Really good spot. Spacious, clean, extensive drinks menu. Surprised they didn't have ranch or couldn't recommend another dipping sauce to go with the pizza. Otherwise, really good and would recommend

Cozy, casual spot. Good place to come before a concert or live event. I absolutely love their rigatoni bolognese - tasty, flavorful, comforting. Service can be slow at times but everyone is friendly and kind. We wanted a non-alcoholic lemonade drink that was not on the menu and the bartender whipped it up for us with no problem. Definitely visiting again.
We went in the mid afternoon on a weekend so the restaurant was definitely not busy. Unfortunately, the service received was quite poor: the server seemed very annoyed and impatient, she did not visit our table often enough to check in, I had to bring my bill up to the cashier because she never returned to take payment.
The food is solid: good variety of German beer Hall snacks like pickles, pretzels and cheese and mustards along with modern fare like poutine, kimchi, poke etc. Huge variety of beers on tap and surprisingly excellent cocktail selection. Price is ok, typical for what to expect in the downtown financial district.
Went here early Saturday afternoon. Great selection of beer and the sever was ok, forgetting a lot though. However the eggs I ordered was well done when I asked for over easy. I sent them back, they gave me back the eggs without a fresh plate and they were worse then the first one. The waitress apologized and said the order was free, however the eggs were hard and cold along with the rest of the plate. I talked to the manager and he didn t care one bit, the eggs of another at the table were also bad and we told him. He shook his head as he left. Food was horrible and not worth the hype. The calamari was soggy and without flavour. Why so negative, we ll when you are paying top notch prices you should get top notch food or at the very least problem solving managers who make it right. Not recommended.
Absolutely worst customer service and an unprofessional manager. Sophie (the hostess) gave unnecessary attitude to me and my friends. Specially in times like covid where 8 people are trying to come in and enjoy a good time. We were patiently waiting for our table to get cleaned up and after 10 minutes of waiting they still didn't sanitize the table. The manager assumed I was being rude to Sophie and tried to wrongfully kick me out. Never coming to this place again.
The kitchen didn't make my bison steak right and the manager made sure everything was right. You don't see this type of service at many estabs unless you actively complain. I only mentioned the diff between medium-rare and medium to the hostess and the manager was over shortly to replace the steak. Will continue to make the Bier Markt a destination.
This place used to be great. Then they got bought by those Swiss Chalet/Montana's/Harvey's folks and turned it into a crappy chain. So many better places to get beer and pub food in Toronto.
Love the fact that this place turns into a club at night! Chill crowd and a good time. If you're a vegetarian the only thing you can order is the vegetarian flat bread which is not listed on the menu and unfortunately it's very mediocre. Tip: ask for ceaser sauce to go with it.
It's a shadow of its former self. I loved Bier Markt a number of years ago, but lately it's an overpriced tourist trap like most of the other places on the Esplanade.
On a cold day their piza oven keeps the room warm. I found parking just out side. Walked past their Christmas Tree. The bar is long and curved. Seating at the far end has the best veiw of the prep deck and kitchen.
The bar keep had great recommendations. Food was great.
When you stop in, tell them Joe sent you...they will say Joe Who...that's me...
Called in advance and made a reservation. Ended up beside one of the loudest talkers I've ever encoutered and next to a window so the echo made it even worse. Food was okay, but honestly my burger was borderline cold. Wouldn't recommend given the number of options in the area.
The friendliest service I have received in a long time. Waiter was very relaxed and pleasurable. Food took forever but we enjoyed the server keeping the drinks full and the live band that was playing.
Went on a Saturday night. The service was slow and our server made a few order mistakes. I wanted to stay for some dancing, but was disappointed in finding out that was listed as a place with a 30s crowd in some online lists ended up having more of a 40+ crowd.
This place is amazing. A lot of good beer selections and the food isn't that bad. Kronenborg White on tap is a underrated in my opinion, and they also occasionally have Rouge. I have tried all the sandwiches are good, with the chicken being particularly generously portioned. The patio is also nice and you don't feel rushed by the staff.
Fantastic! So many beers to enjoy, love the selection of both domestic, Ontario craft (my personal favourite) and imported beers. The imports are not only German or European but really from all over. The food is well priced but not that great, a bit too oily and saggy. The design and the atmosphere in the place is really great, you can feel the energy and the wine. Will definitely go back. Waitress (Jessica). Was great, quick and very helpful and friendly.
