Sales team are amazing, service team is not!! Not ...

Sales team are amazing, service team is not!! Not BMW standard as one would expect and not much knowledge of their own cars, especially the electric versions. On checking why an electric car costs more to service than a petrol/diesel car, this was their response: "The electronics of these cars are a bit complex and hence will cost more to service. These cars are cheap to run, but not necessarily cheap to maintain or service". BMW needs to note such things and not just let their franchisees run and charge for services the way they want. I would've given a zero rating if there was an option. They just lost a customer and probably for BMW and not just for specialist cars.

Just bought a car from Lee Wadsworth and I cannot recommend him Highly enough. Couple of teething problems with car were sorted swiftly. Nothing too much trouble. I didn t think I would be able to get a larger, more expensive, BMW in my price range as previous contacts with BMW were pretty much ignored and the service I have received from Lee far exceeds when I brought my new BMW a few years ago. Salesmen like Lee make me want to stick with BMW for my next car, not that I m changing soon as love my X1. Really appreciate the service I have received after buying!

Hi, Really pathetic customer service. Booked an MOT and Service. Texted me that "All work has been done and car ready for collection". So I went to pick up the car in a Taxi and when I reached there they said car failed MOT failed due to coil spring broke and not safe on public road. I have asked why they sent message "All work has been completed and ready for collection, instead of an apology they said I can still collect the car even if it failed. I would not recommend the Spec car Stevenage.

We bought a BMW X3 on Saturday and drove it out of the garage on the following Wednesday. We hadn t made an appointment to view but were assisted immediately by Derek Baker, he followed COVID protocol to the letter. He was very knowledgable and answered endless questions about the car with ease. He allowed us a test drive without any fuss and was sincerely interested in our views upon our return. It was obvious that he put us first above other commitments as he waited patiently at the end of the day, as the showroom was closing, for our son to arrive to also view the car. Derek made the whole
process of buying the car a pleasure, from our first meeting, to keeping us updated prior to collection with emails and videos, and the final handover as we left the garage. We cannot thank Derek enough for his professional and personal service and we will highly recommend him to all of our friends and family.

Car was ready to pick up just a few days later in fantastic condition.

My car was in for a misfire on one of the cylinders they delivered my car back and when I checked it was the same problem also the handbrake was broken and my dash cam was not fitted it was left loose in the car. I have spent 15 minutes waiting for someone to answer the phone but nobody answered the phone. The only one who was helpful was the telephone reception Clare

We recently brought a new car from this dealership...

We recently brought a new car from this dealership. The deal on offer was great, my local BMW Sytner showroom couldn t get close.
The salesman we dealt with was Lee Wadsworth, who was fantastic throughout. After our intial enquiry over the phone, Lee sent us a very professional video of our car, showing us all the details.
Everything was taken care of when we went ahead with the purchase and Lee did a great job introducing us to the car.
The car has been really amazing so far, only gripe being the very poorly designed car keys which often pop open by themselves. Nearly lost them several times already.

I took my BMW M3 there to have new air bags fitted. The service I received was moderate. They could not even get my name or car registration right. There building is under construction so parking is an absolute nightmare. Some of the staff seem so far up there own xxxx it's actually pretty funny to observe. The only decent thing about the whole experience is they do offer you a drink upon arrival. Would recommend using another garage.

Don't trust this dealership. I just bought a used Mini last Saturday. When I paid advance I got one part-exchange quote from Sophie after taking pictures of my car. When I went to collect on Saturday Laura gave different quote denying original quote amount. I was told I will get a call on Monday from Sophie to sort it out and I will get PX as refund. Didn't get any call. No reply to email. When I called Sophie she checked with her manager and offered even lower. By then I already bought the car thinking a Mini dealer wouldn't behave like this. If you have no other choice but to buy from this dealer, don't give any money until everything is on paper. No guarantee it will help, but at least you have something in writing. I gave one star only because I can't post a message with zero stars.

