Sushi is so fresh! Got the platter and the black cod choices.. the green tea is also really great. Best thing is that tip is not required because they pay their staff well! Well done!!

Very good midtown sushi. They have an affordable lunch menu.
If you can give 0 points, you must give 0 points. Are those local guides collecting money and writing deceptive comments? Do n t know how to get a Michelin star in the United States? Worse than a sushi restaurant without Michelin in Japan !!! It is only a little better than revolving sushi, it is expensive and unpalatable, and the service is poor, plus a bunch of chefs like in the mixed Yamaguchi group ...
Came back here after my first visit years ago. Still top notch. Order omakase.
Overrated! Service was terrible. We reserved for the bar but they sat us in a separate room furthest away from the bar. When we requested to move, the manager insisted everything was already full. Even though we noticed there were plenty of open tables without a reservation sign. I would never eat here again. You get treated differently especially if you are a person of color. Don't waste your money, go to any other omakase in New York
OK, first of all, I really appreciate our waitress, she did a good job. But that's probably the only reason I give three stars. I know whether it's overpriced is subjective and I know dish with uni usually expensive. But I would love to bring some discussion here.
For a unagi dish, eel and rice are super important. This time(the first time I've been to here), the rice had too much water in it. At certain point, I was feeling eating congee. Second, the eel had way too much fish bone in it. I don't know, be honest, whether that's the traditional way cooking eel, but this is probably the first place I had so much bone and few of them were not even soft to swallow. And this is a winter special dish, they added uni on the top. Very good quality of uni, but totally ruined by the rice. The rice was too moist and warm. It totally took the best of part of uni, the freshness away. I can't say I won't pay a visit next, because I do like there uni. So figure crossed, hopefully next time is a good experience.
Ordered the lunch box with eel cucumber roll. Sushi was good, but nothing special.
the zagat review begins, if god ate sushi.... is there anything more that needs to be said?
I finally can check the place off the list. Came for lunch. Atmosphere is perfect, customer service top notch. Sushi was very good, but wouldn't put it above other top sushi places in NYC. I can't put my finger on it, but didn't feel like that top tier that the other top tier Manhattan places have. 5/5 service atmosphere, but the sushi didn't wow me the way other places do
Mouth watering sushi. Every piece literally melts in your mouth & it is phenomenal. Very clean and polished restuarnt with a calm atmosphere. Hot green tea is a must.
This place was perfect in every way possible. My expectations were blown away of how perfect everything was. Every piece I ate was made with such precision and expertise. Everything seemed so simple yet thought out perfectly to make the whole experience just magnificent. Not to mention how attentive and respectful the staff was.
If you really want to eat authentic and great Japanese cuisine, you should definitely make a reservation here.
Yone Shurin Yin, super good luck, Honsoku , other , ! !!
Michelin recommendation, super delicious, wanted to give service charges, they also refused, service is really good!
Michelin's recommendation was super-delicious, who wanted to give a service fee, they also refused, the service is really good!
As close and authentic as you can get from stuff in Japan! Really fresh and yummy!
At the moment you enter this restaurant team give you a nice feeling. Very comfortable waiters, it is a good place to pass time with buddies or with your date. Great cuisine, experienced chef de cuisine, competitive cost and generous service. Warmly recommended.
sitting with chef Yasuda made a big difference. not sure if I'd go back anymore...
How do you know it s authentic Japanese? THEY WILL REFUSE YOUR TIPS!!! A little bit on the expensive side but one of if not the best sushi I ve tried. Wonderful.
Good sushi restaurant, expensive and a little snobbish but sushi was quite good.. not amazing but good
Absolutely a spot worth stopping by, the food is good and well prepared, the rates are fair and it is constantly neat there. Highly recommended.
Portions are great, ambiance is really well done. I know there are a lot of great sushi places and this one is on top of the list.
