Last minute booking decision as it was our 45th anniversary. The staff treated us like celebrities. Will book again.

Last minute booking decision as it was our 45th anniversary. The staff treated us like celebrities. Will book again.
Updated room with a very friendly helpful staff. The lobby is confusing to find at first.. Easier to enter on the side that valet parks.
Close to lots of restaurants and shops.. only in room coffee is cappuccino. Overall a good experience!
The hotel is beautiful, rooms are very spacious and elegant. Bed is comfortable. Staff are lovely. Hotel is in a nice part of town, walking distance to Gastown & Canada Place. Very happy with our stay!!
Locations perfect, cool Cafe and Restaurant (Hydra), and very friendly yet professional staff.
The worse customer service I have ever seen. Put you on hold for 15 minutes, then if you call back and complain, they cut you off; again and again. So if you have any overseas guest with no knowledge of English and the town; forget this damn hotel. Never ever take my visitors there any more.
Had a short stay here and quite frankly it was not upto my expectations. It did not feel like a luxury hotel, just felt okay. We stayed in a Deluxe King room and it seems that my experience is echoed for the specific setup for these Deluxe King rooms. The room is very small, the square footage is wasted by the weird layout and it's hard to find a place to unpack. There was also a weird sewage-y smell in our room. The bathroom is quite horrendous. The shower is covered halfway with glass, but it doesn't go back far enough for it to cover any water splashes. So the water splashes everywhere outside of the shower, even with the super weak water pressure of the shower head. The shower head, as mentioned, is a joke. There're only little sprinkles coming down and it's hard to feel comfortable, and far from being "luxurious." Last, but not least the concierge seems to be understaffed, there are constant lineups in the mornings and the concierge desk is frequently empty due to people valeting out their cars. The only reason I'm giving this hotel a 2 instead of 1 is because the concierges, while being understaffed, were one of the nicest ones I've experienced.
Very nice hotel...I liked it very much. The location cannot be beat...so close to everything good.
A fabulous hotel in the heart of downtown Vancouver. The rooms are new, spacious and modern. The toiletries are from L Occitane; fabulous quality and they smell heavenly. There are several amazing restaurants, boutiques, shops and stores all accessible by foot. The EXchange hotel is part of the Executive hotel chain and you can utilize their reward program here. The staff are very friendly, helpful and accommodating as well. I highly recommend this hotel.

Very nicely designed rooms. Stylish, comfortable bed and pillows. Great staff
JUST SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE
I really really wanted to like to this place but somehow I just couldn t. The staffs aren t accommodating, the rooms are extremely small (well, the ones I was given - I stayed at the King Deluxe suite), the bathroom is weird and the air ventilation needs a re-evaluation. For a luxury hotel, it really does fall short.
Oh, and their breakfast area and dynamic is quite confusing - it is not buffet style so be careful what you order or else you will pay the difference even if You ve paid for it with your stay. And the wifi works occasionally
Disappointed would be an understatement to describe this place
However, the lobby is beautiful and the elevator is very fast, modern and high tech but that s about it unfortunately.
I definitely would not be returning neither will I be recommending this hotel to any friends or family
Excellent experience here. Room was sealed off after cleaning. Service was excellent. Nice boutique style room. We ended up staying an extra night. My recommendation would be the hotel should facilitate Tesla chargers available for hotel guests to use. I ended paying $25 to park on P1 to charge. So 4.5 out of 5
Hotel is quite nice, new everything throughout. But still under construction. We were somewhat disappointed by the bar which was overly strict about wanting a drink ticket in exchange for a glass of all juice for our 18 month old.
New place but somehow felt very sterile and missed the ambience of a nice cozy hotel
Rooms were big but not practical floor plan
This is a lovely hotel right in the middle of town. It's not quite finished but I can imagine that when it is, it'll be incredible! The rooms were comfy and pretty large although didn't have a lot of 'functional' space - we were staying for a week and it was quite difficult to find room for all our clothes, I ended up with a lot on the floor. The bathroom was lovely, with an excellent shower, and the complementary toiletries were L'Occitane, which was very nice indeed! However, despite the hotel's best efforts to be environmentally-friendly (providing soap instead of miniature body wash bottles, installing special heating and air con systems, etc.) it still felt like there was a lot of waste - for example, they are currently offering a breakfast service in the reception area (I presume until work is finished on the restaurant) and everything is served in greaseproof paper bags, plastic bottles and disposable cups. I hope this is only a temporary measure until the restaurant is up and running but it would be nice to see fewer throwaway items used, especially in a hotel which prides itself on being so eco-friendly...the bedclothes were also strange to us European folk: instead of a full duvet cover there was one sheet under it and one sheet over it, so if you move at all while you sleep then chances are you'll end up in a right tangle of bedding by the morning (and also end up in contact with the duvet itself, which in a hotel feels slightly uncomfortable...I thought the point of duvet covers was that they could be washed and replaced without you having to touch the duvet that gets shared between guests...). Having subsequently gone on to stay in another Canadian hotel the system was the same, so I assume this may be a North American thing - still worth any other British/European travellers bearing in mind though, as it felt quite strange to us. All in all a lovely stay - we would definitely come back here if we ever visited Vancouver again.