We came in Saturday 18th July after booking a meeting with Derek to test drive an M760 li.
Fortunately for Derek we knew what we wanted but it was a real surprise to get the presentation video from Derek before we arrived at the showroom.
It was great to see the showroom organised and set up for COVID and when Derek said he wasn t allowed to come in the test drive with us we understood completely. Another surprise was that we were allowed so long with the car, we knew as soon as we drove out of the showroom we wanted the car, it was amazing.
Derek was brilliant explaining all the financial options, we agreed a deal and signed.
Along came the day when we were due to pick up the car, yet again another surprise of a handover video we received from Derek on the morning of collection.
The service we received was second to none and would absolutely recommend the showroom and Derek to any potential customers.
Will definitely be coming back when we are due for a renewal and if I know Derek he will be ringing us first if he thinks he has a car that would interest us.
It s the small touches that you remember and keeps bringing you back and we would definitely be back.

Angelo is by far one of the most experienced and honest salesmen we have ever bought a car off and I will be seeing him again when we decide to upgrade in the future! Bought a car but poor result... engine management light came on after 6000 miles... leather seats start to ripp off and rubber on the door got cracks and when u ask them they r sorry out of warranty.... its better if u buy a car from private seller 6 to 7 thousand cheaper.... i got pix aswell i am selling my car now

I was looking for a small SUV not knowing what a wanted, it was not an easy task as I d had my last car a Ford Focus for 16yrs. I then made an appointment with Lee Wadsworth, at Specilist Cars, Stevenage. I can not recommend this dealership enough. Lee was extremely helpful and professional throughout in these difficult times, very knowledgeable, he took the time to ask me what I wanted and suggested the x1. At no time throughput the meeting, did I feel pressured, into making a purchase, however as soon as I took the car out on a test drive I knew it was the one. Lee sorted everything out swiftly and a day later I was driving home with my new car, one very happy customer. Any one looking to purchase a used BMW check out this dealership, you won t be disappointed!

We purchased our BMW from Specialist Cars last Saturday, first time dealing with them. We were extremely lucky to stumble across the car online and the salesman Lee Wadsworth!! The car was very sought after and had a huge spec and when viewed, included several extras that we were not aware of!!

Lee was outstanding throughout explaining everything clearly, showing great knowledge and professionalism and very personable and easy to deal with. Obviously not interested in selling cars. I'm on my 4th BMW and looking for my 5th. Popped in and spoke to someone who couldn't have appeared less interested. I gave my details and haven't heard back since. And there I was, thinking that the car market had slowed down! Genuinely baffled so will be taking my business elsewhere.

Thanks but no thanks. For info, all your staff were busy watching someone moving an M4 convertible in the showroom so obviously I was a distraction. I live in Bucks so fortunately am spoilt for choice with BMW dealerships. These days you get one chance to make a positive impression.

I have never in my whole life come across such a unprofessional company as this .
They have no customer care nor any morals or ethics - just interested in overcharging you.
I was given a fixed price then after a week or so it was changed to ten times the price.
I was without my car for nine weeks -The managers there are so arrogant that it defies belief
I will be writing a blog about my experiences with this shambolic company but in the meantime please don t make the same mistake as I did -PLEASE PLEASE STAY AWAY

I had the pleasure of purchasing a used 5 series from Derek Baker at Specialist cars. Even though I knew what car I wanted, Derek was very extremely helpful in making sure the car was right for me. I only live 5 minutes away and he was happy to bring the car to my house for me to test drive. A deal was agreed that day and I collected the car a few days later.
The whole buying experience was easy with no hard sell . I can highly recommend Specialist cars and especially Derek in the used car team.

I did the rounds of garages at the weekend. Spent Friday evening planning and then Saturday morning going around some garages with some pretty horrible and miserable people. I had a budget in mind. I didn t really have a car in mind. I knew I wanted something easier on my back (just had spinal surgery) and I also knew that my previous car was probably not going to pass it s MOT next month on a few points (easily repairable but I just couldn t justify spending the money on something that was about to hit 100,000 miles).

I went into the BMW centre with a friend (who knows a lot about cars... but more importantly knows more about me!) and I was quite abrupt with the lad on the front desk because I was stressed about looking at cars. It was water off his back. He informed me I could go and have a look around at the cars and so off we went.

