My girlfriend and I purchased an m140i recently and I couldn't recommend this dealership enough. The experience was fantastic, we didn't get the usual sales tactics, we simply told them our needs and they fulfilled them and answered our questions. We dealt with Derek and John who were both easy to deal with and very accommodating even letting is bring forward the handover of our car and John came in early to do the handover. We will certainly be back in a couple of years for our next car. Thanks again guys.

This was down to Lee (in Sales) who was very professional, friendly, honest and above all, genuine. Honestly i am very disappointed with the service g...

Honestly i am very disappointed with the service given at BMW stevenage service centre. My car was brought in on the 26th June, because the car went to limp mode whilst on the A1(M). Came to get the car back on the 27th hoping its all done and fixed. They said they've done recall works. soon as i got on the main road the car shows the same half engine warning Light that came on on the motorway.

I immediately turn around and go back to BMW. Andy spoke to me and said they'd take a look and sort it at a charge, i agree and leave the car with them. emphasising that i'd need the car to go to work. bearing in mind that on the 27th i had to cancel work. 28 June i call in and i'm told they haven't found the fault and are still looking at the car. 29th today, i call them over and over and over again, no one calls back and no one gives me an update on the car till about 2 pm, that i'm told that the car is now going into workshop for the works.

I have now missed 3 days of work as i start 6.30 pm.. and am most likely going to miss another day of night shift.

I am very frustrated and disappointed with he communication and level of service given.

I'm at risk of loosing my job if this persists, i've explained this over and over again to BMW, I just want my car fixed and returned.

This is absolutely terrible, and i may have to take things further. if they actually manage to fix the car and i get it by today, that would be great, ill probably update this review. But lets wait and see.

I also know having used them first hand that the workshop is more of the same. Well invested in and helpful/knowledgeable staff. Also i got a great deal on the car i bought !

I went to stevonage specialist cars to buy a 3 series and i was greeted by Derek baker, who Honestly made It a lot easier than i thought, pretty much done everything for me. All i done was drink a can of coke and tell him what i wanted and he made it happen within minutes. He's a very professional and knows his stuff. Highly recommend going through him at bmw because he will make things happen and does everything to the best of his ability. Im very impressed with the service as im not one to usually write a review . Honestly top professionalism From Derek and will only be getting my cars from him in the future. Very happy customer:)

Terrible service, my family member went to get his car serviced two days in a row. No courtesy car and then the next day waited 1 hour to even be seen. Better off going to A1BN Limited on Gunnells Wood Road, excellent customer service and no waiting around for your job!!

Stevenage BMW dealership have provided me with the...

Stevenage BMW dealership have provided me with the worst experience I ever had. I have owned multiple car brands but after the way I been treated by this dealership. My bmw M3 will be for sale in the near future and I will be moving on. Absolutely awful experience. My car developed an issue where the car would have severe body roll under acceleration depending on the road surface and bounce on bumpy roads all from the driver side front. Not the normal bounce either! As the issue was from the drivers side.

After my research and getting feedback from independents, we believed it to be the driver shock absorbers/strut. In Stevenage the roads are not as bumpy or bad surfaces to see fully where the issue lays but still the car does not handle right to the point I would not class it as safe at high speeds. You can easily spot the issue. Gave my car with fuel, got it back with 16 miles, which i didn t mind, if they found the issue. They took the car on test drive, pushing it hard, which once again i didn t mind, BUT just to be told the car drives fine and there is no issue with it. How incompetent can you get, i advised them to drive a BMW M4 or M3 and then drive my car. Well they didn't do that did they?!



So, after multiple attempts and road side recovery to Stevenage BMW, just to be told the car drives fine. I ordered parts from BMW Cotswold to get the suspension replaced. New shocks/springs/top mount. We removed the shocks at the independent and could easily see the new shock compressed and depressed much easily compared to the current shocks on the car. Which would jam for a second or so. So we changed the part.


