You need about 4 hours here if you want to immerse yourself in the experience. Items to note:
-A couple of the exhibitions don't have time markers. I tried explaining this to the staff after they miscommunicated the next entry time. -Recommend the business also prohibit entry with backpacks, unless someone has a small child with them if course. People kept hitting me with their backpack as they turn around lol

Dude, this place is Awesome!!! Really trippy, very cool!! Would highly recomend scoring some trip and checking it out!!! Lots of fun, even sober, but it could be so much better if ya hear me knocking, It's just a visual mind blowa!!! Fun for all ages and all states of mind! Don't miss it if you are in the neighborhood or have the opportunity. It's not to expensive either, about 30 bucks for adults and kids under 3, free. I thought it was great!!!
A very cool immersive experience. Each room is different and changes every minute you are there. I arrived late and wish I had more time to spend inside. Also wish there were slightly fewer people inside but still really nice experience overall.
Ok, first, the place itself was cool, liked it. but... we booked our tickets beforehand. Unfortunately we had a little trouble at getting to Japan and werent able to visit at the day we booked the tickets, so we were only able to go there the following day. We asked the management if there is a way to get into the museum, because we werent able to redeem our tickets at the day before. But they just said that this is not their problem... I was kinda shocked, and went there again to ask if theres nothing we can do, he said: "Go to the Ticket Mashine and buy new tickets"... i asked for a discount because we payed 25 per ticket and werent even there, but: "no discount possible"... so jeah, we payed 50 for a ticket and were very angry because they didnt even try to solve our problem, listen to us or find a compromis that would make us happy. they had our money and the rest wasnt their problem.
4 Stars for the Museum 0 Stars for the Customer Service
Very attractive digital exhibition. Make sure to buy ticket in advance, if not you will stay in a long line to enter the exhibition area. I went on 11 a.m, but the queue line was already long so teamlab crew suggested us buying 4pm entry ticket. And it closed at 7pm. So we didnt have much time to explore the whole exhibition.
Really great place to see boyfriends of Instagram in their natural habitat. Crazy light shows and projections, and worth the visit. Just put your phone down and enjoy every little thing that's happening around you.
Excellent. I d say avoid the floating nest though if the line is an hour. Ours and general consensus of others we spoke to said that it wasn t worth that wait. Great experience all the rooms
Ticket is about 3000 yen and you have to book in advance though it is must see exibition. There are many rooms with projecting, led lights and objects installations that are interacting with you.
Totally worth the trip out to visit this amazing exhibition. Very interactive, highly stimulating and a little bit of something for everyone. Well thought out and easy to move around, there s a sensory overload around every corner. Highlight has to be colouring in your own creature and following it fly or crawl around the room trying eat or be eaten by other creatures! Get there early before everyone looking to update the social media profile gets there because with so many amazing backgrounds there is a lot of posing!!! Also advise booking tickets online
Absolutely amazing! A completely new take on how to be a museum. Giving this lovely sense of being part of the artwork where light, sound and touch guide you through a wonderful experience.
Great experience. Spare some time to get lost inside of it, wear comfortable and stable shoes, bring a camera and all your senses. Some rooms were really bad for my motion sickness but overall it was a great experience
Purchase tickets in advance in order to avoid potential disappointment. At the time of writing, the website may state tickets are available at the entrance but that is quite rare and can change quite quickly depending on how many people have purchased tickets online. Despite going on a Sunday, there was no wait to enter. You can easily spend 1-3 hours here enjoying the beauty and creativity of lights, mirrors and more. See the pictures for a glimpse of the interior.
This place is amazing! Be prepared to queue (like anything good in Tokyo) it s worth the wait and the experience is immersive, some of it is interactive, and visually overall stunning
Absolutely captivating place that isn't experienced any where before! Interactive art being the most interesting, there are just too many different themes without teamLab Borderless that just blows your mind away. Prepare to spend at least 4 hours if you want to fully immense yourself and experience fully for each area. There isn't a map and this is done on purpose for one to explore without a fixed itinerary or a planned path. Nonetheless we did cover most if not all the different themes and 'secret rooms'. Many have read before going so believe there may be some attraction u wanna go first. Staff may tell u straight away or just give u a hint which direction the place is. All is good except I thought the Floating Nest is NOT worth queuing for if u see a long queue. I don't think it justifies a 30 minutes wait. But overall, what a awesome experience!
The place is huge. Can easily spend about 2 to 3 hours here. The place is dark and full of people. Recommend going there to line up early to beat the crowd.