Excellent quality with reasonable prices for the set sushi deluxe. However can quickly become expensive if you go ala carte.
very informative staff there and love to answer any and all questions you may have regarding menu questions.Sushi is fresh and the rolls and sashimi is mouth watering.Bloody Mary's and margaritas and martinis are made really great. Not too expensive but worth every dollar.Great atmosphere and it's a beautiful establishment.
pricy and inconsistent sushi. it can be heaven or lunch-box sushi depending on when you go.
amazing experience! you will never regret... thank you Chef...
Blah....decent but the arrogance of the staff is shocking. Made me feel like they were doing me a favor of eating there...decent sushi but wayyyy overhyped
Been here last April..today going back, best sushi ever
Way too overrated. Mediocre sushi. Quality cannot be compared with the Japanese restaurants in Hong Kong, Taipei, and Tokyo.
This was the worst dining experience of my life. My wife and I have been coming for years and we have now a four-year-old son. We decided to bring him to share what we thought would be a great experience. All he wanted from the menu was tamago which is egg omelette. When the egg came it was cold as that is how they serve it but my four-year-old just wanted it heated up a little bit. Every person at the restaurant from the server to the manager absolutely refused to heat up the egg for my toddler. I was about to spend well over $300 at this restaurant and they couldn t find it somewhere in their hearts to Heat up the Egg for my boy. They told me it would affect the quality of the egg and the consistency. My response was my full-year-old is not a food critic he just wants his eggie heated up a bit so he can eat with his parents. This was the most frustrating experience I have ever had at a restaurant And would tell anyone who is listening not to give these people a penny of your money.
One of the best sushi restaurant in nyc. Their sushi are always the highest quality and fresh. Sushi will melt in your mouth. I suggest trying the chefs choice or some people like to call it omskase. The sushi presented was nice and flavorful. Seasoning was well balanced with the rice and the fish. Overall I was very happy that I had an opportunity to try this restaurant. Cost is very expensive but worth every penny.
If you ever want pristine Sashimi this is the place to go. Relaxed atmosphere and nothing but gourmet Japanese Dishes!
I have come here with friends several times and the found is always good! Just updating this review to reflect my recent experience. Consistently good food and service.
Platter dishes were good but staffs were a bit unattentive
My favorite sushi place in all Nyc. Of course that's when I have the movie to blow $40 a person for a good selection of apps and raw fish. They have 3 different kinds of miso soup here. I also love tomago sushi and there's two different kinds u can choose from here too.
The best sushi I've ever had, bar none. Incredible variety, even more incredible chef!
I would say the rice is one of the best in NYC, and omaseke is pretty fresh, the orange sea urchin is one of the must try item. it feels intense when you eat there... and they are not that friendly either,
The quality is definitely not as good as before and not worth the money.
On 8/31/16, along with my two siblings I visited Yasuda Sushi. I do not know who is writing these great reviews but we had a horrible experience! Food is ok but nothing special. Variety yes and quality is just fine. Sushi pieces are tiny and no they are not so fresh they snap. I fish and I know fresh. Service is the worst. Everything in Japanese including the menu and be prepared for a language barrier with your hosts. Chaos everywhere from the moment you arrive at the door to your waitress. Service so slow with about 20-25 minute delays between servings. At the end a huge bill with charges that never took place and sushi that was never consumed. Don't even think or say the words OMAKASE SUSHI in this place. How do you say RIP OFF in Japanese? It was so bad my relative filed an Attorney General complaint and here is an excerpt of horror lived:
1. Yasuda sushi failed to explain the prices per each item consumed as part of the Omakase sushi order. Some of the prices were provided as a price range and not the actual price per piece of sushi served.
2. Yasuda sushi has failed to explain why the bill only reflected two instead of three Omakase sushi orders. There were three of us.
3. Yasuda sushi failed to explain why the bill reflected the total quantity of sushi consumed as 58 pieces for the 3 of us instead of 32 pieces that was actually served to us.
4. Finally, Yasuda sushi has completely ignored our request for an investigation of the matter within the requested time....
