Beautiful secluded spot overlooking Sand Key! Private beach with rentals of jetskis and paddleboards. Pool deck is spacious and very clean and the towel attendant had such a sense of humor! Tommy the bartender was very friendly and gave us all kinds of information about where to eat! The terrace room was perfect! Large walkin shower, mini fridge and microwave, and a very spacious terrace overlooking everything..especially the stage where there was a live band everyday!

Great location, but the music was so loud outside that the walls were vibrating until 11-12 on a Sunday night. Parking and valet was a total nightmare on this day. Food at the buffet for $32 kind of expected more.
The room is very clean and modern. Most of the rooms have a great view of the water. The location of the resort is walking distance from many restaurants, the beach, and other activities
I had never heard of this resort and was immediately amazed by the great service and the amount and quality of the entertainment that was provided along with very clean rooms. The drinks and food available was a little price but was to be expected based on the overall amenities being provided so no big deal. My issues lie with the fact we had to deal with obnoxious guests with no respect for other sleeping guests for close to 2 hours starting at 2 am on a Sunday. I absolutely understand that the Hotel did not create this problem and it ultimately was the inconsiderate guests but, we called the desk and complained multiple times asking for help. These guests were not only having their after party in the hallway but were also banging on our door trying to get us to open up and let them in. They sent Security up multiple times but nothing was actually being done to mitigate the issue. It was absolutely impossible to sleep until after 4 am. I am a very chill person and although extremely aggravated I told my wife I would never mention it again if they at least apologized when we checked out in the morning. The only reason I am giving them a review is because not only did I receive no apology, I was not even asked if I enjoyed my stay (an opportunity to share my thoughts) upon checking out. Again, I did enjoy everything about our experience other than the way our final night was handled.
It was 10:30 pm and there was a very loud rave outside. We got evicted out of our room (17/18 year olds with a parent in each room) and had no where to go because of a noise complaint which they did not give us a single warning beforehand. We got accused of underage drinking when no one inspected our room or breathalyzed anyone. Leaving us on the street at midnight a thousand miles from home with our luggage and no where to go. Not a recomended spring break hotel!! The manager, Nick, was not professional and was screaming in parents faces threatening to have them arrested for a noise complaint .
Haven't been here in a very long time...a lot has changed, in a good way!! Love the outside bar. Drinks were more expensive outside, in comparison to ordering from inside (Wave Nightclub) The good thing about this was that they happened to be heavier on the liqour pour outside...which definitely made up for the price. Ten bucks cover to get into The Wave is fair, tip the door girl!!! We lucked out & didn't have to pay cover - all about who yah know! Security placed through out entire hotel/restaurant/club to ensure safety & to maintain control of all the people/drunks... We lucked out here too, by having a security guard working directly next to the table we hung out at. He definitely looked out for us & made sure we stayed safe!... Not gonna lie, alot of weirdos.. DRUNK weirdos. All & all had a really fun night! Hated the next day though
First everyone must understand this is a party resort. Especially during spring break. This resort is open to public for the live music every night of the week. They do have a cover charge for outsiders. But everyone from locals to people from other hotels up and down the beach comes here for the music and party atmosphere. So it can get crowded. If you stay here and get a gulf view room it will be loud in your room. So don't plan to sleep until the music ends. Which is usually 2 or 3am on the weekends and 12 to 1am on weekdays. Trust me I found out the hard way. The pool is nice although it can get crowded with kids early in the year when the water temperature in the gulf is still cool. The food and drink service out by the kiki bar and pool is pretty good and Mike the bartender is awesome. The reasons I gave it only 3 stars 1. The music was way to loud you couldn't even hold a conversation if you were outside at the bar with out yelling. 2. The 2 bartenders at the tequila bar were horrible. My wife and I sat for nearly 15 minutes without being served. They were to busy socializing with their friends at both ends of the bar. We got up and walked away with out being served. Went out to the Tiki bar where we got served by Mike. 3. The ocean flame is over priced for what you get, And the servers for breakfast have very little service skills. Shouldn't have to remind them numerous times that we needed water and coffee, never came around to ask to refills. Better off going down the street to IHOP 4. The beach area is small and they charge you for the use of everything on it. $20 for a beach chair $25 for a beach umbrella for all day. Not sure what the $140 resort charge covered but it wasn't much. 5. When checking out they tried to charge me for the 2 , $4.50 waters they leave in your room. My wife and I saw the price of the water when checking in and never touched them. We went across the street to speedway and got bottled water for half that price. The women at the desk gave me attitude telling me the room cleaning staff reported we drank the waters. I read about this on other reviews as well. Their is definitely some kinda scam going on with that. Even though it is a nice place I will not stay at Shepherd's on my next trip to Clearwater beach.
