Social Security Administration Review

Security Guard is very rude and unprofessional, I waited an hour and went to the restroom for only 30sec I missed my # being called but it was still on the board I was asking which # I go to and he was saying "well if you didn't hear it, you didn't hear it." Waste of my time. Ive read on other reviews don't ask him questions and I agree. + Their speakers suck! Oh and you can't be on a phone call in there but he will be on speaker phone talking to whoever -_- bruhhh

Maybe these security rent a cops need some reality check and go clean up trash out in this wonderful heat without water. Wanna be air conditioned badge holders refusing to allow water for those that are in need of public services need to go clean trash, it sure fits there pay.

They are really quick at answering all your questions and the wait isn't long at all

Bad place for a one legged man got here at 8:15am and there was a line of people to the parking lot. Not one place to sit down outside and I'm on crutches. Think I will come back when I'm dead it might be faster.

I called the Amarillo office with a difficult question. I had ZERO wait time, which surprised me and the agent was extremely helpful and friendly. She was knowledgeable and answered my question immediately. I am extremely grateful!

On Friday I visited the SSA office in Amarillo to find out details about retirement. I had read the bad reviews and was prepared for the worst. There were many people waiting, but there was no disturbances while I was there. I brought a laptop and worked for over an hour and kept myself busy, instead of sitting there stewing over the fact that it took a long time. It is a fact that it will take some time, but I found the representative, John, to be quite helpful and pleasant. Don't blame the workers for the delays. I believe they are doing the best they can do with the limited staff that they have. Prepare to be gracious and kind! They are real people like you and me!

This place is so unprofessional. A lady with short salt and pepper hair (didn t get her name unfortunately) yelled at me and treated me like a little kid! She was so rude! They make you feel like your a inconvenience to them it s awful!!

I was able to take a 79 year old man up there to sign up for social security pay, 2 visits and it took a total of an hour to get him signed up. Best experience ever.

Security guard is rude and is unhelpful. Would rather sit in his chair than help those who don't know how to use touchscreen computer. Not everyone is computer literate so get up and be useful. One customer was hard of hearing and office personal just stared at him and commented on whether or not to walk off instead of going to him and asking and guard just laughed and kept sitting down. These people are useless.

It was confusing at first but the person who answered the phone in Amarillo TX office was very kind, she listen Carey and guide us to the answers.

Spoke with a woman regarding a social security penalty I was being charged even though I had documentation of prior medical insurance through my employer. She basically said, " so what do you expect me to do about it" and said I should hear something in 60 to 90 days. She didn't give me her name, I suppose there's a reason for that. Anyway, I called back and she answered the phone. I said, I spoke with you just a few minutes ago and did not get you name. She replied, I have 13 lines ringing and hung up on me. Where does the SS administration find these people? How can people be so rude and keep their jobs?

Made an appointment to apply for retirement benefits. It was supposed to be by phone. Waited for three weeks. Confirmed they had correct phone #. They never called. Tried to call them. First time waited on hold for 15 minutes, then disconnected. Called second time was told they had called and no answer. Told them never received call, female representative was rude and told me not to argue with her. Repeated I had never gotten call. She did tell me I would be called in about 45 minutes still waiting.

Business hours are pathetic. 9-4 Mon,Tue,thurs, and Fri. 9-noon in Wednesdays, and observe every single holiday. .

I've called numerous times at different times of the day. I've never spoken with a live person. 3 months ago I did have a man answer and he took all my information and said they won't call you back today and probably not tomorrow. I've yet to hear from them. The SSA.gov website can't tell you how much social security you will receive from an ex spouse. How does one decide when to file when you can't get answers?

Always packed to capacity, and you're lucky if you even get to talk to an agent. Everyone is slow, and act like you're wasting their time.

How about having a live "person" answering your phones!.... Your current "method" stinks and is frustrating, a total waste of time! WE have to get back to WORK! .....

Went in when they opened but the computer was down. A lady was there and immediately started doing our signing in by hand. I was with someone within 15 minutes. He tried to fix my problem but later I found out that it didn't work because of the computers being down. I was in and out in 20 minutes. I have always been helped by the nicest people and this is the only time I've had any problems.

Tried to ask the security guard a question. He told me to turn around and read the sign. I looked at him and he said what s the mater can t you read.

Literally the least useful league of degenerates to ever grace the term "staff." It absolutely astounds me that after multiple two hour waits that the men I encountered had conflicting stand points on what I should need and shouldn't need, leading me into a wild goose that concluded to be fruitless. It seems as though the staff hired cannot agree upon what is substantial for appropriate materials to continue in my endeavors. I have never been more dumbfounded by a group of vapid, insincere mouth breathers who know so little of their job - one that is an essential need to amarillo's infrastructure.

I had the best representative once I was called, but the four hours leading up to that, I was stuck listening to your rude and extremely disrespectful security guard. We are adults, and should be talked to as such. Threatening people with felonies because he thought they had a pocket knife?! Come on. He even told a woman if he heard her phone one more time she needed to leave to her vehicle, and that everyone seemed to miss all the signs leading to the office about the rules . All about safety, but I m also about respect, and he is greatly lacking in that department.

Security guard sucks. He's rude. No phones on. No drinks for kids. Can't talk. It's like jail. Phone system needs to be upgraded. I don't know anyone there's last name so let me talk to a person. I hate going up there. And they can be open on Wednesdays later than noon an also later than 5. Laziest people.