We live in London but have been coming to this restaurant for more than 10 years. The food has been consistently amazing and Mitsuru-san is truly a genius chef
Great lunch spot. Prix fixe options make this a good choice for a quick but high quality lunch. Have not been for a more leisurely evening meal but everything is very fresh and we'll presented.
Reservation a must and show up on-time or they give you table away. We were late but they accommodated us. If you never had Sashimi before, don't come here. Sashimi here is so much different than the dozens of other Sashimi places I've been even a few in Japan. It's unbelievable! Not fishy, soft/buttery. It's really a Treat. If you don't do the chef tasting, it's not terribly expensive.
The best sushi / sashimi I've ever eaten. Refined restaurant. Prices maybe a bit 'high
Your favorite sushi place has just met it s match. Incredible meal.
The fish is probably the freshest you will get in the city. There is a reason why Anthony Bourdain dubbed this his favorite sushi spot in NYC.
I really like the way they do their omakase. They keep bringing new courses until you let them know you are satisfied; they charge accordingly.
Great place for an upscale dinner, nice atmosphere and fantastic sushi.
Nice Japanese restaurant, the sushi are fresh and delicious. I recommend to sit at the sushi bar to make your experience unique!!
Mentioned in "Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown" this restaurant lives up to its reputation. Fresh, yummy ingredients and quick service set it apart from most other sushi establishments. It is pricey/hard to get a seat at the small bar though so plan accordingly.
fresh fish. friendly staff. quality food. excellent uni.
Sushi Yasuda was a huge let down. My wife and I went here on vacation and we were hoping for a good experience based on the Michelin star. The staff was not welcoming even though we had a reservation, the service was not very good, and the sushi was below average. Truly, below average!?!?! We live in the southeastern USA and the sushi in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Louisiana is as good or better (at one quarter the price no less). If you compare sushi yasuda with something like Mizumi or Yellowtail in Las Vegas, it pales in comparison (even Deep Sushi in Dallas, TX blows the doors off this place). To say we were disappointed is an understatement. How this place received a Michelin star is a complete mystery.
Went here for lunch on a work day. I thought it was OK -- clean, upscale (marked only by a fish logo outside), quick service. I am a big fan of Hatsuhana which is nearby, so it was hard to not compare the two. Sushi Yasuda had a more simple take on the food, and overall I prefer Hatsuhana more. The miso soup at Yasuda was lacking and the fish did not taste as fresh. We had two or three pieces that tasted very off. For a lunch, it was quick and got us in and out within the hour. However for the price point, I'd choose to go elsewhere.
Sushi Yasuda is a very nice Japanese restaurant having Michelin star (2019). The food was very fresh and delicious; and the service was also very good. It s a nice choice to taste great sushi.
My old favorite restaurant in NYC. I love how they streamlined reservations process. Must go restaurant in NYC.
The very best sushi in NYC, period. The omakase is insanely good. Is it pricey? Yeah of course. But, worth every penny.
Food is not that good... prices should be $$ though
Best sushi I've had. Be sure to reserve a spot at the sushi bar for the best experience.
Unreal omakase for dinner. The fish is phenomenal quality. Note that the price for omakase is dependent on when you tell them to stop and there isn't a clear indicator as to how much you will pay. If you ask you'll get a wishy washy answer but it is at least 150 per person for omakase. The lunch specials are particularly excellent value with a great convo for around $30. Tip is also not accepted at any point. They have seatings for lunch with time limits as well.
Pretty pricey, but the sushi was amazing! Very fresh and decadent. I hope to come back soon!
They were undergoing constructions. The staff were watching everyone and making sure no one takes photos even with their phones. Weird.
My boyfriend and I ordered Omakase for his birthday. The food was fresh and the chef was lovely. The restaurant is a bit loud but I think that is because of the open floor plan. For the omakase, you pay for what you eat which can add up pretty quickly but the quality is superb.
Everything was great and fresh. Nice respectful staff. Good drink selection.
One of the worst sushi restaurants of my entire life. Bad service and bad sushi.
Good if expensive sushi. Always have a delicious meal here, and am glad that I came.
