I've loved this excellent seafood-heavy buffet for more than 3 decades. Nice view of the Clearwater channel and Gulf.

This was the first time I have been to Shrphard's in years. The life music outside was phenomenal and had a good blend of 80's, 90's and current music. Drink prices in the club were good; however, the shot prices outside were a bit steep esp since they were weak. All in all, it was we had a good time and we will likely be back in the near future.
This is a party hotel! This hotel you probably shouldn't bring your kids.
Looked like a nice place until our ocean view turned into a live band veiw playing all hours of the evening and night we called the front desk to change rooms because we weren't able to get any relaxing time or sleep they said they had rooms available but we were on able to move because we booked through Expedia! They are not very accommodating to their guests we checked out the next day and relocated to the Trade Winds where we had been before and they are way more commentating to their guests won't be back.
Nice relax in the day, great entertainment at night.
Amazing! Cheap valet parking. Awesome waterfront dining with live music and best waiter ever! Can't wait to go back!!
Awful and racist staff. Made reservations for an outside table before Thanksgiving for 4 at 8pm. Were not sat until 8:30. After sitting for about :30, were told the kitchen was closing soon. Family is biracial. My mom and sister are creole/Swiss. They both approached the hostess for the table. Wasn't until I (the white one on the family) approached her that we were sat immediately after having waited 20 minutes for their pathetic bartender to make 4 drinks. Racist establishment. Never going again.
I am beyond impressed with Shepard s Resort. We were here two weeks ago for my wedding and upon arrival we were early. They heard that we were getting married in Clearwater while we were there and moved us up to the top floor into a king suite with no extra cost. On top of that, we had planned on eating at a restaurant in Clearwater after the ceremony. After having reservations there for 6 months they declined our party at last minute. My mom called Shepard s last minute and they totally saved the day. She explained to the manager what was going on and he said he would take care of it. When we got back to Shepard s, the manager had opened up a section in their restaurant just for our party. The food and drinks were always excellent. They took very good care of us and our family while we were there and I can t thank them enough for saving our big day. The staff is very professional, rooms are great and they have done a great job keeping everything clean during COVID. Will definitely be back and recommend to everyone.
This place blew my mind. Absolutely amazing. Was worried it may be a catfish hotel from the pictures but it's stunning! The best hotel on the strip
I really enjoyed the beach chair setup. $30 bucks for all day shade and comfortable lounge chairs. It was a nice little private strip of beach. Quiet and clean.
Either I missed it on the website, or it wasn't posted, but we were unable to bring outside food and drinks onto the beach because they have their own bar and restaurant. That was the only thing I didn't like.
The all you can eat buffet is very good. We'll worth the price. Nice atmosphere and very attentive service.
Met a bartender, who commented on my 75 shirt.. she was Awesome.. completed my whole stay, overall great group of employees, this place is a Clearwater relic.. lots of new spots on the strip, but I was very happy with my choice for this trip!!
This place was the bum first time there and loved it and will return
The service Sucked . I mean I would say some bleeps blots about it but I will keep it clean. Hernando was our server and we sat for 25 minutes not even a glance while he checked everyone around our table . My wife had to chase him down and even then we got the Pink eye . Really .... The music and sunset made the evening not the food and sure in the hell not the Server....
Horrible experience. I have been here multiple times and the last time will be my last. I know the target demo is a very young (borderline illegal) crowd but to start off the music was so loud you could not talk. We were not there at night when that might make sense it was a Sunday afternoon. They charged us a cover charge of $6 just to come in to eat. The food was not very good plus they have do not have a single thing in the menu that is healthy. I was told by the server that this is beach fare so that means no healthy food. Like everyone in a bathing suit wants something heavy to eat. I mean come on you are on the beach not even a single salad or fish dish that is healthy. When the server brought our bill my brothers bill was $23 however when she brought the charge slip back somehow it had transformed into a $33 charge. No explanation from the server. We called her back over. She explained that she has made a mistake on the original bill and that it should have been $33 all along. We asked to speak to a manager. Nobody showed up. Bad food. Bad ambience. Bad service. I will not be back and I will let every single person that i know in the area(since I live here) know about this terrible experience. Really bad job guys!! Way to ruin a beautiful Sunday afternoon.
