Customer service had a lack of hospitality. We arrived after midnight, we were exhausted, and it seemed like all the employees here were so tired they were so tired they didn't care about the customers. When we got to the room, the towel racks broke the door, and for some reason someone left a paint brush in the sink. It is strange that it felt like someone had just built the room earlier that day. The only reason I'm giving it two stars is because the bed and bath products were extremely nice.

We stayed in this hotel during a citytrip of ten days. This hotel has it's pro's and cons. The staff were very helpful and one of the biggest asset in my opinion. We booked an Executive Room (we got #713, shown in the pictures), but had to More

If I could give this hotel a half of star I would. This is the worse hotel I have ever stayed at. The staff is very racist and rude. From checking in to being put out in the middle of the night on my birthday, this was the worse experience of my life. When trying to check in they said they could not find the reservation but had already taken the money out of my account. When trying to speak to the manager she lied and said she was not the manager and would not answer any questions. She also lied on her report of us being put out of the hotel. Even when the police was called they could not understand what the hotel staff problem was and said it seemed like they were being racist. Which is crazy because the police race was the same race as the manager. Then when I finally talked to the owner Jale she was very rude and unprofessional. She also would not go over there refund policy or there protocol. I also had stated that the lady that was lying about her being a manager told the police I could have refund but Jale would have to issue it. I want it to be clear that I am not racist, I am mixed with white. But when the hotel staff saw that we were from different nationalities everything became a problem starting with the check in process. Which I had even called beforehand and they stated they had our reservation. But when they saw me all of a sudden they couldn't find the reservation. If you are looking for a hotel that is friendly this is not the place for you.

Incredible hotel. From the moment you pull up you are taken care of as a valued costumer. The valet staff are prompt and help with your bags to the door where you are greeted with an open door held for you. Staff from the front desk, to the restaurant and beyond were all kind, courteous and prompt. The price was great too. My wife and I celebrated a late valentine's day. The staff surprised us with a complimentary bottle of wine and two plates of assorted gourmet chocolates and chocolate covered strawberries. We got a package that came with a continental breakfast that was upgraded to real entrees when we came down for brunch. My only complaint would be the parking cost, but it's DC and you aren't going to find cheap or convenient parking anywhere. We will stay there again and I would suggest to anyone staying in DC to highly consider this hotel.

A beautiful hotel centrally located between Georgetown and all the highlights. The bus stops practically at the door. The employees are very friendly and helpful. Fresh coffee and tea at the reception in the morning. We are very satisfied.

I stayed at the Melrose for close to a week and did not want to leave! The room was spotless and extremely spacious with great amenities, not to mention within walking distance to tourist sights in DC and the adorable Georgetown. I would definitely recommend this hotel and hope to stay again in the future!

Beautiful property, great location and wonderful staff However I booked a room on Hotels Tonight..they don't tell you there is a $50 valet parking fee and no self-parking. And the hotel also adds a $24 destination fee. Room is nice, but it is very loud if you have a room near the service closet as the staff door slams starting at 7 am.

Hotel is located near George Washington University and its metro stop. It is also convenient to Georgetown by cab or one-mile walk. Rooms are spacious and have a boutique hotel feel. Lunch at the restaurant downstairs is quite nice and the lobby has ample seating with a fireplace.

This hotel is a bit expensive, as are most hotels in downtown Washington DC. But it is very nicely located, close to metro stops and walking distance to nice restaurants in Georgetown and elsewhere. They have an excellent staff. Great service. The fitness room is a bit limited. Very nice and clean rooms.

I hope the management contacts me after this review as I was very very disappointed with my stay at the hotel. Initially the room I reserved 2 months in advance was not available upon my arrival, which sometimes happen due to overbooking. But the attitude of their staff, specifically "Emily" the bartender who bluntly refused to serve me water or sell me any water at 1:00 am (when all the other walking distance shops are closed). Her exact words were "who needs water to survive", and upon asking her name to report this attitude she gave me a wrong name of "Nicole". Water being the basic necessity, I thought could not be a cause of such a rude and arrogant behavior. She continued to interrupt me I decided to talk with the front desk.

If they can fix their attitude, this can truly be my regular hotel on my bi-monthly trip to the city.

Clean and lovely hotel in a great spot in georgetown. Rooms are fairly spacious, well stocked and clean. Beds are some of the most comfortable I've slept on, hotel wise. The rooms leave a bit to be desired on both soundproofing (can hear everything) and from general noisiness in terms of a/c and other electronics. Only utilized the restaurant for brunch, which was very tasty, but could have used a few more people attending tables. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Overall was a very pleasant stay and would likely stay again on a return trip to D.C.

Very efficient and friendly staff. Rooms were very nice, with nice amenities. Very nice looking, small boutique hotel. I believe it was renovated in the past year or two. Rooms included fridge, snacks, robe, loofah - scrub cloth (random but nice) and face wipes. I enjoyed my stay greatly. The restaurant was quiet and quick.

Do not stay here, there are a ton of hidden fees and the place isn't that comfortable. I just checked out today. Got charged 100 dollars in excess service fees after staying 1 night and not ordering anything nor taking any of the items from the room.

