Very awesome selection of beer and good food! The fries and pretzels were very tasty!

Excellent bier, of course, is their forte. The choice is superb and unique. The menu has a good selection of food options. It is conveniently located near the Union Station and is perfect for a night out with friends and family. It is preferable that you book in advance for seating, as it can get busy super fast and seating requires a lot of waiting if you have not booked earlier.

Beer selection is second to none. They always have something exciting to choose from. Food is always a sure bet, but nothing too inspired. A great place to spend the afternoon on the patio or for dinner after a game. Service is always excellent.

Delicious food ans good for sharing. A little pricey though, especially considering the relatively small size of the servings.

Beer selection is great, especially the rotating taps for local breweries, but food is just OK and service is terrible.

Wasn t a fan of the atmosphere when I went on a Saturday night.. the food was just regular pub food (burgers and such). Not impressed; but I would give it a second chance!

This is my second time at the bier markt and both times we had a very bad experience. After waiting for 10 minutes for somebody to show up to get us seated we were told that they were understaffed and that we needed to wait longer. It was Tuesday night and there were not that many people there. The previous time we had to wait for our beer for more than 20 minutes. Bad service.

Always busy, I'd recommend a reservation if you're going at a busy time. Food is pretty good, love the drinks menu. Really enjoyed the cider mojito. Service is usually pretty quick. Typical Toronto pricing.

Good service but don t order the schnitzel. Both variants we got were abhorrently bland. Order a beer (or 3) and just stick with their amazing duck wings! Double portions on Wednesday!

No host so walked to the bar. Get looked at like we are interupting the bartenders texting and talking with eachother. Got some drinks slammed in front of us and bartender walks away. Had to grab our own menus. Food was ok. Bartenders very rude to server dropping food off. No wonder its empty on a Saturday night.

Visited Bier Markt on a Tuesday evening & while there were a reasonable number of people in the restaurant, it was certainly not crowded. Our group (of 6) discovered that this is definitely not the Bier Markt of old when the wait staff were knowledgeable about what they were serving & the service was reasonable. The first 2 beers I asked about (from the menu), they did not have. After waiting almost 25 minutes to find this out, I ordered an Erdinger Dunkel, which they did have (we'd been there 35 minutes by the time we got our first drink). One of our party asked for pineapple juice (our server didn't know if they had it). The food was hit & miss. I had the pork schnitzel which was huge but had had every drop of moisture cooked out of it although another of our party had the pasta & they said it was perfect. All in all, the service was incredibly slow (it was this bad the last time we were here as well), and the beer selection, for a place that claims to be a beer pub, was extremely hit & miss. We agreed among our group that we would not be returning.

We visited the Bier Markt on the Esplanad for lunch and were sorely disappointed. We ordered the pretzel as our app and a pork schnitzel and rigatoni bolognese for our mains. Soon after I was informed they were out of the bolognese. I then asked for the fish and chips to which our server said they were out of that as well as all the pizzas (!). I then got the Markt burger. Our app and mains came out at the same time. The pretzels were dry and burnt and didn't come buttered. My burger was awful - dry and flavourless. The slaw with the schnitzel was flavorless and looked unappetizing. We won't be back and do not recommend this location at all!

Good service and selection of food. I wish they had more vegetarian options

I'd love to tell you how great the food is, but I never got to try it! After waiting 10 minutes to be seated, and then watching servers walk by and ignore us for another 15, we left. I could understand the wait if they were busy, but they weren't.

We're now 2 doors down at the Amsterdam Bicycle Club, where we were seated (and served) right away.

Will never set foot in this place again. Here's why: After a two hour wait at the bar they seat the 8 of us at a booth that can barely hold 6 people. We don't know what to do with our coats. No coat hangers, no place to put our coats. And then we realize there's a $3 coat check. How is this possibly acceptable for a bar/restaurant? Then halfway through the dinner the live "music". Oh god...who allowed these people to sing? What should I do if I don't want you to sing for me? The girl is screaming at the top of her lungs like a dying cat and I'm supposed to enjoy this while having dinner? I ask the waiter how long this is going to go on for and he says he's not allowed to talk about this...meaning that the poor kid is already going insane there.
As for the food, I got the "big" double which was the size of one regular burger. For $20 I'm actually very disappointed. It was dry and overpriced. The beer selection is good and fresh. I would give them one star for this but it is still overpriced. Two pints cost us 18 dollars before tip.

The food and service is good and the restaurant is very clean and has an interesting theme. Overall enjoyed my experience.

Beer and drink selection was excellent. Food items were of varied quality, ranging from good to inedible.

Food is decent, love the ambiance, it's a good for place to go with a group of people for drinks and maybe dinner.

Very DISAPPOINTED with the service here! Our dinner took forever to get to our table! When it eventually got there, it was still missing one of the items to our order. Though the manager was beside herself being apologetic about the poor service we received, and waved our entire meal, we paid our bar bill leaving hardly a tip for the absentee waitress; whom by the got our drink order to us in minutes, but forgot about us and our order. Luckily we had tickets to Bruno Mars afterwards. He saved our night out TO!

