So I don't get all the bad reviews for this place - it was a wonderful experience staying here!

You do not have to use the valet - I found a meter a stone throw's away from the hotel. The valet guy, Kip helped out alot finding a meter spot.

Jane the front the desk agent - was very pleasent to deal with. She answered all my questions and was able to get me the PERFECT room for my stay.

The room was very nice - yes this is old building - so the room had a lot of character that I loved! I got a corner room overlooking main street. The bed and pillows were very nice - I honestly wanted to steal one of the pillows to take home, but I didn't. The room & bathroom were very clean. The bathroom even had a TV in it.

The rooftop bar was a nice feature and had a great view of Columbia.

Overall - I will stay here again!

Did not meet the standards of the Sheraton. Room had musty smell. I had a 2 night stay and my room did not get clean after the 1st night. I was very disappointed this was not what I expected from a Downtown Sheraton. I asked that manager reach out to me so that I could voice my concerns. Of course that didn't happen. This is my last visit there.

Comfortable bed! They lose a star for not having a mini fridge in the room. If you need one, there s a $35 dollar fee, and they will deliver one for the duration of your stay. I have dietary restrictions, so I always carry snacks for the road, so this was a bit of a bummer. Management made a weird choice here, as while rooms don t include the mini fridge, they have a tv in the bathroom.

This hotel is in a great location within walking distance to many sights. Our room on the 4th floor was small but stylish. Housekeeping could clean a little better. One of the shades in our window would not close, luckily it also had a blackout shade, so we just closed that instead. Very nice lobby and hallway on our floor. The bed was not comfortable for me, but my husband loved it, which says to me it is more of a firm bed with not much give. We enjoyed our stay and would return and recommend to friends and family. Love the Starbucks just underneath. My reason for the 3 stars is simply for size of the room and the cleanliness could be better, but I am extremely OCD, so I am sure it would be fine for most who aren't plagued with my affliction. :)

The staff was very friendly and courteous. The bar upstairs is a hidden gem in Columbia. All kinds including politicians and heavy movers frequent the Rooftop Bar. Another plus is the nicely-appointed Starbucks downstairs. Plenty of space to hang out with college students and sip on a latte.

Hotel is fine but Google says the parking is free but my reserevation says I will be charged $12 for off site parking. The google info influenced me to book the room and after booking I saw the $12 charge would be applied. Need to fix that on google.

The ghosts are the only good thing about the Sheraton Columbia Downtown Hotel.
Valet service was fine.Check in service was slow as the front desk person was on the phone. Lobby lights were off next to the elevators which was very odd. Room was nice, beds were comfy. Tried to get room service but I kept getting rerouted to the operator. Couldn't get room service because the girl on the phone said she was the only one working. She also said she was out of all white wines which we thought was strange for a hotel of that size.Went down to the Vault bar to get food because my kids were starving. Menu was boring and very limited. We ordered food and carried the plates up to our room. We had to set down the plates in the lobby because food was falling from the plates yet no staff offered to assist us. Food was Ok. No mini bar or snacks in the room and no vending machines. Around midnight I awoke to loud sounds coming from the hall way and the room next door. At one point the noises got so loud that even my kids woke up and we all thought that there was an earthquake or some other disaster due to the noise. Ay first it sounded like luggage carts speeding up and down the hall. When I peered into the hall no one was there. Next we heard a hairdryer in the room next door and suddenly there was music playing- jazz music. Next there was loud banging on the windows as if someone was pounding their fists against the window over and over again. There were startling banging noises that sounded like pipes or an old machine being turned on then off again. The hallway noises started up again as well. The sounds were so loud and so odd that we became frightened. It reminded me of a loud thunderstorm with heavy winds, yet the weather was fine. This went on for 10 minutes or so and then there was silence. The building appears to be very old so there may actually be some ghosts wandering the halls at night. In my opinion that is the only good thing this hotel has going for it.

The hotel has an awesome, classic feel to it. The rooms are not like your typical hotel room but feel more like a master bedroom in an old house. The rooftop bar has a great view (although you can expect to pay hotel prices). Friendly, accommodating staff. Very pleasant stay!

