I may be premature in writing this review, however after receiving our sectional sofa with stains from delivery, missing transformer and broken corner piece, I started to do some research on this company.
The furniture store that sold us the pieces ordered three new pieces and in the interim sent an inspector out to clean the pieces and supply the transformer.
The three new pieces arrived Christmas Eve, clean with transformers. However the corner piece though not broken is so poorly made it seems like a different manufacturer made it compared to the end pieces. Fabric is loose, cushions are soft.
We have contacted store again for a second inspection.
The corner piece was not on the showroom floor so it was purchased in good faith.
Apprehensive as to how this $3500 purchase will be remedied.
Southern Motion uses poor materials that don't even last the warranty period. Then they give you excuses as to why they won't fix or repair due to poor quality. Stay away from this brand......stay way far away from this brand and any retailer that continues to sell Southern Motion products. Shame on Southern Motion for stealing from working class Americans. This was my 5 year old couch. God bless America
Rare is the occasion that I feel compelled to review an item we have purchased. I do so now because I regret not reading the other reviews here before purchasing a $2,000+ Double Reclining Leather Sofa manufactured by Southern Motion. Within 2 weeks of receipt of our beautiful new sofa, we noted that the foam inserts within the chaise portion of both reclining sections had begun to shift. The store, where we purchased the couch, sent a local furniture repair service to take a look at it. They were able to pull the foam back up and glue them down. However, a week later, the same issue. The furniture repairman contacted Southern Motion to order replacement inserts. The replacement inserts also quickly slid. Again, the furniture repairman contacted Southern Motion. This time he was told that basically they had fixed the couch once. It was not a manufacturing problem. It was a customer problem. We, apparently, were not sitting up properly or standing properly. Now please understand that my wife and I are both in our upper 60s. How could we possibly abuse a quality piece of furniture?! So much for a 5 year warranty on fabric and cushions. Now, after only 3 months, we have a sofa that looks like the picture below. In retrospect, we should have gone with the $499 couch from Rural King.
Great company. I had a 9 year old recliner that needed repair Southern Motion worked with Sound Furniture Repair and my favorite chair is in as good as new condition
Very prompt attention to my request. Wish you would accept credit card, this would speed up the process.
Sending requested information with my check.
Thank you
I purchased high quality theater seating console sofa from Southern Motion to replace the low end furniture that is standard for most recreational vehicles (Pull behind trailers, 5th Wheels, and Motor Coaches), we have a Fifth Wheel recreational vehicle. The design we selected was the fully powered console sofa W/PWR HR plus 276-17 Savvy Latte. My wife selected the type and color of fabric she wanted to blend in with the decor of the trailer. Southern Motion worked closely with us to ensure we selected the design, size, fabric/color, and functionality to meet our requirements.
We had the opportunity to pick up the console sofa at the factory in 195 Henry Southern Dr Pontotoc MS just off highway 278. We found the factory was easy access from the highway and the loading dock area was very organized and plenty of maneuver space for our large 5th wheel trailer. When we arrived the console sofa was waiting for us on the loading dock with the supervisor there to meet us. The console sofa was unwrapped from its protective covering and inspected by us in detail. It was perfect in every detail without any discrepancies.
The best part of the whole experience was how the Southern Motion s supervisor had his production technicians disassemble the console sofa on the loading dock and then reassemble the sofa inside my 5th wheel trailer in the exact location it needed to go. I had expected that this would be my task and I came prepared with the tools for this detailed disassembly and reassemble process. To my surprise they took on the task without a hesitation, taking great care not to cause any damage to my new trailer during the assembly process.
We have spent 65 days camping in the trailer since the installation of our Southern Motion console sofa and we could not be any more pleased with the comfort, durability, ease of cleaning stains to include grease, and the individual power multi positioning of the two chairs that make up the whole console sofa.
Southern Motion a furniture company that lives up to producing quality products and outstanding customer service. Col (Retired) Jeff Bowden USMC
We love our Southern Motion chair ( Mike Gregory ) . You have helped us with the spring that we needed . Prompt & Proffessional service . Thank - you
The cushions on my sofa starting bunching at 5 months old. The representative that works for Compass furniture says it s wear and tear. Well if this is wear and tear the sofa won t be useable after 1 year . After spending $4000 , I hoped to get at least 5 years out of it . . It s on all three pieces.