Modern, friendly staff. Great location near the harbourfront.
Checked out the same day we checked in. Disappointed with this hotel. The room was very cold, put the heating up and it wouldn't work. Probably because it's a renovated building. The place looked like a renovated apartment. Was not set up that nicely. Very dark, not enough lighting. Bathroom was not as clean as I would have expected it to be. I really wish they would give us our money back, we didn't sleep on the bed or move anything around. We checked out within hours of checking in.
The hotel seems very new, rooms and common areas were extremely clean. Parking was safe and secure.
Nice hotel, clean rooms and location is great, internet wasn't working at higher floor so they changed my room to a lower floor. I think for an upscale hotel they need to do a better job making sure all rooms have a good signal!
I only stayed for one night but the hotel itself was beautiful. Everything was brand new and well layed out. It was my birthday and I didn t tell them this but they put out some birthday treats for me, nice touch. The staff were friendly
Hotel was great and so nostalgic. Elevator system is different cause they had to keep the heritage look and feel the same. Love the fact that it was the old Vancouver stock exchange building.
Check in was fine, but when I went to my room for a nap prior to dinner, I peeled back the sheets and found a large yellow stain! I went to front desk and they said they would send sheets of to my room. After paying 200$, I am not going to make the bed too. So they gave me a different room, but instead of an upgrade, I was downgraded, and due to lack of availability. The staff were very unhelpful, and for the most part unpleasant. The rooms are quite small, and in my second room some of the lights didn't work and the bathroom sink wouldn't drain. I will not stay here again. I would recommend you find different accommodation.
We had a bad experience with Exchange! It was an unplanned visit to Vancouver and we were not able to bring any personal stuff with us. My friend who lives in Vancouver talked highly of rhe hotel and recommended for us to stay there. My husband tried to call front desk to ask for a dental kit but nobody answered. Then when I got home to the hotel, I asked at the reception for a dental kit once again. Daniel, the front desk only gave me one kit and said another one will follow. He called somebody on the ohone to deliver the other dental kit to our room. But none came! I won't ever recommend the hotel to anyone as Customer Service Experience is very poor. This is sad seeing that it is a 4-star hotel but very poor service.
Impeccable service! Patrick, at guest relations, was very polite and accommodating.
the only thing I didn't like was that you can't turn on the fan in the bathroom there was steam all over the place when I took a shower
Great new hotel in the heart of downtown Vancouver, close to rail transit, sea wall, shopping and fabulous restaurants. Rooms well designed, very clean and nice breakfast included. Valet parking a bit pricey but safe location. Restaurant not open yet but will definitely return on my next visit.
Staff is professional and nice. I had a great experience at check in. Rooms are comfy. Good location and free parking is a bonus. The only issue is (and I seen it in other reviews too!!!) the edge of the bed frame sticking out. I hit my shin real hard. Elevator system is a little confusing or maybe I'm just old school..
First off, the hotel was still under construction so I'm not reviewing those items that were not available.
I thought the staff was wonderful and helpful. Everyone seemed to always have a smile and were happy to help.
The room itself is what brought my review down. I travel to Vancouver annually and generally stay elsewhere. The hotel I normally stay in was booked. The EXchange had a room for a little more than twice what I normally pay at the other nearby property. I thought the room was not as good.
There is no closet, the work desk is small, and there is no place to unpack a bag. The room seemed to barely hold the bed and the small amount of furniture it had. I would not want to try to cram two people in it.
On the upside there was a nice walk in shower and the bathroom floor heated up in the morning... not enough to pull my review up...
We had a great New Year Service. We just wish there was a public ice machine service. The staff was great on so many of our ins and outs service!
This has to be one of the nicest hotels I ve ever been to. The rooms are incredibly well done - the finishes, lighting, bedding and all. I got the room with the king bed and it was incredibly comfortable.
The hotel staff was very helpful, even with some unusual requests and the included breakfast had some incredibly delicious pastries - sweet and savory.