Wide selection of beers. I try something new every time we go there. Still have long ways to go to try them all. Food is decent. Place gets packed on Thursdays and Fridays after work. I don't mind sitting at the bar as it gives me opportunity to chit chat with bartenders when they are not too busy. Servers are friendly and holly molly knowledgeable about their beer selection. Can't wait till patio season.
A long wait for a table on a busy Thursday night, so we elected to sit at the bar. The service was quick and friendly, despite the bartender being extremely busy (he alone was tending the bar). Bartender graciously offered a couple of samples before settling on a chosen beer. A food allergy mentioned when ordering dinner brought an amiable manager over for clarification. Dinner itself was delicious, and there was nothing but quality in the food, drink and staff overall. A very enjoyable experience.
Busy on the weekends. The big tv screen opens into a stage for a live band. Lots and lots of beers on tap. A good place to hang out dance and drink with friends!
Made a reservation on Monday for Saturday night at 7pm through Open Table. All was confirmed through email, and received an email from Bier Markt as a reminder. Saturday at 2:30 received a phone call to inform me that Open Table wasn t working and was over booking their reservations so my party would not be able to be accommodated. Incredibly disappointed, and now in a bind to find another reservation on a Saturday night. Definitely not worth it
Good food, an unbeatable selection of beers that come in their proper glassware, and a big patio make this a great spot for large groups because there is something to please everyone. Staff are friendly and service is pretty quick, unless you're waiting for a drink while they live music on. A staple of The Esplanade.
Came down for drinks after work with some friends. The food looked so good we decided to have a bite. Charcuterie was spot on with a large portion of cured meats, and some homemade pickles that reminded me of my grandmas. Decided on trying the 40oz rib steak to share withy friends and it's was out of sight. One of the best I've had for much less than you'd pay elsewhere. Definitely will be back for a more planned dinner!!
Good music, beer selection, and food. But the management appears not to know what they're doing. This is my 3rd visit over the past few years and they have been chronically understaffed each time. Wait staff seem to be really busy but can't keep up. Some guy who looked like management was walking around with a counting machine vs helping out to deliver the orders. Food orders were 45min to 1hr, drink orders easily took 30min or more. Our table of 8 would have ordered at least one more round if the waiter showed up more regularly. Multiply that by the number of tables and you can see how much money they are losing, plus- we're unlikely to return. Unfortunate.
Great place to go anytime. Tons of different beers on tap and an amazing vibe with live music on Friday and Saturday nights. The live music was great with talented players. The beer selection is amazing and you can find pretty much and type of beer you could hope for. I wouldn't hesitate to go back again.
I haven't even been to the restaurant yet but based on my dealings with Brianne? who spoke to me on the phone,it must en a great place. She was sooo helpful and so accommodating for a large group booking I made that I am confident that everyone will have a great time when they get there.
Good beer selection, though they might not have a popular keg or product that just came out. This location is absolutely gigantic compared to the King Street spot. The menus are nearly the same, and service is good. The servers are knowledgeable and speedy and also make good recommendations on food and drink pairing. Good to see a well oiled machine...just need some water next time!
Excellent food, if you don't die of starvation before it arrives. The incompetent waitstaff was a constant annoyance instead of bringing the things we ordered. Recommended, if you're patient.
This is a nice pub to hang out with friends. Good ambience, nice music, quite relaxing overall! They have a fairly decent collection of beverages to choose from! Also had the nachos, calamari, sweet potato pizza. Their large nachos were fairly good for two to share and so was calamari! The only "not so pleasing" dish was the pizza.. It was nothing as described in the description but more like a buttery tortilla, with some sweet potato chunks, and big green herbs on the top.-was disappointed, so taking a star off the rating!
Apart from that, it's a nice hangout place to sit, relax n enjoy the evening.
I went here on a sunny Sunday afternoon. We we on the patio. We ordered a beer flight each and a fish and chips to share. Before we even got our drink the fish and chips came out. The fish was over cooked, please see the attached picture. We flagged down our waitress and mentioned that our drinks had not arrived yet. She informed us that the bar was backed up and they should be out shorty. Okay that is fair. A few minutes later I saw 2 tables that came after us get their drinks! At this point we had finished our meal. Then another table got their drinks who also came after us. Next thing you know our drinks come out. It Literally took 30 mins to get 2 beer flights. The name of this restaurant is Bier Markt, you should have the capacity to produce 2 beers flight in under 10 mins.
The only saving grace was the beer. Food and service was a fail :(
Good beer selection, lots of space, Patio is a great summer spot. Food is fine but overpriced for what it is. Have tried lots of dishes over multiple occasions, chicken avocado sandwich is the best I've tried here.