Anyways I ring up BMW and advised them the issue is fixed but I need the passenger side Strut replaced as they are meant to be replaced in pairs just to be told the because the MASTER technician couldn't find an issue with the car before and as i went out of my own way to get it repaired privately, they can t do anything. Well my cars been to Stevenage BMW multiple times and i been turned away, what do you expect me to do?
Awful dealership. Just can t believe the way I been treated. Take ages to get back to you. Never answer the phone. On a plus side the master technician were friendly chaps and the guy dealing with me was a nice guy. But being friendly and nice don t get you nowhere in this world, if you can t rectify the issue. Been multiple times where I nearly lost my temper but this dealership just isn t worth it.

I think the worst part of this whole experience is, you feel like your talking to a brick wall. BMW have lost there way. Bigtime. A customer would not come to you and make up stories about how his car does not drive correctly or waste his time or yours. All they care about is car in, car out.



Disappointed big time. Stay away from this dealership. If you dont believe me look at the other reviews.

The customer service we received at the specialist cars BMW in Stevenage was truly awful, well below the standard of what should be expected from a BMW-approved dealer.
We brought our BMW for a recall, left it there in the morning and agreed when they offered a courtesy service wash. What a mistake.......When we left the car the paint work on the bonnet was in excellent order. When we collected the car at the end of the day, we noticed that there were multiple area of flaked paint on the bonnet and a big scratch on the side.
We phoned as soon as back home, sent pictures and brought the car back the day after.
One of the staff looked at the damages, took pictures and told us that one of their manager will contact us to discuss the matter.
Despite multiple phone calls and mail , we had to wait nearly 3 weeks before we were told that the damages were already done when we brought the car etc... Complete lies , explanation given based on pure speculation in attempt to deflect responsibilities and condescending emails from one of their manager.
I would avoid to use this dealer at any cost in the future

Every time we book here there is a problem: they forgetting to book for the substitutive car, the appointment doesn t result to be booked and things like that. We asked 3 times when the MOT was due and the reply we received every time was they would provide to send us a reminder, and it never append. When we bought the car, we have been told the first MOT was free, but we had to pay because they could not find the voucher. I am really displeased, and I ve really expected more professionality from BMW. I will never use this service anymore in future.

If they tell you that you need a new tyre check it...

If they tell you that you need a new tyre check it for yourself before agreeing to have it replaced. Much better explanation required over the phone.


(Tiny cut in tyre which if you pull open with a small screwdriver shows the cords - apparently)



That said the staff are friendly, in particular the very lovely and helpful customer greeting lady.

Is there a zero star option?? Worst of the worst of the worst. Slow, never answer the phone, never call back when they promise to, never give you an update, and worst of all, my car came back with all sorts of different problems it never had when i took it in. It's BMW, at the least, they should know their cars and how to fix them. And it's not cheap either.

Took my car in 4 months ago due to a recall letter I received from BMW. Perfect condition nothing wrong with it before going in, but by the time these guys worked on it the car was an absolute mess.... After 1 day, Error messages, smoking, all sorts.... Since then it has been 1 thing or the other. They still haven't fixed it... And it's been back sitting with them last 4 months and they just keep saying something else is the issue, they fix one thing it takes them 3weeks, then they say it's another thing faulty etc etc. So much wasted time and money having to hire cars.

Incredibly horrible service. I'm not sure what the issue is, whether they are short staffed or whether they just are plain incompetent, can't be bothered or all three.

Only take your car here if you don't mind it being there for weeks or months at least or if you can afford to go in and sit in their office every day to get anything done.

If I manage to get my car back in working order, I will never ever set foot here again and will warn all my co-BMW owners also.

I was in the market for a new car and was undecided between an Audi and BMW. I finally opted for a BMW after a visit to Specialist Cars in Stevenage where I found their Sales Executive, Steve Tierney very professional and knowledgeable. Steve's communication before and during the sale was really informative, but not pushy and his after sales communication has been just as good. David Hannibal, Retail Sales Manager was equally professional and informative and he provided me with an attractive finance arrangement which sealed the deal. A real pleasure to do business with them both.