I found a piece of consumed GUM left on the floor laying between the bedroom to the bathroom path when I checked in the room, very disgusting! I went downstairs to request some house cleaning to clean that. I went back to the room and I found the faucet doesn't work. I went downstairs and the front desk firstly mentioned that it is a high floor water pressure issue. Then they felt bad somehow and go upstairs with to confirm that it is a bad faucet. So they finally got me a room, no upgrade, nothing offered for the inconvenience. After I checked out the room I found a bag of water in the ice bucket even though I never get ice cubes from ice machine during my stay. So it was left ice from previous guests. Obviously the house cleaning didn't try too hard to clean the house and miss every details they could have missed. So does the front desk, the lady, front desk manager (I forgot her name) wasn't helpful and didn't try. I checked out the room left 10k+ worth of items in the safe. I came back to lost and found and it wasn' t there. The room was checked in by other guests and I understand that they said they won't be able to bother the guest about this. Again, the house cleaning didn't reset the SAFE as they didnt reset the ice bucket or reset the room as I mentioned above. Luckily the guest who stayed in that room that night was able to help me to get my items back. I filed a claim with Marriott customer support and this hotel closed the case without even reach out to me, no phone call nor email. It is sad that they even lied about this. The hotel has a cool bar but it is so dull and very disappointing, bad staff. If you have other choice you don't want to stay here.

Perfect blend of contemporary mix with history and southern charm! Outside of the great amenities such as a Starbucks and wonderful rooftop bar (when open) hotel also offers TV's in the bathroom! Beds are soft, yet supple and will cater and support you. The city has an open air market on Saturday morning so you can walkout your room onto some really great localized shopping. Hotel has lots of choices in walking distance for restaurants, bars, clubs and shopping.

My husband and I are in the process of buying a house in SC. We have been staying with this Sheraton while house shopping, when we came down for inspections, and the appraisal. The rooms are comfy and bathrooms are nice. While it is cramped it gets the job done. For the pros Bradley at the front desk is wonderful. He is helpful, attentive, and really cares that his guests enjoy their time. We have recently lost our key fob to our vehicle and as most know remote start fobs aren t cheap. He s gone out of his way to help us get it back. We are going to be sad to see him leave but wish him the best in his next chapter. Kim at the club lounge during breakfast is nice. Now the cons the hotel is pet friendly and we had dog mess in our room upon check in. Staff handled it and we went along with life. Now josh at the front desk is where the real problem starts. He has a terrible attitude, seems to think since he s a supervisor of sorts (more of a dollar menu manager but to each his own) he can speak to anyone in any tone, we used the valet service and it was busy one night no parking to leave the vehicle so josh suggests to leave the vehicle running in the middle of the street someone will get to it later, we are missing the key to the vehicle and josh implies it s not his problem hung up on myself and my husband when we called. Overall this is a nice property, we will probably switch to the Marriott two steps down however due to poor customer service.

We stayed at the Sheraton downtown for a family wedding and could not have been happier. The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting downtown Columbia.

Nice hotel, loved the character. Problem was being in rm 307 we were next to the ice maker, elctronic room, mechanical room and laundry chute. There was no way to rest and be lazy after 830. Otherwise the bedding, bathrooms and room itself were clean and nice.

After a long day of working on my friend's rental house all we wanted was a hot shower and comfortable bed to sleep on. This hotel was first on the search list and we are both glad it was. The room was clean, had a nice view of Washington St, and the beds were amazing. The hotel staff were all very hospitable and gave us great advice on local eateries and offered to call our cab for us. I was extremely pleased with our stay! Plan to always look for Sheraton first for all my travels.

Would have given a better rating, but part of the reason we went there was the rooftop bar. Made the reservation for the next day, asked specifically about the rooftop but when we checked in were told it was closed for construction. The room was nice, the bathroom was great, the bed and pillows were heavenly.

Let me first say the ONLY reason I'm giving a 3 Star is because the water pressure in the shower was amazing. Let's get to it.
At first glace the hotel is beautiful. Converted from a bank to a hotel. They even turned the original vault into a martini bar (currently closed due to Covid).
The lobby was gorgeous. Friendly enough staff. No parking. Garage was almost a block away and valet currently suspended due to Covid. Lobby had signs for multiple restaurants that don't exist anymore. Spent a bit of time looking for them too. Carpet in the stairwells was disgusting, discolored. Only 1 of the elevators went to the Rooftop Lounge on the 17th floor. When we came back to the hotel in the evening there were no lights on in the hallway with the elevators, strange.
Booked a junior suite. Room size was good, bed was great, views from the 10th floor were nice, and as previously stated; water pressure was great.
Now the bad.
There were stains on the desk, the couch, the walls, long hairs all over the chair at the desk. The bathroom had rust ALL over the light fixtures and the door. The glass for the shower had a huge gap between the wall which caused water to get all over the floor and begin to peel back the wallpaper.
Kind of disappointed with this Sheraton. We've stayed with this brand before and have always been impressed. Not sure what happened here.
Look elsewhere for lodging. I'm sure you could stay at another mediocre hotel in the area, at least then you could save yourself $60+