I own two of their power recliner love seats, they are comfortable and have held up well for the 2-years I have had them. Although I have been happy with the furniture, their customer service is second to none, I needed a replacement part and not only did they respond promptly they sent me the part right away. I cannot express enough how much I appreciate their level of service as it is so rare these days. You cannot go wrong with a company that is this good to their customers.
Not even sure I can give them one star. We bought their "Refueler" model sofa and matching recliner chair in 2013 from a local retailer and purchased a 5-year extended warranty with it. Worst mistake ever. I sit here on the sofa - cockeyed - while writing this review. We have had nothing but problems with this sofa. Within a couple of weeks of being set up, we needed it serviced as the back on the left side (facing) was tilting. Then the cushion went and was replaced. Now it's only 3 years old and the same cushion has gone again, but this time the cover is coming off of it as well and.....it's not covered under the warranty. This sofa has been nothing but trouble since day 1. Looking back, we should've tried to return it when the back of the sofa went the first time. I should also mention that the matching chair has never set level. While looking at it, you can see that, too, is cockeyed. I will never be able to, in good conscience, recommend this furniture to anyone.
We bought a southern motion couch from Darvin a couple years ago. This is the worst piece of furniture I have ever seen. Both Darvin and Southern Motion refused to do anything about it. I will never shop at Darvin again
Truck drivers: nice friendly people working there and loads your truck in reasonable time.
Friendly office staff, sometimes can be in and out in a hour and most days seems to take 2+ hours to load.
Good mechanics, terrible material, leather cracking and peeling. The furniture looks 50 years old but is actually barely 4 years old this month. I just wish the manufacturer would take responsibility. If is was a single issue is one thing but when it is a very common occurrence then there is an issue.
I wanted to know what power recliner came in leather with lumbar support and headrest and smartphone connectivity. I just received a list of dealers that may be up to 3 hours from my home.
I bought a sofa,, loveseat , and recliners from Sims Furniture. 2 yrs ago, I was told that the leather like material did not flake.....NOT TRUE.... it does and is flaking off the sofa.. when I called SIMS , I was told the warranty on the material was for one year.....SORRY... I paid a tidy sum for this handsome furniture, that is not holding up.
No problems with the mechanics just the most obvious...the finish. We are a middle age couple with no children and travel a lot, so it can't be overuse!,,,
Bought a leather sectional and 0 gravity chair. Right off the bat, the lumbar support in the chair would not stay inflated. Service Tech came out to inspect it and found the bladder was bad and the motor was bad. He said it definitely was not a brand new chair and he sees this alot with So. Motion furniture.
The corner seat part of the sectional was about 2 inches lowe than the other parts. In less than 2 months, the Tech has been out 3 times. Thankfully our retail store has been more than helpful in getting these issues resolved. For the money we paid, I expected more. Very disappointed in the quality of the furniture.
We purchased a power recliner from discount furniture in Foley Alabama. 1 years after purchase the left arm begin to feel loose, I thought I could tighten the bolts but couldn't access them.
Went to the furniture store and complained, they wouldn't do anything, they said the warranty was out and they gave me a runaround about contact info for southern motion. So I looked them up, I have emailed them and complained, called all to no avail.
1.5 years in and the finish began to peel off. I again reached out to the manufacturer, nothing!
Buyer beware!!
Comfortable, good cushioning. The only thing I dont like is the recliner back goes back when I put my feet up, I wish I could put them up without lying down. I love that my recliner and loveseat rock
We purchased a recliner, couch, and loveseat (and the 5 year warranty). Not six months in the recliner fell apart (yes you read that right!). The tech said the frame was not put together properly and had about 50 nails in it trying to keep it together too. A few months later the stain wiped off ( yes you read that right too)! Also, a seat starting to rip apart. None of which is "covered" by the warranty . BUYER BEWARE! Do not purchase from this company!
We love our motorized recline sofa and chair. They are high quality and comfortable. Recently we had an incident where our apartment was hit by lightning and both the sofa and chair would no longer work. The retailer who sold us the furniture is no longer in business. I worked with Mike Gregory at Southern Motion. It took us a couple tries but we figured out that the power supplies needed replaced and that fixed the problem. We are so grateful for Mike's help. He was very patient and sent us the replacement parts for free. We would definitely buy from this manufacturer again. Very happy with their service.
