I have strong feelings about this hotel as the pro...

I have strong feelings about this hotel as the property itself was ok but I guess the treatment of the staff towards me was both unacceptable but it s was more than that, it was just so cold and not helpful whatsoever. I was staying at the hotel because my company was sponsoring an event at the hotel, so my company had booked and paid for my room. When I arrived at the hotel, I realised that I had left my wallet back in Melbourne so I was freaked out by that, but the worst part was that they wouldn t check me in until I left a $100 deposit for room extras! It was so embarrassing! My company had booked 5 rooms for 3 nights at the hotel, and I was stunned when she said to me sorry, it s policy after I asked her if she could check me in and when my boss arrives later that night, I m sure he will use his card as security, but all I got was a no . So, now I m stranded with no money, and I can t get to my room. So I waited around until my boss came, 4 hours later before I was given my room which had been already paid for. I really felt that they were just outright cruel, inhuman thing to do, especially that the room was paid for, and we had multiple rooms. Surely they would have known my booking was legitimate and that my company would pay. Really bad experience.

It's well connected to the CBD. My non smoking room smelt of cigarette smoke in the bathroom like a local bar. Front desk staff are functional at best and the same can be said for the bell man either it was the wrong time of day but barely an acknowledgement everytime I passed

Had a 2 day conference in this hotel.

Had a 2 day conference in this hotel.

The hotel is good location. Very easy to find and accessible for someone who is not local.

Ballroom is massive and can accomodate alot of people. Old chairs near rusty. Sound proofing is an issue. I could hear a different group in another room screaming, shouting and singing. Disturbing our conference.

The Bastille room was quite small and for around 100 people seating side by side. AC might be on but with heaps of people I felt really stuffy.

Food is a bit average. Sofitel is good with desserts. Coffee by Roaster Guy needs serious attention. It tasted good on first 10 cups but the rest were rushed and its better to pour your own coffee from a thermos.

Overall, 8/10 rating

Why haven't other reviewers addressed the impossib...

Why haven't other reviewers addressed the impossibly slow Internet at this hotel, which bills itself as a luxury hotel that serves international business travelers? The days of 56K dial-up are supposed to be well behind us, but not at Sofitel, where, if you load a couple Google maps of the city or watch a YouTube video, your allotted one gig of data is gobbled up, after which the hotel places an enormous pipe wrench around band width. Oh, but you can pay extra for faster speeds. With up-charges and a smile, the front desk can ensure that you might even be able to check your email.

Step outside to the curb, and you find that the city of Brisbane has free and robust wifi. One imagines that one could throw on some grubby blue jeans and a t-shirt, and proceed to plop down cross-legged on the sidewalk in front of the hotel. Suggestion: while camping on sidewalk with device in hand, leave your laptop case wide open so that passersby might chuck coins into it.

The hotel's stingy disposition toward providing reasonable online access for its guests unfortunately taints other aspects of the hotel that could otherwise be considered above average, such as the glorious morning buffet and truly excellent cafe staff. They want you to be well fed before your sidewalk sessions.

WOW. I booked a Mother s Day package for my wife which turned out to be the best hotel experience I ve ever had anywhere in the world. Prue checked us in, made special arrangements for our evening dinner at Aria and also organised for us to be chauffeured from Sofitel to Aria and back again afterwards. When we got back to the room, a huge bunch of flowers had been delivered with a personal card from Prue. We also had bottle of sparkling delivered as a gift.

The room was amazing and we had the best nights sleep (sans children of course). I could not fault a single element of our stay at the Sofitel and I highly recommend!!!

Prue and Sofitel made us feel like the most important people staying with them. Thank you.

I met my friend for a quick drink. I sat with him in the lounge upon arrival. Five minutes later I walked into the bar and was told, no problem sir what do you want, we'll bring it over for you. Upon drinks arriving I was asked for my room number. I advised that neither of us were guests and then the waiter was quite flustered about having to get the bill settled. This could have been avoided by checking which room as the first question

IN July 2016 we decided to celebrate an important family event at the Hotel s interactive dining buffet. ON arrival we were greeted pleasantly by Matire D and staff and provided a lovely table by the window with pleasant view around 8;30 pm. Unfortunately from there our experience went rapidly downhill.

There was a fork and wrapper on the floor near our table which remained there all night. The quality of the food on the buffet was very poor sushi was dry, oyster KP were very dry, some salads looked stale, presentation was poor. Buffet was not regularly tidied or restocked.
There appeared to be no staff serving at the roast counter and no meat available.
The wait staff were more attentive to table resetting for breakfast than clearing our dirty plates. It was difficult to catch staff attention to order drinks.
The T & Coffee station was dirty with milk looking liked it had been warming for hours. I had assumed the Hotel was a 4-5 star property and therefore would reflect this in quality and service but I was sadly disappointed. Further the value for money @ around $299 with drinks for a party of 4 was also not there. We had chosen not to attend local eats at perhaps around $25-30 per head for inner city quality but were disappointed. Whilst the staff were always friendly and the Maire D very kind, it seemed like there was a general lack of quality. I contacted the Mgr and after 1 month had to follow up myself. While we were offered
an apology there was nothing else and this left me much more disappointed with our experience. Recommend you find somewhere else.

My husband Derek and I had booked to stay at Sofitel located in Brisbane from December 31 to 02 Jan plus the New Year s night dinner. Dinner was hopeless, Same food when we stayed in July that same year. Lamb was under cooked, Seafood lacked the fresh flavour like it had been frozen then thawed eg Bugs and prawns.
Overall i didn't see any thing fancy for such a special occasion, same food we had previously ( so much cold food).
Breakfast, The same thing in the two mornings we stayed. need bit more variety of food indeed. With the diversity of cultures you have in staff how about adding that same diversity in your food. eg Thai, Chinses etc.
