyone from everywhere comes to this hotel just to walk and stay in the lobby to take photos. Tons of families with their children, grandparents, etc. It never stopped the entire time of our five day visit. From early morning to middle of the night the lobby is a sea of people. If I had know this I would not have booked this hotel. It was a bit annoying by the 2nd day. Loads of people who are not guests of the hotel are mobbing the lobby at all hours of the day and night. I am told this is normal for this hotel. I was told that the hotel has a tea with Santa on the 2nd floor. But 90% of the people were people not seeing Santa. Santa belongs in Dept. Stores with the rest of the public. Not in a high end hotel where the guests are paying a lot of money to vacation in. It seems the hotel did not care about the inconvenience this created for their paying guests. I was very disappointed - I visited another two hotels in the area and it was not at all like this. Just at the Roosevelt. Sorry we choose to stay here and will not do so next season.
An extremely great hotel. The Staff is unbelievably nice and helpful. Obviously being who they are, the facilities are excellent. Only downside is fridges for the room. $50 a day is a bit high. I understand why (they have pay mini bar in the room) but regardless, that price is a bit much. I'm sure there are many other guests like us who may have leftovers from their dining out. But overall, excellent place with an excellent in an excellent location (close to everything).
The Roosevelt has its goods and bads. It's quaint, quiet and the staff is friendly. The rooms are nice. It could use better quality tissue in the restroom and use more cleaning.
Excellent location, good service but the windows are not anti noise. You hear a lot of street noise and other things in the corridors of the hotel, the noise of the rooms is also heard outside, you find out what your neighbors are doing;)
I m currently staying in this hotel. Excellent location near all activities. Hotel lobby has old school charm and rooms were clean and comfortable. I am disappointed in the management and hotel staff. My wife called ahead and mentioned that it was our anniversary. They did not mention anything to us when we checked in. Then i asked the front desk associate if we get breakfast as I m a Hilton honors member. He said we get either 1000 points or $15 credit. I said you can t get much for $15 . I then showed him on the Hilton website however he was (well that s what we offer) My wife is on the phone as we speak with Hilton. Not a way to spend a vacation. The next morning I left my room at 10am. When I returned at 4Pm a house keeper was in my room cleaning it. I again went to the front desk. They said housekeeping can be in the rooms till 5:30 so I said I m paying for a room that I can t use. So what should I do for the next hour. He is like go to the bar I will give you a drink coupon. I went to the bar and waited 10 minutes he never showed up. Lets see how the next 2 days go!
The next day I went to brunch. The hosted made us wait 20 minutes even though there were plenty of tables. The guy making the eggs to-order screwed up the order twice. The buffet was absolutely terrible! No fresh bread . One kind of cheese. I small danish tray with crazy danishes. Some frozen reheated potatoes. I could go on. I have pictures. I think I should have stayed down the block at the Ritz Carlton!!
Excellent place to stay. Super friendly staff. Great room service. Good views from our room. Great bars and restaurants in the hotel. Walking distance to the French Quarter, French Market, Garden District, and River Walk. Will stay here again.
At the beginning of my stay a credit card was given for their required hold for the room, tax, and incidentals. When checking out a different card was given to charge the room. The initial credit card given at check in was charged as well as the second card given at check out. It took 30 mins with various managers to get me to the correct person to speak to and an additional three days to resolve the issue. At the end of it, they said it will take 3-5 business days to receive the credit issued, not giving the inconvenience of having about $1,500 caught up in limbo a second thought.
Beautiful old building, within walking distance of the river and Bourbon St. My room is quite large and tastefully elegant yet comfortable. The food is acceptable but I'm at a business conference so I can't really judge.
Bad service. Dated decor. Mediocre food. Paper thin walls. We just spent four nights at the Roosevelt and had heard it was so nice and we did not have that experience. We will never be back. For a Waldorf at that price it is a total disappointment. Go elsewhere.
After a hurricane on October 28th in New Orleans knocked out our power, my husband and I decided to treat ourselves to a stay at the Roosevelt. Mid-morning on the 29th, I called the hotel website number and was transferred to the Hilton reservations call center. I said that we had three small dogs and the rep said that this was ok but mentioned a $170 charge, which I was fine with. I asked if I'd be able to check in early and they said as early as 1pm. I asked if they had room service during Covid. They said no so I said I would check with my husband to see if that was amenable to him and call back.
I called back and spoke to another Hilton rep, deciding to book the King Astoria suite with separate living room, the second-most expensive room in the building. Again, I mentioned the three small dogs and was told, again, that this would be ok with a fee of $170. I asked if I'd be able to check in at 1pm and the rep said they'd check and put me on hold. After a few minutes on hold, I was transferred to a phone ringing for several minutes and hung up.
I called back and repeated everything to the third rep, including the three small dogs, and were told they were fine with a fee of $170. After checking with the hotel, the rep said that I was able to check in immediately. I asked about parking for my husband, who was coming later with the three small dogs and the rep said that I could pay a per-night parking fee per night upon check-in.
