The hotel is in an old bank building. The bank volt was turned into a bar called The Volt.
The rooms pretty small because the old building. The large chair can barely fit the gap between the desk and bed, and you have to be in good shape to fit in (maybe a smaller chair?) The doors are not good sound proofed, you can clearly hear hear the talk from the hall way inside the room so I can imaging the other way around.
It was pretty cold the week I was there, in the 30s. But I guess the rooms only have AC (cooling) but no heat. My room was 64 and I wanted to heat it up to 72, but after ten minutes or so it dropped down to 62.
The club lounge is on the 16th floor, the goods are okay. The roof top lounge has nice view.
I took uber to the hotel and stayed for 4 nights. But somehow I was charged for 3 nights of valet parking from 2nd to the last day. Not sure how that happened. Front desk was able to correct the bill. But with just one person only at the front desk taking care of guests and phone calls, everything has to wait. I called the front desk a couple of times from the room phone and no one picked up after a minute so I went to the lobby for faster response.
There was a glitch in the system, so somehow my four nights (even at check in) became 3 nights and house keeping busted into my room while I was working in my room.
Overall, a good location for downtown, but need some really good management and care.

Showered in about 6 inches of standing water because the drains on the upper floors back up in the old building.

Fox news is intentionally blocked out in the lobbies and common areas, yet strangely available in our room. That was a very disappointing find...too many businesses take a political stance that shouldn't.

I thought the room was going to be a little bit bigger. The lady that checked us in was grrrrrreat. It would be nice if there was a covered walk way to the garage. But over all so far it's nice.

We didn't stay at the hotel we went to the bar on the roof and it was horrible! It was extremely hot with very little ventilation or fans to cool you off. We were up there 30 minutes and never got served. We left without getting drinks.

ATTENTION PLEASE SOMEONE LISTEN TO MY CONCERN: I was staying at your establishment for an overnight stay. And as soon as I put my head down to rest I hear this terrible commotion as if someone was engaging an an altercation. Upon listening closely by the door, To my dismay I immediately called front desk and asked who was in charge this Sunday afternoon of housekeeping and her name was SAMANTHA, she was a heavy set black woman in her mid 20 s 5 5 maybe A manager of any establishment to engage in a disagreement with her fellow co workers. She was disrespectful to her employees and in a hallway So sad to witness needless to say I will not be returning. Thank you #unprofressional

Less than to be desired

Less than to be desired
Big time mold in bathroom (see pictures). In addition, no ice makers for guests to use. We hope others do not make the same mistake we did. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. We asked a manager to discuss with us prior to leaving and no response from management. The staff says say Mr. Patel is the owner and the manager is Alex Jennings. For the record, the "management"response below is not accurate; I was never contacted by management other than the reply below. Avoid this place.

Well we paid for a Suite but we got a crappy room with creeking floors, no tub in the bathroom..but you did get a tv to watch while you used the bathroom(really dumb). There was No refrigerator, no microwave, no couch bed (no suite) plus there were dead bugs in the bathroom floor ... The room was unbearbly hot the A/C didn't work... Called the front desk to ask for a fan... None was available. Plus there wasn't any Un-Paid parking available... It cost an extra $50 to park... I was terrible disappointed with the room, the parking and the Sheraton reputation.... As far as I'm concerned I will never Stay with any of the Sheraton Hotels again and I will tell my associate's about my awful experience as well.

Great staff, great stay. The place is an old bank that was converted into a hotel. Roof top lounge as well. Starbucks is inside of the building. Rooms are modern but mixed with old school character.

The room was okay, the problem was my check in time was 3 p.m. I arrived at 5 and was told my room wouldn't be available for 30-45 min. I was attending a concert that night and needed to shower. Finally after an hour and 15 min room was finally available. Needless to say I was late to the concert and got no reduced rate or anything to compensate the aggravation after dealing with everything. So on my next visit to Columbia I will definitely choose another hotel. Not to mention the room price was doubled because of the concert. So I lost out twice.

100 teenagers are in line from a field trip I go to the serving where nobody has gotten there are simply asked for a glass of water while she was standing in front of the water and me said I had to get in line to pay 50 cents I need the water to take my meds before coffee. This has happened before at this SB and is the only one and I go to a lot of SB that has ever charged me for water!!!!!!

The lobby was beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. Historic and in the heart of downtown but there wasn't a restaurant. We ate in a very small bar and it was very expensive. They do have room service. Also they have no parking at the hotel so you have to park in paid parking garage or you can get valet. Long wait to check in and there are no vending machines.

Our room was nice but the restaurant wasn't. Roof top lounge was closed along with the regular restaurant. The Martini bar was open and served food but only part of the items on the menu were available. Steak was raw when I got it and the crab cakes were crab balls not crab cakes. Disappointing to say the least.

My husband I had a terrible experience. The staff was very disconnected and the information they provided was not helpful. We had to leave early due to an emergency and the hotel REFUSED to refund us for the one night we did not stay. I plan to tell everyone we know do not stay at this hotel. Terrible experience and it was my Birthday weekend.

Hotel itself was fine however after looking at our credit card, we have a mystery $155 charge and our friends who had another room had a mystery charge of $168 on their card. We both used points for our rooms so should have only been charged for valet parking which was $23 a night and we were only there 1 night. I would recommend to keep an eye on the bill for the card you use at this hotel especially if you booked your room with points

The best hotel I've ever been privileged enough to stay at. Gorgeous building, and it only gets more breathtaking when you walk in. High quality rooms (there was even a tv by the shower), and high quality service. Also, they are one of few hotels that allow people under 21 to book a reservation.