Great service and food. Music a little loud for 5pm on a weekday.

We celebrated my best friend s birthday today and We brought more than 25 ppl there. The service was beyond horrible and the food was very bad too. We got there by 8:10 pm and left the place at 10:30 pm during that time we didn t even receive a glass of water from the waiters. We ordered drinks by 8:30 and we didn t receive our drinks at all. We ordered stakes and they didn t even asked how we would like our stakes. So they brought rear cooled stakes and it was impossible to eat. Will not be recommending this place to anyone anymore.

Like the food. the quality and the service were also good. The chicken schnitzel was my fav.

So slow we walked out from the bar after 10 min and no one even approached us. Long time visitor and was disappointed.

My friend ordered on the rocks and when it came there was no ice.Even a lemonade tasted like finger bowl water.I will avoid this place.

We went for a late lunch at around 2 pm. We ordered and then after we ordered we were told that we didn't have an item we ordered, then tried to order an alternative which was also not available.

We ordered a pretzel, pork schnitzel and a burger.

About 1 minute after we got our pretzel, our mains came out, then we were asked "how were the first couple bites"....

The burger came out and it was dry and Luke warm. No condiments were brought out.

Overall a terrible experience. We have been to the Bier Markt at the shops on Don Mills, which was excellent and why we went there.

We will never go back or recommend the Esplanade location.

Rich atmosphere of an old world brew hall, excellent food and large list of drinks.

Great schnitzel and spatzle and variety of beers. Good selection for happy hour too.

We have been there a great number of times and I always liked the place. Great selection of beer and pub grub with a German twist. However in the past few times we have been there it was quite a disappointment. Tonight was especially awful. The server was rude, forgot our waters to start with. And the food wasn't great. My friend went for the 3 cheese dip with bacon and ended up a grainy and chunky sauce with uncooked thick pieces of fatty bacon in it. I had the schnitzel with dumplings, cabbage and gravy. Must admit the whole combination is weird, the cabbage was undercooked and the whole things was swimming in oil. Quite disappointed overall, such a pity because it's a used to be great place with great food. I don't know if you guys changed chefs or management but step it up!

I had a sharing platter which was exceptionally worth it! The pretzels were freshly made and their salmon ceviche was beautifully paired with a zesty dijon. Definitely coming back!

Went there to watch a raptors playoff game and they refused to put the sound on. The beer took forever to get to us even though it wasn't busy. Stella pints aren't full pints they are the 40cl glasses. Food was half decent. My steak came but I didn't have a fork for the next 5 min.

Meh. The food is low quality but the beer list is extensive. Staff wasn t particularly friendly or helpful. Not the worst but I d recommend going elsewhere in the area.

We were seated without menus, had to consistently ask for service or call for attention just to order. The beer selection is great but the service was a real let down.

What a great place. This was my first time there because i do not really like beer. But I now have a new found respect and love for beer. (well some of them) Specifically the frulii... Love at first taste to bad you cant by this at the lcbo or maybe a good thing for me But i do not mind going back because the atmosphere was great. They will definitely be seeing me again.

Brought my dad here for his birthday. They were out of sweet potato fries and the pecan butter tarts.... Both of which were my dad's favourite things.

This place sucks I hate this place
From the manager to the staff: they kept asking us to move even off the side walk at the end of the night, as if they own the sidewalk . One waitress asked us to get up and 30 secs later calls security on us . She didn't even give us a chance to tell the rest of our group. We were all drinking beers therefore we are paying customers. Worst service ever!!!

Great beer menu, and possibly the worst burger I've ever had, especially for $20. I've never had such a bland burger in my life. Don't go for the food.

Lots of different beers, expensive to eat here, but nice for a treat.

The atmosphere here is always great. Live performances are on point. Just maybe 1 or 2 hours before they close, it's not as friendly as it was in the beginning.

The service is truly awful. They have a DJ on Fridays who I don't know where they found her, but seems to have an attitude only matched by her truly bad taste in music. Actually told people.. Not asked, but told people to "NOT STAND NEXT TO HER.... " Yep.. That's Direct quote.

Not really liked this pub restau impersonal home, were placed on a table in the dark and we had to ask to change. Not much choice in the menu, but good choice of beers and spirits. The atmosphere simply lacks warmth

One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had! We ordered a variety of food and honestly everything was awful! Not to mention the service was terrible! I hate paying for bad food/service! Beer was okay. I won't be returning.

We used to love this place. But after the reno's is seems their service has really gone down hill. The staff seated us at a dirty table and when they came over to clean it, sprayed us with their detergent...
The food was extremely salty as well. The drinks were as expected. The Bier Markt will no longer be our go-to for corporate outings.

Lots of beer to choose from. Not the cheapest place in town, but good for some variety.

Great atmosphere, well shaded, great food and a very good choice of beers. A bit pricy, but we'll worth it!
