It's a decent hotel. The rooms are on par with big chain hotels. The lobby feels a little high class but you don't feel put of place coming and going in a pair of jeans. Don't expect a view since it's on Pennsylvania and is surrounded by buildings. It's location is nice, but most stuff is at least a 10 minute walk.

This hotel is excellent for the price. The decor of the lobby and amenities are exactly what you would expect for a boutique hotel. There was infused water available in the lobby throughout the day. Coffe and teas were available in the morning. The staff are attentive and responsive to guest request. I stayed in room 401 (deluxe king) the floor space in the room was ample. Lighting was also good for an inside facing room. The bed was firm but comfortable. The pillows on the bed were amazing! There was an available mini bar/room fridge, there is enough room in the fridge to store you left overs. The bathroom was clean, but there is no available exhaust fan, plan accordingly. I will make this my regular stay when in D.C..

Noisy experience. Don t be lured by the nice lobby. Rooms are average with loud, old fashioned ACs. The central ventilation system is so loud that sleeping is barley possible, not even with ear plugs (they moved me around to three different rooms when I complained, all equally bad). To sum up: I m not coming back. DC has plenty of better price/quality offers. Why don t they get it: a hotel s key function is a good night s sleep!

I have stayed in 4 hotels in for different states but this one is the best. I really enjoyed my stay there. The staff are super nice and genuinely friendly. The hotel location is very good. The rooms are well furnished and very comfortable. Free coffee and tea in the morning was a nice touch.

Ripped off. During high demand events, they participate in collusion with other hotels to rip off customers with not refundable, non changeable reservations. They try to create the impression that if you don't book now, the city will be sold out. But that never happens. We prepaid for 7 rooms, but used only 5 rooms. We didn't mind paying 3-4 x the normal rate, but they refused to accommodate reasonable requests. They coerced one in our party into buying another non-refundable room by saying the the group reservation did not exist. Then they refused to make it right. They refused numerous upgrade requests even though, at the time, suites were still available. One in our party left to get a suite in another hotel. Staff was nice, but the chain management ripped us off. FYI, this is a REMINGTON owned hotel. As to the hotel, it was a bit run down and in need of remodeling. And it is in Foggy Bottom/GWU area, not really Georgetown.

Fantastic large suite. The hotel is kept in very good shape. Everything is clean and looks nice. The staff is very courteous and helpful. They park your car for you in the garage. I would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful hotel and staff, the wheelchair friendly rooms are well designed, and the staff will help with the lift to get from the lobby to the lifts when ever you need, they have gluten free naked on the lunch and dinner menus, but not on the breakfast, they are very accommodating though and will answer your questions. The restaurant food is wonderful and portions are quite reasonable, it looks well visited by business people so it often looks formal in dress, this isn't the case shorts and a t-shirt are fine.

Don t know why there are two results given when looking up this hotel (same address and all). My review was originally posted there- as was another negative review.

Short Version: Don't let the immaculate appearance of the hotel (inside and outside) fool you- the service is bad and there's something about the people that work there, that just seems "off".

There are likely other places to stay at that will be more welcoming, just as clean while offering the same comfort, if not better and have more to offer for what you pay.

Long Version: The hotel is spotlessly clean and it is comfortable. Aside from that, most of my review is negative.

Everyone in our group is of color ( I'm South Asian/ West Indian and the others are African American) but I noticed that there was a difference in the way that the people there treated me and the way they treated my friends. They were nice to them and their kindness towards me seemed forced. It s a bit weirder because most of the staff are clearly South Asian and African. I also think asking questions about the parking fee (because I checked in early Saturday morning and wanted to know how I would be charged for parking as I was checking out on Sunday) or maybe being dressed in what seemed like "weird" costumery for a nearby event was not to their liking. I even said hello/ good morning/ the applicable greeting- with a smile, only to be greeted coldly or not at all.

Upon check out, I asked to pay for my parking separately from my friend and noticed that they tried to charge me for two nights of parking. I was told by the woman at the desk, at the time of check in, that I would be charged for one. The man at the desk seemed hesitant to believe me and called over a valet- who scanned my ticket and he said nothing was showing up. I was not about to be charged an extra $50.74 for a service that I didn't receive. But the man at the desk did change it and charged me for only one night of parking. I feel as though they thought I was lying.

