Great resort. Pool and Beach access was great. Plenty of drinks and food available at the bar outside. Room was nice. I would stay here again. My only complaint is that the breakfast at the restaurant was not really that great. Other than that the resort was nice.

Worst customer service I have ever encountered. We arrived very early, knowing check in was not until 3. However, we valet parked our car and checked in at the front desk. Chase was very nice. He of course said no rooms were available yet, but they were cleaning ours. We went to the bar and Shannon took great care of us. I was supposed to receive a call or text when the room was ready. About 12 we started checking with the front desk. At 1 the bartender checked with the front desk. At 2 and 3 we checked with the front desk. The bartender checked at 330 with the front desk. No luck. Finally at 415 I checked and after waiting in line forever, the girl at the front desk said, oh it looks like your room is ready. I went to Valet to try to get the luggage Erick "the manager of valet" said that would be impossible as they were too busy. I told him we had dinner reservations at 530 and that was simply not acceptable. After I left he apparently got someone to take the luggage up as I went to the front desk to get help with retrieving the luggage. My wife said someone came up with the luggage and basically made a snide comment and turned around and left. The room itself was clean, but they must have hurried up there to clean it after we checked in at 415 because housekeeping left the door locked open like they do when they are cleaning hotel rooms so they don't have to use their keycard to get in and out. I asked the front if I could speak to a manager. This is where THE WORST part started. After the front desk told me the manager was in a meeting and unavailable, I watched the "manager" I got to talk to walk in and out and around the resort. He was NOT in a meeting. I told him about the miserable experience. I asked him if he even cared what his reviews were. He went BALLISTIC. He said "Are you threatening a bad review? I am going to ask you to leave the property right now. I will be calling the police to have you removed." I did not raise my voice, I did not use any poor language. I was literally in shock! By the way this is our Anniversary and the only description I have for this guy is that he was a very unprofessional, a complete jerk and very poor reflection on the property. He went and retrieved a nicer manager, I think her name was Valerie who was his boss who echoed what he said in that she said "I have been talking to Nick and we would like you to leave the property". At that point she could see I was in no way a threat or hostile and she shoo'd Nick away. She listened to the story, completely retracted the request to leave and refunded the resort fee. Honestly the entire room should have been complimentary at that point after Nick's behavior. Later at the Tiki bar we found it interesting that the bartenders there rolled their eyes. Apparently everyone there has no respect for Nick and knows how he treats guests and employees. Interesting too, both managers stated 3pm was a recommended check in time, but not guaranteed. I had to point out to them that it is on their FAQ site that check in is guaranteed at 3 (and remember they said they called me at 310) and it is also on the card they give out with the keys. I suspect if you check out "past" the 11am check out, you will be charged and they will state that 11am checkout is guaranteed. Other than Nick, this resort is really awesome. The bottom line is that no negative reviews will be tolerated or you will be asked to leave the property. Please note, I am a profession, over 50. I have never had to leave a review like this or be threatened. Had my wife observed this encounter with Nick, we likely would have left the property or called the police ourselves because of feeling unsafe.

I was married last night. My bride and I decided to stay the night of our wedding at Shepard s. After our reception we met friends for our after party at the hotel and enjoyed a few of their outlets and our room was great.

As we were check out this morning I decided it would be fun to extend our stay for another night. Our front desk clerk explained to us that we would have to wait to get checked back in. Understandable, we checked our bags with valet and off to lunch we go.

After a couple hours we make our way back to Shepard s. The front desk clerk explains to us there are no suites or king rooms available as we had been lead to believe earlier. Totally cool, so we accept the room we stayed in the previous night as our only option. We get our keys and head upstairs. We then walk into our room and there aren t even sheets on the bed. Again, understandable, but within a minute, without knocking, a maid barges into our room and says, you don t belong here. This is just moments after we had paid hundreds of dollars for that space.

In a moment of understandable frustration I told her that she should check with her manager. After closing the door to my room I picked up the phone and called the front desk. The gentleman on the other end of the phone told me to come back downstairs offered to make the situation better with an upgrade as compensation.

I take the elevator back downstairs and again explain the situation to the front desk clerk. At this point, what I can only assume is a manger comes out of the office behind the front desk, her name was Cody.

I begin explaining to Cody the preceding events. Without a single attempt to understand or empathize She was quick to tell me that she had made the decision that I had to leave property.and if I didn t she was going to call the police. Really, that s how it went down!! Whoa, ok.

Flabbergasted, I head back to my room and am forced to tell my bride to gather her dress and other belongings because we are being kicked out.

If you are accustomed to any level of hospitality this is not the place for you. Management should be ashamed of themselves. It truly ruined the first day of our honeymoon and I would never send a friend here.