Have a bonded leather sofa just over three years old. The seat has started to delaminate. Called to see if I could purchase a replacement part knowing the waranty was only a year and was told it had been discontinued and nothing could be done. I purchased this furniture hoping I would not have to replace it for many years. Very disappointed.
We just purchased their sectional set called "producer". Problems are the reclining chaise needs to be a full 9 inches from the wall. The chairs only require 3 inches. A lot of wasted space and looks strange.
The controls for chairs have no place to store them. We are attaching Velcro to sides. Would have been real easy to have made pocket
We had a horrific move cross country and lost our cord for our recliner. Mike helped us get a replacement one at no charge! I appreciate great customer service! My mom loves her chair!
I've had my 2 Southern Motion power recliners for almost 8 years and still love them as much as the day I purchased them.
I purchased a High Rise power rocker recliner almost 8 months ago. At first very happy looks great. But then I started to notice. Leather does not fit tightly. Almost like not enough padding in arms . The footrest leather gathers all loose like its all stretched out. The arms are like my elbows are resting directly on the wood underneath the leather. The springs twang when I rock. When I. A recline position the chair still rocks forward. When getting out of the chair it tips forward and the corners actually touch the floor.
it is poorly constructed.low quality furniture.very disappointed.
I purchased a double recliner sofa for $1045 in August of 2015. I was pressured to buy a 5 year extended warranty which I passed on .....huge mistake. I thought to myself when I purchased this couch what can go wrong with a $1000 couch in the first 5 years that I would need a warranty on this couch.
This couch should easily Last 10 years I thought. Boy was I wrong this thing is junk, I would give 0 stars if possible. Within the first few months the stuffing was coming out of the couch. A service man came and stapled the stuffing back in. The cushion was already shot after 6 months we would sink down in it so far it was hard to get out of it. Now two and a half years after purchase the wood frame has broken the stuffing is falling out again this thing is shot. I called on it and was told that the couch black frame has a lifetime parts warranty not labor coverage and the rest of the couch has 1 year coverage. I feel like a fool that has been taken. Never again will I trust a salesman when purchasing furniture read the reviews.
Contacted via email Southern Motion regarding a broken D-ring release assembly on a couch we purchased approximately one year ago. Within two days we received an email response from Mike Gregory. He understood the issue and stated he would be sending us a replacement at no charge. Received the exact replacement within a week. Very satisfied with the customer service and quick response. Highly recommend!
Purchased, 3/11/16, power recliner couch from Southern motion through China Towne, should have read these reviews first, the fill from the seat is sliding into the foot rest and and is painful to sit in, called Southern motion, no help, called China towne no help, last time shopping there..
We bought a rv with their furniture in it almost 3 yrs ago. Most of the furniture , sofa and chair are flaking. We have no children and the sofa hardly gets used. VERY disappointed with them and nothing I can do.
We needed a replacement spring for our recliner and Mike Gregory was so helpful and efficient in working with us! We love your products and the customer service is top notch!
By far, the best customer service I have ever received! Helpful, on time, and super friendly! Southern Motion Furniture will forever be my choice when I'm purchasing furniture!
I bought an electric recliner from Hudson's Furniture in Ocoee, FL a little over a year ago and it developed tears in material on the left arm of the chair that I reported to Hudson's Furniture. To me it was obvious it developed due to a structural failure when produced at the plant. The recliner was manufactured by Southern Motion. Hudson's Furniture contacted Southern Motion's sales rep, Dion Thornton. I sent pictures of the chair with the damage, along with S/N of the unit. They send Fast Furniture Repair service to look at the unit and advised me the unit can be repaired. They took pictures and advised me they would be in contact with me on action to be taken. Southern Motion sent the repair kit of the arm failure direct to me. Fast Furniture Repair came out and repaired the unit. The unit looks like a new unit with the repair made by Fast Furniture Repair. You have a very happy customer. Thank you! .
We have a Southern Motion recliner and reclining sofa. It's over 5 years old. Love IT!
I'm retired now little over a year I sold your recliners and motion furniture for many years just love your product.
The quality and customer service of the product was outstanding, I highly recommend buying from this USA based manufacturer.
I have southern motion big man recliners well 2 of them.dont sit in chair it will look great but if sit in the after about six month of below regular use the chair peels off.
I purchased a lovely electric duel reclining couch on 6/4/2012. It works beautifully, but the leather in the middle section is now cracking and pealing and there is not a damn thing that can be done about it. Shouldn't a large purchase like this last longer than 5 years. And to top it all off, the couch has hardly been used!!! So disappointed in this purchase!!