Decent service. Will nickel and dime you for little things that considering the price shouldn't be an issue. Great view. The food and drinks are cheap but you get what you pay for. decent sized pool for the kids and soft sand for the beach.
I had been coming to Shepherds for about the last 8 years, it s always been great and this has always been a vacation spot for my family and I. Finally I had become of age and I m able to drink, and for the past 2 weeks while I had stayed in Clearwater I ve been going there for lunch, dinner, randomly while bar hopping etc. and yesterday more specifically I spent the whole day there. I am now going to be a of secondary residence as we bought some property down in Clearwater and I ll be traveling down here a lot and Shepherds is always a place I ve wanted to go enjoy for the night life. Yesterday specifically I sat at Shepherds for a good portion of the day, and then came early around 6:30 to get a seat so when the live band played I had a good spot, everything was going great and the live band had just started, I went up to the bar from my seat to go order a beer for myself and a water for my girlfriend who isn t of age - the head of security somehow got ahold of my ID and questioned its authenticity saying he s going to take it away, call the cops ECT. Now I am in no place to disrespect anybody but I told the man he can call the police because they would come and look me up and be able to tell that my ID is, in fact my ID would you believe that?? Wow. He said no and told the bouncers under him to kick me out as my girlfriend whom had been waiting for her water, in the dark, with no clue of this area and no phone (because we were staying at a different hotel, and she left the stuff there) and I said dude no, I just ordered food from our server and my girlfriend is sitting over there with no idea of what even just happened, I walked away. I understand the idea of kicking out a belligerent drunk but to question the authenticity of my identification, as a HEAD security guy, he s going to have to do something else to figure that out: my family owns 2 sports bars that I run and I know how to properly tell the difference between a fake ID and real ID because it s not too hard. I simply disobeyed his orders and ran to my girlfriend and told her we needed to go, to which the other 2 bouncers followed me and did their job which they were told to kick me out, but when I got to the table I told the guys hey man, I need to frickin tab out if you re making me leave too?? Like this isn t just supposed to be an unprofessional show down between I and the people working, which they said let me check with the boss . Like I wasn t belligerent i wasn t stumbling it was solely because they thought that my real identification is fake, I m 22 years old with a lot of money and like I said I ll be traveling down to Clearwater every 4-6 weeks now and I hope that I don t have any issues going back to Shepherds.. I ve drank everywhere since I ve turned 22 in March of 2019 and I ve never even considered using my real ID as a problem.. I was scared he was going to rip it up and I wasn t going to be able to get on my flight Monday, I had to beg him for it back. Hope things can be fixed and he can go through some more extensive training.
I definitely recommend the Sheppard to anyone visiting Clearwater who doesn't want to want to go out or walk a lot. It has a bunch of restaurants and bars, a nightclub, live entertainment during the day and night, gift shops, pool area and beach right at the front. There's some other places to eat and some gift shops near the resort as well. For all the services available, the price is definitely worth it. The staff was very friendly from the moment we arrived. Valet service is complimentary and cars are parked in a parking garage so your car will be cool when you want to take it out during the day. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the bar closest to the water ski rental shop absolutely sucked. We sat at a table near some people that already had drinks and food but we had to ask for service twice and get menus ourselves which was ridiculous. The server just kept talking to the bartender as if she had nothing to do. If you want good service, go to the bar closest to the stage, there's a tequila bar right next to it too. The bar by the pool side also has really good frozen drinks. I would recommend the lava flow or blue (something) lemonade. Overall, I had a really good experience here.
It was decent. It was my first time eating there. I expected a little more being a resort. It was just a little bit of everything. Please know that parking is free for the first 90 minutes. $3 per hrs after. Resort Fee and 18% gratuities are added automatically. Enjoy
This place charges way too much for the quality that it is. It's nothing more than a place to rest your head as long as you have ear plugs. Oh yeah check your balance before checking out! They do like to add on extras!!!