This hotel was awesome! We were greeted by friendly hotel staff at check in. The smell in the lobby is refreshing and soothing. The room was just what we wanted and very clean! The staff had suggestions for places to eat and gave us whatever we needed! We got a nice rest with no interruptions. The water pressure was great in the shower and the linens were soft and high quality. The only thing I would want different but that is just me, is the bed was a little too firm for me. Other than that everything was awesome from check-in to check-out. They have great tea and coffee options in the morning and nice refreshing infused water throughout the day!

Very nice and a nice surprise.

Very nice and a nice surprise.
I booked on line because of the location and price (not cheap, but below average).

I was impressed. The decor was interesting, the whole place was clean and modern. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Large for a non-suite room.

The location was perfect for me-3 blocks from GW.

The staff was friendly, polite, professional and attentive.

I will go back next time I am in DC and I recommend this place.

Must find third party parking but there's a few options within half a mile. Employees were very welcoming and rooms were very comfortable. Located right in between Georgetown and DC so visiting both is convenient.

Good location just a couple blocks from the GWU metro station, service was good, staff was nice. King suite was perfect for our family of 5 - king bed in separate room, pull out sofa was a queen, separate 4 foot chaise for the youngest. My daughter built a little camp with the sofa cushions to avoid sleeping next to her brother, but plenty of space. Great place to stay!

What a great hidden gem. From the lobby to the well decorated rooms. everything was perfect. The staff is friendly and helpful. Room has a safe, refrigerator, coffee maker, bath robes and slippers and to my pleasant surprise a clothes steamer. It's the little things like that make the difference.

Great location, a few blocks between One Washington Circle and Georgetown.

The restaurant is a stand out. The manager was the first person we met at the restaurant and was very helpful. The waiter was just the right amount of attentive. The braised lamb was simmered for 24-hour and fell of the bone. Everything was delicious.

This was our first time there, and we both agreed we will be back!

Nice hotel with a friendly staff. The rooms are well appointed, a good size, clean and quiet. The hotel was switching billing systems during our stay, which resulted in us having to spend some time at the front desk correcting charges. I assume this would be sorted out by now and will not be a problem for future guests.

It located between George Washington University and Georgetown. It is closer to GW than Georgetown. M street is about .5 to 1 mile away depending on where you want to go. There are several nice restaurants within walking distance to hotel and the Foggy Bottom Metro station is a short walk.

I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

My husband and I lucked out with a great price on a room, we were greeted with the friendliest staff I've ever seen. While waiting to check in we were asked why we were visiting, we were here for our 7th wedding anniversary. The woman who checked us in told us that they waved the early check in fees and gave us a complimentary breakfast. Later after exploring D.C. we came back to the room and soon after room service showed up yet we hadn't ordered anything, Ameen had sent us a plate of chocolate covered strawberries and left us an anniversary card. Such a small gesture that meant so much. Breakfast was delicious and the gentleman who waited on us was wonderful. (We wish you all of the best of luck with school) The room was clean and beautiful. Simple yet updated and fresh feeling. This hotel was simply outstanding. I will definitely be back and will make sure to spread the word about how wonderful of an experience we had. Thank you to everyone. You were all amazing.

The size of the room is large enough to relax. It is better not to expect much of the room view. There is a distance from the adjacent building, it is quiet, but there is a room that faces the room of the next apartment.

Booked my room through orbitz. When I arrived I saw there was no parking garage, but a valet which I would be charged an extra $48. The receptionist then mentions a destination fee . I ended up getting billed an extra almost $100, just for staying. The room looked nice, but took forever to cool down. The worst part is I woke up to my entire arm covered in bites. These were not there before I left my house, or even before going to sleep. After this I looked them up and saw that there are reported instances of bedbug bites and people finding roaches in their room.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

And exceedingly nice hotel, very Posh. There is a doorman, and bellhops who can help you with your gear. It is in downtown DC, off Pennsylvania Avenue near George Washington University. There is a large amount of undergraduates carrying around beer to party into another's to study. If you can handle that, then it is a wonderful place to stay. However, bear in mind, it is unbelievably pricey

I planned a trip for my husband's 30th birthday, I was having a hard time deciding on a hotel since we had never been to DC. I am so glad that I chose the Melrose, the staff was so friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable, spacious, and quiet. The location was perfect, you were a couple of blocks from Foggy Bottom Metro and M Street. I highly recommend staying here, the rates and location can't be beat. The next time we come to DC, we will stay here again!!!

We just got back and I have to say our stay was great! Pluses...the rooms are a great size, much bigger than your typical city hotel. I can't say enough good things about the front desk staff and the valet guys. The lobby, the restaurant, the decor especially in the hallways was just beautiful, and the location is awesome! Negatives...yes, the bathrooms are small and narrow and parking IS expensive but that's the price we pay when we bring our car into a big city. We've been to D.C. before but I still did my homework before choosing a property and so glad we went with The Melrose. We will absolutely stay there again. Go. You won't regret it.