After about five minutes a lovely gentleman approached us and asked us if he could be of any assistance. I explained my situation, he showed me the key points to decide which kind of car I needed. I said I wanted an SUV and something I could get in and out of easy. Derek showed me a few cars to show me different things. He then showed me what to avoid. I then spent a while with him explaining in very easy terms what things were.

I saw a BMW X3 MSport which was a little but above my budget and asked about this particular car. I liked the style. He showed me all about it and there was another one next to it which was a little more expensive and I asked about that one. Basically... the one I liked was a 3 litre. The one next to it was a 2 litre but had so many extras on it. 20 alloys (apparently that s cool!) haha decent sound system, immaculate! Low mileage etc. Well basically. I now own this car!

They say that buying a car is as stressful as buying a house. Not a chance! Derek Baker was an absolute star! I would suggest asking for him by name and making an appointment with him. Not once did he flounder on a question. Not once did I feel I was being sold - 100% genuine. I couldn t be happier with my purchase and I still can t believe I own such a gorgeous car!

Had serviced whilst working in area. Called to chase progress during afternoon no call back. Called spoken with lady who answers phone advised im coming at 5 and will be collecting car regardless of condition...Collected at 5 was made to wait, advised additional work needs doing including brakes and leaking shock absorber? But its ok get them done when warning light come on was response from service agent??? Do you not realise it takes weeks to get booked in??? Not really sure if any type of service was done as video dealer usually shows vehicle being inspected on ramp...Not at this dealership!!! This is company car that is not being replaced with another BMW as aftercare is poor!!! I will not use this dealership again.

Read below exchanges and make up your own mind but I would say if there is another BMW Dealer near your home or work use them, I got a better Free visual Check with warranty work from Elms Bedford than the one Specialist Cars did with my first service.

Dear Calder, I would appreciate your comments on my vehicles first service carried out by your company on my BMW as my observations are that I was only given just the first page out of the stated two pages of service report., Meaning I have NO information on the condition of the tyres or Brake Pads nor for that matter anything else that should be on page two, also I was not sent the normally expected Video Link of the check during the service, not having this information leads me to believe that service was not carried out to the standard expected, Your first response via email please so that I have a record.

12 October 2016 Good Afternoon Mr Day, Just to confirm we carried out your 1st Service on 20th September, sorry you only received the information sheet for Service report the 2nd sheet does not show any info and is usually discarded.

The tyre information indicates treads are at 6-7mm for peace of mind and while we endeavour to Carry out a CitNow/video report on all cars in our workshop we do see in excess of 65 cars a day so on the odd occasion not every customer receives clarification of current condition of their car via this method.

However your are a loyal Customer of ours and my reassurance that the relevant Service was carried out, and we have purchased additional equipment so that we can endeavour to video report on all cars that enter our Workshop. Kind Regards Robert Dennett

13 Oct 2016 Dear Mr Dennett, Thank you for prompt response, but sorry I don t believe the service checks have been carried out as should be because you have conveniently not mentioned Brake Pad Wear and tyre wear must have been poorly guessed as on the :-

07th of July Tyres were Fronts 6mm Rears 5mm 11,963 miles

28th of August Tyres were 5mm ALL ROUND 14,822 miles so on 19th September at 16,073 for them now to be 6-7mm is well off actual but I will get them checked independently and request a written report.

I did get a read receipt for my last email but nothing else.

As for "Response from the owner" shown below too little too late, in my opinion they should have insisted that they collected my car as a matter of urgency and thoroughly re checked it with video evidence and delivered it back with an explanation of what went wrong, plus an apology and maybe icing on the cake would have been a little goodwill gesture, I would have then probably carried on using them as I know mistakes happen but it's how you put them right that proves your metal.

Just bought a used BMW X1 and could not be happier with the car or excellent service that we received from Lee Wadsworth, from helping to find the car we wanted and bringing it to Stevenage to spending plenty of time with us showing how to use all the equipment.Also replying the same day to any of my missed calls, all in all a very pleasant and stress free experience. We had such a great experience buying our car with...