Karen Eilber, 100 Dean Ave, Apt. 3, Southern Pines, NC 28387
Have been shopping for reclining sofas and love seats. Beyond sitting on then and working the mechanisms, I have been tilting them over and examining the frames, springs and cushions. I have to say that the overall construction quality is surprisingly low. Flake board frames, simple S cushion springs with no additional support. Roughly about the same as I have seen on brands selling for half the price.
The warranty is a SCAM, We bought the 5yr warranty and now the arm on the power love seat is broken we can't get it fixed to correctly. The tech stated the only was to fix it correctly would be to send it to their shop and take it apart and fix it. I said send the truck. Due to the selling point of the warranty was if it can't be fixed it will be replaced. We called the warranty company and stated we were not satisfied with the band-aid half A** fix. They said they would get the tech report and call us. No call of course I had to call them a week later and was then told to send a picture. At which point it would be reviewed by a person who is what how many miles away from me and decide that my furniture is fixed. Which according to them our furniture is fixed correctly end of story. So, the warranty is a total SCAM its a money maker for them. Our fancy expensive furniture is made out of press board which is absolutely JUNK and their idea of fixing it is a L bracket. We still have 3 yrs on our warranty I wonder if the furniture will even outlast the warranty at this rate probably not. It's a shame that NOTHING stands up to any normal wear and tear anymore, and we have no children I couldn't imagine the life span of this furniture with children in the home and NO company EVER stands behind their product. But they all offer a warranty. Its a SCAM don't waste your money!!
The leather scratches very easily and there are no available touch up products. I would not buy again.
Overpriced GARBAGE!!! I spent over $2000 for my sofa and love seat which are barely TWO YEARS OLD and they are falling apart! The material is TEARING on the BOTTOM of the sofa and loveseat everywhere there is a corner . The frame is loose and slanted, the cushions are sinking, the leg rest is slanted, etc. The love seat was LIGHTLY used and the sofa was sat upon perhaps 5 or 6 times until a month or so ago because we primarily used the love seat. What is Southern Motion's response when I brought this to their attention?? TOO BAD OUT OF WARRANTY!!! Take my advice and go to Bob's same or better quality for less than half the price.
I Bought a living room set with a 5 year extended warranty and after two years the upholstery started falling apart. This wasn't covered and they said it was normal wear. So beware they stated It is normal for their furniture to fall apart after two years
Service responded immediately after i sent inquiry. The response included detailed and easy to understand trouble check advice.
Wonderful company. Sent me a free piece of equipment that I needed and quickly. Love them.
To anyone that got ripped off by your furniture retailer I feel sorry for you but you should have reviewed the problem with bonded leather. All bonded leather peels after very short use. I do believe it should be band from being used or at least reputable companies should know better then to use it. Micro fiber is the way to go on these products or real leather. If your too cheap or just don't have the money to by real leather don't by bonded. It will not last no matter what. These sofas are great just buyer beware of bonded leather. If your furniture store says it's good find a new place to do business and report them. There trying to sell you a throw away sofa. Always Google reviews of the brand and material your thinking about purchasing and I promise you that you won't go wrong.
Very poor quality recliners And Customer Service sucks
It took awhile to actually find someone to assist me at Southern Motion, but once I did, Mike was a delight. He explained who to reach out to and how to proceed. After following his directions, I have a fully functional recliner couch, again! Couldn't be happier! Thank you
Our new 718 sectional couldn't be more comfortable and fits perfectly in the room. The power headrest tops it off
I manage rental cabin. We on boarded a new cabin that was missing handles on two recliners. ford the info on the couches, and contacted Southern Motion. They shipped out replacements right away at no charge. great service.
Bought my recliner in December of last year. One of the preset seat position buttons has already quit working. Not good!
I was missing a part on my new sofa. Prompt help from the fine folk at Southern Motion had it fixed up. They coordinated with Jordans Furniture and I am a happy customer of both!
My Southern Motion recliner had a warranty issue develope this past weekend. This morning I contacted them regarding my situation. I received an instant reply from Customer Service. After providing a few pics, SM has my replacement part enroute UPS early this PM. I'm speechless.
SM provided exceptional customer care in record time.
Thanks again.

