Nice place on the river food looked good but i wasn't eating, had a nice drink and the staff were very nice.

Awesome! B sure to use your London pass. A stone's throw from tower bridge and London bridge.
The decoration is very beautiful although being open-roofed, you can hear the planes passing by at any moment.
A must do in London! I'm usually coming 5 times a year for the shows, which are excellent indeed! Totally suggested do both the plays and the theatre itself.
I have had some of the best evenings of theatre ever at the Globe. That's coming from a person who went to the theatre regularly throughout her childhood and beyond.... The Globe is a beautiful venue and the productions put on there are world class. The whole ethos of the place if for everyone to have a thoroughly good time (and yes that does include the tragedies).
We have seen many productions of Shakespeare in many venues over the years. My wife, a retired costume designer, agreed with me when I remarked that I was disappointed that the actors were in other than Elizabethan costumes. We have seen and enjoyed a wide variety of costumes and settings, some of which worked better than others, but not here so much has been done to reproduce an authentic experience, including the poor groundlings becoming drownlings in a hard, steady rain.
Otherwise, it was everything we had hoped for. A MUST for any fan of the Bard. Our lower level seats with our backs to the wall were perfect. Spend the few extra pounds for cushions, too.
A wonderful place, beautiful exhibitions. A truly Shakespearean climate. Wonderful guides with passion and devotion tell about the history of this place. You have to come here.
Great theater. Visits only possible with a guide. But it is worth it.
Nice place to see tells the story the staff guides you throughout the visit and explains in plain and simple English. The theater is still active you can see some shows today
It is not so much but next to it is the Millenium Bridge and if you cross it you already end up at St Paul's Cathedral which itself is quite worth it, it is not too recommendable but not bad
This place evokes awe and emotions all at once. We were in London only for a week but I badly wanted to go in to watch a play here. The play that I got to watch was The Winter's Tale which was not bad but not great either. But the fact is it did not matter. Set beside the Thames, the open theatre with it's old thatched roofs has something which no other theatre did to me. I had goosebumps thinking of the times when Shakespeare used to set the play up himself. The gift shop is also very nice for tourists. One other thing I would love to mention is about the volunteers who were working that night at the theater. They were very warm, nice and very helpful. We took a short walk in the moonlight after the show and it felt ethereal. I would love to go back and watch another production one other time.
This place is underated. Highly recommend to do it with a tour.
Saw Twelfth night - what a performance! Excellent take for anyone (even if Shakespeare is not one of your favourites). Great atmosphere. Get a cushion for one pound. It's well worth it!
Didn't see a show but got some nice pictures and visited the gift shop
Saw 'Much to do about Nothing' excellent performance in lovely authentic theatre.
Much Ado about nothing was fantastic! Even in the pouring rain!
The Globe Theatre is an accurate representation of what it would have been like to watch a play in Elizabethan times. While the original theater would have held 3,000 people health and safety limit attendance to about 1700 these days. Yes both the original and this one of the same size. Attend a matinee showing for a truly authentic experience.
Shakespeare globe theater guided tour
A must go for Shakespeare fans, such an informative tour Abt the history of theater in London . The whole layout of the theater has a meaning worth knowing about. Be careful there are both heaven seat and hell seat and also the penny stinkers . Ya if u have to see a play there the best seat is right in the middle of the theater in balcony of 50 pounds. ! Despite being a ICSE student, i felt a slight regret that I should have read all the plays to understand the whole thing better. The vibe near the theatre is amazing , take a walk on southwark bridge , it feels and looks good .
We also saw a play here, Midsummer night's dream. It was fabulous, we had bought standing tickets of 6 pounds but during the play we didn't realise we were standing , such a fabulous work by all the artists that we enjoyed even in the rain , so carry your raincoats for standing seats as we had to buy them for 2 pounds at the theater store. ! Do watch a play in the theater. !
The Theater the current Globe is a replica, since the previous one that burned was located a few blocks away. Unfortunately I could not enter since there was a work ending at that time. The works are not expensive, and you can also pay for guided walks.
It has a very nice shop with books for adults as well as children's versions and merchandising
What is not to like about this place. Live Shakespeare plays with talented actors for less than a pint of beer. Great location. Love love it!! Go.Go!!!
We went to see the Company's production of Henry VI, a blend of parts 2 & 3, in the Sam Wanamaker playhouse
An excellent evening's entertainment, with a talented and versatile cast doing justice to all the roles. Gruesome and funny, you get a lovely flavour of what happens when you have to many ambitious people hanging around a weak king.
Only guided tours in English and you can not see everything
This is the only thatched roof in london. Ever since the fires happened a long time ago, they outlawed them. However, since this is Shakespeare's design, it makes sense that they follow it to the T. It is a very cool sight to see.
For the love of Shakespeare! Talanted actors and always unforgetable memories. It's a bit hard to stand on your feet for such a long time but totaly worth it. The most interesting things happens in the standing crowd but there is also a sitting places for a bit higher cost
We had a great time on the tour, our guide made it fun and educational.