I d definitely stay at this hotel again, no questions asked.
Good location, nice and new, but also a bit weird. Lighting is not where you need it and too low. Our room was both hot and cold at the same time. It felt more sterile than elegantly appointed.
Perfection! Love, love, love. Will continue to stay here every time I am in Vancouver. Thanks EXchange.
I stayed at the Exchange for one night and it was amazing! The building was beautiful and the staff were all friendly and super helpful! The room was really nice. The bed was so comfortable and we even used the pull-out sofa bed and that was comfy too! The tile floor was also heated in the bathroom. When we checked in we were given a glass of presecco while we waited. Breakfast the next morning was complimentary and consisted of a wide variety of fresh pastries and fruit with juice and coffee available. The pastries were some of the best I've had in a while! The chocolate croissants were a huge hit!! Only problems: it was a little hard to find at first and there wasn't a lot of street space available when we were checking in. We did find a public parking garage just across the street, so that was helpful! We will definetly come back if we are in the city again!
Friendly to a fault staff, clean rooms, modern amenities, large bathrooms, complimentary wine tasting in the lobby from 5-6 PM, complementary continental breakfast, great location, all with the history of being the old Vancouver Stock Exchange building.Would definitely reccomend.
Incredibly location, super helpful staff and great value.
Lovely and professional staff with a great ambiance.
Didn't love this hotel. The location wasn't very nice. Didn't seem to be a very safe area. The valet parking was expensive, the elevator system was weird and the hotel room was just average. Overpriced for sure.
Beautiful space. Our room was large, as was the bathroom. The staff was very helpful. It is central to so many places, and it's right by the transit hub. We came in January, and the price was really affordable.
Great hotel and location. Staff were awesome and the hotel is very very clean!
Everything is good except that there is no self parki g and the valet parking is a little bit expensive.
The hotel rooms were really nice and roomy. Staff was also very nice and helpful
Stupid covid had the sauna and pool closed. As of July 10.
This place is a must stay! Why? Well first let's start with how friendly and helpful the staff are, anything you need they got it for you. The place is immaculate, always clean, love the elevator system it is very efficient and wait times are minimal. THE ROOM!! it was beautiful, big window that let's in tons of natural light with a little nook to sit on. The clean hardwood floors make you feel like your walking around in your dream room you dont have at your house, shower 10/10 bathroom lighting 10/10. The TV is big and the remote is cool and easy to work, king bed I could sleep in all day. And I neat little tablet the has shops and basically every function ever built into it. MUST STAY HERE this place deserves 5 stars
Booked this hotel online to stay during a conference in November. Can t say anything bad about the location. It is close to many shops and restaurants. The rooms are hi tech however the temperature control is a painstaking job!! The guests can only control temperature between 17-23c. Which is ok, however due the water cooling system they have, I was told to wait 20-30 minutes for a temperature drop of 0.5 c! Imagine waiting for the temperatures to adjust when you are back to the room after an exhausting day. Because of this I was awake a lot and didn t feel comfortable. Actually I was sweaty right after a shower in winter. I felt so
Miserable and they didn t do anything other than casually telling me that it takes a long time to make any adjustments. Definitely this is not the hotel for me! Also there is no in room dining service although there is a menu. There is no on site restaurant if you want to skip walking in the cold to get a meal in winter. I could have done better for the price I paid given that they are so many nice hotels to chose from.
Fantastic all around. Definitely coming back again!
Great hotel and great staff. Rooms were extremely clean and well cared for. Close to lots of shops and eating places.
Very nice... And in an excellent location. Smart TVs for Netflix and friendly staff. Overall excellent. We did not go for breakfast but I expect it was nice too.
A great choice for people attending a convention or going on a cruise... Or if you just want a great hotel in the best area in Vancouver.
While the rooms were a bit on the smaller side, i wouldn't let that stop me from staying here next time I'm in town. I was really impressed with how clean and modern it was, the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The location is perfectly central.
High end, great location tourist hotel., good and effective service, friendly and kind.not cheap but no hotel in Vancouver is..
Poor value. Very underwhelming and overpriced. Then they try and fleece you on basic amenities that should be complimentary (especially at the nightly rate they charge). No microwave in entire hotel. No business center if you need to print anything. Rooms are weird. mine had a giant pillar in front of the window which faced a construction site. Outdoor patio was closed for construction as well. Very inconvenient except the location.
Stayed one night before my brother's wedding.