One of NYC high end sushi place. A bit different in terms of ambience. Quiet, no background music or white noise.
Quality of food was good. Sashimi grade is not top of the class. Had better in NYC in same price range.
Ok ... it s a very good sushi one of the best! When we came there were so many people waiting and the host was very nervous the service was not as expected it felt like there is no time and we need to go beside that we order something and after 45 min they said they run out of it. This is is not expected in this level of restaurant but again the sushi was very good!!!
Wonderful sushi/sashimi place. Most authentic Japanese style. It is a bit overpriced, but delicious.
Sushi Yasuda offers traditional simple sushi without frills. The food here is fresh and the decor is modern. While I wasn't able to snag a seat at the sushi bar, I still enjoyed my experience at Sushi Yasuda.
They have a list of different types of fish that you can order as well as an option to opt for the omakase, which ranges based on "how hungry you are." After having been to other sushi restaurants, I was more used to choosing between a 10 piece omakase or an 18 piece omakase etc., however I was a little taken aback by the sudden freedom I had to choose whatever my heart (or stomach) desired.
My favorites were the scallop, medium fatty tuna, and the three types of eels. There was also a delicious black cod appetizer as part of the omakase that ranked pretty high on my list.
While the food and service was great, there are plenty of options in the city that offer similar omakase meals for a cheaper price. However, it's definitely worth checking out for the experience.
Extremely high quality sushi with a similar price tag to go along.
The food and sushi chef was amazing but the regular waiter service was remarkably poor. I rarely comment on experiences but this was by no means what was expected from such a fine dining establishment. The front of the house staff made an obvious and embarrassing error on the bill / payment process end even the sushi chef realized the service failure but the front of house was too foolish to apologize and correct it.
If I could give this place 6 stars I would. I ve been coming here frequently for years with my family and it s just the best. Great hospitality and great sushi!
"I WOULD LIKE TO GIVE ZERO STARS BUT GOOGLE DOES NOT ALLOW ME TO" I work at the Hotel Elysee as the Head concierge and If your looking to make reservations at this place, save yourself a headache and do not even bother. The worst and most unprofessional reservation staff I have ever encountered in my 15 years of concierge. Our Guest that we have sent in the past have not had a good experience and I can see why now. We never write reviews but when your business is being run bad your employees people need to know about it. We here at our Hotel are all about customer service and this restaurants staff clearly does not know any off. If your looking for Sushi restaurants in NYC there are plenty of other great places well worth trying.
troubling they charged us for someone else's item and we had to catch it
4.5 stars overall. With pricing akin to some of the top sushi spots in Tokyo this place delivers a fairy on par experience. It provides a rich, clean atmosphere with a sprawling sushi bar and private tables. The night I went there seemed to only be one senior sushi chef preparing sushi; the rest significantly younger. The fish was delicious, extensively prepared and flow in from all over depending on the piece. Would recommend checking it out even if a bucket list where one would want a top rated (and cost) experience and perhaps couldn't get to Tokyo.
I love this place so much! Favorite sushi restaurant anywhere. Sublime ingredients, perfect execution even after Yasuda San left. Been going for years, and never disappoints!
Very relaxed, minimalist sushi house, but so good. They don't accept tips! So im guessing they build it into price, but still affordable. Great sushi, pickled vegetables were crisp, not overly pickled or salty. Service was excellent. Definitely coming back.
Unbelievable ankou Kara age. Fantastic umeshuu. Sushi pieces were ridiculously small. They say they don't charge tips just like in Japan. Well, in Japan a good sushi place serves bites so big they hardly fit in your mouth. Picking and choosing traditions for the city.
Service, atmosphere is very good. The reputation seems high, but is it a good feeling owing to the cost?
Sashimi is not fresh. It cuts too thin too small. Tuna Toro need to at least need to be a decent size. Pls treat the fish with respect! We don t mind you charge a little bit more but please live up to a true Japanese restaurant food quality. Will never go back again. This Restaurant is overrated.
