The staff was extremely friendly, they would stay up to let me back into the hotel at night as they had door closing hours. The hotel felt like an old-style French Chateau. They make you feel royal as you walk through the marble halls and give a sense of decadent grandeur.

from the moment we checked in the service was top notch. Friendly staff everywhere made us feel very welcome. Room was modern, clean, and housekeeping went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

Excellent service, the staff attentive to the smallest detail, pending that we did not lack anything and that we were happy. The room super clean, sheets with a high quality fabric, comfortable bed. Overall, my wife and I enjoyed our stay at Sofitel for the three nights we were there. Unfortunately, we were not very impressed with the spa facilities at all. The steam room was cold and uninviting and not operating correctly at all. The water in the pool and spa area was cold and once again uninviting. The sauna seemed to be fine but could do with a small dim light so you can see the egg timer at least!
The biggest gripe was the price of the breakfast which we both felt was overboard for what was on offer and hence we chose to have breakfast elsewhere. The room itself was very comfortable and facilities more than adequate for our needs. The staff were pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable.

We were with a Tauck group. The hotel public areas are lovely and the staff is for the most part very good---friendly and obliging. The location is excellent. The main negatives were a) a coffee maker that defied our efforts to operate it (a call to the front desk did nothing to help); b) the lack of a full length mirror; c) a (charming) bar too small to actually visit; and d) a disconcertingly high step into the bathroom---treacherous to jetlagged seniors. But overall, a nice hotel, and one we would happily revisit.

Restored Amsterdam City Hall is the old building that is now the site of this truly first class, 5-star hotel. Located between two canals, and immediately adjacent to the famed Red Light District, this hotel is a great place to stay in Amsterdam. Really top notch service on all levels from every department- the front desk, the concierge, the butlers, the maid staff and the amazing restaurant staff - all are very professional, happy people who make every effort to ensure your stay is perfect.

I have just returned Home after three nights in this amazing hotel. Luxury rooms are very comfortable and clean. Ours with a nice view to the canal. The personnel are always helpful and friendly and offers help several times while we we're in our room. We had a tour round the hotel with a concierge who told all about the history of the hotel. Very interesting. No complaints from here. We were all satisfied and thrilled by the stay

It hardly gets better than this: The Legend is a legend in every sense. We had excellent food at breakfast, catering for every taste and diet, we enjoyed the spa and the staff went above and beyond to help us whenever we needed. Definitely excellent and beautifully decorated hotel that will make your stay unforgettable.

It's indeed a beautiful hotel, with great location...

It's indeed a beautiful hotel, with great location in Amsterdam... But this is not why I am giving the hotel 5 stars. .. the stars go to thestaff, the way they take care of their guests is fantastic. They really made us feel special, as soon as they picked us up from the airport to departure time... The restaurant staff are amazing, kind, professional , knew the menu by heart and made us feel like we were the only ones there.
At breakfast I liked one of the items on the buffet and told the hostess about it, by the time.i got back to my room, I had a small bag with several packages of the crackers that I loved, with it a sweet note.
Please stay at this hotel when you visit Amsterdam- you will fall deeply inlove with the beautiful staff.

Excellent customer service right from the start of...

Excellent customer service right from the start of our holiday until we left. Everyone was warm and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend this hotel when visiting Amsterdam.

we very nice that started badly because an unbearable noise in the following, due to the problem of ventilation (continuous humming).
Butler Domingo handled the situation very well and moved us to another suite.
We were able to finish the we in a relaxed way.

Joined the free tour at 11 a.m. (apparently they offer it every day) through this amazing building that had not only been city hall but also V.O.C. headquarters. Inside beautiful art deco/Amsterdam school decorations as well. Thank you Sofitel for providing such a great service free of charge (I did buy a cappuccino... which was also great and the 0,15 water bottle from AH in the picture is my own ). And thank you for having such wonderful and friendly staff and Filippo as a tour guide was not only extraordinarily knowledgeable but also explained everything so pleasently that I wanted to hear more and more...(of course there is only so much they can show you in a free tour).