I m not typically a fan of art museums but this place blew my mind. There are absolutely stunning interactive digital installations. You ll want to spend a few hours inside the museum itself but make sure you also factor in waiting time. Even with advance ticket purchase you can easily stand outside for an hour and if it s raining you will not be sheltered. Best bet is to get there well before it opens.
You can enjoy unique thing in this place. My favorite is tea house. After enjoy to play athletics, it can be nice place to take rest and have tea. At the table you can enjoy the unique technology too.
We had high expectations since we had heard and seen so much about the space and the exhibits. Being Graphic Designers ourselves, we were mostly disappointed and unimpressed.
'The Crystal World' was immersive, 'Memory of Topography' was an interesting play of scale and props, 'Light Shell & Light Vortex' was impressive in it's use of light coordination and synchronisation.
However, these alone did not redeem the overall experience, which was lacklustre and unimaginative. The scale and technical capacity of the project is impressive, however we were let down by the simplistic, repetitive and mostly meaningless content of the computer generated graphics. The motion graphics in most of the areas were like glorified screen-savers projected on to a large canvas. Their interactive capabilities were limited, predictable and dumbed down and in many spaces, where each individuals presence was supposed to affect the artwork, the interaction could not be experienced due to the constant presence of a hundred people at a time. After waiting in line for 45 minutes to see 'Floating Nest', we were terribly disappointed by a massive immersive screen space wasted with more meaningless computer graphics. It could have been sensational but the grandiose concepts are lost in translation. The only saving grace was that we got there at 9am and didn't have to wait in line for most exhibits.
Borderless is a good photo-op for selfie lovers, only looks good in pictures, and is overrated.
A very unique museum experience because the art is interactive and you're immersed in a world of light. It's easy to get lost inside but that's okay because every room you wander into becomes a surprise. Don't miss out on this if you're in the area.
This place is magically wonderful. But my advice is, whether go to this place with someone you like as a date or go with your friends or family who can be your photographer because the view is marvellous. Totally instagrammable (i don't know if that is even a real word!)
We went with a nearly 3 year old and all loved the experience. Our son would have stayed longer if he could (did about 3 hours). Some really impressive and cool things to see and participate with
Indoor amusement technology experience. Essentially, it s very dance-clubish art exhibition, but with much better lights. Extremely ambitious in terms of scope, the art exhibit is a multi room LED light, projector, and sound experience. Some rooms are absolutely brilliant, while others lack the expected functionality or environment. Some rooms are supposed to be interactive, but not all work with expected results. As is usual in Tokyo, expect lines both outside and inside. The line-up for the entrance was about one hour with prepaid tickets and was located on the far side of the parking garage, not at the entrance; lines inside for some special rooms were 1/2 hour for a two-minute experience. There is a tea cafe inside (with an interesting interactive function), but no lunch. Eat before, and buy your ticket online prior to arriving. Big hit with kids and dates, but arrive early. Can recommend.
Not as good as Planets. Which is a shame as this place is amazing, but in comparison to Planets it s just average. Only and purely because of how busy this place is. It kind of ruins things - whereas at Planets you book a time slot and the crowd numbers is lower, at this place it s just a free for all. The rooms were full of people looking for the perfect instagram photo so you couldn t just walk around and take it all in because you were pushed and bumped out the way by people jostling to take photos of them posing rather than enjoying the experience. In one room I actually started to wonder if the girl writhing around on the floor while her mate took photos was actually part of the art...
One of the most wonderful, stimulating experiences of my life. Highly recommended! Plan on an hour-long wait in line (outside) to get in, and plan on staying for at least 3 hours, maybe more. Eat beforehand as there is no food once you enter the museum. Lockers are available to store your bags so you can hop around the dozens of rooms unfettered.
So crowded, so many visitors that makes kinda hard to get good photos. The exhibition was so so, just a bunch of projector with animations all over dark places. Personally I think it is not so worth to spend the entrance fee...
An absolutely mesmerizing experience. I can't express anything in this review which hasn't already been said. To reiterate, do book your tickets online in advance prior to arrival and come early otherwise there's a chance you'll be turned away or suffer in a long queue! Not sure how it was any different the day we went (Sunday morning) but they allowed guests in before 10am which is when it's supposed to open. Needless to say, we made valuable use of our time going through the exhibits many times with no wait. Pay this place a visit and venture to the nearby Gundam Base if you're a nerd like me. The location of these and other attractions is worth at least half a day of your time!
It s very spacious and there s a lot to see, so would recommend spending at least two hours here. There s no set course, so you can wander and discover however you like. It s otherworldly and beautiful. Lots of people on weekends.