Overall they are good and although I suspect you pay a bit more for the main dealer service, they do seem to look after the cars and customers well. I would only say that the cost of their tyres are a lot more than I have ever found elsewhere.

The shining light at the dealership is in my opinion Paul Travers, the master technician. The service advisor did not seem to care about customer service. Once Paul knew of my difficulties he took over, kept me informed & looked after things perfectly. Nothing was too much trouble for him. I now have my BMW back & it is spot on again.

When we came to replace our existing vehicle, we spent a lot of time considering the options. We visited Specialist Cars in Stevenage late in the process and when we entered, we immediately knew this was the right choice.
Ashley, in particular, looked after us from beginning to end. He knew the product well and could quickly relate our requirements to the vehicles on offer and the options.
He kept us informed throughout the build process and we felt incredibly special during the handover.
You cannot go wrong. And, ask for Ashley - he is knowledgeable and professional to work with.

Agreed to purchase a new M135i X-Drive with factory options from Ashley Baulk just before lockdown . Finally got to collect it last week ! Ashley kept me informed by email during the whole process on how my order was progressing , and rang me on his return from lockdown to finalize collection . Everything was ready when he said it would be , was very knowledgable about the product and dealt with me in a professional manner . Would recommend him if you are in the market for a BMW .

Fifty percent of experiences go wrong in some way or another. This week I have asked three times for someone to cal me and got no response. At one point I even wrote to the service manager to point out the issues - and got no response. They always follow up and ask for feedback and always apologise, but it never changes.

I purchased a BMW i8 from Specialist Cars Stevenag...

I purchased a BMW i8 from Specialist Cars Stevenage in March 2019.

Upon purchase, I was told the tyres wouldn't need changing for 6 months, however while in service the following month, I was told the tyres need changing immediately. I was also told by the sales people that I could continue to buy warranty for the car after the initial year had run out, but what they had failed to tell me is that the car cannot be warranted past a certain mileage which this car was approaching when bought.

Following my purchase, the car required repairs at least every month, mostly multiple times per month (thankfully covered by warranty at this time).

Initially, Specialist Cars were helpful in sorting the problems as fast as possible and offering me any hire car of my choice claiming that I was a 'VIP' customer. However, this level of customer service quickly disappeared when they realised how faulty the car was and how much resources I would require. I was eventually being told that they no longer had hire vehicles for me and that I would have to wait weeks before a hire vehicle became available. When I was given a hire vehicle, it would be old and dirty despite me having to see clients.

I spoke to Specialist Cars about the absurd number of repairs this car required and I asked for a complete history of repairs since I bought the car. The rep proceeded to list out repairs carried out in February even though I purchased the car in March, this shows that they were aware the car was experiencing issues before selling it to me but sold it regardless.

There is nothing 'Approved' about their "Approved Used" policy, and they will use any strategy to sell to you.

My point of contact at Specialist Cars stopped answering my calls or replying to my emails and refused to offer any sort of compensation or even goodwill gestures even though I was always polite and never pushy. This is the level of customer service you will experience if you purchase through Specialist Cars. I've spoken to many other people and even other garages who have all had extremely poor experiences with Specialist Cars.

Stay away from them at all costs.

Awful, awful service department. I tried 3 times to make a booking for a factory recall and an electrical issue, was told each time I'd get a call back from the booking team, and never did. Only by contacting BMW on social media did I eventually hear from the service manager, who palmed me off to someone else to make the booking. I got a booking for over a month away, and was told a courtesy car would be available. 4 days later, I'm told that a courtesy car isn't available, and that I'd need to move the booking even further away if I needed one. I understand there's no money in it for BMW to do a factory recall, but I needed something else looked at too, and I pay a substantial amount per month on a warranty for my car so if it goes wrong (which it will, it's a BMW), I can get it fixed. It honestly shouldn't be this hard to even get your car through the door. Stay away from this place.