Great atmosphere. Had some decent specials and the food was reasonably priced.
Just went to the restaurant and bar. Nice place, decent prices, friendly staff.
Clearwater Beach is a nice place for that day away trip. The hotel has a great location, on the beach and is within walking distance of so many activities. Rooms are very comfortable and staff friendly.
Beautiful place with awesome bands. Fantastic atmosphere ill be back
Unfriendly staff, hot tub had yellow water & mostly kids in it, not relaxing.
Title: BEWARE OF HOUSEKEEPING. Just a quick note to anyone visiting Shephard's in the near future. Check your credit card information a week after you leave! A friend of mine told me that he had been incorrectly charged on his card when he stayed there earlier this year. He advised me to check mine. I did. Guess what... I had an unauthorized $9 charge on my card. I just called the hotel to find out why. They say that I drank two bottles of Fiji water that was in the room. Totally false! My wife & I did see the bottles when we first entered the hotel because I remember us laughing at the $4.50 pricetag on them :-D We went to the store across the street from the hotel in front of IHOP for our snacks; including water :) So.. who drank the water!? Hmm... Long story short... It's more about the principle. Don't allow YOUR employees to do wrong & blame it on the guests. This is bad business & I'm exposing it! The associate on the phone said they would reverse the charge. I will update soon to let you guys know if they made things right. We stayed in 618 last Thursday night.
It's a nice hotel IF you don't really need to sleep. Our room faced the beach, therefore we had to endure the nightclub music until 2:00. We purchased ear plugs after 2nd day but they weren't comfortable. Sometimes the table in our room was actually vibrating!
Great music, food and bars. Sun and sand on Easter!
Everything you need is there, live entertainment was great
Probably one of the most well-known places on the Clearwater Beach strip, Ocean Flame at Shephard's Beach Resort is pretty good. Figured I would at least share a photo from my outdoor seating at the restaurant. The service (on Easter, may I add) was quick, and the food options were pretty good for a buffet. I will say, some of the staff such as the carver may have been having a bad day and didn't come off as nice as my server and hostess, but I won't hold that against them. Lastly, quick shout out to Susan for being so pleasant and taking great care of us. I would definitely go back.
Great to go and have fun after a long week of work!
Went to the nightclub. Very beach sheek, fun music and atmosphere.
In my 4 day experience at Shepards beach and resort in Clearwater, Florida I had an excellent time, I ate delicious seafood, rode jetskis, and had an awful experience with the staff at this resort. The bartenders are excluded from this review as they were fantastic, Alana, out of all of them was by far one of the best bartenders I have ever had. However, the staff that maintains the front desk and housekeeping are horrid and rude. We checked out of our room at 10:04 and got on the rode back to Georgia when around 1:45 I realized I had left one of my favorite and rather pricey dresses. I called the front desk and told them the situation where it seemed that they just really didn't feel like utilizing their staff and resources at all. The lady placed me on hold for over 15 minutes where she was waiting on her housekeeping to check for the dress, which I knew was in the room simply because I only wore it for the 2 hours that we left to go eat on our last night. Once we got home, the dress was left near the dresser, on the floor. After I was told that no one had found the dress, we asked to speak to the property manager who first got a snotty attitude when we gave her the only 2 options that there was. Either the dress was taken from the room by housekeeping or nobody really looked for it. After being put on hold once again for another 10 minutes the manager, Cody, came down and told me that she had found the dress and that housekeeping was only told to look under the bed. So, moral of the rant is, stay at this "resort" all you like, have a great time, soak up the sun, but by no means leave anything at the hotel and expect for the staff the be at all cooperative when you call back asking for it.
Didn't go to the resort but the restaurant inside. The food was delicious.
Hotel bar was super nice, had a live band playing some good Rock music, drinks not too steep in price and great ambiance.
Okay this is a hard one for me. I absolutely love the atmosphere here and the staff are fun and friendly. Two bits though. The fish tacos were awful. The fish tasted bad I mean really bad, we sent them back and we had 4 drinks (2 each) and it cost us $67 so the outside bar food or at least the fish tacos are a no go and it will get expensive if you plan on spending a evening with friends having drinks. You can't beat the atmosphere though outside on their deck with either a DJ or live band. I will still go and still spend money.