We had such a great experience buying our car with the Stevenage branch.
We met Derek who took the time to listen and understand what we were looking for and found the exact car for us.
We part exchanged our car and found the process to be very positive and stress free and within a few days we picked up our new purchase.
Derek and the team are excellent, very friendly and willing to help and that also applies to the service team.

I have been to this dealership a few times to buy ...

I have been to this dealership a few times to buy a M4 but everytime I have been they have never taken me seriously and are always very rude and arrogant, its only a BMW I don't understand the need to be that way.

I have booked test drives for the M4 but after agreeing online or the phone when arriving they always say the car is out or they havent got one available.

I last time went to buy an M4 and the way I was treated in the showroom was unreal i felt so uncomfortable and they really make you feel out of place, I then left and went and bought a Lamborghini instead. I had a Ferrari which I sold and I was going to DOWNGRADE to an M4 to pass time but they were just so unhelpful that I gave up and went back to the proper cars.

I have since sold the Lambo as my family is now growing we went again to purchase a Competition Pack M4 Convertible over the weekend but as soon as a sales guy came over he was so rude I couldn't stand him, I then got passed onto another sales person as we also wanted to purchase a 5 series for my wife to match the M4 but they were all just so rude and abnoxious, I will NEVER go to that showroom again I dont know who they all seem to think they are but they have no clue who there dealing with they need to stop judging people by the colour of there skin or the clothes they wear.

I have since went and bought a brand new M4 from another dealership who have made so much effort for me and also have setup a car for my wife so they have lost out on 2 purchases simply because they are rude and arrogant.

I dont even want a response from them so dont bother replying to this message I dont have time to read your BS.

Guys stick to other dealers if you want the proper treatment as these guys only seem to take care of "certain" type of person.

****Running In Service was NOT done from Stevenage I traveled to Cambridge for this as I didn't want to visit your site again and never will****

When all other dealerships closed due to Covid 19 you stayed open, to keep the parts supply chain open, so that repair shops and garages could keep key workers on the road

Myself and my partner popped into specialist cars Bmw in Stevenage where we was looking for our next car. We was approached by a gentleman called Derek . Very knowledgeable and seem to understand right from the start what sort of car we was looking for. He found a car that was perfect for us 420i and assisted us through the transaction. i have to say Derek was non pushy seemed to know about the model and was very knowledgeable when it came to answering the many questions i had for him. i have to say its been the most pleasant and less stressful transaction i have ever experienced and i suggest anybody that is going to buy a Bmw pop into Stevenage first excellent service we will definitely be back again and will recommend to friends. I was only looking at this point however Steve and Lee were both very informative and knowledgeable. I will be returning to test drive and purchase the X3 Hybrid from the sales team in March.

We met Steve in January 2015. He helped us with the purchase of our first BMW and then consequently the second and now the third.
Steve has been been very informative, clear, patient with our endless amount of questions and polite whilst dealing with us. There s never been any type of pressure or influence either. He does not have the typical salesman s approach which we have experienced many a time. He poses a professionalism which is of high standard. We will be recommending his services.

Were SO GOOD that not only did I buy the car but upgraded to a model with various extra packs all of which, now that I have the car, I am delighted to have chosen!!

A thoroughly delightful experience of the highest professional nature yet light hearted friendly approaches from Laura, Matthew and Ian resulted in an extra 4K spend and no one is happier than I!!

UPDATE - Spoke to the aftersales manager who offered a free service, 3 VM MESSAGES LATER - NO RESPONSE!!! SAYS IT ALL!!!

Shockingly bad service, avoid at all cost!!

I booked my car in for a service here, had to wait over 2 weeks as I needed a courtesy car. The night before I got a phone call advising they weren't sure if they had a courtesy car for me after all!! Had to call at 8.30 on the day to check!! Anyway, I took my car in for the service, was advised that luckily for me the car only needed a minor service and the air-con regassed. That evening I got a call advising that all the work had been carried out but they couldn't release the car to me as it was a recall for the EGR and was dangerous to drive. Was advised that the works would take approximately a week and I would be given a hire car in the meantime. Received a call from BMW head office about 30 minutes later and was advised the works would take approx. 3 months and they would pay for a hire car, all was arranged for me to drop off the courtesy car and pick up the hire car the next day.