Looking forward to the computer auto reply asking to email details so it can be 'looked at' too.

I ve always purchased Fords so this was my first BMW experience & it didn t disappoint. COVID safe on every visit and made very welcome without any pressure. I usually only like to write reviews of positive experiences and praise good customer service but my recent experience with Specialist Cars, Stevenage and BMW Customer Service UK has been so bad that I feel compelled to highlight it. I had corrosion on all four wheels of my BMW X3 which I contested should have been replaced without a contribution from myself. My main complaint, however, is that it took BMW four months to finally reply to me.
I spoke to seven Customer Service advisers in total, some from BMW UK Customer Service and others from Specialist Cars. Each time I was fobbed off with an excuse as to why no progress had been made. My emails were not responded to and when I left phone messages I never got a call back. I was always polite and understanding but I have found that BMW complaint procedure is a farce, as no one has the authority to make a decision.
I had hoped that buying a BMW was going to be a positive experience in so many ways but, like so many others they fall woefully short. I smiled when I saw a recent poster that said, "Service that keeps you coming back". I don't think so.

Following the recent poor review I left, I must give credit where it is due and amend my score, from 1 star to 4 stars, given my experience yesterday. When I arrived with my vehicle I initially had a test drive with Stuart one of the engineers'. He was extremely knowledgeable and immediately diagnosed the likely issue with the car and subsequently took responsibility for fixing the problem. The "courtesy car" driver was very professional and the Service Consultant updated me on the progress with my vehicle during the day, as he promised to do. All in all a very good service

Truly awful customer service from service departme...

Truly awful customer service from service department, car booked for 2.30 waiting appointment for first service and enhancement double booking made by call centre to do this, not possible to do both so now have to go back again and leave car. No phone call or text message the day before to confirm booking at which time this could have been discussed, at least this time got phone call to say vehicle was partly complete, paper work was just given to me no explanation nothing about all the papers handed over. there is something clearly wrong in the service department as regards procedures and keeping customer informed. This will be my last BMW from this dealer.

Went back for the enhancement to be finished on my car today 16/7/18, what a difference in customer service dealt with quickly, courtesy car ready to go, updated through the morning car ready at time requested. Ed went through the health check explained all the paperwork and even walked me out to my car. Excellent service today well done.

Very poor customer service. The guy who was meant to liaise with me post the service did the opposite and when I collected the car and went home I realised they broke the plastic cover on top on the rail that adjust the seat. I rang AND rang and left a voice mail NO ONE BOTHERED TO CALL ME BACK.

Bought my BMW from them 1 year ago, brand new all singing all dancing. Had steering wheel and all airbags stolen using no keys to get in when car was locked & alarm on.
When approaching Mr Hannibal (Manager) about this, he gave me a smug look and told me it was nothing to do with them or BMW. This is obviously a design fault which they don't want to admit to and I've now got to claim on my insurance because of the fault in BMW's security.
Absolutely disgusted with your customer service and will never advise anyone to buy a BMW or come to you.

Service Con! Incompetence and lack of communication and danger of serve food poisoning.

Try Sytner or Barrons much better.



Nothing explained upfront until I was in the hot seat, these guys at specialist cars really put you; as the customer in a very uncomfortable position.

On top of it all the loan car was filthy, empty 1 pints of milk in the back, crisps in the door and on the floor, mud marks on the seats and side of chairs and floor. (images published)*

It was a family car and IF I had a family, I would have not chanced giving them the opportunity to get sick over expired milk and have eaten crisps - danger.

Complained to the MD, see how that pans out.

Purchased a car from Fred Prince (excellent salesman, really attentive, not too pushy, 5 stars for Fred), however dealings with the service department are not quite up to the standard of the sales department.

Often a long wait when you check in and last time my car was in, I was offered a wash, which I presumed would be a jet-wash, but later discovered on the car cam that it had been put through a car wash. I never put my car in car washes like these as they are known to scratch paintwork.