Saturday morning we dropped off our car at the (forced) valet, with our luggage in it, and went to the venue for the rehearsal. We got back to the hotel about 2:00, checked in, and asked for our luggage to be brought up from our car to our room. I phoned down at 2:45 that it still hadn't arrived, explaining that we were waiting for our bags from our car and gave them the valet number again. 3:15 a bellman brought up the one backpack we asked be kept in the car, saying, "this was all that was in there." I phoned the front desk to explain we were looking for 3 suitcases that were not in the car, and not in our desk, and asked where they were. At 3:45 I phoned the front desk again, explained the whole story for now the fourth time, because we still hadn't seen our luggage. It was 4:10 before our 3 suitcases arrived in our room.
The rooms were beautiful. So clean, could almost smell the fresh paint. It is a brand new hotel, heated floors in the bathroom, nice modern decor, great location, and mostly kind staff.
If I hadn't had been so disappointed by the lack of communication that we sat around waiting for 2 hours, thinking our luggage might have been lost, it would have been an amazing stay. Aside from the luggage incident, it was great, and is why I rated 4 stars.
I end up staying at the Exchange hotel after Hotel le Soleil cancelled my reservation at the last second without any warning. Although I didn't get what I originally booked at Hotel le Soleil, I still give 5 stars to the EXchange for being clean, modern, comfortable, and in a nice area of town.
It's the little things. Do you want a classic, historic building that has been restored to a modern hotel instead of a sterile new build? A Energy efficient LEED Platinum hotel? Easy convenient plug ins near your bed (also many USB and regular plug ins on the desk)? Heated tile floor in the washroom? A hotel in the heart of the CBD? Well, then this is a great hotel for you.
Nice, tidy, modern rooms and exceptional service from staff
Hotel brand new. In the same downtown. Close to everything and very good service!
pros:
The staff was friendly and helpful.
The washroom floors were heated.
Cons:
Despite booking a Superior King room, we were given a queen. Downgraded because they had over-booked . Basically, they gave my room away.
As someone else commented there were no hooks to dry towels, no closets or hangers. But despite the comments, it s still the same in November.
The tv had a crack in the screen so it wasn t working.
The pullout couch was small. It was only good for a small person, about 5 ft. It was a twin size.
There was no fan in the washroom.
The shower was a weak dribble.
The room temperature could not be adjusted. We were uncomfortably cold all night.
There were three elevators but a long wait to get to street level. Only saw 2 elevators working.
I would not go back there again. Our stay was a stressful night at the hotel.
The Management should be shot. They opened too early because they don t have capacity for the people who are currently booking a room.
The hotel location is great and staff is friendly. However, I was disappointed for couple of reasons.
2. Similarly, the offer for the parking was $100/month. This figure was later changed to $200/month. I had to negotiate down my parking to $100 for the two weeks that I stayed. They did not honor to give me the parking for a month still. I was treated as if I am given a special offer while they were supposed to honor what had been offered.
It is truley a hidden gem in downtown Vancouver. Design of the room, details, details, details...
All the staff we encountered are super courteous and resourceful. The property feels warm, cozy and inviting.
Room is spacious. Continental breakfast breakfast included. Nice location near cruise port
Beautiful hotel. Rooms are very nice, clean, and modern. Staff seemed very accommodating.
However, upon check out, I forgot a couple items in my room. I called back the same evening and was told my things were not found. After spending over $1000 for a 2 night stay, you'd think your personal items would be safe. I know for a fact I ad left them there. Very disappointed as now I have to spend $380 to replace what was lost. Be careful as to not leave anything behind. The cleaning staff here is dishonest.
It's a first class hotel with an outstanding staff! Wish could have stayed longer! BTW the amenities are super modern and high tech
I liked the rooms and the late evening shift staff. Morning hotel lobbyist looks sleepy and watching indian spoken youtube videos . Overall its a nice hotel.
Excellent rooms, very nice decor, excellent customer service from the front desk and valet. Absolutely amazing deal for the price! Accommodates pets too.
Being LEED Platinum is a really nice touch too.
Nice hotel in a good location. The rooms are clean, and the staff is very friendly. One small annoyance, you don't have much flexibility in setting the temperature in your room. The thermostat only allows for a small range, and it didn't seem to work very quickly anyways.
The staff were very kind and service was good. The facility was pretty modern and eco too. Stayed at 1007 floor and the room was not clean and thats the only disappointment. There was hair on the toilet seat.. and the pillow had body odor smell from the last person. There were stains on the bathroom floor, sink counter, the faucet handle, the wall next to the coffee machine. The desktop was dusty where the plugins are hidden. Cant find the hot water for tea but thats not a turndown. Was overwhelmed by how terrible the cleaning was done. Made me wonder if the cleaning staff was short of time for the job or just really disliked tbe work.