After 4 weeks and no communication at all, I get a call whilst on holiday in Spain, no message was left. I tried to call back, no answer, tried the next day, again no answer.

I finally managed to get through the day I returned from holiday and was advised that the part was due in on the Monday and I would be able to collect the car within 48 hours. Great I thought!! Monday passed and then the 48 hours too. Tried to call for an update and again no answer!!!! After 4 tries and leaving messages with no response, I finally tried calling sales and lo and behold there was an answer after the first ring!!! They also could not get through to servicing and so after leaving 3 messages and calling 5 times I managed to get through to one of the technicians who asked what work I was waiting on!!!! Advised I am waiting to confirm what stage my car is at and was told that no delivery of parts was received and they weren't aware of any!!!! They had no idea when my car would be ready.

At this point I haven't had my car for over 5 weeks so I tried again to get some answers, managed to get through to someone in the office who advised me she would look into things and come back to me. An hour or so later she called back to advise that my car had been ready for 12 days, the paperwork had been sat on someones desk who was off sick!!!! When I advised that I couldn't pick the car up for 3 days due to work, she said that there may be costs incurred for the extra couple of days hire car!!!!!!!! I told her under no circumstances am I paying a penny as my car has been ready for 12 days and could have been collected at the weekend but due to their incompetence they will now have to wait for me!!!!

Finally after 6 weeks I go to collect my beautiful car, I was looking forward to getting a nice clean, newly serviced car however that was not to be. I turned up and was greeted by a miserable advisor who told me that the car hadn't been serviced as it didn't need it!! He then proceeded to tell me how the service it did need (brakes) I had declined!!!! Asked him why I had been told previously that it was complete, he just kept telling me that it wasn't required!!!! If it wasn't required, why had no one told me this when I took the car in or called me to advise this?? It's my car and if I want it serviced bloody do it!!!!! Don't they want my money????? It was last serviced 08/05/2018 at 66,534 miles and its now 20/06/2019 and at 82,000 miles.

My car was given back to me dirtier on the inside than when I left it and had clearly just been sprayed with water to make it looked washed.

I've now got to waste another day taking it to get serviced at another dealership as there is no way I would go back there.

I emailed the dealership on Sunday evening. On Monday I had a call from Lee Wadsworth was really busy at work and he was very respectful and not pushy left me to my day. About half way through the day I received a great video of the car answering my questions (was just emailed through to me). That afternoon decided to buy. Lee couldn t have been any better, very prompt and worked to my timeline. He helped find a better deal on the finance with minimal effort from my side and I picked up the car yesterday. Immaculately presented with 3/4 of a tank of fuel (have previously purchases brand new cars with just enough fuel to get to the local petrol station). Great dealership very big with a very wide range of cars both new and second hand. Would not hesitate to recommend Lee or BMW Stevenage. Extremely impressed with the service and I look forward to buying again from this dealer when my wife upgrades her car. Genuine pleasure to work with Lee so thank you Lee.

Had heard good things about BMW but unfortunately encountered the most dishonest salesman I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Lots of hidden costs in deals. Lots of pressure to buy with little time offered to go through contracts or make your mind up. Hounded for a decision and once signed up it was impossible to get hold of the salesman. Never returned my calls and continually broke promises of when the car would be available.

Service staff have always been very friendly and helpful although when I've requested non-mechanical repairs (i.e. a faulty sound system) they have never been completed.

After less than 2 years with BMW I've grown tired of the lies and failure to deliver and have moved on. Great cars, but be very careful when it comes to service, particularly from sales.

Just took delivery today of my 4th BMW from Specialist Cars Stevenage, having bought my first in March 2008. The Sales staff (David and Ashley) are always very helpful and professional - thank you both!
Although there are other dealers much nearer me in North London, all my cars have been or are serviced and repaired by the team at Stevenage and for body repairs by the team at Hitchin. Highly recommend Specialist Cars to anyone wishing to buy a BMW or a Mini. Looking forward to driving the new car.