Just received our 883 Sectional. We ordered it the Surreal Graphite Top Grain Leather and we absolutely love it. Quality and tailoring were very good on our sectional. We loved all of the leather color options and being able to make the entire sectional in Power with the Power Headrest. Would absolutely recommend this USA made company.
Horrible materials that do not last. Couch and love seat that have multiple tears, cracks, rips and seams busting apart in the leather. Do not purchase!
I really didn t know to expect when I contacted Southern Motion. But I was very pleased with the helpfulness, courtesy, and the solution to my problem. I highly recommend them for their over customer service.
I recently purchased my Southern Motion chairs in Oct 2017, and I really love the product. Unfortunatly my new puppy got a hold of the cord before I was able to wrap the cord with a pet protector. I contacted Southern Motion and worked with Mike; I recieved prompt and understanding service. Mike replaced my cord free of charge! Southern Motion has a great product, and equally great service :) Thank you Mike!
Exceptionally fast responses and 100% resolution. Thank you!
Mike Gregory responded promptly and was very helpful in providing parts I needed to correct recliner problem. Thanks
because my couch was made using old parts i have spent 23 hours total time(yes i kept time because of possible law suit I'm filling ) finding the solution. I depended on Sam Levitz in Tucson (where I purchased) to help, THEY DIDNT i contacted the manufacture myself, then problem solving began. Will see soon if all ok. DO NOT BUY FROM SAM LEVITZ BE VERY CAREFUL ON RETAILER
I had an issue with one of my power recliners I purchased. I dealt with Mike Gregory. What a wonderful way he dealt with my problem. If you have any problems with any of your furniture don't hesitate to contact Southern Motion!
Great products. Very happy with the recliner. Great response and costumer service in my experience.
My powered love set and sofa was delivered two weeks ago from Gray's Furniture in Gulfport Ms. Other than a back brace that was only stapled in with no glue popped out and almost poked through the leather Grays took it back to fix it. But the manufacture used some Particleboard My new leather did not smell like leather like the ones in the pass that I bought. It Smelled like Formaldehyde Glue from the Chip Board that was used in the construction. ( Engineered lumber )as per the manufacture said in there web site. It is to strong of a smell as of 4 week now. I bet they can't sell this in the state of California.
I bought a recliner from a retailer that went bankrupt and it broke 2 years after buying it. Southern motion has no 800 number for service and hides behind a generic name at retailers with no.ohone number on their website for help. If you call.its the corporate factory. Furniture is poorly made screws break and the wood snaps. When you ask for assistance they say its out of warranty. Several review online suggest this company makes poor quality furniture and THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT'S . i would avoid buying from Southern motion any way possible. Only label on my chair was underneath. Make sure you ask a sales person the name brand!! Unless you like waistong money and broken furniture with bad warranties !!!
LESS THAN 1 STAR RATING!!!
Purchased a Southern Motion Producer Sectional Recliner from Hudson Furniture. After delivery I found that sitting on the end sectional I was sinking to the left side and very uncomfortable to sit in. I gave it some time thinking it might even out but never did. I called Hudson s and they did send someone out very quickly. The service technician came I told him the issue and he knew what the problem was right away. The support straps under the foam don t cover the full width of the seat so you sit uneven. He added more foam and another support strap on that side which solved the problem 95%. I told him I still slant to the left slightly, he said he could add some more foam but would probably be more uncomfortable the other direction. I asked if this was just something quality control missed, he said it s the way they design it probably to cut corners. Long story short Don t spend thousands of dollars on a Southern Motion recliner when it s not a first quality product.
I bought my power recliner in September of last year and I love it. Unfortunately, my new puppy loved the cords and chewed them to bits. I emailed the company and got a quick reply from Mike. After a couple of messages back and forth, Mike let me know that they would be sending me replacement parts (free of charge!) and I should expect them in a few days. Sure enough, the parts arrived and a few days after that my husband installed the motor and the rest of the parts, including a power button with a USB port that I didn t have before .
I am extremely satisfied with the chair and the service, and I will definitely purchase another Southern Motion product.
We had purchased recliners which we really liked (most comfortable of all we tried in all price ranges). After almost three years, one of the recliner frames was binding. We contacted Southern Motion and they immediately responded by sending the repair parts to us under the warranty. We will always look for Southern Motion furniture in the future and have recommended to others.