The manager refused to make eye contact with my group as we stood in the lobby while waiting for our vehicles to brought out. When I went to get the key from the valet after he parked my car, I kindly said thank you but again, received a cold response. Then as we went to our vehicles, the manager offered my friend help with her bag (she said she didn't need it and would later ask/ tell me "why didn't they help you? you needed it more"). None of the three valets standing there, offered me any assistance- even though my suitcase was four to five times the size and weight of my friends bag. In my periphery, as I lifted my suitcase, I could see one of them step forward a bit but not a word/ motion after that. Thankfully I was taught to do things on my own and didn't need their help.

Overall, I personally would not recommend this hotel as I felt down right unwelcome here. But if you must stay here, may you have a better experience.

I loved this hotel, the rooms were spacious, clean and quiet with a large television and well stocked mini-fridge. The staff members were always ready to help and would greet the hotel residents with a smile and cheerful demeanor no matter the time of day. Those like Katherine "The Great", Arleen and many other staff members that I've met but regrettably couldn't remember their names. I highly recommend this hotel to friends and family for any vacation to D.C.

A lovely facility with reasonable rates and excellent service. The decor (currency-themed) left a tiny shred of something to be desired, but then I never was much of a fan of the sort of paint-by-numbers stuff that hangs in most hotels anyway so a tip of the cap for the effort anyway. I recommended this hotel to a friend while I was still a guest.

If I could give no stars I would. Front desk staff that claimed he was the manager was extremely disrespectful, humiliating, and rude. Refused to let me check into my room after it was PREPAID! Refused to accept my multiple forms of identification and had no solution at 8:30 at night and left me with no where to stay after a brutal exhausting 2 hour drive. This establishment discriminated against me. Luckily the nice people at the Liason accommodated me with no problem. I will no longer EVER book with this hotel or any of its subsidies if there are any! I will also not recommend this hotel to anyone. Nice neighborhood as expected but also has the nasty attitude and common discriminatory ways of the so-called elite!

Nice location between West End (Foggy Bottom) and Georgetown. Which means the Kennedy Center, Dupont Circle and the C&O Canal are all with in walking distance. As is a Trader Joe's.

Rooms are large and the public space is nice. Meeting space is not super inspiring, but will work if you need something without tall ceilings. No real outdoor space, but then you have the city to wander.

Had dinner for four for $308 on a Saturday night at 7:00 PM at Jardenea in the Melrose and the place was empty which should have signaled to me that the food was mediocre...which it was. After dinner moved out to lobby to have an after dinner drink and watch a basketball game. The sofas were not oriented towards the TV so we moved them 45 degrees to orient them towards the TV. A staff member quickly came over and fussed at us and demanded that we move the sofas back. Obviously the staff has not been trained that the customer is always right except when the customer s request is totally unreasonable, which ours was not.

Overall a very poor experience at the Melrose.

Your staff is rude, and your policies are outdated. It is understandable and adequate that you do not share information with callers over the phone, but you may need to understand that many of your executive guests do not complete their own expense reports. If it is in the policy to hang up and be rude to their administrative assistants, we can book their travel elsewhere, and will do as such.

Even after I had the Chief Operations Officer verify his identity over the phone, and after he stated to "Tonya Mcleod" to speak with me since I was his assistant, she disconnected the call. When I called right back, I received an attitude and she stated "We do not share any information with people other than the guests, even if they tell us to."

Hindering your customers from conducting business is much different than protecting your customer's privacy. We will not book any more business with this hotel, and I'll be sure to notify the 10,000 employees at this company. Thanks for nothing, Tonya.

The room is charming and clean. Old school charm but with modern upgrades. Friendly staff and cute historical touches. Knocking down a star because the extras are overpriced so we had to park at a lot down the street and don't use the restaurant in that hotel. Overall, we are enjoying our stay.

Excellent hotel Very attentive. Valet parking is expensive, but ends up being beneficial. It is very close to the white house and other places of interest. The rooms are very comfortable and neat.