Completely ruined by instagram influences blocking pathways, screaming kids, and so many phone flashes it s ridiculous. Going during the day, you re also waiting an hour in the hot sun. Either go at the very very very end of the day when crowds are less or go to one in a different country. I went to the same show in Singapore and there were no crowds. Not worth it at all in japan.
Amazing colors and super cool shows in each different room. It does get super crowded so definitely get in early. Expect 1 hour wait times or more per room at peak time.
Great exhibition that was really immersive. Missed out on a room at the lines were about an hour long. It's a bit of a trek to get to unless you're staying in odaiba or shimbashi.
You can easily spend a couple of hours here. Also great for kids, with a few kids-only spaces for climbing around. Definitely check out the tea house for a fun experience.
Jam-packed with people, but likely one of the most awe-inspiring art exhibits you will ever see. A must-do, but truly best experienced first-thing in the morning or during an off-season.
Regardless, it is massive, and extremely impressive. It was genuinely an exhilarating experience, and if you can appreciate art it will appeal to you on a whole other level. Even if you are totally not into art at all, you will still be engaged by what you see and do here.
The exhibit takes 1-3 hours depending on how thoroughly you explore.
Definitely worth the entry price. The art exhibition was fantastic, lots of drink and toilet spots inside. Be sure to go before it opens and line up. It gets very crowded inside after a few hours and the line to get in when we left went around the car park block.
Awesome. Would totally recommend checking this place out. Great place to take kids as well, they will love it! There was a very long queue out the door and well down the road when we went, so expect at least a 40 minute wait to enter and make sure to book tickets online at least a few days in advanced.
If you are going I recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes or you can use the shoe exchange facility at Borderless. There are so many exhibits so allow yourself plenty of time (3hrs +) and some will require queing for around up to 30mins.
TeamLab exhibit in Tokyo. Great exhibit with good photo opportunities if you re into that, however my photos don t look near as great as what the exhibit looks like in person. A handful of areas to explore and there s great opportunity for you or your kids to get involved in the exhibit! There are stations where you draw and design animals, and the workers will scan your drawings in so that your designs will appear in the art displays! So cool.
Be warned, the exhibit is not like a regular art exhibit in that the art is digital and you can interact with it, so it can get pretty crowded and rowdy with all the groups and families playing through the exhibit. Also, there are portions of the exhibit where you have to wait in line to get access to, so expect that if you want to see it all.
Best to get your tickets online in advanced since they sell out most days. It is frustrating considering that the website is mostly in Japanese, but if you are patient and have the time to translate through the process using google, it s worth it!
The area around the exhibit is pretty neat as well. Tons of shopping and restaurants, A concert venue (Zepp Tokyo), and Odaiba is just a short walk away! Great area for a day trip to explore a portion of Tokyo!
Wow. What a place. It is pricey but worth the visit. The light in installations interact with you. It is interactive art. Give yourself a minimum of 3 hours.
Definitely not suitable when you travel with little baby, the cancellation and reschedule policy is very restricted. Think twice before you make the booking.
Today my little baby get sick in last minute. The (unfriendly) staff rejected our request to reschedule the ticket, thus we are forced to carry the baby in fever to complete the tour.
Well. you really have to be careful when a facility has such policy because other people have no choice either and your kids will be playing with them.
If you are traveling with little baby, feel free to skip this facility. This one is only good with teenagers.
There s a place called little planet in diver city. They don t need reservation and their activities are more suitable with little baby before 7 years.
We loved this place. Buy your tickets in advance and arrive early. Long queues! The top floor is the favourite for small kids, they can draw , play, etc. The ground floor in an amazing visual adventure for all ages.
Great place for a unique experience that can only be enjoyed in tokyo. However it is really really crowded so don t expect to get shots by yourself. But it is still worth the trip and you could easily spend anywhere from 2-3 hours getting lost in this new type of museum.
This place is absolutely amazing. I have never experienced anything like it. My frog, which became part of one of the exhibits, multiplied many times. Take the time to visit this place.
TeamLAB Borderless was by far one of the greatest experiences I've ever had. Being fully immersed in the visual genius provided by this team made me feel like a kid again in awe of the sights. I spent about 5 hours here and could have spent more time there if I didnt have to go. I've been to exhibits like this in America but none compare to this. Honestly one of the best things I've ever been to in my entire life. Please do yourself a favor and go. I'm definitely going to try and check out any of their future projects.
Overall is an eye opening art show....but queue at floating nest and lantern room is rather long till human line form a boarder even during weekday...a good place to kill time if you've nothing to do in Tokyo...