Bought 2 couches identical for my son at jv schultz after few monthe seats are peeling arm is loose and one of the mechanical footrest bumps or catches .Purchased 5 year warranty after being told could use out of state only later to be told it cant looks like the chance of using it with this company is pretty grime according to these reviews anyway.Experienced the same thing that most of you have gone thru allready instead of southern motion standing behind thier products they send you back to where you bought it.By now the company most definitely is aware there is a issue with the products they are marketing. There is little to no concern for their purchaser please beware i wish i would have read these reviews before a southern motion purchase.if i was the company i would be ashamed of the fact that they are marketing products knowing they will not last.Greed has sadly overtaken many aspects of the furniture industry at a cost to the hard working man.this company does not even deserve a one but had to give that so you can write a review.I guess i should tell you jv offered to repair but would you want to keep a couch after it is falling apart after a few months???? PLEASE BEWARE OF THIER PRODUCTS AND BUY ANOTHER COMPANY INSTEAD!!!!!!!!!
My Southern Motion leather power recliner is very comfortable, rocking as well as reclining. Do wish that the control buttons were more towards the front of arm rest (about 8 to 12 inches)
I purchased the sectional from Art Van. Southern Motion has been very helpful with any issues we have had. More so then Art Van. Thank you Southern Motion for standing behind your great product.
Great company and great products that are American made.
We bought an oversized loveseat a little over a year ago for $2500. The leather (which is supposed to be real leather) has faded looking spots on it. We contacted the furniture dealer who put in a claim for us but Southern Motion denied the claim saying it was "patina" and adds character. What a crock. I have had other leather furniture before and it sure didn't "patina" in spots. I would not recommend Southern Motion to anyone and will spread the word as much as I can.
DONT BUY Cracks after a year or two AND WARRANTY IS GOOD FOR NOTHING!!!!! HUDSONS furniture sold Me Junk. Hudsons NO LONGER is Around and YOU CANT CONTACT Southern Motion EVEN FOR REPLACEMENT PIECES, AWFUL COMPANY
Bought a leather reclining sofa and loveseat 18 months ago at York Furniture Gallery in Rochester, NY.
They are still soft like butter. We clean them with the leather cleaner provided. But in terms of construction, the furniture is sub-par. With very limited use of 5 or fewer hours a week (we are hardly home), one seat already has noticeable indentations in it. If you lean on the arms, you feel as though they might break right off. Definitely not worth the high price tag. Just hope nothing goes wrong, because it seems like this place is not at all responsive to customer concerns.
I won't buy Southern Motion again.
My review won't be as positive as this person. I've attempted to contact your company through your "customer service" section on your website, to no avail, as there is no phone number or option for sending an email. Therefore, I'll voice my complaint here. My husband and I purchased a sectional in September of 2011. We paid $4,005.63, which includes the fabric protection and warranty. This piece of furniture started to fail in late 2014 (relatively little use from the two people living in the household). When we contacted the retailer where purchased, we were told that the piece that was failing had just passed the warranty end date. We were livid. Paying $4005.63 for a piece of furniture that started to breakdown just beyond THREE years of owning it. But that's not the infuriating part. We grumbled and dealt with that outcome. Just months ago, the seams started falling apart, one of the motors in the seat stopped and the cushioning is HORRIBLE despite our excellent care. We returned to the retailer to inquire about the existing leftover warranty, and to our surprise, it was 5 years. We have no recourse whatsoever, according to the retailer. THAT'S the infuriating part! The piece of furniture that is in our home has not held up, at all, and our only recourse is to scrap a sectional that cost over $4000 and buy a new one, only SIX years after it's purchase! Without action on your part, I guarantee the next piece of furniture and ALL future purchased will NOT be Southern Motion and we will vehemently voice our opinion to anyone we know that is purchasing furniture that they steer clear of your products.
I a 64 and disabled. I purchased a Southern Motion power recliner through a rent to own company. A few days ago the power unit went out. After a lot of searching, I found this website. They listed an email contact. I did contact them and explained what I was looking for. Just moments ago, I received an email from customer service. I read the email twice. These people don't know me, but to my surprise they are sending me the part I need to once again recline. I am not use to such generosity and kindness. I love my chair, and until the unit failed, I had no idea of the manufacturer. I am so very please with the whole process I went through and how speedy they took care of this issue. So please remember the name for future needs. Southern Motion. Thanks!!
Purchased a sofa from a local furniture store, the cushion worn out in less then a month. Warranty will cover it but this should not have happen after only a month. Not Happy with product and more unhappy with the place it was purchased.