I think Specialist Cars should advise that the car wash used is of the brush type as I am sure many wouldn't want this on their expensive BMWs).

On a positive note, the check in area is always very clean with refreshments available and staff are welcoming.

I have to downgrade the review of Specialist cars Stevenage. Their post sale service is appalling. From last 4 weeks I am trying to get hold of service team and they do not bother.
I am still leaving my original feedback so that prospective buyers understand that new purchase experience is usually good with every dealership but what is counted is post sale service!!

I collected my new BMW X5 today and it was a pleasure dealing with Steve Tierney. He was very polite, patient and gave me every minute details I was looking for in my next car. Based on my terrible experience with Grange Land Rover Hatfield I switched to BMW and I am very happy with this
astonishing X5 and BMW as a leading brand.

Excellent main dealer experience. Fantastic customer service from both the sales advisor Ed Lee and the technician who worked on my car, apologies I didn't catch the name.

My mini Jcw went in for a decoke, despite it needing a lot more time spent I wasn't charged for it and my car feels so much better since.

Great communication and attention to detail, 100% would use again.

What can I say? Every time I visit any BMW centre they are always extremely polite, helpful and professional.

This time I was greeted immediately by Sam at the service department who was on the phone but engaged with me on entry to tell me she would be only a few moments & I thought that this was very courteous of her as she had clearly put herself in my position. That 2 seconds of recognition goes a long way.

She then arranged for Micheal to drop me to the station after offering me refreshments.

Micheal was again very polite and very professional a expert drive to the station in comfort lifted my spirits greatly.

He then informed me that I was to liase with himself or Sam should I wish to be picked up when my car is done.

Excellent service from both. They both some deserve recognition from management and should be rewarded for their efforts.

What a fantastic car purchase experience with John Hanley. A very friendly, down to earth and humorous guy. John was very knowledgeable about the car, he was patient and explained a lot about the car features as much as he could. Also gave useful advices on aftercare of the car.

Unfortunately I live too far to be able to have Stevenage Specialist Cars to service my car in the future. But the entire purchase experience was very pleasant and a memorable one. Wish you all the best.

After an inital visit to this dealership which did not go well (salesperson not interested) I submitted a query via Auto Trader. I was contacted by Lee Wadsworth very shortly after and I must say what a diiference. Even over the telephone it was clear that Lee was interested and enthusiastic about the vehicle I was interested in purchasing. I arranged a test drive with Lee and attended the dealership with my wife. Face to face Lee was informative, knowledgeable friendly, personable and not too pushy. Over the years I have lost count of how many cars and motor cycles I have purchased but I must say that Lee was the salesperson that has made me feel the most comfortable. Outstanding service from Lee Wadsworth. Bought a 330e and absolutely love it. It had some slight scratches on the leather seats and a couple of light dents on the hood of the car but Lee went above and beyond to get them sorted out. outstanding customer service. my 14 year old car was in for a recall I paid for the collection service due to not being able to get transport back home, they arrived at 8.30am as agreed and kept me informed throughout the day. they carried out the work swiftly and returned my car at 3.30pm. the lady that picked up my car was very friendly and polite. many thanks again.

I would also like to add how happy I am with all the staff in the parts department. especially louie he has been happy to help me on a fair few occasions. I privately brought used car that needs quite a lot of parts replacing. i have been coming up there few times a week for a while now and all of the guys have been happy to help me with what I need in getting the correct parts whether that was stock they had in or be it ordered. if you need customer service and a friendly place to visit. specialist cars in Stevenage is your place to go.

Recently purchased a nearly new 335d from John Freeman, a very professional service and most importantly he was always able to answer any queries I had almost immediately. The car was prepared to a high standard and new tyres were placed on the vehicle even though they were above the tread of the BMW AUC policy.
This is my second car from the dealership and they have always been polite and efficient.
