I had been coming to Shepherds for about the last 8 years, it s always been great and this has always been a vacation spot for my family and I. Finally I had become of age and I m able to drink, and for the past 2 weeks while I had stayed in Clearwater I ve been going there for lunch, dinner, randomly while bar hopping etc. and yesterday more specifically I spent the whole day there. I am now going to be a of secondary residence as we bought some property down in Clearwater and I ll be traveling down here a lot and Shepherds is always a place I ve wanted to go enjoy for the night life. Yesterday specifically I sat at Shepherds for a good portion of the day, and then came early around 6:30 to get a seat so when the live band played I had a good spot, everything was going great and the live band had just started, I went up to the bar from my seat to go order a beer for myself and a water for my girlfriend who isn t of age - the head of security somehow got ahold of my ID and questioned its authenticity saying he s going to take it away, call the cops ECT. Now I am in no place to disrespect anybody but I told the man he can call the police because they would come and look me up and be able to tell that my ID is, in fact my ID would you believe that?? Wow. He said no and told the bouncers under him to kick me out as my girlfriend whom had been waiting for her water, in the dark, with no clue of this area and no phone (because we were staying at a different hotel, and she left the stuff there) and I said dude no, I just ordered food from our server and my girlfriend is sitting over there with no idea of what even just happened, I walked away. I understand the idea of kicking out a belligerent drunk but to question the authenticity of my identification, as a HEAD security guy, he s going to have to do something else to figure that out: my family owns 2 sports bars that I run and I know how to properly tell the difference between a fake ID and real ID because it s not too hard. I simply disobeyed his orders and ran to my girlfriend and told her we needed to go, to which the other 2 bouncers followed me and did their job which they were told to kick me out, but when I got to the table I told the guys hey man, I need to frickin tab out if you re making me leave too?? Like this isn t just supposed to be an unprofessional show down between I and the people working, which they said let me check with the boss . Like I wasn t belligerent i wasn t stumbling it was solely because they thought that my real identification is fake, I m 22 years old with a lot of money and like I said I ll be traveling down to Clearwater every 4-6 weeks now and I hope that I don t have any issues going back to Shepherds.. I ve drank everywhere since I ve turned 22 in March of 2019 and I ve never even considered using my real ID as a problem.. I was scared he was going to rip it up and I wasn t going to be able to get on my flight Monday, I had to beg him for it back. Hope things can be fixed and he can go through some more extensive training.