Bought a dual recliner couch and love seat, both non reclining. Within 6 weeks I had a spring come out on the back of one of the seats on the couch. When I went to look to see if I could fix it/what was wrong (I couldn't see it and couldn't fix it) a bolt fell out of the couch. Repair person was sent said the bolt apparently was just left in the couch somewhere as they couldn't see where one was missing and that the spring hadn't been properly installed. Not 2 weeks later, a spring pops out on the seat. That I was able to put back myself but this is ridiculous.
I mailed this company as I had never heard of them. I was questioning the framing of their furniture, sectionals to be exact. They responded with a days time. I was impressed with the information I received as well as how quickly they responded. Many people are eager to give a bad review, not many take the time to give a good one.
I sent a note through the website with a question. The note was answered the next business day and Mike helped with my request immediately. I love my new reclining furniture and would highly recommend Southern Motion to anyone.
Great quality and price! This American company made me feel part of the family with genuine Hospitality and a very helpful staff!! With their endless options and Fabric, leather choices I was able to design my furniture to fit my home with a lot of style and comfort! I had an amazing experience and will always use Southern Motion for all of my Motion Furniture needs!!
We bought Southern Motion furniture for the main purpose of MADE IN THE USA. I am a rocking chair lover. I used the rocker until the base was chipping apart. I contacted Southern Motion before we went out and purchased another rocker. Mr. Gregory was very professional and replaced the rocker base on both rockers. These base bottoms were shipped free of charge and replaced free of charge. Just four bolts and each rocker was back in business. Im rocking!
Just purchased two power recliners last summer and the teflon piece that rides down the motor shaft fractured. Looks like a flimsy piece for such a critical part. (connecting the shaft to the metal risers). Purchased from HHGregg which went out of business so i cant go back to them for warranty replacement. Now i'm finding it's impossible to get ahold of anyone from SouthernMotion.
Great products, great people and all American made quality.
Had a transformer go out on one of my motion loveseats. Got in touch with them and they helped me diagnose the issue, then they sent me the parts and things are as good as new. They made an oh no into a isn't that nice. Good job Mike
This company has shown excellent customer service. I emailed with a question about a faulty USB port in the control buttons of our three year old couch. They offered to send me two new replacement buttons if I would return the defective parts so they could see what failed. Thanks Mike G.
Greg in KY
Thanks for the quick response and kind offer to replace switch, Hank
We have owned our Southern Motion Sofas for less than 2 years. At over $2300 EACH we are extremely disappointed. The furniture is not comfortable for us or any of our friends or family. I m 5 4 and my husband is 6 3 and neither of us fit comfortably on these sofas! I need to sit on one or two pillows or the headrest is useless. There is no support for the lumbar of your back making it necessary to roll a towel to put behind your lower back.
The seemed okay in the showroom and I have gone back to the store and sat in the floor model. Although they are exactly the same model, the store model is much more comfortable because it seems to have better stuff used as filling. I even sit higher in that one without a pillow!!!
I would never recommend these sofas. I do not know the size people they are designed for. We actually tried selling them during the first year but the common comment was the fit is not good for my body, neck, etc.
If I could afford to GIVE them away, I would do so in a heartbeat. I wanted something Made in America so that was a part of my decision.
All in all, it was a bad purchase for our home and very expensive at that!!
The quality does seem good and they are very nice looking.
Sadly, we lay on the floor with the dogs because it s more comfortable!!! How pitiful is that??? We are in our late 60 s. That s pretty bad.
We did go back to the store within 30 days but they said there was nothing we could do. The entire experience just makes me wonder if Made in America was worth it.
Try Rooms to Go, they are nicer there than anywhere.
GREAT QUALITY. THE BEST CHAIR I HAVE EVER PURCHASE,! IT'S AMERICAN MADE !!
I purchased a sofa and love seat two years ago. The cushion part under our knees has become quite misshaped. It looks awful. Very disappointed.
Email response was prompt, professional and to the point. I like that! I worked with Mr. Mike Gregory. Mike handled the situation like a true pro. He is a true testament to fantastic customer service!!!
Awesome customer service. We had an issue and they more then made up for it. We even ended up buying more of there products because of their customer service. Definitely 5 star service in my book!
Every company in the industry has problems with bonded leather. Apart from that, Southern Motion makes La-z Boy quality for half the price.
