The Bier Markt King West Review

Great visit as always. I very much enjoy their wide selection of beers. The update to the Esplanade location is very nice.

On the weekends there is a DJ and a young crowd of 20-30s. There is also a dance floor and a good selection of beer. I was disappointed that they didn't have Dab beer or Sol.

If you can get past the horrible hostesses then this place might be good, but it really isn't worth dealing with the horrible people managing the door.

Great selection of beer and food. A quiet patio on the esplanade and funner atmosphere than the king west location.

Great location. Good ambiance and nicely tucked away in Esplanade. Obviously great beer selection and good eats too.

Good place to watch the game. Lots of screens.

Make reservations well ahead of time, food is alright it let's face it you're there for the drinks and they're pretty good but not spectacular.

We booked the backroom for a dinner training and were neglected. 18% service charge was added and as a result felt that the staff had their "tip" and didn't care to uphold decent service. We had a group with food specifications such as vegetarians, gluten free and dairy free and none of the food was labelled. No tongs were given at the start and had to wait a long time. We had no one to come to serve water. I had to go out to get a water jug 2-3 times and waited awhile. I called the following day to have the manager call me but received no call. I feel like no one cares there in providing good service.

Great beer hall. Solid selection of worldly beers, including hard to find ones. Food really good, and love the fact the menu suggests the best beer pairing for each dish. Recommended!

For years this has been one of my favorite spots in the city, great for an international tour of beers.

Waited for 23 minutes for a waitress to come take our order! After 10 minutes we went to the hostress to ask for a waitress she said two minutes and still no one came! So we left after 23 minutes. Sep 25 th 17:15

Fantasic selections of craft beer and great vibe with live band. BMP Krew was on and they were really good.

Definitely the best Bier Markt location in the city.

Has sadly become somewhat average with pretty watered down beer on tap.

Nice selection of food and drinks, and a fun place to spend a weekend evening. Great music and the dance floor was fun! There were some delays with our food and drinks but it was a very busy night when I visited.

The food is always excellent - I can't recommend the cheese fondue and veal schnitzel enough. The beer menu is almost overwhelming, but there is truly something for everyone. The staff is also very knowledgeable and willing to help you choose something if you're not sure.

I've always found the service really slow, but generally good in quality.

Love the place. The street noise was painful though.

Really enjoyed the extensive selection of beer. Had many new IPAs I had not tried before. Service was friendly and fast.

Went to The Bier Markt as part of a Plant Night on Monday night. Arrived early to have drinks and we were seated at the bar, with no bartender currently on shift. Waited twenty minutes to order overpriced flight of 4 beers. Server in the Plant Night area was better but we withheld from ordering anything else.

Nice bar and atmosphere, friendly staff and great selection of beers. Overpriced in comparison to other bars with a similar offering but everyone will be happy at least.

I don't normally like bier yet did try some of their light bier and truly enjoyed the strawberry one.

Seems to be chronicly mismanaged, reservation was for 5:30, was seated at 6:00 in a half empty restaurant, manager said it was because the kitchen was in chaos. Constantly out of beer. When cooked properly the drunken duck wings are fantastic, though not so much when the middles are still frozen. Feel sorry for the wait staff who seemed to really be trying but we're let down by shortages and uncooked food.

Good spot for some decent food and a great selection of beer and other alcoholic drinks. Service was nice and the interior is cool, lots of TVs to watch sporting events.

This place is a new microbrewery with 150 types of beer from 22 countries. It has a very modern look and entertaining atmosphere!

Great patio and drink selection. Service was very good until we paid our bill after which we were rushed out. Took our drinks unfinished as we used the bathroom. Apart from this it was a very pleasant experience and a place I would recommend. It is not uncommon to have servers rush you out after payment but it's still a negative hence 4 stars instead of 5

service was great, beer was cold. Calamari was fantastic. burgers were a little dry and i they made wana add some more fries. Creme brulee was a delicious desert.

Had an awesome time during raptors game! Considering that they were extremely packed service was excellent, drinks and food came out super quick and everything was awesome! Thanks to Allan for everything!

Absolutely loved it great beer and good atmosphere. I would definitely go back.

We went here For an exciting family get together and we left feeling a bit disappointed. Our waitress was very slow and the meals took ages to arrive at the table. Once they did, more dissapointments arose. The burgers were very dry, and the meals werent servered as ordered. The food in general was quite good, don't get me wrong. But it was definitely a let down.

Great service, very helpful. I really enjoyed myself.... but I kept seeing one of the chefs tasting the food with his fingers; that ruined my appetite. :(

Pathetic food and service. Had been with my friends after our graduation. They took an hour to serve us food when it wasn't even busy. We had ordered fries and that was the most awful fries I ever had. They had just reheated it and gave it to us. It was soft and greasy. We just left the place right away. Disappointed!

Good food. Great service. Parking is a bit of a pain during lunch hour.

Food and beer is good but expensive. But I always ended up coming back. It's something about that place ..