One of the most amazing hotel's I've ever stayed at! Every single member of the staff is committed to superior customer service; I was amazed that every time I walked through the lobby a staff member approached me to ask what they could do to help me. Every single staff member from top to bottom were fantastic. From the wonderful person that checked me in (who also asked about my Dutch heritage) who then arranged for a wonderful surprise to be delivered to my room, to the amazing host at the restaurant during breakfast. When I come back to Amsterdam with my family we will definitely be staying at your hotel!

The hotel is absolutely gorgeous!! The grounds and restaurants are outstanding and it's location is perfect. To get into the hotel we had to use a side entrance that had a ramp because the front had a few steps. The staff helped us out each time so this really was not an issue. Our room was very nice as well. We were given the "accessible " room but although the shower was roll in, there was no shower bench...they said they used to have one but couldn't find it. Now we booked this months in advance so it should have been no surprise we were in need of a shower bench. They gave us a stool (18"x18"x18") HAHA.....and since that was not going to work, and the one other bench went missing they gave us a leather chair to use in the shower....not at all waterproof. (and now ruined). Again the staff was great and very apologetic. Sometimes my husband thinks he is the first paraplegic to ever visit Europe. Food at this hotel is very good and the breakfast that came with the room is the best we had, and you can have anything at the buffet and on the menu! Unfortunately we were only there two nights. We regret not spending more time at this hotel and in this beautiful city. The city does have a lot of cobblestoned areas, so wheelchair users beware. Also beware that the city becomes a garbage dump at night but is usually cleaned up by 10-11am. There are so many partying, piggy people at night. A bit like a continual frat party. We were a bit surprised that people did not treat their city better.

Wederom een fantastische ervaring. Bij aankomst was de kamer met upgrade al gereed! Prachtige kamer (715) met verdieping. Enige was dat we geen elektriciteit hadden in de kamer, maar dat was vrij snel verholpen door maintenance. Als goedmakertje kregen we champagne aangeboden. Het euvel was dan ook snel vergeten...

Het gehele verblijf was dan ook weer uitstekend. Het ontbijt, de service bij de receptie de kleine versnaperingen in de middag op de kamer. Allemaal prima!

We had booked a room overlooking the garden. It was lovely however, the bed had 2 people sized divets on both sides. I have stayed in many luxury hotels around the world and this is by far, the worst bed I ve slept in. Seedy motels have nicer beds.

We moved to a large suite the next night. It was very large and private. The bed was better. Living room furniture is very cheap.

The hotel staff was politely rude. They did their jobs but if something or someone came up while I was speaking with the concierge, they would help that person first! Does that seem odd to you? I simply don t understand why we were treated like second class citizens when we were paying $1,000 a night for our room, plus we order room service almost every day, which let s be honest, it s expensive.

My last suggestion is to fill the bar. Everyday. A guest should not have to ask.

Thank you for your time and hopefully you are able to appreciate this feed back.

Lastly, I am a business owner, so customer service is very important to me and my business heavily relies on it.

You pay a lot a lot for a lot too little. I have slept in better hotels for 1/4 of the price. In addition, I had asked for some extra service and discussed this well in advance. But due to a bad communication in the hotel it was not possible. Only an excuse was offered for this. No more the Grand for me.

The hotel represents the maximum level of quality, attention and service that can be expected in hotels of great class. All the details are taken care of perfectly. The comfortable and functional rooms. The service of the breakfast of first quality. The unbeatable location to explore the center of Amsterdam. The staff service, from check-in to check-out makes you feel welcome and very special.

A very good luxury hotel, but only 4/5. the reason is from the restaurant during my breakfast. In the late morning it was not so busy in the restaurant, but I sit there for more then 20 min, nobody asked me if I want to have some coffee or tea. The waitress asked me to order, but she never gave me the menu, the restaurant manager(seems to be) was super busy to walk around,greeting people with perfunctory smile. Most of staffs in the restaurant are working inefficiently in my 3 days observation.

super friendly and attentive staff, both at the reception and during breakfast. The rooms are good but not spectacular. nice guest supplies from Hermes. Cakes and fruit at the front desk was super. And a bag in the car that was driven with water and an apple and such. very cool