We did not stay at the hotel...we only visited the Starbucks that is located on the basement level of the building. It is a big Starbucks with plenty of seating and a great staff. The only downside is that in order to enter the Starbucks from the street level you have to negotiate a long, steep, poorly lighted stairwell of steps thst are very well worn in the center of each step. On a nice day, you have to be very careful when navigating this stairwell; on a rainy day, when the steps get wet, it has to be problematic.

I like the quirky decor. The bed and sheets were really comfortable and the shower and bathroom were spacious. I liked the breakfast, made with real eggs. The restaurant was way overpriced with no cheap small bite options.

Excellent location. Parking can be interesting, either valet or you can sometimes park on the street. Hotel is old but unique. Has an old bank vault, complete with huge door, that is now a bar. Real wood floors in the room, nice bathroom with a little tv.

BEAUTIFUL hotel with an awesome rooftop bar. The only negative is they charge for everything. Where most hotels you can request a refrigerator in the room they charge about $30.00. It seemed like that was the case with most amenities. Other than that great stay.

Very nice hotel. Historic with modern amenities. Great views from the roof. Starbucks in the basement is a nice addition. Service is good especially the valets. The hotel breakfast could've been better.

We came up here for Hurricane Dorian. My Wife and I were surprised that a hotel like this would be pet friendly. The rooms are pretty nice ( we were on the 8th floor with a single king bed). Because it is an original building, the bathroom didn't have an exhaust vent. You can tell some of the fixtures are rusting because of this. The bed was wonderful! All the staff we had the pleasure of interacting with were friendly, courteous, and most greeted us with a smile. The dining seems excessively pricey, but it is "fine dining". The building is old but very well kept. Because of it's location, the Sheraton is a great choice for those who want to walk the strip at night for lights sights and sounds. Overall a great stay

We live in Columbia and don't get a hotel unless there's an event going on and we don't feel like driving home. That was the case with staying here. This was our first time staying at the Sheraton and I really enjoyed it. The staff was extremely friendly and went out of their way to assist us. Our room, while smaller than other places we've stayed, was absolutely beautiful with one of the most comfortable beds I've ever laid in. It's centrally located and in the perfect location to get to many of the downtown attractions. Not to mention the Starbucks in the basement. I enjoyed the hotel and wouldn't mind staying there again.

Room was small. No refrigerator, no clock, only 1 garbage can located in the bathroom, took 10 minutes running the water full blast before it was warm enough to wash my face, water was barely warm enough to take a shower but there's a TV in the bathroom so ya know...

Loved it! I will definitely be back - downtown and close to the action. The Sheraton is a class act - here's the down low...
There was a minor plumbing issue and my wife and I had to take cold showers just before checkout - the Sheraton discounted our room SIGNIFICANTLY to make up for the hassle. Much appreciated and I will definitely remember this treatment.

We stayed there the night of our wedding. They brought us complimentary champagne. They definitely went above and beyond. The room was great and all the staff we interacted with were incredibly nice. We also had drinks at the Vault which was really cool.

This was a last minute pick while having to shoot over to Columbia for a business trip from Charleston. The charm of the hotel being in a space previously used as a bank seemed interesting enough. There are some areas that could use attention, the carpeted stairs and some tiles. But overall added to the esthetic. Ate dinner at 'Posh' the hotel restaurant - advice? Skip it. The service was nice - the food was subpar. There are so many worthy restaurant's in the downtown area. Rooftop Bar - A MUST! The view is stunning and the bar itself is mostly business types during the week - shocking I know! But there were a few locals enjoying a drink or two. The room was very clean and the bathroom was huge - even sported another TV. Downside was that I checked three floors for a working ice machine (2,3,4) and didn't find one. Definitely a nice(er) hotel for a one night stay. And the price was competitive.

This hotel is great. The room was very comfortable with a lot of character. The bed was very comfortable and the shower in the bathroom were very big. The TV was a little small but that was no problem for me. Location is great right on Main Street. There are a lot of great restaurants nearby as well as the University. I guess the only downside is that you have to pay for parking in the garage it was $12 a day. Make sure you pay for parking with the hotel and not the garage itself.

The staff is mostly friendly and helpful, but seems understaffed sometimes. The room was very clean and well appointed. The elevators and stairs were super dirty. The rooftop bar was a complete disappointment- they had exactly one menu, the bartender was friendly but not especially helpful, and managed to make one of the worst drinks I've ever tasted.

Very clean and well decorated. I love that a lot of the elements are from the original building and that they incorporated it's history as a bank in the design. The tub is amazing it has jets.

It was a great atmosphere, & a great drink menu. The service however lacked in the respect that I waited for good while watching the gentleman checking his text messages. Then I had to approach him to get a drink. When your bar is hopping...that should be the last thing one your mind.

I rarely use the hotel for overnighting, but the beds are incredibly comfortable whenever I need a place to crash. The rooftop bar is open-air, and in South Carolina that gives you all year to enjoy the view. The Vault bar (a repurposed bank vault in the lobby) usually has a dedicated mixologist to whip up specialty cocktails, and the Starbucks downstairs is a great place to fuel up throughout the day while I'm working up and down Main street. There's even a fine-dining area on the second floor, although it's a bit understaffed. Stop by and see for yourself, but I'd recommend the Sheraton for just about any social function.