Amazing installments. Fun interactive areas for kids on the upper floor. Cool cafe that detects your cup and projects images of flowers into your drink. Best to go in the morning. Also need to book tickets about a week or two in advance.
This is a beautiful place. Each room is definitely a piece of art all its own. Even on a weekday, it was crowded and waits for some exhibits reached the 40+ minute levels. I think there are so many instagrammers trying to get that special photo, that sometimes they become loud and obnoxious in some of the exhibits and ruin the beautiful music, or the haze of colors and light the room utilizes to create the experience. Also they stick around at a spot for wayyyyyyyy too long. Not a knock on the place itself and that means it's a beautiful photo spot, but if came here to appreciate the artistic-side of teamLab Borderless, you could leave frustrated. Actually, some exhibits are so quiet and harmonious... then, a gangle of people show up yelling, laughing, and snapping flash photos though they were told not to. Maybe that is the real art, and it in itself says something about humanity? Just my observations... had a lot of fun
Really cool place. Certain exhibits require a ridiculous amount of queuing (sometimes over an hour per exhibit). Go first thing in the morning to avoid queues (do the queued exhibits first before it gets busy)
This place was really crowded. I had to queue for like 1 hour. The place is really modern. The place is really full of lights. When you are inside this building, you can see various effects of colours and shapes. The flowers blossoms, the flowers scattered, the sound effects, the movements of several animals (like real, but they are are lights),the waterfalls, the landscape inside the building, the lampions, the sunflowers, ect. Watch out the mirror.
Supposedly for children, but children are basically harassed by staff at every step. Even things in the children rooms are off-limits or so over-regulated (climbing, bouncing, sliding) that they're not enjoyable. The children were so excited when they arrived then they were bored.
Also, zero disability access. An important lesson for Olympics planning: don't build something potentially amazing, then give people a terrible user experience.
Horrible customer experience. You have to book in advance, not knowing what you're getting. The place is badly designated. Since there are no time slots, too many people come at once, so it takes at least 45min of cueing to get in, which nobody warns you about beforehand. Having seen the cue, we wanted our money back, but couldn't get a refund, so we ended up cueing for almost an hour. Very unfriendly staff. Inside the exhibition is huge, but very repetitive and not really artful. It is more aimed at kids and youngsters and caters to everyone's taste, lacks artistic strength. On top of long cueing outside, 2-3 special exhibits take additional 30min of cueing inside the exhibition (really not worth it). All very flashy, lots of cheap video projections of multicolored flowers, leaves, branches and water in motion. Overall cheesy, with some corny 'omg-i'm-so-happy' cartoonish music that is playing loudly in the background. We ran through it and were done in 30min. We loved Tokyo, food, people, shopping, nightlife, culture, but this museum was the ONLY huge disappointment on our Japan trip. WOULDN'T RECOMMEND IT, NOT EVEN TO MY ENEMIES.
Go early as it gets really busy. We got there at 9 and got a coffee and lined up, waited to 9 45 and they let us is and it was really quiet not lining up for anything. By the time we left at 11 45 it was crazy busy
Loved getting lost here. They don t have any maps only signs inside it s basically a big dark building. My friends and I loved going back and forth into the rooms as the rooms change after time as well. My favourite room would be a tie with the lantons and water lily room.
Hot tips Wear white Some floor are mirrored so be aware of that with skirts and dresses Expect to spend a whole day here
So cool!! My only tip for this place is show up early because there is SO much human traffic in this museum it is ridiculous. Also be curtious of others.
The art was great but it was too crowded, especially at the Forest of Lamps. I had to queue up for 40 mins and could stay there for less than 3 mins. Also, the color of the lamps was random so I could see 1 color only. They should limit a number of visitors per day.
They do not reply to emails through their official website so there's no way to contact them about problems with e-ticket payment (I was charged but received no confirmation email or tickets so wanted to verify with them), unless you could try making an international call which I haven't tried.
If you are only selling advance online tickets you should at least get the customer support team ready for any emails and problems!
I waited 5 days but still got no reply, and now all tickets are sold out for next week when I'll be in Tokyo, not impressed at all.
Equal parts modern art museum, interactive children's science museum, circus fun house, and trippy psychedelic nature experience. Really bizarre, extremely peaceful, and utterly cool. Very family friendly but also not boring for adults. It's pretty expensive but well worth it and something that you could easily spend hours doing. Be aware that some of the exhibits have very long, slow lines.
It was a lovely exhibition, the lights were spectacular, but I wished there were more information on how many rooms there were and some maps around. It was like a maze inside, which made it difficult to navigate around and to know if we have visited all the rooms.