Awesome place . Took the wife there for her birthday and everything was amazing. Perfect room with a picture perfect view. The food at the tiki deck was on point and the drinks were made with love. We enjoyed the pool by day and partied to the DJ from our private terrace. We hated leaving and as we drove away the wife is trying to free up another weekend. Great place good people. We will definitely be back.

My husband and I got married at Shephards, it was amazingly beautiful, the staff and DJ were so friendly, courteous, and completely catered to our every need. The room was beautiful and clean, room service was prompt and friendly. Over all it was amazing and I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great wedding venue on the beach to come here!

Shepherds has great venue for live music out at their Tiki bar. The crowd during the week is pretty diverse with patrons from a wide range of age groups.

During spring break and holiday weekends expect a large crowd of uninhibited college age party goers.

During much of the busy season they charge $10 to valet park but there is street parking behind the gas station across the street. The lack of side walks from the beach all the way to the resort makes it tricky to get there on foot.

The food is typical bar food with my personal favorite being the buffalo shrimp. The price of food and drinks are reasonable but happy hour usually ends well before the always amazing sunset.

Be sure to look out for the pirate ship making it's way across the horizon which makes for a great photo op.

My family's stay at this resort was ok, the problem was the valet parking situation that we had no control over. They parked my vehicle under a leaking pipe and the fluid did damage to my hood. After several attempts of talking to the valet company they handed me off to the resort. Several emails and phone calls to manager Paul Andrew's went unanswered. Very frustrating that they just ignored me and dont wanna make it right. Won't return here for that reason.

Great seafood buffet!! My family and I really enjoyed it a lot. They had a great selection of all sorts of seafood and other things to eat!! The desserts were very good here too. It's pricey but worth it. The wait to get in was pretty long too.

I always enjoy going to shephards especially for the breakfast brunch, but today's holiday buffet was below mediocre. A lot of their food items were stale had no flavor, I was very disappointed, especially after paying almost $50 per person. I guess I shall continue sticking to the Sunday brunches.

This place is no where near amazing! The beach is lacking.. they allow jet skis to park darn near on the sand where you would lay to tan. The restaurant buffet was disgusting, food is not fresh at all. Way over priced for the quality.. $46+ with all you can eat crab legs. Do not waste your money. The crab legs are cold, luke warm at best. They don't allow strollers in their resturant. I would not go back here. Go to Cooters if you want all you can eat crab. Crabs are bigger and hot when they come out.

Resort was updated, very clean, and very cautious. Staff was all excellent and the food and drinks were also great as well! There is live bands and music for nightly entertainment, beach access with amenities to rent for fun as well. Overall amazing experience, will definitely go again!

I've stayed here at least 10 times in the last 6 months frequenting the sunday night concerts. I always stay the night and usually attend with my girlfriend and maybe another friend or two. Usually, everything is excellent and we never have any issues whatsoever. This last Sunday, however, I was pretty annoyed with the way were treated this time around. After the concert, myself and 3 others staying at the hotel headed to the concert. We were IDed at the door as usual (I'm 30 as was everyone else in my group but it is expected at any club).

After heading in, I went to order drinks at the bar. I was asked to show my wrist band and the other 3 bands as well. We did so. Now when you stay at the hotel, there is no cover for the concert and you DO NOT get a club wrist band as you have the plastic wrist band from the hotel stay. I was informed it was the wrong wristband and we needed to show ID to order drinks. Ok, no problem, started a tab and we are on our way. About 10 minutes later while standing at a table outside, a security guard that had been flashing his lights here and there checking on things flashes at my hand and then says I need to show my ID because I don't have a wristband...ummm ok. We all provide our ID for the 3RD TIME tonight at a club that requires you to be 21 to get in. I ask the security guard if we can also get the wrist bands that people not staying at the hotel get so we stop getting interrupted to show ID. He ignores me and walks off. Sweet man, you're awesome. About 30 minutes from that moment, a different security guard does exactly the same thing, this time while we were standing near the bar inside. We oblige and I then ask him while we are continuously getting IDed and if we can just get the other wristbands. He was nice about it and said he was just doing his job but if you are staying at the hotel you only wear your hotel band and not the club band. Yeah, I get it but I've been IDed 4 times total now and again, I'm 30 and would pass for 40 easily, it is getting very annoying.

Enter the final time I get IDed. It was the first security guard that had ALREADY IDed us. He flashed his light our way a couple times, honed in on my red wrist band for the hotel, not having a white paper club one. Asks for my ID again. I point out he and 3 other people have IDed all of us tonight and I would really like a paper wristband so this stops. He says that's not how it works and to show my ID or leave the club. I don't know why this particular guy was in such a bad mood, but now I've had enough. We provide our ID the 5th and final time, close out our tabs, then walk out to a nearby bar determined we won't be attending the club again.