This place is a nice, mid-sized hotel, just a little bit too big to be a boutique hotel. It has well-maintained, classy premises, but the most important part is the software. Staff are all extremely friendly, very helpful and forthcoming, not always perfectly professional, but all with an extremely good spirit.
Technical equipment appears to be quite aged. I had several problems (shower too cold, heating too weak, busted light bulb), but the staff took care of each problem in a swift and very effective manner.
They have no breakfast buffet, but make you choose between six set menus. I felt uncomfortable with this lack of choice, even though staff again were extremely friendly and helpful.

Terrible hotel. Room smelt like smoke and its not worth the money. They rename the "resort" fee to a "destination" fee and charged 31$ additional per night (on top of my $138). They also charge an additional $48 for valet parking, which is ridiculous. Employees were okay but not very friendly.

I have spent the same money for MUCH better service. This is a 3.5 star hotel at best charging 4-4.5 Star pricing.

If your thinking about staying here, DONT.

i had a group of artists staying in the hotel and could only say on behalf of the actors and myself that we were treated in a most extraordinary and considerate manner- at the front desk, lobby- everyone appeared to go out of their way to make our stay especially memorable. Kennedy Center and myself were astounded how this fabled Russian theatre company were treated. In addition to the hotels hospitality the company loved being so centrally located. A special thank you should go to Ceren Ozyenginer who kept this large operation going very smoothly and always being available to our needs.
My companies and I look forward to returning and much gratitude, once again.

Summary: This hotel, and its management, support r...

Summary: This hotel, and its management, support racist staff who harass guests and refuses to hold them accountable.

Background: My name is Ivan Solomon, I am a senior studying International Relations and Middle Eastern Studies at Pomona College in Southern California. I am currently (7/13/18-7/21/18) staying at the Melrose Georgetown Hotel while participating in an exchange program with a South Korean delegation.

On Sunday, July 15 I was in the downstairs lobby area recording a video for a job interview. I did not want to disturb my sleeping roommate so I went to this quiet area. After about 20 minutes of recording and re-recording my video, I found a man Stanley, the valet standing over my shoulder. At this time it was a little past midnight.

I said with a smile I m just recording a video for a job application, to which he responded are you a guest here? I was immediately offended. Other than acting on a racist pretense, he had no reason to assume that I was not a guest. (Even if I wasn t a guest, hospitality professionals are instructed to treat all people as potential guests.)

He demanded to see my room key, despite me telling him I was a patron. After a few minutes of him berating me, I showed him my room key and he simply walked away without apologizing. I pursued him, asking him why he addressed me so disrespectfully, and he refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing and continued to walk away.

Frustrated, I walked upstairs to inform the receptionist of the harassment which just directed at me, and she said little of substance. (However, she at least engaged me in a respectful manner.)

I returned to my room but could not calm down so I went back to the lobby to request an apology from Stanley. I approached him and said frankly I do not appreciate how you addressed me, it was very disrespectful and I m sure you would not speak to any other guest like that. All he had to do was apologize and I would have forgiven him. Instead he yelled you don t have to appreciate it! And after a few more disrespectful remarks, looked me in my eyes, pointed in the direction of the ceiling, and shouted Go to your room!

It is important to note that throughout this entire engagement I remain composed and respectful in how I addressed the staff. It was him, and him alone, who escalated this situation. So, realizing that I would not receive any justice that night, I wrote a letter to the management explaining what happened.

As of Wednesday, July 18, I have received no contact from the Melrose s administration. I have followed up with the front desk on two separate occasions, and each time I have been told that they will get back to me. I have not even received a message from the management stating that an investigation has been launch or that my message was received.

I did not want to write this review. I would have rather had this issue resolved. However, the administration s negligence and unprofessionalism has left me no choice. They have refused to hold anyone accountable and have made it clear that they do not care about the treatment of their customers, particularly people of color.

I would advise all potential guests to stay away from this hotel. If you have any questions please feel free to email me.

There was a fire alarm at 11:00 at night. The hotel staff never gave any explanation, apologized for the disruption, or mentioned it during my stay. Guests had to question the fire marshall to find out if it was safe to return to our rooms after the alarm continued to go off for more than 20 minutes. At checkout, no one inquired about how my stay had been or made any reference to the fire alarm at all.

Listen everyone you've got to have native English speakers at the front desk of the hotel especially in DC. These people are just clueless and it's a beautiful hotel however it is poorly managed and that is why it is so expensive. However I must say it is a bargain overall.