Derek Baker made the whole process a breeze. No hard sell and nothing was too much trouble for him. After purchasing the car I have since been back to see him with other queries and he has happily gone the extra mile to help.

Fantastic service - I went in as I wasnt sure what service I needed (my poor car has been trying to remind me until August) and the very nice helpful guy put my fob into some state of the art machine and it told me I did need a service which I was dreading (price wise as a "new" BMW" owner) - but was told I only needed a brake fluid change/top up - they have fixed prices for things so you know before the work is done what you will be charged which is better than a lot of garages I have had dealings with in the past. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I'm sitting in the waiting area as i write this. Had to wait two weeks to get my indicator issue looked at. Car had been in the shop all day. The rep says sorry it's a known issue on your model but we don't keep the party in and have to order. Did not occour to then to order the parts in advance since my reported issue matches the known issue exactly. To add insult to injury I've been told i have to wait another 45 minutes while they apply a software update. Rep lookd the part but hasn't got a clue. Extreemly disappointing and a complete waste of time.

Update: spoke to John the manager who was a decent bloke. He explained they have the part on order for a while now and they are waiting on delivery. Car was returned cleaned and washed. A frustrating experience as i ended up waiting about an hour and 20 minutes past the agreed pickup time. Hopefully itiwas just a one of and not typical service.

Would recommend speaking to Lee as he is not your typical salesman(not pushing and leaves the decision up to yourself no questions asked)
The aftercare service given by sales and service is excellent and they will listen and help with any questions regarding your new purchase.

I recently bought a used car from Specialist Cars....

I recently bought a used car from Specialist Cars. Having seen the car online, I traveled 200 miles to take it for test drive with a view to driving it home. John Freeman made all the necessary arrangements to facilitate this at quite short notice. The car had a few minor dents which needed to be repaired and John got these sorted so that I could pick the car up a few days later on my return trip. Overall I am very happy with the car and service and would recommend Specialist Cars for a BMW purchase.

I would like to thank everyone at Specialist Cars BMW for looking after me and my nearly new i3 range extender so fantastically well. I especially thank Derek Baker for all his help when my wife, I and the dog turned up quite late on a Sunday a couple of weeks ago and Derek took us out in the only 13 that had not been sold! Wow, my first time in an electric vehicle and it was truly memorable. After our own test drives the following Saturday, both myself and my wife were totally smitten!! Thanks Derek for all the helpful emails allowing me to insure and tax the vehicle before, "Buy Day", yesterday. This car has all the modern conectivity that your smart phone has, but allows you to control charging and preconditioning the vehicle as well. So a massive thanks to Max Spencer (officially a BMW Genius) for helping me with getting the BMW app and giving me a quick spin of what is possible. Well, that took 1.5 hours, so I am really appreciate his help. Overall, I got a great deal, on a great car and the people at Specialist Cars are hugely beleiving in the high quality cars they are selling! Anne and myself were looked after incredibly well by Lee Barker in New car sales, Lee showed us around the new Z4 in the showroom and arranged a test drive for us in their demo vehicle, he wasn't pushy with hard sell tactics, just helpful and informative at all times.
Anne loved the car, it is only covid and Brexit concerns that have stopped us buying a new vehicle from Lee right now, as and when things improve, we wouldn't hesitate to return to Specialist cars and deal with Lee Barker again.

I didn't end up purchasing the car I test drove today but thought I would leave a review of the service as it was so excellent. Lee spent a decent amount of time on the phone with me earlier in the week and even did a personalised video confirming which car I would be test driving. The car wasn't quite right for me in the end but the service here was really top notch.

Possibly the worst experience I have ever had buying a car. No communications, poorly presented (repairs not completed as agreed, paint dripped down side, anti chip stickers applied with bubbles visible and not valeted as agreed) ... then failed to update me. 3 days after initial delivery I finally gave up and refused to accept car I had originally agreed to buy. Such unbelievable service for which I will now avoid, not just the dealership, but possibly the brand too. If I could give them no stars .. I would ... OK 1 star for the coffee.