Asked a question on line to learn I would be charged $32 for an answer to my question. Noticed they are closed this afternoon. Does anyone have an idea when is the best time to visit the office? To reach someone by phone is virtually impossible. Great government service, uh?!!!

Sent in documents as directed via phone in order to have my name changed and they send everything EXCEPT my SS Card back to me with things highlighted and NO further information on what they want for my name to be changed.

Got in and out within 10 minutes. Staff was friendly.

What good does calling do if you don't know the extention you need it the name of the person? Gives you no other options and disconnects.

Took two hours (which is excusable) what wasn t though was the rent a cop that sat in the waiting area. He treats everyone there like trash and is very rude. He wouldn t help anyone, got very mad when someone made a joke of sitting in a seat next to him (it was an obvious joke, there was even laughter). And yelled a couple times when a phone went off All this being said when I did get my number called it was friendly and quick.
FYI: good luck with a parking spot. There is 20 spots at most

I called the Amarillo office with a question about starting benefits. The first time I called, around 10am on a Monday, I was put in the queue for 15 minutes then told my call could not be handled and that I should call back later. There was terrible static on the line. I called again at 1:15 pm and there was no static this time around. A representative answered quickly and was able to answer my question within two minutes. The man that helped me was very professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. I give them four stars instead of five only because of the terrible static on their phone line on my first call attempt.

Short wait time ,very professional , people need to realize they are not the only person there

I've had moments that have been great here and also sone that have been awful. I know we cannot change the amount of people that are going to show up but I have waited a long time on some occasions. I had a woman who worked here who was very rude but also met a man who was one of the nicest most helpful people that work there.

This place is so rude and unprofessional its sad that seniors have a hard time getting enrolled into Medicare just because Social Security don't want to do its job

These people are so rude! I'm a very courteous and polite. Yes ma'am and no ma'am kind of thing. I called just too ask about how i can go about getting a replacement card for one of my children that i never got after she was born. And she was just awful towards me. Then she asked me what my child's social was? I told her i never received it. Thats why i was calling ma'am ! They talk too you like your bothering them and you shouldn't be calling! My goodness. I know what it feels like too deal with people and customer service, so I treat hardworking people with respect. Thats not the people at the Social office though. Something needs too be done!

Security guard was beyond rude! Every small ringer that went off with the lowest volume he'd say "turn your phone on silent or leave it in your car!" Repeatedly, I'd understand if it was LOUD. While waiting nearly two to two and a half hours he decides to get up and start saying all the federal offences and charges if you had any kind of knife, gun, pepper spray, ect., then continuing to be rude and very sturn when speaking that he just came off as someone who just wants to force and control every move you make. I'm like, bro! Chill out! Be a human rather than a machine!, the speaker system sucks, yoh cant hardly hear your number being called, but when you finally do get called up there they took care of me very quickly and efficiently.

I came to get a replacement card today and right off the back the security guard was rude to me threatening to kick people out they would have to come back tomorrow rude ppl here I hope I NEVER have to step foot in here again

Long wait times; poor paging/speaker system is difficult to hear. Service rep was very friendly and professional.

Someone knows how to make complaints and report thease employees..they are very rude and lazy (not all - number 6 is perfect and friendly and also very helpful)..i saw the number 5 a female shouting and looking for trouble with people ...some of then really do not want to do their jobs well ..they are not happy if some one ask them more information ans questions relating to their process and purpose..specially the person in window 5 right front of the entrance door ...i just want to know there is nobody to control them ?? or people have to tolerate these lawlessness and rudeness ..? Really shoked to see their behavior with people ..just a few staffs doing their job sincerely and care their costumers

My name is lyana and i got call not to long ago from you guys saying i have suspicious activity on my social security and i dont why because i live in lancaster pa and they calling me from Texas why i need a call back because i been waiting on the phone to talk to someone and still nothing. Nevermind i just talk to someone and they said its a scam goung around and to watch out for IRS calls and Medicaid calls and Social Security calls going to watch out.

I only give them a one cause i cant give you a negative beyond mad my children had juices in cups and was told i couldnt have them in here so i proceeded to put them in my purse and their whatever he is guarding the door says no mam you cant do that either im sorry but i had to tell my children they couldnt have a juice inside because they feel the need to say juice is dangerouse what ki d of bs is that if i could have fone this online i sure would have instead of coming here where no one knows what the hell they are doing and sorry but no i have no respect for people who are uterly rude to children my tolerance is 0 with that one

Pressed one for English and then my only options were dialing extensions for people (which I didnt need) or pressing the number for location and hours (which I didnt need). How do I SPEAK with someone?!

They want you to mail passports and other items that if lost keep people from traveling so they need to open up and take care of visitors applying for a ss card that are here legally and the postal service cannot be depended on for squat

Possibly the worst example of a government organization. First off, the security guard does absolutely nothing but make sure you don't have any drinks, don't dare ask him a question. Second, they call your number over their PA system, but the speakers are shot, the employees have no clue how to speak clearly and not cut themselves off. Then you sit there for, in my case an hour and a half, before finally being called. Once you finally get called the employee at the window is thw rude and acts as if you are an inconvenience to them. Went once to get a card ordered, should have been 3 weeks to get it, after 5 weeks had to go back because we had yet to receive it. Turns out the first employee did not enter the order correctly so now we have to wait 2 more weeks. Truly a f***ing joke.