Sat for over 15 minutes. Server came by once and didn t take our orders but said she would be back. Never came back.
We left and let the greeter know on the way out. Didn t care.
I won t write the obvious and say we will never go back.

Great collection of beers paired with a good variety of food options, served by a friendly and experienced serving staff.

Went there for a work party. Employer had rented out the whole venue so could not tell how it is on a regular night. From what I could tell tho was that the food was great and the selection of beers was second to none.

I love it, I love it. Great atmosphere, and friendly staff. Can't wait to go back.

I never seem to come here enough. It's a very popular location with a variety of people from friends night out, coworkers, couples. Their beer selection is obviously great and the prices are better than you would expect. And our server, Oscar, was amazing.

Good patio, good collection of beers from around the globe, but the menu is a bit tricky to go through (ask wait staff about the way it's separated , they'll help find you the right style)

Great spot for a bite before the Raptors game. Food was good and a plethora of types of beer! Enjoyed the Garden Melt, but really just a glorified grilled cheese sandwich, not much vegetables. A very busy place; we had gotten there early so it was quiet, but as it got later, the din got louder. Definitely not a romantic place but great for groups of people.

My husband and I have always gone to the Bier Markt when visiting Toronto, but the last time we went we weren t a fan of the menu. We stayed in Toronto and decided to give it another try. The place has been totally redone and it s absolutely beautiful! We chose to sit on the patio and it was so relaxing. The only problem is the homeless people begging for money. We had about four of them within our three hour dinner. I know this isn t something that is in the Bier Markt s control but that was pretty annoying after a while. They were out of our favourite beers but our server Jackson told us about another one to try that was similar to our favourite. We drank it and it he was spot on!!!! The knowledge of the staff when it comes to pairing and knowing every single beer that is sold is just amazing!! The food was out of this world. I can t even begin to tell you how amazing the steak is. It blows the Keg out of the water! Thanks for an amazing time. We will definitely be back!!

Food is super salty , even for the other two people on the table I was eating with, they had the same issue. We got steak (New York and Angus beef ) and fish/chips.

Decent bar food but the service is poor. Came here with a group for a scheduled event and spent over a thousand dollars, the restaurant didn t even bother telling us there was an event right after ours and ended up rushing us out. Messed up our orders several times as well. Overall a pretty disappointing experience will not be returning.

The slightly feminine male server seems to think he's the smartest man on the Esplanade. Little does he know he is serving lackluster food with an attitude because his role as a stage hand at the Ed Mirvish theatre didn't take off as planned.

This place is a complete waste of time. I would recommend McDonalds before this place.

Courteous greetings and service with great tasting food. The only problem is that drinks and food were slow to arrive; otherwise, great place to hangout for the night.

Still good beer. Staff is hit/miss wrt knowledge of their products. Thankfully I knew what I wanted. Band was terrible that night, ive heard much better on previous visits.

Came in for a beer and ended up having 6 pints and a load of food. Weekdays are quieter than weekends.

They have good beer but they have bad service I waited for ever for water and my bill

I am writing this review to save other people from the terrible experiences I had at this restaurant. First, I ordered one of the most expensive items on the menu: a small sirloin steak. When it came and I first bit into it, it was very salty but when I kept chewing it began to feel like I was chewing a car tire. I chewed and chewed and chewed, but to no avail. The meat never seemed like I should risk swallowing it. So I didn't. I tried this experiment three times. Finally, I gave up, amazed that anything, let alone sirloin steak could be this hard to chew. In a lifetime of visiting restaurants, all over the world, this one was the worst. The french fries were frozen, mass produced, the mushrooms were canned. Then, when I sent back the steak because I couldn't eat it, I was given a hamburger which was my chosen substitute. It tasted pretty good. I finished it. We left and I did not eat anything else for the rest of the day. By five o'clock that afternoon my guts were in an uproar. I had to visit the toilet three times before all was out of my system. I hope anyone reading this will never eat at the Bier Markt and have an experience similar to mine. The only reason a star is checked is because this form will not let me post it without a star.

Always busy, but food is what you would expect from a corporate conglomerate pub. Servers are always friendly and on a good night, you might luck into some live music.

Used to be the go-to place for beers. I was disappointed to learn they downsized their beer selection but decided to give them a go anyway. First, the Goose Island was probably not the best choice of an addition, we didn't like any of their beer, but hey to each their own (we ended up moving to the bier markt side). Second, neither of our waiters seemed to know anything about their beers. We're not talking about any complicated requests, simply an amber recommendation, or a pilsner or something. One waiter didn't even know what amber was and gave us a regular blond to try. Their lager selection is now a joke, it's your basic LCBO list. The saving grace is the food, which we actually enjoyed.

The food was just as disappointing as the service. Maybe one star is a bit harsh but the wound of the egg never showing up is still fresh

Awesome place with a large variety of biers and diverse entertainment. A little bit too expensive though...

The food was aight. I got a small cold poutine for $9 not impressed. Happy hour is before 6pm and after 9pm so again that sucks but the staff are nice even though not enough staff so long wait time. The bathrooms are clean, ambiance is okay, for a beer its an okay choice.