I got a car over to the Roosevelt. When I got to the check-in desk, I mentioned that my husband would be coming later in the jeep with the three small dogs and that I needed parking. The woman at the front desk replied that there was a two dog limit per room. I said that this was unacceptable as I had spoken to three phone reps that said three dogs were ok. She asked if I had booked third party and I told her I had booked via the phone number on the hotel website. She said that they don't book at the hotel and I replied that the number brought me to Hilton reservations. I insisted she get a manager because I was told by three different employees of the corporation she works for that this would be ok. She said her manager was on lunch break but would go ask. The manager refused to come out and sent the front desk clerk back with the message that no exceptions could be made.
I then let a few choice words fly. It wasn't my finest hour but what if we had driven from another state only to find out that the number of dogs we were told were ok were suddenly not? Thank heavens we were only driving from just over a mile away!
I went home and spent an hour with a customer care rep who wasn't very helpful at first, which only made me more irate. My husband told her from the background that he'd heard me on the call with the third rep and that I had mentioned three small dogs. The rep became helpful and called the hotel to say that I was told three dogs was ok. The rep told me that the hotel would not budge on their policy and had told her that they were not an evacuee hotel.
Evacuee hotel? Seriously? We were renting the second most expensive suite they had! If you're going to get nitpicky about two dogs per room, our room would be nearly three times the size of the smallest room they allow two dogs in, and they should have made an exception just due to their corporate mistake.
The customer care rep created case 76007240 to go to the general manager of the hotel and to that person's higher-up. She offered us another Hilton property, but it is comical to think that I would ever stay in their hotels again.
Today, I got a response by email and was told that I should call the hotel directly, as though I was going to get anywhere after their continued refusals!
We are utterly appalled that this has happened to us and that Hilton has done nothing to fix it.
Elegant. Everything you'd expect from a 5 star hotel. Arthur Hailey did his research for his novel Hotel here. You can feel the history and adventure throughout.
The hotel is gorgeous! Our room was lovely, clean, and comfortable. The location is great because it's close to the French Quarter but also nearby a few other things we wanted to do (theatres, WII Museum).
Stopped in to see the hotel and had some Espressos at the Cafe. It's definitely a site to see. All the staff were amazing and were able to answer all ofour questions.
Loved the hotel! The location was perfect, and services were fantastic too. The front desk manager Lizeth was amazingly helpful when complications arose with our booking -- and even recommended her favourite pig-out spots around town!
A definite recommendation, and will for sure be back again :)
I had the most exceptional interaction this morning with Randy, one of the hotel staff members. My driver arrived at the Roosevelt to pick me up, however, I was a block away at another hotel and the driver was having a difficult time understanding how to navigate to my location. Randy jumped in, found out where I was, and then walked to my location to escort me, with umbrella, to my driver.
Although I didn t stay at this hotel during my business trip this week, Randy s display of compassion and excellence was unlike any I ve experienced. His willingness to go above and beyond for me, even as a non-patron, has put The Roosevelt at the top of the list for my next visit to New Orleans.
Some of the most beautiful spirited people in the world not just in New Orleans . If I ever have to rent a hotel in New Orleans this is the place I will rent from. Every employee I came in contact with the night before Mardi Gras and Mardi Gras morning was awesome. Not a lazy bone in the building everyone doing their job and much more. Helping ppl when they could have sent them to someone else.
For it being my first Waldorf experience, I was disappointed. Lobby is beautiful, rooftop bar/pool area is decent, I was not impressed with the rooms. I downgraded from a superior king room to a regular king room because I wanted a room which gives me the best view of the city, the superior room had slightly more sq footage than the regular room but I was staring straight at another building when I opened my curtains. The room I was transferred to was suppose to give me a great view of Canal street . I guess I did see Canal street but what stood out more was the trashed rooftops of some other buildings in front of me(Shown in picture). The bathroom has a small tv which was cool but upon turning it on you realize it s very old with the poor picture quality, therefore I didn t use it. Shower was nice with 4 shower heads that can be adjusted to spray at the same time. Ultimately I just didn t feel the luxury vibe in the room compared to some other Hilton properties I ve stayed at, I expected more from a Waldorf. The executive level room I had at the Hilton Riverside was in better shape with a much nicer view.
The rooms are very comfortable for the rare instances that you're actually stationary. The location is perfect walking distance to everything you could possibly want to do in the city. The employees have been wonderful and beyond accommodating. Will definitely be using The Roosevelt again in for future trips.
Great hotel - however, if it's Mardi Gras just know that you cannot get access to your hotel if you are away from the area. They block the streets and make it difficult to get to the hotel and the cabs refuse you service. You need to be prepared to walk and in some instances long distances.
I visited Roosevelt of New Orleans after a night out eating at a nearby restaurant. I didn't spend the night there but the service was impeccable. I was greeted by a worker and they explained all the amenities at the hotel.