Here's a tip: You save $60-$100 immediately if you plan on doing any of Shepherds nightlife activities or amenities. Each hotel guest gets a wristband, a $20-$40 value per person. Valet parking is free another $20-$40 value per vehicle. When comparing other hotels around Shepherds this is a hidden value that most people easily overlook. Also book the beach view, it's worth it. IF YOU LIKE QUIET, this is not the place for you and your kids.
A return trip this time. We stayed in a queen studio with a kitchennette. Linens were clean and kitchenette was great, especially with the kids. One thing we didn't like was the constant reminder they are non smoking. Yes I get it I dont smoke. The resort kept putting notes under our door reminding us of this, no other messages only this. Um I dont smoke and I'm here in a room with 2 kids. They made us feel like we were in trouble and threatened to make us pay a $500 fine. Music was average, nightly. The floors in our room upon arrival were gross. I get we are at the beach but did the vacuum break we are on the 5th floor? Also they cleaned the carpets with a carpet scrubber outside our room for days. We stayed 5 nights and heard these huge blowers constantly from them drying the carpet. We had breakfast at the buffet a couple mornings. Good food but depending on the waitress they might add 18 percent gratuity for no reason to your bill. Very inconsistent. I'm sorry but I want to choose to tip you $10 to bring me orange juice and the bill since I served myself thanks. Not sure we will be back.
It is a Hotel with a view of evil and an exceptional place with live music and a swimming pool very close to the sea with 2 bars where you have a very good service
Service at Ocean Flame was awful. All different servers came to our table. Only 1 introduced themself. One guy came while we were eating and changed a card with specials on it and acted like we didn't exist. Staff was awkward and appeared to be on drugs or alcohol. Food was sub par for $40 a person. Usually have good experiences at Shephard's, but haven't been in over a year and a half. A lot has changed. Wouldn't spend my money on the restaurant again. Tiki bar is fun, but service there was just as bad. I think they hire people who can't get jobs anywhere else, no GOOD experience required for Shephard's everybody.
Stayed a couple of months ago for a wedding, hotel was fine but they have a manger there named Nick who should be fired, very agro, has no idea how to calm a situation down(mind you the person he was screaming at was my mother who was upset with the hotels poor explanation as to why they charged her card but had no room for us), which looking at the reviews involving him seems to be a trend. Wasn t going to say anything originally but the trip was brought up recently and I decided to check his reviews out. Wouldn t ever go back
Shepard's! Let me tell you about Labor Day Weekend 2019 This was one of the best times @ Shephard's having several friends from around the world meet for the weekend. We were able to enjoy the beach, pool, music, DJ and plenty of drinks from the bar. There were so many people and the crowd was heavy in the evening into the night. I mean it was so many diverse and beautiful people who were having a great time. You will meet someone of interest and have a good time dancing to the band along with the DJ. I met people who came early to beat the crowds and ended up being there from sun up to sun down. This was my second trip on Labor Day @ Shepard's and it was one of the best. We normally meet during the 4th of July time frame. It' looks like we will start coming 2-3X a year now!
First time back after the remodel. Food was pretty good, could use a little more of something, not sure what. Is awesome that they still valet and validate with meal
My family and I had an amazing time at this beach resort. The pool was so much fun. They played great music and the drinks were on point. I definitely recommend this place to stay at for anyone looking to have a good time!
Beautiful place. Had a great time. However front desk had trouble finding me reservation which was a lil embarassing. And bar tenders were very rude. Tipped them really good so they can remember me
Check in was a tad slow, but very polite. Room was as advertised. Clean with a spacious balcony affording me of a great view. An inexpensive ride to downtown Clearwater, just a few minutes from a beautiful state park and plenty of places to eat all within minutes of the hotel. Tiki bars galore, spacious lounging areas, beautiful pool, good food, live entertainment all day and into the night. DJ was a bit loud at 2 a.m.. The comfortable room, earbuds and a book conquered the noise. Bring the family, fly solo, there something for everybody at Shephard's Inn Beach Resort
This hotel is amazing. Best customer service ever! The night manager Yesterday was wonderful. I love the location and the entertainment is awesome. I am spending my birthday with my best friend next weekend Cuz it's always fun there. Love the drink specials too. Highly recommend
