This is a beautifully appointed hotel in a terrific location with top-notch welcoming service. We thoroughly enjoyed daily breakfast. We loved having an evening drink at the bar. We recuperated each afternoon in the pool and sauna. Our room was comfortable in every way. The concierge staff helped us with dinner reservations and arranging a boat trip.

Beautiful hotel whose marketing nickname "Legend" ...

Beautiful hotel whose marketing nickname "Legend" Sofitel is quite suitable. We had a suite on the 4th floor. At first we are surprised by the appearance a little labyrinth to access the room (it takes 2 lifts) but when you want an authentic establishment it takes some effort!
The room is very spacious and equipped with Japanese toilets (rare in Europe). A small terrace overlooks the bedroom. The bedding is excellent and the bathroom with shower and large bath.
The hotel has several restaurants including a star that we have not tested. The indoor pool is very nice.
The location is ideal for tourism and the hotel is suitable for families.

vermoedelijk was de matras in kamer 444 aan vervanging toe. Was redelijk onstabiel.

Very courteous staff, excellent service with a smile.... a special mention about Mr Luca in the restaurant whose hospitality was so warming !!

The front desk Mr Timur was very helpful and the concierge desk is full of knowledge.

The low point was the very tiny size of the 'classic' rooms. They are smaller than the smallest that I have ever stayed. To add to it a black tiled toilet and dim lights... make it claustrophobic and accident prone.

Please get your council to remove the smelly public toilet sitting just outside the grand entrance to the Grand.

We stayed in the hotel for three days following a river cruise from Budapest top Amsterdam. The cruise was great, and our stay at The Grand capped off the trip very well. The staff was always friendly and attentive. Our bedroom and all of the common areas were tremendous. The building is historic but totally up to modern standards. Artwork, furnishings, and design features were outstanding and comfortable. When and if we're back in Amsterdam, we would not consider staying anywhere else.

Wat een prachtig hotel, het lijkt wel een museum. Rustiek in een erg drukke maar gezellige wijk van Amsterdam. Het personeel deed erg zijn best om ons bezoek perfect te laten verlopen. Waar voor je geld. Wij komen hier zeker nog terug.

came here for my birthday and had amazing stay. Rooms are spotless beautiful and restaurant food downstairs was phenomenal, beautiful relaxing area downstairs with a fire place. Just to place to be to get away.

Not the obvious service that I expect from a 5 star hotel. Upon check-in offered that Volkskrant and Parool be delivered in the morning, Telegraaf received. Bartender Bart can't make a Pina Colada because hotel doesn't use cocos, something about waste. vague story. Ladies at breakfast high in energy, lots of loud talking and assumptions that don't make sense, Mini-Bar not supplemented after 1 night. All small things but just not the obvious quality service that characterizes a really good 5 star hotel. Slightly learned service, sometimes going wrong.

This was my second time staying at this property in the 2 bedroom Imperial Suite and everything was just perfect. The property, staff, amenities, attention to details and everything else was spectacular!!

Would always stay at this property when in Amsterdam! Right in the middle of Dam Square. Best location, luxury at its finest!!

Possibly the best hotel we have ever stayed at anywhere in the world. The experience was unparalleled. From the warmth and attention given to us by head butler Mauricio, to the assistance provided by concierges Niels and Jonathan, to the hospitality of Luca in the restaurant, our experience at Sofitel The Grand Amsterdam was exceptional. The hotel itself is beautiful, historic, and well worth it, but the staff will make your stay magical. We cannot wait until we get the opportunity to stay there again. What an absolute GEM of a property.

We traveled with our 17 month old daughter to Amsterdam for a long weekend. Experience shows that such weekend trips with a toddler are very nice, but also stressful. Our visit to Amsterdam was exhausting, but the really great location, the beautiful building and the wonderful courtyard made the Sofitel Legend an oasis of peace to relax and recharge. In addition, the restaurant, the service and the food are so good that we have all meals except lunch there to us. Also the room was very pleasant, although priced for size and facilities at the top - the only smear overall.
The absolute highlight at the end: we have rarely experienced such a perfect, friendly and unobtrusive service. There are 10 points!

After we were really excited about the hotel, the service on the last day at breakfast absolutely failed. We arrived at the breakfast room at 10 o'clock. Were asked to sit in the lobby and wait. We were offered a coffee, which was over 40 minutes in coming. After more than 1 hour and multiple requests we were then given a table in the breakfast room. But the best part was that the waiter, who brought us the coffee in the lobby also put a bill here. It will probably have been the last stay in this hotel.

On July 21 enjoyed a great afternoon tea in the lovely hotel. Delicious snacks in high quality savory and sweet. Well-chosen tea brought fresh by the waitress at every course. Very good and attentive waitress who kept a close eye on everything. You didn't have to ask for anything. Compliments to the Cook and service. A real pleasure to talk to in peace.

I was looking forward to stay at this luxury hotel. I have a credit card that gives me perks for certain hotels. I stayed in a jr suite that was well appointed. Too my dismay housekeeping didn t clean the room prior to my occupation. Only my bed was changed out. I found the bathroom with someone else s hair on the floor and shower. There was dirty rag streaks in the bathtub. I asked for a pot to boil water for tea and it was covered with dust along with the shelves it was on. The carpet hadn t been vacuumed also. I could see the prior tenants footprints. The robes and slippers were clean and in the closet they had sewing kit, facial mist etc. I liked that. The toiletries Armani were tailored for men with the scent of aftershave. My hair came out dry and frizzy. The price for my room $658. I complained twice. The evening, came up and I showed them the dirty bathroom and dusty room. They sent up a clean pot and apologized. . At that point I didn t want tea. At checkout I also let them know how disappointed A manager came out and apologized for my room. They were dumbfounded. The restaurant was excellent for dinner and breakfast. wonderful! Lovely comfortable room, beautiful view of the canal. Complimentary room service when staying on the B&B rate was a lovely touch. Every member of staff I encountered were polite, professional and helpful. Dinner on the evening of the 11th April was superb.

Nice hotel, in a beautiful place. The room is beautiful and spacious, but beware of the noise if you overlook the street (red light district and coffee shops do not attract the population of papers grannies at night). Isolation would be to be reviewed. Otherwise the breakfast well provided. Zona spa very small and any.