My bf and I stayed here 1 night in February, 2019 and had a great short stay. We actually live downtown Vancouver, but my bf surprised me with a 1 night stay-cation. The hotel is beautiful, if you go look at their hotel pictures online, they speak for themselves. The building use to be the old Vancouver Stock Exchange, and has been restored with the perfect amount of luxury, and history. The hotel restaurant, Hydra, was not opened at that time, however all staff were great with us, and they made sure to answer all questions we had to make our stay that much more special.
I'm posting this review months later (June 2019), as I recently went to the now-opened hotel restaurant, Hydra. We were SO happy to randomly call one evening and to have made a reservation, as we 1) loved the hotel 2) love Mediterranean cuisine. For appies, we ordered the Hydra Special, Grilled Octopus and Ceviche, amazing, especially the Hydra Special which is thinly sliced zucchini - doesn't sound like much but it was amazing! For Entree we ordered the Black Cod and lamb chops. I am a lover of lamb, and these lamb chops were probably one of the best ones we have had in Vancouver. Everything was amazing, our sever Krista was great! We even got a tour by one of the other servers to their night bar/day coffee lounge downstairs. Personally, I eat with my eye first, and from the decor to every plate served, it looked and tasted amazing. I have raved about both this hotel and restaurant to all my friends, and hope that it is successful, as I love seeing great establishments open up in my city. Bravo !
This is such a beautiful hotel. Spectacular.
The rooms are so clean and beautiful, the location is amazing, and the staff are so friendly and helpful. Everybody was above and beyond.
Concierge let us borrow umbrellas and the front desk staff was more than helpful. The housekeeping staff in the hallways would always greet me and ask if there was anything they could do.
Truly amazing hotel from top to bottom in all categories. You truly feel welcome here.
This great hotel is right in the center of Vancouver's sites. The staff is friendly and very helpful.
Beautiful hotel, lovely room, and nearly all the staff were delightful. However on arrival the receptionist referred to my wife as she and wouldn t directly address her. It was very odd and after getting off a long flight from the UK it was not a pleasant welcome. I must stress that everyone else was incredibly nice.
Omg this is the best hotel in Vancouver! Don't miss it out!
Worst hotel management and valet I have experience. Paid for valet to park my car and got a parking ticket!!! Management promised to pay for the ticket in June. They never paid for it. Never replied to any of my calls or emails after. Had to pay for it at end because the ticket was going into collection and can ruin my credit . This hotel is not legitimate business go with something more credible.
Big rooms. Good service. Great location. Nice street view for Vancouver.
Absolutely love this hotel. Staff have always been amazing and helpful. Rooms are top notch very clean and good size. You can't beat the location my new go to hotel for downtown
Really great hotel, in the heart of the financial district just up the street from the cruise ship terminal and a 15-minute walk to Gastown. We stayed in a deluxe king suite, it had a compact European feel to it but the room was in excellent condition. We stayed 2 nights and left the housekeeping light on during the day while we were gone but no one ever cleaned our room so make sure you check with reception in the morning/at the beginning of your stay if you are expecting fresh towels/linens. Room also got a bit stuffy after showers so make sure to crack the window for a bit if you can. The bathroom floors are heated which was a really nice touch! The reception desk was on the 2nd floor which was a bit weird, and you have to rely on the friendly bellhop at the door to notify you (there is no signage).
Stayed twice, definitely no complaints. Good staff, nice room, adjustable heated bathroom floor.
Really lovely hotel. Great staff. Beautiful amenities. Comfy pillowtop bed.
The staff is really helpful and I like the hotel room.
We stayed at this hotel on Oct 20th and booked it just a few hours prior. It was a last minute decision to stay here and we were celebrating my birthday. The lobby was amazing and the staff was super welcoming. We were offered a drink and appetizers (DELICIOUS!). Then we were taken to our room, which included a martini bar! The bathroom and the room was beautiful and looks exactly as advertised. They also brought a neatly wrapped box of chocolates and a signed happy birthday card by all the staff!! This was super thoughtful as they did not even know it was my birthday until we got there. We felt that the service was individualized and we were well taken care of. We will definitely be staying here again and recommending this hotel to our friends and family!
So bad! It s disgusting that we find other people s clothes and underwear in the room!
Very professional polite friendly staff, the most comfortable beds ever and gorgeous decor. They are pet friendly and the in-house restaurant Hydra is my new favourite!!!
Truly great experience. Everyone was both helpful and curtious, the rooms were very well done, and the location can't be beat!