Stopped in for the buffet. All the food was good. Lots of tasty desserts. Service was also good. Would go back.
Services were horriable it took them 45 min to bring us silverware and napkins alone...and about an hour to bring us drinks...it was a buffet only $39.99 per person all meats were over cooked and dried out..Food was Ice cold...would NEVER GO BACK THERE!!!!
The Ocean Flame Restaurant inside Shephards Resort is amazing. The food selection has something for everyone and the homemade desserts are the best. The service and view are equally impressive. We have been here several times and will most definitely be back.
Shephard's is one of my regular Saturday night hangouts. I can't speak to the rooms or restaurant, but several friends, my wife and I often take a cab here (parking anywhere within half a mile sucks, valet is usually full by the time we get there too) and love having good live music, fast bar service, convenient night time access to beach and ending the night at the night club.
There is QUITE a variety of people that come here, likely simply because it is a hotel. I dig that though, but if you're not the going out type you might not have as much fun. Luckily there's lots of space, so if you're there with a few people you can find your own corner of the world and tune out people that are bothersome to ya.
Yes it gets loud. I'm sure if I were older, vacationing, and getting a room expecting to turn in, put on the nightmask and tip back a warm brandy at 11PM, then I'd probably be as annoyed as some of the other posters here. If you're looking for a good weekend night spot with variety (indoor, outdoor) and a spot to get ridiculous with your friends, I personally think Shephard's is hard to beat.
Had a good time with friends, the drinks are a little pricey, but not bad for being Clearwater Beach.
Super view
Very good cocktails and appetizers
Beautiful, clean, lively resort that lives up to its name of entertainment! Huge pool that could be deeper at one end. 4 outdoor bars for convenience of little to no wait which has awesome bartenders each with their own likeable personality and a nice heavy pour for the price. Great music choices from morning to live singer in afternoon to full live band that jams every night starting at 8pm to after 1am
Good food, service was only far. Our server seemed overwhelmed .
Service was great, extremely friendly as well as attractive!
Omg love the Sunday brunch and the staff is awesome.
Excellent food, absolutely zero complaints. This place is legendary for a reason.
I had good service. But the food was a triple zero tonight. People highly recommended,. Food didn't live to the hype. I would probably never go back there
Good drinks, food and entertainment. Service is hit or miss. Shepherd's location is in a great spot.
Nice view and service but the fact that I cannot sit by the pool and drink water from my own bottle or a speedway freeze considering I am under the age of 21 is ridiculous. You have to buy and drink their drinks and water that are insanely priced. The security will tell you that you can t drink something. It s quite annoying to be paying all this money and then have to pay for food and drinks while on resort property. If you want water you must drink it from their cups. Feel like I can t even relax because there are so many rules to this place.
Great relaxing place. The only problem was not able to turn the A/C under 74 degree.
Besides that, the view & bar are great.
Friendly and nice staff. Clean and fun environment. Good food and drinks. You have to order food to order a drink.
Our favorite resort in Clearwater. This is our 4th time here and there has been several changes. Prices are higher on rooms and buffet. Staff is not as friendly as usual. Seems the friendliest and more welcoming staff has left.
Shepherd's is my number one place to go on Clearwater Beach fantastic outdoor Tiki Bar overlooking the Gulf
Great pool with inlet view, cannot see sunrise or sunset from my poolside balcony room. Only friendly staff (to me) was the pool side waitress and waiter. When they advertise 'Entertainment', they mean 'PARTY' and Loud music. If you want to hear the sound of water and seagulls, you don't want to stay here. If you want to party like a rock star it might be for you.
Great club for drinks and food. Amazing atmosphere near the ocean.
This place is a joke when I come to the people they hire. The manager Chris for the tiki bar does not know how to deal with customers. I have been coming to shepherds years before he worked there. I will not be back because of him. I would have guest list for 10-20 people every beach house Sunday. I will not be bringing over 150 new people from out of town there next year. I will not come back until things change I will take my quest to st Pete beach instead. Higher management really needs to take a look and see what s going on in there establishment