Wish there were an opportunity to see a show, even a brief skit during the day. It was off-season (early April), so weather was a potential issue, and they were doing some minor construction to the stage. Maybe next time.
A good place to learn about Shakespeare's history and the way things were during that time.
Didn't go in but inconic place and good vibes from outside , a good place to spend time
Great experience. Parts of the play we're tricky to understand so it's a good idea to look at a synopsis of the play before you go
The theatre is amazing the players even better, the whole performance was just the best. The seats are bit hard on the asse. But it did not detract from a truly wonderful evening. Unfortunately the circling planes were a nuisance, making difficult to hear. The ushers were warm friendly and very helpful. Definitely going again.!!
It is classical and the venue is emotional.
It is a place where you can enjoy performances considering that Shakespeare's works were performed here in the past.
Wonderful place in a perfect location, a must for all literary visitors
Contemporary take on Shakespeare's plays. Atmospheric setting in an almost authentic replica of the original Globe theatre. Cafe sells a small selection of excellent value snacks and light lunches.
Went to see an evening performance in the Sam wannamaker playhouse and it was excellent. Put up with the closeness and benches as it just adds to the experience.
I went to see A Midnights Summer Dream and it was just amazing. The Modern style mixed into this oldie... just amazing
Loved the performance here!!! Such a beautiful venue to display Shakespeare's greatest works in the modern era :)
A must visit if in London and want to see a Shakespeare play.
Just go abd vist its a nice place.. and you might learn something!
Get standing tickets, have a drink enjoy yourself, this is one of my favourite things to do in London. But I do like Shakespeare... It's so cheap if you stand that if you aren't sure about his plays it's a good place to start without too much at stake.
Nice reproduction of the old Globe. Not very nice from outside
The theatre tour is interesting and informative. Also the place is said to be the replica of very first theatre.
Experiencing Shakespeare the way it was done originally hundreds of years ago is a Wonder with the capital W.
The energy of the staff and players was extraordinary. Even in the middle of a flash rain, patrons cheered and actors played upon the drama.
We saw Henry V, and as a literary nerd I loved it. Also a fan of Game of Thrones (argh Season 8) was reminded of what good writing does in terms of pacing and composing the arcs of story. If this sounds interesting to you, then you may find this experience compelling.
Plenty of goods at the gift store; bonus points for ADA/disabled and gender neutral bathrooms, and a cherry on top for classy tourism.
Cheers.
It was amazing being in the replica of the famous glob theatre
Be forewarned. If you are a grounding, be prepared for hot sun in the afternoon (also the first couple rows of the galleries. Performance was excellent
Totally thrilling experience. On the tour we got to see the actors rehearsing for Twelfth Night!
One of the coolest ways to enjoy a Shakespearean drama. It's amazing to be able to see the moon on a clear night!
We went to see Romeo and Juliet in the middle tier. This is a really nice theatre and well run. Seats were fantastic and the performance was excellent, so good we are planning to go back.
Only small thing, drinks and food is cash only outside, seems a huge loss of revenue for this great venue in today s world.
Overall we loved the experience
Wonderful theatre, lovely staff and great acting, what's not to like.??
A fun visit, full of humor, informative, vivid. Highly recommended!
went there this morning with my college. our tour guide, called Tim, was very rude to my tutor and other students, and had a very bad first impression. not happy.
other tour guides were being so sweet, Tim was very hostile
I went without expectations and I ended up liking it a lot. The guide was very entertaining what made the experience better.
Go and stand right against the stage and feel the spit and sweat of the actors and actresses!
A bit expensive and the guide in English said the same as the informational brochure of the entrance. Very interesting and surprising inside.
Worth checking out from the outside, you can get a feel for it.
Great creative presentation of a play fraught with difficulties. Fine acting. Very engaging presentation. A pre- performance lecture had an interesting helpful preparatory introduction. I have one minor gripe. My wife and I had wanted to visit the Globe theatre and sample a play for aaaaages. Only at the point of printing off our tickets was it evident that the Globe is closed in winter months; this needs to be more explicit on the website. We did not realise that there are two theatres in the complex; the open to the elements Globe and the enclosed Sam Wanamaker Theatre.
Super interesting because simple to understand if you are French! In addition we learn a lot about London and its history
Go and be a Groundling. Take a raincoat with a hood just in case. I really think that's how to best experience a production here - under the stars and the elements - just as it would have happened in the Elizabethan period. Okay - granted More
Candlelight in the theater watching bambaska an air of live music according to the game according to the sounds given to the scene in a way that we can see the scene in every way, oh it is not standing up to that human finish is already
Excellent! Such nuggets of British history and the development of theatre in a most enjoyable tour by a great guide!
The most interesting thing is to be able to experience how to go to the theater a few hundred years ago. They make works at a reasonable price and even have some really good actors. Comfort and sight is improved but it is part of the experience. From my point of view, the only important point is that it is difficult to feel well what the actors say, both in the room's loudness and because some loud noises of the street enter. Even so I recommend it