After the bar closed, we walk back over to the hotel. It's about 3:15am at this point. Walking up to the front lobby doors, they don't open. We stand there for a few minutes but no one is inside the lobby. I thought it was pretty weird but we can go around the poolside to get in. Also locked. I understand the pool area being locked but I have never stayed at a hotel (including this one) where they lock their front doors. We go back to the front door and knock, eventually someone came from the back and opened the door for us. I didn't say anything and we just went up to the elevator to our room and called it a night.

I understand underage kids try and get into clubs. I understand the hotel can be responsible for these things. I don't understand treating a constant patron that is actually staying at the hotel like a high school kid through out the night. If I ever wanted to go back, just give me the stupid club paper wrist band and leave me alone afterwards. It won't be a problem though, I won't be returning.

My only major complaint: the needless security is the reason Shephard's loses a star. They hover like Russian Secret Service and served up more than a few awkward moments in our 3 days. We didnt get kicked out but the looming presence was a turnoff. Security at other resorts just seem more hidden and customer-service oriented.

Now the good! The remodel looks amazing! Its such a noteworthy change; truly admirable! The rooms, restaurants, pool, clubs, beach, bars and more were great. Buffets were awesome and the beach was in great shape. Todd is a great bartender!

So besides the security and risk management, you guys created a solid experience for our group that I'll never forget! :)

Actually can be a pretty fun place. I haven't stayed at the hotel but have been here many times for the club and for shows. Depending on the time of year and day it can be either very good or empty and bad. Summer is great and Sundays in general are the time you want to be here. Especially since most places are very bad on Sundays.

The hotel is very clean, the staff is friendly and it's a definite party atmosphere. They have live music until 2 AM every night. You hear it until 2 AM so if you are looking for a place to get a restful sleep, you should look elsewhere. The food is good, the drinks are good. If you have a large party and have a bar tab that runs over $250, make sure you get a pool side cabana, they are free if you spend that much on alcoholic beverages...

Cindee at the front desk was amazing! I m not young and she knew to give me a room away from the noise. She was extremely aware of the customer in front of her. You don t always get such attentiveness from a front desk employee. Brava cindee!

Visited 11.1-11.3.18 Front desk was so friendly! I was so surprised when the wait staff at the outside bar entertainment area were almost rude and they weren't even busy. Resort is an entertainment resort with outside stage, bar, seating and an inside dance club. On Friday and Saturday night the outside stage plays loudly until 2a. Didn't exactly bother us as much as the wait staff that acted like it was a pain to wait on guests!

Very disappointed with the service at this establishment today. It was my 5th time going within the last 2 months and we always had a good time. This time I decided to go with friends and our small kids. They immediately treated us as though we were an inconvenience. Hostess Morgan was clearly bothered by our presence. Despite us paying $35 to rent chairs, another $70 or so for food and drinks she decided to send over a manager to our beach area to tell us we had to take our cooler back to our car. We were with 3 children under the age of 2 who drink milk so it was insane to me they could even request this. The manager Chris didn't care one bit and when I asked him if he was really going to make me walk all the way back to my car with small kids he said yes of course our rules are on our website, very condescendingly. I checked the website when I got home and have yet to find these rules posted. We have always been treated exceptionally well whenever we come and during covid I have made it a point to tip my waitresses over 40% since I understand the industry has been hit hard. However, I will not be returning to Shephards. There are tons of other options in the area that I am sure will treat paying customers alot better. Morgan and Chris need some customer service training or maybe to simply be taught some compassion towards other people.

I payed more for this dates and still have to stay with bugs and insets

FAIL......the hotel was clean, great view, and then the sunday nite venue, lack of better word, a RAVE. There was DJ playing till after 2:30 am, The venue had a separate entrance than guest staying at the resort and they were not supposed to be in the resort area unless they had wristbands. We stayed in 2 rooms for 7 days.Spending over $1500 each for the week. When the people that came for the RAVE, paid $400 to have reserved seating by the stage for the venue, started to get rained on, the bar manager made the decision to move them into the gated area reserved for hotel guest (some who had paid thousands to stay the week at the resort) We had 2 small children with us, and even though the music was loud, we were sitting near the pool on the couches with tables, to eat dinner and watch the children swim. Again we spent over $1500 to stay the week just on our rooms each.( Thousands total for the week for this vacation) We were then told we could not sit there and asked to move, that since it started to rain they would be moving the people who paid $400 a table and were not staying at the resort in to our table and we had to move.
We then gathered out family and walked in the rain to a nearby resturant to eat dinner.
the bar manager who made this decison, came to my room to apologize and offered free drinks.
We tha paying patrons of their resort were removed to make room for people attending a huge, thousands, drunk, some naked, doped up, twerked up crowd. No sleep due to how loud the music was nearly all night long. We saw things we should have never seen. A heads up Shephard's to future guest that you would be hosting a RAVE, and that they might want to consider another resort choice.
You FAILED shephards, failed.
